Moonpaw swallowed. I guess I'll ask my questions first then. Keeping his distance, he began to speak. "I wanted to know why you left MoonClan - from you. Why you really left."
Flame thought for a moment, "Well...that's a little personal, kit." She flicked her tail. "But I suppose it wont hurt for you to know. Ill make it short and sweet for you. I was unappreciated in Moonclan. A Primal Instinct tom came to me, taught me some battle techniques, and made me an offer. If I joined Primal Instinct, I could become the most powerful cat in all of the clans. So...I accepted his offer. He secretly trained me and once I had gotten my warrior name, I left to join Primal Instinct and have been there since. Blah blah blah, end of story."
Mudkit stepped forward, "What about your family?"
Flame's eyes blazed, "What about them?"
Mudkit gulped, "D-didnt you miss them?"
Flame flexed her claws, "they are soft. They didn't care about me. The only thing they cared about was how humiliated they would be that their daughter or sister had betrayed Moonclan. They cared about image more than me! Besides, when I left, Moonclan was on the verge of extinction. I was doing them a favor. One less cat they had to worry about. One less extra mouth to feed." She lashed her tail, "If you ask me, it was better for everyone."
He hesitated for a moment. "Have you...considered coming back?" he asked her, "Things have changed since you were last there." I think. It was an awkward question to ask her, especially at a time like this. "I mean, I'm sure your true family misses you. Right, Mudkit?"
The apprentice shook his head quickly. "No, not at all. We came here on our own.," he replied hurriedly. "But from what your mom told me, you were one of the finest warriors MoonClan had...why wont you come back?"
She narrowed her eyes, "I will not return. I will not lower myself to that level." Flame stood up and flexed her claws. Why was she even talking to them when she could just take them as hostages. "Now, why don't you be good little kits and come with me."
Mudkit stepped forward before Flame had a chance to act on anything else, "Wait. What if we could get Silverstar to reason with you."
Flame scoffed, "what? That lousey piece of crow food? I will not reason with him or any Moonclan cat. I take what I want."
Moonpaw felt his fur bristle. "You take that back!" he yelled at Flame, frustration welling up. He shook his head. He wanted to lash out but you that was only provoke her to retaliate. "You know what, Mudkit? Let's go," he said as he turned to leave, "It was a mistake coming here."
Flame blocked the two Tom's from leaving, "I let you leave last time and warned you to stay away or I would take you. You came back. You are mine now. Well, at least one of you." As quick as lightning, she snatched Mudkit up by the scruff of his neck and threw him to the ground, holding a claw to his throat. Her blazing eyes met Moonpaws as Mudkit screamed in fear and panic. "Now, Moonpaw. You see what you have done? If you would have stayed away, you and Mudkit would be safe in camp. But now, Mudkit belongs to me and if you make one move, his life ends!"
The tom froze in place. "Let him go! Mudkits your family, you wouldnt him...would you?" His ears flattened in fear. Silvershine wasnt here to save them this time, so who would it be...If anybody? Most MoonClan cats are asleep by this time so he doubted any were coming. His heart sank. What will he do? I knew it was a bad idea to come here! All he could do was watch on as Flame pinned her brother to the ground in fear.
"Moonpaw, go find help!" Mudkit squeaked before Flame put more pressure on his throat.
"No need." She hissed, raising her paw and hitting Mudkit hard on his head, knocking him out. "You go retrieve Silverstar. We will meet back here at moon high. Don't keep me waiting." Flame ordered Moonpaw before grabbing the unconscious Mudkit and hauled him off, his rump dragging the ground as Flame disappeared with Mudkit into the ferns.
(Out of curiosity, what do you intend to go with Flame?)
Moonpaw was shocked and stayed in place before he regained his senses. How could she do that? And to her own brother? He frantically sprinted full-speed back toward camp ignoring the bushes and foliage along the way. "Silverstar!" he repeatedly yelled out as he got near camp.
Silverstar! Silverstar's eyes shot open at the sound of his voice and he looked toward the mouth of his den. It must be important he thought as he rose to his paws and exited his nest. Heading toward the entrance of his, he was greeted with the silhouette of a young cat he recognized. "What's wrong, Moonpaw?" he asked.
"Silverstar, she took him! She took Mudkit!" Moonpaw said hysterically, pacing back and forth, eyes wide.
"Who is 'she' you speak of," he continued on as he continued forward. The closer he got to the entrance the more he saw how disheveled the apprentice was. Various wounds were scattered across his body, thorns and sticks stuck in dried and fresh blood. "Calm down, Moonpaw, and tell me what happened."
"It was a mistake going there," Moonpaw said through ragged breaths, the adrenaline wearing off and fatigue finally setting in. After a deep exhale, he continued on. "Me and Mudkit went to go talk to Flame and...and...it went wrong. So, so wrong." His head snapped up to look up at Silverstar. "She kidnapped Mudkit and took him somewhere. She told me to tell you to meet her at moon high just over the border. Please go save Mudkit!"
Silverstar took in the information he was given. "I will, rest assured," he responded calmly and started off toward Silvershine's den. "I must go talk to Silversh-"
"No, dont do that!" Moonpaw screeched. "She doesn't know and I don't want to worry her." It wasn't just that he didn't want to worry the queen, he didn't want her to look down him and see him as nothing more than a trouble to her children. This was mostly his fault and he felt guilty.
"It's okay," he said, placing his tail on the apprentice's shoulder as he walked past him. "I'll make sure she doesn't look down on you. We all make mistake when we're young. It will all be resolved soon."
(I'm actually not sure yet lol! I'm making it up as I go XD )
Silvershine heard the commotion and she exited the nursery after Moonpaw told Silverstar about Flame. She was too distracted by Moonpaw's commotion that she hadn't realized Mudkit was missing. "What's happened?" Silvershine asked as Silverstar approached her.

Mudkit blinked open his eyes to see a mouse next to his muzzle. He sat up, his head throbbing. He looked around and realized he was in a hollow tree with thick brambles blocking his exit. The sun was setting, casting long shadows and creating a blood red streak across the sky. He peeked through and saw Flame enjoying her own meal. "What...what are you going to do to me?" Mudkit asked, forcing his voice not to shake.
Flame looked at him with annoyance, "oh relax, cry baby. I'm not going to kill you if that's what you think. But I will use you. We will be meeting Silverstar tonight."
He gave her a slight reassuring smile before giving her the details. "Flame is holding Mudkit hostage," he stated. "I assuming Moonpaw told me that she wanted me to meet her just past the border." Hopefully, Mudkit will be there as well. "Since you're her mother, I wanted to see if you would like to accompany me or, at the least, provide advice on how to deal with her. I have to say my interactions with her were quite...limited."
At first, Silvershine was horrified that her son was missing but then her expression darkened when she heard that Flame was responsible. "Flame is behind this? I should have known." She looked over at Moonpaw but she wasn't angry at him. She knew her son all too well to know that he probably talked Moonpaw into this. "I don't know Flames intentions but I do know that she probably wants something out of it. A ransom, if you will." She explained, her eyes full of disappointment at her daughter as she spoke to Silverstar.
"Hmm...do you know what she could possibly want?" he asked. He should have known the history of why Flame left and the reasons behind it but he didn't. What could it be? He paced back and forth trying to think of what she may want. "Silvershine, I hate to ask you but do you mind accompanying me to this meet?"
He stopped pacing and nodded. "Thank you, Silvershine. It's almost time. We should be heading out soon." He looked toward the forest. Hopefully, Mudkit is doing okay.
Flame padded to the border, Mudkit trudging behind, his head lowered and his tail between his legs. The ginger she-cat halted, peering through the forest. The moon was almost at its peak, they should be coming soon.
Followiing Moonpaw's instructions, Silverstar led the way toward the border with Silvershine in tow, the moon making its ascent to in the sky. Nearing the border he saw the spot the apprentice mentioned and sat waiting. He tasted the air for any other scents but nothing came of it. They should be here soon.
