Ravenstone glanced up at the sky with worry in her grey eyes. She hoped that Snowkit wasn't missing her too much and that everyone in the clan was safely tucked away from the storm or on their way home. Who would have thought that the summerclan deputy would end up taking cover with a winterclan tom, quite frankly if someone had said that to her this morning she would have sent them to Graythorns den without hesitation.
They reached the hollow but sturdy tree before long. Fortunately, there was enough space for two cats but their fur would almost certainly brushed if either of them moved and she wasn't exactly sure how to feel about that.
Fogeye was obviously very concentrated. He kept sniffing the air, ears swiveling. A technique and training that had been given to every WinterClan cat. He was attempting to tell how long the storm might last, but it was unknown. Grunting he gave up and followed quickly after Ravenstone. Upon reaching the place, he motioned for her to go first. Once she was inside he slipped in next to her, bending so that he was close to the ground and his paws tucked under himself. “We’ll be here a while..”

Ravenstone sat with her paws tucked in neatly and her tail curled over them as she watched the snow fall just outside. The flakes were getting bigger and falling faster, she had never really seen anything quite like it, weather like this in Summerclan was practically unheard of. "Do storms like this happen often farther up the mountain? We don't usually get leaf-bare storms." Sure they got rainstorms and thunderstorms but this was an entirely different monster that chilled her to the bone and made her shiver in her own fur. His words did not give her hope, she would probably freeze to death before this storm let up at this rate.
“Yes, but often times worse.” He explained lightly, his eyes turning towards her. Often times cats would avoid his gaze, due to feeling awkward from his cloudy sightless eye. His seeing eye observed her carefully, his mind seeming to have thoughts flowing, but saying nothing on them. Silence followed. Finally he broke away his gaze, murmuring softly,”You’ll be fine.” Despite the fact she hadn’t said anything about not being fine

She blinked at him a few times. "Of course I'll be fine," She mewed stubbornly but not unkindly. After all, there were cats awaiting her return so she didn't have a say in the matter she had to be fine. She chuckled softly to herself as she remembered a game her son came up with when he experienced his first snowfall and she gazed back outside fondly. "Do you want to play a game?" She asked, a glint of mischievousness in her grey eyes that hinted at her young age and true nature. He didn't get it from no where after all.
“A game?” His deep voice sounded a bit odd to those words. The prison guard raised a single brow as he looked to her. What in the world was she speaking of? Fogeye grunted lightly before speaking once more. “What type of game did you have in mind, SummerClan Warrior?”

She laughed lightly at his confusion and clear lack of familiarity with the concept of a game. "It was something my son thought up when he was a tiny kit. The point is to draw a snowflake and get as many points and as many gaps as possible." It was simple and could hardly be called a game but it would be better than the inevitable and heavy silence that would have fallen over them otherwise. She could think of better games, but they required a little more mobility than the tree had to offer them.
Her laugh crowded the make-shift den. It was melodic, and he couldn’t escape the gentle sound it gave. He ignored the odd feeling that suddenly swelled in his chest. Especially when she spoke of ‘her son’. She has a mate then. Not that it mattered. She was a SummerClan cat, anyways, right? He grunted mentally, no sound actually being made. He then looked to her, and motioned. “Show me.”

She nodded and extended a claw, drawing careful and calculated lines. "The idea is for your snowflake to be clearly visible, although I admit it's much easier in the harder soil of leaf-bare." The patient she-cat took her time and was left with a rather large snowflake with tiny little points. "After this, I would put a pattern in the middle and make it look nice." She demonstrated and looked down at the snowflake outline, a cloud of pain and sorrow filling her eyes for a brief moment as she remembered how her and Dragonrage would sit and do this with their kits not that long ago. She shook the thoughts away and looked at him with a deep and expectant look. Now was not the time to grieve over her lost mate, he was gone and there was no bringing him back.
The tom watched her claw carefully. He followed each turn it made, observing every intricate detail she put into the small drawing. It started out as nothing but marks, but when she had finished it was actually quite a good representation of a snow flake. Fogeye had to admit, he was rather impressed by it. “That looks beautiful.” It was an unexpected compliment, and upon feeling her gaze on him, looked up to meet it. His gaze seemed just as unwavering as hers, seeing much in her eyes. Was that.. pain? His brows furrowed, and he found himself asking a question before he even realized it. “Are you okay?”

She nodded and looked down at the snowflake. "I'm alright, I was just remembering someone who died a while ago." She at the very least presumed him to be dead. He vanished without a trace and he would have never abandoned her, not without saying something first at the very least. "I lost my mate earlier this year," She added after a few moments, "But, he walks among the stars and I know he is not alone." Ravenstone allowed herself to think about it for a brief moment longer before shaking her fur slightly although it likely could have been mistaken as another one of her long shivers.
"Sorry if I spoiled your mood." She apologized gently, not that he seemed to have been in an incredibly amazing or happy mood to begin with.
Ah. So perhaps she didn’t have one, but what did that matter? Fogeye had never been particularly interested in any of the cats in his clan, so why would a cat outside of his clan be any different? Plus, the two were likely nothing alike. Even down to their fur structures. Of which had just brushed against him when she shook hers out. Ravenstone really didn’t have a thick coat, not like himself. She must be freezing... Pushing aside the alarms in his head, he pressed his furs against her. They were short, but very thick. “You must be cold.” The subject change was nice. He didn’t much care for another being upset...
He then looked down to the ground and began to etch his claw into the hard earth, beginning his own snow flake.

Despite him being practically a stranger and technically an enemy warrior, she took comfort in his warmth and gave a large shiver as he pressed his fur against hers. His fur was so warm and thick that it started helping almost immediately. Her fur felt warm and she hiccuped nervously, an old habit of hers come to bite her back in the tail, apparently. She wasn't really sure what to say so she watched him draw his own snowflake thoughtfully. She glanced up at him as he drew and a realization passed over her, for being a Winterclan warrior he seemed to be unusually gentle in his own way. On top of that, she could tell he was a prison guard by the purposeful scars on his body that so often signified a Prison Guard. She had only heard rumors and stories of what they endured to earn their positions and the Summerclan cat could not help but feel a bit of admiration, it took a lot of loyalty to endure such pain for your clan.
Fogeye could feel her gaze on his fur. It made his ears itch, but he ignored the odd sensation. Instead he focused on the drawing. Once he was finished he lifted his head and leaned back a little to get a better overall look. His was larger, but didn’t have as much detail as hers. It had more points, but less space in between. It seemed almost like a pine tree, or perhaps the signification of danger. It was not as soft and beautiful as Ravenstone’s.
He gave a half smile. Then lowered himself to lay down, eyes staring out of the make shift den. “You should rest. The sun has set. We’ll be here all night.”

She looked away, a bit embarrassed as she realized she had been staring and looked down with a smile. "I like your snowflake. It's very nice." She said warmly, glancing at her own. She liked hers but his was better. The she-cat stared for just a few moments longer before nodding and laying down as well. He was right, they should rest. Hopefully the snow would not spill into the tree and it would stop by morning. She rested her head on her front paws and looked forward, suddenly feeling very aware of her surroundings as her fur prickled. Would she be able to sleep in this den next to him? She wondered but her paws felt heavy and full of exhaustion, she had been on the dawn patrol this morning so she was extra weary.
"What a shame, I had so many plans." She mused with a soft purr.
It was only growing colder. The wind not kept out enough in such a shelter, and soon he could see her shivering. SummerClan cats were not built for such storms. Their furs light for the hot they endured in their own territory. His eyes watched her carefully for a few moments, the sight pricking his heart. Something was compelling him to be too nice, too... close. Fogeye had attempted to ignore it, but soon he couldn’t. The thick coated tom shifted, then stood. He shook out his coat, fluffing up his furs as much as he could manage. Once he had done that he lowered himself down and curled his larger frame around her dark one. It would be instant warmth for her. He was tense, unaware if she might fight it, his muscles rippling uneasily.

Ravenstone could not stop her shivering. As time drew on, she could only feel her shivers becoming larger and wracking her whole body. She had said she would be fine but a flicker of worry passed over her heart. Normally during a storm like this, all of Summerclan would sleep in the warriors den, even the queens, kits, and apprentices, to be sure that every cat received the appropriate warmth but she did not have clannates to rely on out here and she worried for her kits and for snowkit, trusting Soulmadness who was the only other queen to look after her adopted daughter.
When the warrior curled around her, almost protectively it was like she was suddenly wrapped in a blanket of warmth and her head lifted to look at him. She blinked at him gratefully before leaning into him slightly. She didn't know a cat could be so warm, especially during this weather. It did not take long before her wrecking shivers began to ebb away and she let a brief and very soft purr of gratitude.
Upon hearing the purr that lifted from the feline’s throat, he found himself slowly letting his muscles relax. A sigh pushed from his own lips as he listened to the sound of her purrs. In truth, he wasn’t sure if another cat had ever made that sound intentionally towards something he had done. Then again, he wasn’t the nicest of cats either. So why was he being so kind to her? His one good eye observed her as she seemed to relax into his embrace as well. The small figure was now engraved in his mind, a moment he might never forget. No cat would ever believe that he was doing this back in the clan. They’d laugh and say he was not capable of compassion.
Perhaps none of them had been able to pull out this side of him. Perhaps they were also as cold as he, and only the warmth from a SummerClan cat’s heart could manage it. Perhaps only Ravenstone could. What are you doing to me? I hardly know you. In truth, it scared him.

[ My heart is oozing he's so precious, ]
Ravenstone felt exhausted and the warmth did not help anything. He was big, soft and warm and it lulled her into a deep sleep she didn't think she would be capable of. It was like being wrapped in the warm embrace of someone you had not seen in moons or were rekindlng a friendship with. She had never met this warrior but already knew that she was in debt to him but for now they slept as if they were clanmates in their den. For the first time in a while, it was a peaceful and dreamless sleep.
The jet black she-cat blinked her grey eyes rapidly as sunlight streamed in, filling the log they had spent the night in. She opened her mouth in a deep yawn and let her head drop on her paws as she tried to wake herself up. She felt strangely refreshed and warm.
Fogeye has left long before the feline had awakened. Her thoughts could lead to the possibility of him leaving her alone. Abandoning her without a word, he was a WinterClan cat, after all. They were all cold and heartless, right? Perhaps. Not Fogeye. Something had warmed his heart and cracked away the ice that had kept it a prisoner for so long. Something that was warm, and kind, even with a simple gaze. Fogeye perhaps, had fallen too quickly. Fallen for a cat he hardly knew, but a cat that had never seen him as she had so far. At least... perhaps he hoped?
The wind whistled, but, still. She was alone. Would she wait to see if he returned, or go home without a second thought?
