As they were walking, they came across a fallen tree in the path. "Oh no!" Ashensnow meowed. "I forgot all about this tree!" She looked apologetically at Lionesspaw.
Ravenmask sighed. It wasn't a difficult jump for an able bodied cat to make but for an injured one? He didn't know. "Perhaps we should try to go around it." Both ends of the tree was shrouded in bushes. The torn up roots were tangled in thorns while the branches squashed a lilac bush.
"Well we can't possibly go that way." Ashensnow indicated the thorns with a wave of her tail.
Lionesspaw continued on their way , but ended up stopping in front of the fallen tree. "I have to agree, I don't need thorns in my pelt or wounds." She looked around trying to find a way around it.

"You're right," Ashensnow meowed sympathetically. "You don't need anymore injuries."
~~~
"Hey! Look over here," Ravenmask called with optimism in his voice. "There's a narrow path through these limbs and lilac bush branches. It looks tight but doable."
~~~
Ashensnow looked at the way the black tom indicated. "Do you think you can get through there?" she asked Lionesspaw.

"Be careful," Ashensnow cautioned. "I'll follow behind you and help you if you have any trouble."
"I'll jump over the tree and go to the other end," Ravenmask meowed. The tom nimbly jumped up onto the fallen tree and then jumped back down on the other side. Quickly he found the other end of the narrow pathway and called out to Lionesspaw. "I can see you. You can make it. It doesn't look too hard from here."
Lionesspaw nodded her head. " Ok." Before carefully placing one paw in front of the other, till she almost reached the other side. Her injured paw got caught on a tree limb barely above the ground. She tripped over it, gasping in pain as she fell on her leg and stomach. She let out an annoyed hiss, before struggling to gain her footing once more.

Immediately Ashensnow was at Lionesspaw's side. "Here let me help you." The dusty white she cat squeezed through the branches, moving them away from the injured apprentice. "How's that?"

"You're very welcome," Ashensnow replied.
"Come on, get outta the way," a grumpy voice sounded from behind Ravenmask. The black tom stepped aside to let Graythorn pass. The medicine cat had crossed the tree in the same manner as the black tom had and was waiting for Lionesspaw on the other side. "I want to make sure all your dressings are still in place." Then turning back to Ravenmask he growled, "Leading her back this way where the fallen tree is! Just what were you thinking?" Ravenmask just held his tongue and walked away not wanting to provoke a fight with the medicine cat.
Graythorn came closer to Lionesspaw to inspect the dressings. "How are you doing? Have any of your injuries reopened?"

Graythorn busied himself by checking over all Lionesspaw's injuries. "Well that's good," he said in reply to her answer. "Good," he finally meowed after his examination. "None have come loose ... with no thanks to some cats other cats around here." He glared at Ravenmask but the black and gray cat ignored him.
"Well let's get going again," Ashensnow meowed, trying to ignore the surly medicine cat too. Ravenmask took the lead this time and headed down the path.

Once back at camp, Graythorn directed Lionesspaw into his den. "Here, take either nest you want," he meowed to her, indicating with a wave of his tail two nests made with fresh moss. The medicine den was empty now that the sickness had passed. "I'll get you some poppy seeds to help with your pain." He then went to his herb stores in the back of his den.
"If you need any more help, just ask for me and I'll be glad to help you," Ashensnow told the apprentice before leaving her to Graythorn's care.
Lionesspaw dipped her head to Ashensnow. "I will, thank you!" She replied respectfully before taking the closest nest to the den entrance of the den. As she settled down she also thanked Graythorn as well.

Graythorn came out of his herb stores carrying a small leaf folded in half. As he placed it on the ground in front of the injured apprentice it unfolded itself revealing two poppy seeds nestled in the crevice. "Here, lick these seeds up. They'll help with your pain."
"Good," Graythorn meowed when he saw that Lionesspaw had eaten the seeds. "Just rest here now and try to go to sleep. The seeds will help you with that. I'll retreat your injuries later after you wake up."

(Sorry for the late reply. I was away at a conference. You got a new name! I like it . I just finished reading the debate thread about possibly moving here on WF and saw your post about not being able to see small fonts too well. Is this size large enough for you? It's 12pt. I can make it larger if you want.)
After sometime Ashensnow came back to check on Lionesspaw. "What are you doing here?" Graythorn demanded in harsh but hushed tones. "Can't you see she's sleeping? She needs her rest."
"I know that," Ashensnow meowed, her fur a bit ruffled. "I just wanted to see how she's doing."
