Sagebristle is a firecracker and a difficult cat to befriend, with her antagonism, snark, and unpleasant attitude, meant to be a defense mechanism. Underneath the prickly exterior is a deeply loyal and loving heart, but it's well-hidden.
Eden is bubbly, social, intelligent, and witty, but she also lacks any sense of morality, and does things just to find out what will happen, including manipulating or harming others to see the end result. She's a bit childish when she doesn't get her way.

Life has been harsh for Rosethorn, but she's taken every lesson learned and branded it on her soul. Those who look at her see a self-assured and resilient she-cat, but her happiness hasn't come easily. Her childhood struggles with comparison to her sister taught her to love her unique talents and strengths, her strained relationship and reconciliation with Orchiddrop etched into her soul the importance of family- and Summerclan's support and love of her taught her the importance of found family, too. Her stillborn kits imbued her with her passionate and fierce love of her living son, her time spent in Nightclan recovering from her grief deepened her love of Summerclan. Her stepping down from her deputy position taught her that authority isn't exempt from making mistakes, and her mate's infidelity doubled her determination to never let herself be disrespected again. Life hasn't offered Rosethorn much kindness, but the cats around her have, and Rosethorn tries her hardest to extend that kindness to others. Witty, sarcastic, sociable, and self-assured, this cream and gray she-cat has never been afraid to speak her mind. Her born talents are her perceptiveness, her intelligence, and her social nature- her hard-won qualities are her resilience, her love for family and clan, and her ability to accept her mistakes as part of who she is. Rosepaw joined Summerclan with her sister after her parents were brutally murdered. She had been chosen by her mother and father to die instead of her sister- and would have, had Orchid not jumped between her and the rogue. She was processing her parent's betrayal when they were thrust into a new way of living.
Rose could not fight, and could not bear to even kill a mouse. So she was failed out of warrior training and moved to Garden Keeper training. Her bitterness towards her successful sister and her station in the clan grew, coming out in outbursts.
She met several cats along the way- Soullesspaw in Winterclan, and several older Garden Keepers who helped her see that Summerclan was far from the worst place to be. When she went on a journey with her sister, her sister's boyfriend, and his gang, she began slowly repairing her relationship with Orchid.
Upon returning to the clan and receiving her warrior name, Rosethorn began searching for meaning in her work and in her friendships instead of by comparing herself to others.
When walking near the Moonclan border, she ran into a particularly nasty tom named Phantomfox, and they argued a bit before she tried to leave. When she was attacked by a rabid raccoon on her way out, the tom stepped in to save her. Reluctantly, she brought him herbs and a flower wreath as a thank you a few days later, before the borders closed.
When her sister got pregnant and claimed that it was Goldenshadow's, Rosethorn was suspicious, since she knew of her connection to Crow. She convinced Crow to join Summerclan to help her figure out why and how Orchiddrop got trapped in her relationship.
When the Summerclan borders re-opened, Rosethorn made her way back to Moonclan to see if Phantomfox was alive after the Moonclan and Sunclan war. There she was bitten by a snake, and spent a week or so recovering in Moonclan territory with Phantomfox watching over her. With all their previous meetings and with this time together, Rosethorn developed strong feelings for the grumpy tom.
Later, after Goldenshadow had been disposed of and Orchiddrop and Crow were awkwardly mending their relationship, Phantomfox confessed his love for Rosethorn. She agreed, reluctantly, to do long distance, since he would not return to Summerclan because of the demons haunting his past.
Shortly after that, Rosethorn was chosen to be the new deputy of Summerclan by Ratstar. It was a surprise, but one that filled her with pride, now that she truly had come to accept her unique strengths instead of comparing herself to her sister. After becoming deputy, she learned she was pregnant with Phantomfox's kits, and was excited to be a mom but nervous about coparenting long distance.
However, it seemed her happiness was not to last. Rosethorn lost 5 of her 6 kits in a traumatic and painful birth, and was left with only one living son, Foxkit. She brought him to Nightclan with her, to live with his father in a place that did not remind her of everything she could not have. It was difficult to part with her sister, and her nieces and nephews, but Rosethorn did her best to adjust.
After some time numbed her loss, Rosethorn warmed up to Nightclan. She was overly protective over her sickly son, even as he grew to be apprentice aged, but she believed in his ability to do great things.
However, her happiness wasn't meant to last yet again. Rosethorn grew suspicious of Phantomfox's behavior and discovered his emotional affair with Aspenstar, the leader of Nightclan. After a volatile argument, she took their son and returned to Summerclan without her mate.
In the midst of healing from her broken marriage, Summerclan was invaded by Nightclan and colonized. On the night of the invasion Rosethorn was brutalized by the tom she once loved and marked with three slash scars across her chest, right over her heart. She carries those scars still, and her hatred of her former mate has only intensified.
During the months of occupation, Rosethorn became pregnant from a one-night stand with Pinesimmer, Aspenstar's brother, and fell in love with her close friend Howlingheart. When she wasn't kept on a short leash by her former mate, she trained and planned with Sunpetal, her former apprentice, and they formulated a plan to free Summerclan.
Their plan succeeded- but during the night of fighting she was nearly drowned by Phantomfox, and would've died if Howlingheart had not intervened. It was revealed that Howlingheart was Phantomfox's long estranged brother, and Phantomfox brutalized the tom within an inch of death.
After the battle, Sunpetal and Rosethorn were chosen to be the new leader and deputy. Rosethorn asked Howlingheart to be the father of her kits and began thinking of a plan with Sunstar to keep the children away from Pinesimmer and Nightclan.

Orchiddrop - Sister - sunlight Rosethorn loves Orchiddrop deeply and loyally. They had a rough stretch after joining the clan, but that has since been patched up as Rosethorn has embraced her own strengths instead of envying her sister. Rose is willing to do anything for her sister, and is fiercely protective of her.
Foxfable - Son - ian The only surviving kit of her first litter, Rosethorn is intensely protective of Foxfable and loves him more than she could ever vocalize. She believes in his abilities despite his constant sickness.
Sunstar - Friend - woof What started as Sunpaw's resentment towards her mentor has evolved into a deep and full friendship between the two cats. They worked together to liberate Summerclan, and Rosethorn supported Sunpetal's promotion to leader. She trusts her with her life.
Howlingheart - Love - ian Rosethorn was surprised to find that a solid friendship with the quiet tom had evolved into a steady love. While it differs from her passionate and fiery romance with his brother, Phantomfox, she is ready for a stronger, more sturdy relationship.
Pinesimmer - Baby Daddy - Honeystorm Her hook-up with him was an exhausted and lonely mistake, and she was further horrified by it after learning he had brutally stolen a life from Ratstar, her former leader. She's avoided him since then and is working to keep her kits out of his life.
Crow - Brother in Law - woof Rosethorn accompanied Crow and his gang on a vengeance mission and ended up enjoying their company. Rose thinks Crow is a little corny but he's funny and a good friend. There was a period of strain after she lied to him in order to get him to save her abused sister, but they are working through it and becoming friends again
Phantomfox - Ex - woof A tom she met near the Moonclan border. They had a long and serious relationship that resulted in their stillborns and their own living son. Rosethorn left Summerclan to be with him in Nightclan, but found out that he had been emotionally unfaithful. His cruelty about it was the last straw, and she broke up with him and returned to Summerclan with Foxpaw. When Nightclan rolled in and took over, his physical assault on her cemented her complete and utter hatred of him.
Aspenstar - Former Leader - ian Rosethorn thought of Aspenstar as a friend when she lived in nightclan, but that relationship soured when Phantomfox admitted to being in love with Aspenstar. Logically she doesn't blame Aspenstar for this, but the name still sparks a lot of resentment in her.
Goldenshadow - Ex Brother in Law - woof [deceased?] Rosethorn hates this man, her sister's abusive former mate. She literally wants him dead and regrets that she can't kill him herself.
Ratstar - Former Summerclan Leader - Gidgetgal Ratstar aided Rosethorn in figuring out her sister's motivations and Goldenshadow's abusive tendencies. She respects him as a leader and as a cat in general. She was surprised he chose her as his deputy, but pleasantly so. Even if she doesn't work with him any more, he is still someone she admires. biography
Sagebristle is not an easy cat to befriend, by any means. She's abrasive, mistrustful, and often sharp-tongued to the point of immediately alienating anyone who speaks to her. Many older cats know how she came to Nightclan, yowling and fighting off the guard captain after being abandoned on the border as a kit. They know her as the undersized, scrawny, and scrappy apprentice who often bullied others, and then as the sullen and withdrawn warrior with a temper. But few, if any, know the real Sagebristle- the one who knows it's easier to make others hate her for her actions rather than let them in and risk them hating who she is. The one who fears caring for anyone and being abandoned again. The one who questions why even her father wouldn't love her. All of that fear is buried underneath her antagonism, under her russet-tinged tabby pelt and angry amber eyes. Sagebristle is a good fighter, despite her permanently undersized frame, due to her speed and her willingness to use unconventional and underhanded tactics. Coupled with her intellect and perception, Sagebristle is a good warrior, but not an easy cat to be around.
History
Maia was born to a neglectful tomcat father in the city, and lived the first part of her life in isolation. Her days were spent waiting for her dad to remember to bring her food. He dropped in with friends from time to time, but despite his long absences and her constantly empty stomach, Maia was convinced that he was the best father in the world. After all, he was the only person who even cared a wink about her.
Maia was abandoned in clan territory by her father before she turned six moons old. She was taken in by Nightclan, where she resided unhappily, waiting for her father to return. After he never did, she joined the clan permanently, taking on the name Sagekit to try and forget the tom that abandoned her.
Sagekit's time in the nursery was marked by her anger issues and antagonism. She did not want friends, and she almost actively worked to make everyone dislike her. It was here that she met Moonkit, her future apprentice partner, and started their rivalry.
After her promotion, Sagepaw became hell-bent on graduating top of her class. Along the way, she slowly warmed up to Moonpaw, though their rivalry didn't die down. They both rapidly improved when they worked together, and were promoted into the Loyal Guard at the same time.
Sagebristle struggled during the invasion of Summerclan, since she had to follow orders she disagreed with. This, combined with the realization she was in love with Moonblight, threw her off entirely and she withdrew from her friendship with him while trying to process it.
They finally confessed their love and entered into a romantic relationship. For once, Sagebristle was happy, even as they lost Summerclan and returned to Nightclan. She was pregnant when Kier's takeover of Nightclan occurred, and she and Moonblight were separated as two of the more vocal opposers. She gave birth to three kits in her confinement, who were quickly taken away from her.
There was an incident when Sagebristle fell and hit her head, and when she awoke again she had no memories. Kier was the one to find her then, spinning a false history for her that she accepted. She returned to Nightclan and joined the Royal Guard while Moonblight was away on a mission, finding comfort and what she thought was romance with her former enemy.
Relationships
Moonblight - mate - achromatic
Moonblight and Sagebristle have a history that dates back to their kithood days, and after a rivals to friends journey, she found herself in love with him. She was nervous when she learned she was pregnant, but Kier's takeover made everything worse. She hasn't seen Moonblight in moons, and with her memories gone she doesn't remember him or their kits.
Kier - leader - fox Sagebristle hated Kier's guts, hated him for taking over Nightclan and destroying her home, but when she was injured to the point of losing her memory, he was the one to find her. He spun a false narrative, tricking her into trusting and caring for him.
Aspenstar - former leader - ian
Sagebristle respected Aspenstar because she was understanding of her situation and was accommodating and generally unbothered by her anger. However, she is angry at her for abandoning her, like all her other parental figures.
These two were the closest thing to guardians in Nightclan, and while she constantly disrespected them and their son, she also admired them and held them in high regard- for Sage, at least. However, both of them left her behind when they left Nightclan, reigniting old wounds of abandonment.
Foxstar - foster brother - ian
Sagebristle doesn't understand her foster brother half the time, as kind and pure as he is, but she loves him just the same. Not that she would admit to that, mind you, but anyone who hurt him would face the terror of Sagebristle's claws.
Hyenaprowl - friend? - bauble
They started off as frenemies, but became reluctant companions over time as Sagebristle grew up. Also born in the city like Sagebristle.

bio: Cornflake looks like his mother, Sagebristle, with his brown tabby fur and goldenrod eyes, but couldn't be less like her in terms of personality. Where she's anger and determination, he's optimism and laziness- their personalities converge on the key point of fierce loyalty to family. He and his siblings grew up in Kier's rein of Nightclan, torn from their mother and their father, Moonblight, and raised in a hellscape of suspicion and control. Cornflake turned to cheerfulness and calm as a defense mechanism to shield himself and his brother and sister from the worst of life's realities, and retained his playful, irresponsible nature even as he grew up. This medium-sized tom can't take anything seriously outside of protecting his family, cracking jokes and avoiding his responsibilities in favor of playing games and napping in the sun.
bio: Named at birth for her small size and beautiful coat of black and patches of orange, Nymphkit grew up to be far from the sweet, dainty cat her mother imagined her to be. From the moment her eyes opened, she was an explorer- she left camp on her own no less than ten times before she was promoted to apprentice. No amount of chastising from her mother or gentle admonishment from the warriors would sway her. While other kits played at fighting and hunting, Nymphkit dissected bugs and attempted to create scaled down models of camp. Her mother breathed a sigh of relief when she chose to become a Garden Keeper, believing a quiet life of tending plants would tame her daughter, but her hopes were soon dashed. Nymphpaw was wild, an exasperation to her mentor and the other adults, slipping out of lessons to go exploring or coming up with 'new' variations of plant-tending that was just as likely to kill the plants as it was to help them. Within a moon, she knew all of Summerclan's territory like the back of her paw- and better than others, too, with her tunnel exploration, lake swimming, and tree climbing. And while Nymphpaw was a handful, even her worn-out mentor had to admit that she was wickedly smart. Through trial and error, she refined her plant-tending tactics and improved several methods the Garden Keepers had been using. Even now, fully grown, Nymphflurry is a ball of energy. Always digging, building, crafting, she finds herself with a constant need to keep busy and experiment. She's still a pretty cat- medium in height and build, with fur that would be soft if she cleaned it more regularly and round green eyes that are always filled with mirth or inspiration. She sleeps and eats too little, getting lost in her ideas and spending extra hours traipsing across the territory. If you can track her down and keep up with her long enough to have a conversation, you'll find that she's a bit lost when it comes to social cues, in turn interrupting or rambling or lapsing into a thoughtful silence that means she isn't listening to what you're saying. It's not out of malice- Nymphflurry enjoys talking to other cats, so much so that she interjects herself into conversations around camp that have nothing to do with her. Rather, the energetic she-cat lives in her own world most of the time, where everyone is fascinated by plants and traps and fish in the river, just like she is.
