The wind blew fiercely as Lionesspaw crept through the tall grass. The she-cat had decided to do some hunting in the rabbit meadow. Little did she know that she would be chased and attack by a pack of dogs. Lionesspaw had only crouched in the grass, when she felt the presence of a dog, looming over her. She glanced up right as the dog lunged at her. She felt his teeth sink into her ear, making her yowl in pain, before running for her life. She quickly forgot about the rabbit, as did the dogs. They ended up cornering her against the log bridge, and tore into her with a gash where her eye and face should have been, her legs were less wounded but marred for life. She was only saved due to a patrol coming by, on their noon patrol.

Ravenmask was leading a hunting patrol to the rabbit meadow. All that was on his mind was feeding the clan, especially now that the dreaded prey illness was over. There were plenty of hungry mouths to fill. But before he arrived the sounds of barking and the screeches of a cat came to his ears. "Someone's in trouble!" he called to the rest of his patrol as he took off running. Soon he came to the log bridge where he saw a young apprentice surrounded by a pack of angry dogs. He, along with the rest of his patrol, began yowling out dire threats to the dogs and encouragement to the cat. The dogs, surprised and startled by the patrol's appearance and ferocity, turned tail and ran to the north toward the gathering place. Ravenmask was the only one to stay behind to tend to the injured apprentice while the rest of his patrol chased the dogs off the territory.
He winced when he saw Lionesspaw. Her injuries must hurt her a lot. "How are you doing?" he asked hoping she was still alive.
Lionesspaw winced as she tried to get up, but once unable too, she laid down again. "I hurr...t all over." She replied weakly. She could feel the blood from her wounds surrounding her golden pelt.

"Don't try to move," Ravenmask cautioned Lionesspaw. He knew he had to get the young apprentice help soon but how? It wasn't long before Pantherpaw came running back from the chase. "The dogs are long gone," she puffed proudly as if she had chased them all off on her own. "The others have them well in paw so I came back to help here."
~~~
"Run quickly back to camp and bring Graythorn here right away. Hurry now! Time is of the essence. She could die from bleeding too much," Ravenmask instructed the apprentice.
~~~
Seeing the injured Lionesspaw sobered up Pantherpaw quickly. "Yes! I'll run faster than I ever have!" The black she cat took off running back to the camp.
~~~
Ravenmask saw some spider webs attached to the log bridge and he quickly gathered some together. "I'm not a medicine cat but I'll try to do the best I can to help you until help arrives." He began to press the webs into her more serious wounds.
Lionesspaw laid still allowing the warrior to do what he could. She thought of running in the rain, oddly enough it got her mind off of the pain she was in.
As if luck would have it, Fawnheart, Springclans medicine cat was on her way to pay Graythorn a visit. She had seen a patrol chasing off the dogs and took it upon herself to check to see if anyone was harmed. She followed where the patrol was running away from and eventually smelled the sour tang of blood. She quickened her pace and found Ravenmask tending to an injured apprentice. Ignoring any questioning looks, she quickly observed the apprentice. She was in bad shape but Ravenmask was smart to have used cobweb. Fawnheart gentle felt around the injured apprentice, checking for any broken bones. "Does this hurt?" She asked touched one of her forelegs.
"StarClan must have sent you," Ravenmask meowed as he watched the SpringClan medicine cat work. "It would have taken awhile for Graythorn to reach us here. Thank you so much." He recognized the she cat from the few gatherings he had been to.
Pantherpaw's paws pounded the ground as she ran back to the camp. She was only half way there when Fernheart arrived to help, but of course she had no knowledge of that fact. She leaped over the small stream in one bound, her hind paws landing in the water. "I still have a way to go," she huffed out loud. She knew she had to get to the camp in record time.
"You're welcome," Ravenmask meowed. "Now try not to talk too much and save your strength." He was glad Fawnheart was there but he also wished Graythorn would come quickly. "What more can I do to help?" he asked the SpringClan medicine cat. ~~~ Pantherpaw arrived back at the camp winded from her long, fast run. After explaining to Graythorn what had happened, the medicine cat asked Ashensnow to come with him to the log bridge. "Now you rest here," he told Pantherpaw, "and tell your mentor that I excuse you from any further training today. You did well coming here so fast." Then with the dusty white she cat, Graythorn ran out of the camp.
After what seemed to Ravenmask was an eternity, he saw two cats racing toward them from a distance. (By now his patrol had returned and he had sent them into the meadow to hunt.) "Over here!" he called to Graythorn and Ashensnow as they came into haling distance. "I can see you," Graythorn snorted. "I'm not blind!" Grumbling he made his way over to Lionesspaw. He thanked Fawnheart for her assistance then looked at the apprentice. "How bad are you hurting?" He could tell her injures were quite extensive even through the bandaging the other medicine cat had done.
"That's a good gift to be able to do that." Graythorn knew he had to get Lionesspaw back to his den to treat her properly. Also one could never tell if the dogs might just decide to return which would spell certain disaster. "Do you think you can make it back to camp?" he asked. "I know these two cats would be willing to assist you you on the way."
~~~
"She can ride on my back," Ravenmask offered. "And you two can walk on either side to make sure she doesn't slide off." He indicated both Graythorn and Ashensnow.

Ravenmask smiled at the injured she cat's spunk. "That's fine with me," he replied. "But the offer's still there if you need it."
~~~
Graythorn moved in closer to Lionesspaw's side. "Now be careful," he cautioned. "You've lost a lot of blood." He examined her right leg more closely to make sure the webs were still in place.
"I understand and thank you!" She replied as she steadied herself. She took a few steps and stopped to make sure she wasn't gonna fall. She gingerly lifted a paw and set it down in front of her , testing herself as she moved slowly towards camp.
Graythorn held back his tongue. Any medicine cat could see that it was broken! But he was cordial in his reply to Fawnheart. "Yes, it looks that way. Thanks for coming by when you heard there was trouble. Just wondering, why were you on SummerClan land anyway?"
~~~
Ravenmask and Ashensnow were walking on either side of Lionesspaw. "A broken leg!" the she cat meowed. "That sounds awful. Now just remember that if you get too tired or if this pace is too fast, please tell us."
"Yes," Ravenmask agreed. "We're here to help you."
