Ravenstone could often times be found patrolling the borders these days, sometimes with others and sometimes by herself. Today in particular she had brought her son, Lupinepaw to patrol with her but sent him off to go hunting once they finished patrolling the Springclan border and she headed towards the colder border where Winterclan could be found. She was slightly anxious and nervous about the fact that the other clans had been so quiet through everything and the last thing Summerclan needed was problems while they were still getting back on their feet. Everything seemed to be teetering on the table and Summerclan was in rough condition and as the deputy she had no idea how to help or what to do. She had recently miscarried her second litter after her mates disappearance on top of the famine and sickness that tore through Summerclan. It may have been Starclan's will as now she could take in Snowkit in absence of her mother who died during the kitting but the jet black she-cat felt like the entire world was on the shoulders of Froststar and herself and they were trying to piece together a broken clan.
Fogeye himself was not the type to partake on border patrols. Rather, the tom was a prison guard. Expected most oftenly in the camp to do his specific job. Guard the prisoners and be sure that they do not escape. A simple job, but one could easily grow tired of being in camp all day, and wish for fresh air. He had chosen to go closer towards SummerClan, where the clans all met in the middle area. It seemed that it would be the area less likely he would run into someone that might accidentally ruin his ‘alone’ time.
As the grey tom made his way across the lands, the cool breeze snipping at his furs, he walked in silence. Not unusual for him, as often times he was a cat of few words anyhow. He slowly felt his muscles relaxing, and his ears swiveling forward. Fogeye took in a deep breath as he neared the gathering area, a place that was usually always vacant.

Withought thinking, the she-cat's paws carried her towards the gathering place for the clans. Something about it had a peaceful aura that drew her in and wrapped her in it's comfort. Perhaps Starclan's presence is stronger here, she thought, comforted by the idea. For so long it felt as if their starry ancestors had abandoned them, as if Summerclan was no long under their watch or protection and felt differently in her own territory for far longer than she realized. It was quiet and the world seemed eerily still and everything felt like she was supposed to be there the whole time and she sighed, sitting near a mostly dead bush and looking up at the sky with her big gray eyes, unaware of the cat entering the clearing just then.
He lifted his head. A scent carried on the wind, was that... SummerClan? The half-blind tom narrowed his eyes. His body was tense as he was suddenly moving forward pressed to the ground. He wondered then, would this cat be aggressive? Fogeye, always ready for a fight. A growl rumbling in his throat.

Lost in her own thought, Ravenstone did not notice the tom at first until she heard a low growl somewhere nearby. She snapped to attention, eyes wide and ears perked, scanning the area for the source of the noise. "I know you are there. Show yourself." She demanded loudly and confidently, her black hackles raised as she prepared to potentially be attacked. Unfortunately she was upwind and could not catch any scents. She assumed it was another cat and a clan cat at that. What was anyone else doing here at this time?
Of course you know I’m here... Fogeye found himself rolling his eyes at the feline’s words. The prison guard flexed his claws, she was a small cat compared to him. Fogeye was estimating her to be quick, but he was strong. His muscles tense, the gray tom slid from the undergrowth, his belly brushing the earth.

Ravenstone flexed her paws and listened carefully to the area around her, hoping to hear something as she could not scent anything. Her ear twitched as she heard something off to the side and she managed to catch a glimpse of the large grey cat nearby. She hissed and stood her ground with claws unsheathed. "I'm not interesting in fighting. We are in a place meant for peace." She truly did not want to fight but needed to protect herself and her territory. She would not be humiliated and as a cat recovering from recent starvation and desperation with a kit awaiting her return would make her more of a fierce contender than she already was.
Eyes narrowed, he finally pushed himself to stand and eyed the female before him. “Why are you here?” He truly thought he would be the only cat to venture here when there was no full moon. He had obviously been wrong, and was now faced with a cat... the scent that she gave off seemed to be.. SummerClan. The complete polar opposite of his own clan. Joy.... His face seemed to twist slightly , expression being clear that he wasn’t the most welcoming of cats.

She eyed him suspicious, her grey eyes never once blinking or leaving him. "I do not need to explain myself to you. This area is not owned by any clan." Her voice was steady and firm and was a combination of her deputy voice and mom voice. "As I said before, I have no desire for violence." She sat down once again and unsheathed her claws but never truly relaxed before the tom. She caught a whiff of his scent only to discover he was Winterclan, the hardest cats in the world to deal with. Wonderful.
"Why are you here?" It was a bit of a retort and she did not truly expect an answer.
“I suppose if you can’t answer me, I cannot answer you.” Fogeye snorted. She would get what she gave. Sturbborn SummerClan. What cats actually liked the hot summer anyways? A cool breeze shifted across the area, branches creaking above them. Fogeye stood there, tail tip twitching as he was rigid.

Ravenstone shivered slightly at the cool breeze, suddenly remembering the tales elders told her kits about how Winterclan cat's had hearts as cold as the winter they were named for. She could not speak to its truth but it wasn't impossible.
"I suppose that's fair," Was her reply. She felt awkward suddenly, should she leave and find somewhere else or wait for him to go away? She wasn't sure if it was stubbornness or patience that kept her paws glued to the floor but she let her hackles fall back in place. If he was going to attack her, he probably would have already done so.
He waited a few moments, the silence spreading between the two. The only sounds were the creaking branches, until finally his pawsteps crunched rather lightly in the snow. Fogeye was making his way towards the feline, his face gruff looking as he did so. It was then that the light caught his cloudy eye, instantly giving away the fact he was blind in it. His scars even seemed to shimmer. The tom sat a few taillengths away from the she-cat, but didn’t look at her. Not yet.

She noticed his eye and scars but did not comment. Such things were common among clan cats and his were not the worst she had ever seen. "Ravenstone." She told him proudly. She was quite fond of her name and she wore it like a badge, a badge that showed where her loyalties lay since it was recognizable enough as a clan deputy.
"What is your name?" She asked in return, genuinely curious. Winterclan cats always had cool and cold names which was quite the opposite of her clan who gave much warmer and friendlier names. Then again, if it had been winterclan who found the she-cat shivering and half drowned by the river as a kit she was almost certain they would have left her to die.
As she spoke her name, he could see where she had gained the prefix from. Fogeye shifted his weight slightly, his eyes looking to the skies. “Fogeye.” It was obvious why his name was what it was. No cat could mistake it. It was sort of a curse, but all in the same, he didn’t mind either. He could still remember what it was like to have sight in both eyes, though.
Fogeye breathed in slowly. Oddly enough, the SummerClan scent seemed sweet. That was something he had never noticed before. Another wind rushed through the area, an icy sharp cold.

Ravenstone fluffed her fur as much as she could but did not have much protection, even with her winter coat. She shivered as another icy sharp cold blew past. "How do you Winterclan cats withstand this cold all the time? I'm freezing just from the wind." Summerclan territory became chilly for leaf-fall but Winterclan lived high up where the cold never ceased. She had noticed many of them had long, fluffy pelts but Fogeye did not seem to share that trait. That was something she did not envy those cats for. No wonder their hearts were declared to be cold and cruel.
He couldn’t help but let a small smirk fall along his lips. It was almost amusing, that the others could not handle a simple winter. He turned to look at the feline and rolled his shoulders in a shrug as he did so. “We are used to it. Just as you are used to this mild leafbare weather. It isn’t that cold here, but to you it’s terrible, eh? You cats thrive in green leaf.”

Ravenstone noticed his smirk but did not comment on it. She could probably say something similar to a Winterclan warrior during the heat of green-leaf. "I suppose you're right about that. It just seems unbearable. You must have awfully thick pelts." The last part she murmured to herself. All cats grew winter coats but it took some time for certain and then you had to shed it. "I hope the prey is running well for Winterclan, nonetheless." She added politely. What else would she talk to a Winterclan warrior about? Prey? Shared intruders? Could she really have something in common with the grey tom?
[ *This is the exact moment Anora realized they should have picked a more interesting starter to give them something to talk about* ]
Another wind cut through the air, this time cold enough to slice even at Fogeye’s furs. The tom twitched his ear, then sniffed the air. “We need to find shelter. There’s not enough time for us to go back to our camps. It’s about to become a snow storm.” He turned to look at her, his eyes as serious as they came. Then, snow began to fall. Slowly, for the moment.

Ravenstone sniffed the air at his words. She could detect something off in the air and it was snowing. "I think you're right. Come over this way, there is an old hollowed log just inside Summerclan territory we can shelter in for the time being." It wasn't often she would give a warrior from another clan permission to step onto Summerclan territory but figured this was certainly a good enough exception.
"Follow me," she prompted him with her tail and moved quickly as the snow began to fall, littering her black fur with white speckles that almost looked like a start night.
It was ironic. One would guess that the SummerClan cat would be the one to offer shelter in their own territory. Not a WinterClan cat, perhaps for fear of repercussions from their leader. Fogeye huffed softly before shaking out his coat and trotting after Ravenstone. He didn’t have much choice, and it seemed with each stride they took, the snow was falling even faster, and the wind was picking up force. This storm... it was going to be bad.
