Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It was a foolish idea, Moonpaw knew this. Yet at the same time, the act carried an irresistible glow, one that he could not refuse. The glow of a cold claw moon shined overhead, casting a silvery light down upon the black forest. Silence cloaked the land like a blanket, punctured only by the occasional whisper of the wind. Moonpaw crept forward, keeping low to the ground, fur brushing against the leaves. He had long since left the protection of his clans territory, wandering aimlessly into the unknown.
A large shape moved to block his path, flaming ginger fur illuminated in the dim moonlight and turquiose eyes blazed with blue fire. "Well, well. What is it that we have here?" Came a cold female voice from the cat blocking Moonpaw's path. With closer observation, muscles rippled under the ginger she-cats fur and her scent smelled nothing of the clan cats. Sharp teeth glinted as the strange cat grinned menacingly.
Moonpaw, startled, shrieked and recoiled back, his eyes searching for an escape. "N-nothing," he managed to sputter out. The stranger in front of him was...massive. That sort of size made no sense to him but he knew he had to find a way out. From the smell of it, she wasnt from any of the clans he recognized. That must mean shes a rogue or loner but either way dangeroushe thought. Seeing a possible way out he said, "I was j-just going to be on my way..."
"Why are you leaving so soon?" she asked, her voice softening to an eerie gentleness. She circled the apprentice, her eyes boring into Moonpaw. "Your a clan cat, aren't you? My name is Flame. I'm from Primal Instinct but I have made an alliance with Nightclan so I often come around the clan boundaries." She stroked Moonpaw with her tail, gently. "You smell of Moonclan. You know...I was born in Moonclan."
He hesitated for a moment at the mention of MoonClan but tried to keep his distance from the she-cat."You were?" he asked her suspiciously. He didnt recognize her so she must have left his clan some time ago. "Why'd you leave," he asked curiously, but winced, realizing the question sounded aggressive and tried to rephrase it but couldn't find the words. "I mean...um..l..." Her gentleness was throwing him off a bit as he didnt know whether to relax or still try to run for it as soon as possible. He could try and run but something told him that would have been a bad idea.
She smiled at his question, impressed by his boldness to ask her. "Well, now that is quite a tale." A purr rumbled in her throat and she stood tall in front of Moonpaw. "You see, I was one of Moonclan's finest warriors. But they didn't see the potential I had. They didn't see the protection I could give them. Instead, they allowed Dayclan to have complete control over them. Let's just say, I didn't want to be controlled. I didn't want to be Dayclan's...pet, if you will." She sat and raised a paw, examining her claws. "So I left Moonclan. Joined Primal Instinct and made an alliance with Burningstar of Nightclan for-" She paused, dramatically. "Revenge on Moonclan." She grinned, revealing sharp teeth as if a wicked plan was brewing in her mind but her voice remained soft, "But now, a Moonclan apprentice has fallen into my paws."
Moonpaw's heart sank at her final words. He was surely in danger; it was just a matter of time before the she-cat pounced on him. But when? His eyes started searching again, moving much quicker with a desperation. "What are you going to do with me?" he asked trying to buy time. This cat was clearly twisted. He didnt know much about Primal Instinct cats but he had heard rumors. Horrible rumors. Just then, a thought hit him and filled him with the slightest bit of hope. "D-did you know that MoonClan is under new leadership," he asked. Our former deputy, Silverstreak was chosen by the Moon God to lead." Hopefully this would buy some time for him.
Interest flicked in her eyes, "Is that so? Silverstreak, huh?" She paused, clearly thinking. "Well..." She leaped forward and pinned Moonpaw to the ground. "Now, I have a leverage on Moonclan. I will use you to get what I want. If Silverstr- ehem, Silverstar wants you back in camp alive, he will give me what I want."
Moonpaw struggled under the cats weight. "What is that you could want from MoonClan. I'm sure whoever you hold a grudge isnt there anymore!" he exclaimed. "Please just let me go! I could get you two to meet somewhere and talk it out?" Silverstar is reasonable. He'll find a way to get me out of this!
She chuckled, "It's not that easy. Moonclan must pay!"
"Let...him...go" came a voice Flame knew all too well. Out stepped a beautiful silver tabby she-cat with brilliant ocean blue eyes.
Flame paused, staring in disbelief. "Or what?"
"Flamingsoul, let him go" she repeated with a growl, sliding out her claws.
Flame glared but released Moonpaw. "I don't go by that name anymore." she hissed.
"Get behind me, Moonpaw" the silver tabby ordered, beckoning him with a flick of her tail. She turned to Flame, "taking one of our apprentices is going too far!"
Flame sneered, "He was over the border. It's fair game after that!"
Moonpaw scrambled to his feet and got behind the other she-cat. What is going on? Who is this cat? He looked back and forth between the two of them, feeling the tension rise. He quickly licked where the large cats paws had pinned and winced at the pain. There werent any noticeable wounds but he wasnt too sure. Adrenaline was pumping through his body.
Flame came closer and the tabby she-cat blocked Flame from Moonpaw with her tail and glared at the ginger she-cat. "You stay away from our clan, Flame" she growled.
Flame's gaze rested on Moonpaw, "this is not over. Silverstar will give me what I want. And you, Silvershine," Her eyes flicked to the silver tabby, "tell him I will be here. I will keep taking cats who wonder beyond the territory. The next one I capture, you may not be here to save them."
Silvershine glared at Flame, "I cannot believe the monster you have become."
Flame grinned and let out a light chuckle, "You birthed me. How does it feel to have given birth to evil?"
Silvershine didn't say anything after that, sadness clouded her blue eyes.
"I will be here, Silvershine. That is my warning" Flame hissed before disappearing into the bushes.
Silvershine turned to face Moonpaw her gaze soft but they held emotional pain, "Are you okay, Moonpaw? Your not hurt, are you?"
(I'm an idiot for not realizing it was Silvershine haha)
He looked himself over again then shook his head. "Nothing serious," he confirmed. "Just some bruising, but that's about it." He looked at the she-cat. "Thank you for saving me, Silvershine. But wait, how did you know where to find me?"
(Lol nah! It was kind of my fault for not bringing up her name in the first part XD)
"I followed your scent. I was out hunting when I noticed your scent went over the boundary. I had to make sure you were okay. Looks like I got here at the nick of time, too" she mewed, her voice carrying concern. "I'm glad your okay but Moonpaw, you are only an apprentice. You should not be wondering this far without a warrior with you."
He smiled apologetically. "I was feeling adventurous though. I wanted to see what else was out there beyond our territory. I've only heard stories and rumors and wanted to see for myself but," he sighed reluctantly and looked down. "I wont go off by myself again. Or will I?
Silvershine touched Moonpaw gently with her tail and offered him an understanding smile. "I was a lot like you when I was your age. But it's dangerous out here. You experienced that first paw, tonight. I know Flame and she would have killed you. Primal Instinct cats get rewarded for killing other cats. You must be careful. Flame has had it out for Moonclan ever since she left." Her smile faded as she spoke of her daughter but her smile quickly returned. "Lets get you home, shall we? You must be hungry."
He opened his mouth to say something but closed it choosing rather to not bring up the past. Like Silvershine said, Flame was a dangerous cat he would not want to run into again. At least, not by himself. Shaking the negative thoughts from his head, he returned the smile to the cat. "Of course I am!"
"Good" she purred as she lead the way back into Moonclan territory. Silvershine picked up two mice, a bat, and a gliding squirrel she had caught before she noticed Moonpaw's disappearance and carried them back to camp. She placed them at the fresh-kill pile. "If anyone asks, you were out hunting with me, okay? Go ahead and choose something from the pile."
He nodded and picked up a mouse from the pile. "I will. Thank you again," he did between a mouthful of prey and went to lay down. He let out a sigh of relief. Today was a close one. He hadn't know that just beyond the border lie Primal Instinct cats. He knows not to go past that point. What he was really curious about Flame and MoonClan's history. Why was Silvershine so sad when she talked to her. There were so many questions he had, but he probably had no business asking.
(Awesome! Theres a plot coming up in Nightclan where Frozenfire and Flame work together to take over Nightclan and run Burningstar off and Frozenfire is going to make Flame deputy and Im think maybe Flame can talk to Frozenfire and rage war on Moonclan?)
Mudkit bounced up to Moonpaw. The gray and brown tom was nearly apprenticed but with the new leadership, his apprenticeship was delayed. He was also Silvershines son from her second litter and is related to Flame. "Moonpaw! Where have you been?"
