Pantherpaw immediately ran out to retrieve some water for her friend.
After watching his sister race out of the camp, Graythorn turned back to his patient. After inspecting her leg closely once again, he sat back and sighed. He debated if he should tell her what he suspected.

"Well, the good news is your injuries will heal," Graythorn began. "There are none that should cause death." He paused and tried to gather the right words. "However, I believe that you'll walk with a limp for the rest of your life. The dog bit through some of the tendons in this leg." He sighed. "I could be wrong but I don't think so."
Lionesspaw nodded her head taking in the news quietly. "Well that is better then not being able to walk on it at all. It will just take time and practice to get use to it." She answered with a smile.

Graythorn was both surprised and pleased over Lionesspaw's attitude. Most cats would be in a state of despair over news like this. "You show such a level of grace and maturity that most older cats don't have," he meowed. "I'm very pleased you're taking this news so well."

By then Pantherpaw returned with the water in a piece of moss. "After you get a drink you should take a nap," Graythorn instructed the apprentice. The black apprentice placed the soaked moss near Lionesspaw. "I hope you heal soon," she said.

It was a clear morning as Graythorn padded back to the medicine with a mouse in his mouth for Lionesspaw. The warm sun on his back cheered him somewhat (if that was even possible). Leaffall still had plenty of warm days in store before the cold winds of Leafbare came calling. "Here's something for you to eat," he said after placing the mouse near her. "When you're through I think it's time for you to start using your leg again. We'll start with some easy exercises at first then build up to more strengthening ones."
"Thank you , Greythorn . " She replied as she began to eat the mouse. " Her eyes bright with happiness at the thought of being able to use her leg again. After a few more minutes Lionesspaw finished her meal and meowed to the medicine cat. " I'm ready now."

Graythorn took a thin vine and looped it loosely around her back right leg and took the other end of the vine and attached it to a small log. "Work your leg like this," he meowed, demonstrating what he wanted her to do. "Pull your injured leg forward first then move the rest of yourself forward. It'll seem awkward but it'll help give your leg it's strength back."
Lionesspaw nodded her head and moved her leg forward and then scooted her body forward, as instructed. She felt weird but knew it was necessary if she wanted to be able to walk or at least limp on it in the future. She let out a groan as she worked her leg.
