Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
He felt his fur begin to stand on end, but she was right. She was probably beyond the point of redemption at this point. Reluctantly, he finished his meal and disposed of it. Despite all he was told, he couldnt help but keep thinking about it.
As morning began to break, the rest of the clan deposited to their dens for a good sleep. Mudkit sneaked out of the nursery and caught up to Moonpaw before Silvershine could call him to bed. "Moonpaw!" He called as he bounded over to the apprentice. "Meet me by the dirt place at sun high. By that time, most of the clan will be asleep."
Light filtered into the nursery. Mudkit had pretended to go to sleep and was now peaking open an eye to make sure his siblings and mother were still resting. When he saw the gentle rise and fall of their flanks, indicating they were asleep, he tiptoed out of his nest and out into the camp. The sunlight hurt his eyes. He wasnt used to being out during the day. He made his way toward the dirt place, watching the dens to make sure no one stirred. He let out a sigh of relief as he made it to the dirt place without anyone noticing.
Since there werent many apprentices in the den just yet, it wasnt hard to sneak out and away. The dirt place. Right. As he made his way towards the meeting spot Mudkit gave him, he made sure no one would follow him. Reaching the destination, he spotted Mudkit and crept his way over to him.
Moonpaw paused and glanced around. "Are you sure about this?" he questioned. The words of Silvershine still echoed in his head. "But your mom told me..."
"It doesnt matter what my mother said. You were right, Moonpaw. We cant give up on her. If we dont stop her, she will only grow more stronger and then she will take Moonclan down." Mudkit circled Moonpaw, his eyes lighting up. "Imagine if we did stop her! We could be heroes! We could save Moonclan and maybe get our warrior names early!"
Moonpaw's eyes followed Mudkit around. "But, I mean, its till dangerous. I agree but dont you think we need more cats for this. You dont have the training. Heck, I don't have the training to take on a full warrior!" he reasoned. A part of him wanted to ignore his more rational side and just go for it but the risks couldnt be ignored. "What will we do exactly?"
"Yes, but who knows what she might do to you. From what Silvershine told me, not even Pinesong can get through to her. And they were close. Are you for certain she wont attack you? Even if you are family?" Moonpaw was worried. This could end badly if they werent careful. If they both went missing, Silvershine may not be there to save them like she was last time. "Look, I want to go through with this, but I want to be sure."
Mudkit opened his mouth to tell Moonpaw that he was certain but quickly closed his mouth. The truth was, he wasn't certain. In fact, he was scared. However, he didnt want to admit that. He wanted to believe there was a way to save her. He didnt want Moonpaw to go alone because he knew Flame would possibly kill him but since Mudkit was family and they had met before, perhaps she wouldnt harm them. "We gotta try. And if she starts acting aggressive, we will bail. I mean, she may not even be there for all we know."
He looked down, pawing the ground nervously. "I dunno...this seems risky." he replied. "But, I say lets do it." If Mudkit was right, since they were family, there was a chance that Flame might not be as aggressive as the time when they were alone. Maybe he would see a side of her that wasn't hostile. "Hopefully, theres a chance."
Mudkit's face lit up and he nodded. "Great! Lets go!" The silver and brown tabby slipped through an opening at the back of the dirt place where he and his siblings used to sneak out. The forest opened up before them, bright and glittery. The sun shown through the canopy of trees, leaving golden dapples across the forest floor. The forest was alive with bird song and cicadas rattled loudly in the trees. "Everything looks so different during the day" Mudkit pointed out, scanning the forest. He had snuck out a few times but it was rarely ever during the day.
Though Mudkit was nearly the size of Moonpaw, he still had tufts of kitten fur and big buldging eyes. His head and muzzle were rather small but he was tall which made up for his kitten-like features. He swung his small tabby head toward Moonpaw, his bright blue-gray eyes beaming with anticipation. "Where did you see her last?"
He glanced around. "We'll have to cross the border. But I cant remember the exact place. My paws just...kind of took me there. " he said sadly. "But I do think I have an idea. Follow me," he said as he flicked his tail for Mudkit to follow behind.
He vaguely remembered the path he took the day before and it led him to a small clearing surrounded by shrubbery. "I this is the place Flame showed up," he said over his shoulder. He tasted the air, but nothing but the faint scent of Primal Instinct cat came with it. "She might not be here..."
Mudkit pulled up beside him and sniffed the air. "Hmm...I guess your right." He looked almost disappointed until he heard the crack of a twig and he froze.
A ginger shape slid from a tree, landing on her paws on the forest floor with a soft thump. She stalked forward until she stood tall before the two toms. Her ginger fur was ablaze in the sunlight. Unlike it was in the night, her fur glowed and burned like an ever lasting flame. Her eyes were pools of blue fire as they narrowed to slits. However, a bone chilling smile pulled at the corner of her lips and her voice was uncomfortably gentle. "My, my. Two Moonclan cats crossing the border. Tsk tsk" she clicked her tongue. "Moonclan really should teach their apprentices better tracking. Good to see you again, Moonpaw and Mudkit." Flame tasted the air before continuing. "Moonpaw, you only brought a kit instead of a warrior this time? I thought maybe you would have learned your lesson the last time."
Moonpaw steeled himself against her gaze and stood tall. "I was only caught by surprise the last time. I dont always need a warrior to come to the rescue," he responded confidently as he glanced over to Mudkit to say something. It probably wasnt a good idea for him to speak first but he did so anyway. "We actually came to speak with you." So please, dont attack us.
