Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
She shrugged. "No. Not many defectors make it this far. Making it here means crossing a desert. Most die somewhere along the way." The Huntress flicked her ears dismissively. "Now that I've told you about me, why don't you tell me about yourself?"
He was taken aback by the question. "What about me?" he asked. "I honestly don't have much to tell you about." He didn't want to get too personal with her, especially considering they just met. "If you ask specific questions, though, I may be able to answer them."
Hmm...I thought I answered that earlier. Maybe not, he thought to himself before answering. "Well, I guess I was curious. Not many cat comes through here since it this place still has the faint scent of twolegs. Besides, I'm trying not to be as hostile as I was before." he responded. He looked away brieflyJeez, I really must be changing.
There it was. All it took was a little bit of prodding and talking about herself to get here. "Hmm... you said 'as I was before'." She lowered her head and rested it over her paws. "Now, what was before? Have you always been on your own? "
He shook his head. "No. I once had a travel companion but he's been long gone though." He didn't want to share their name just in case she might try to use them against him if something went bad. He didn't quite trust her enough just yet.
"Well, please be more specific. Long gone as in dead, or did you leave him?" She knew the tom's companion probably didn't know who she hunted, but it was worth a shot. Worst case scenario she knew another name.
He shrugged."He's no longer traveling with me. Last time I saw him, he went and joined one of the clans. But for all I know, he could have gone off and got killed by a fox." She seemed to be fishing for information, but Link refused to give any more details about Asher.
"One of the Clans? So, why didn't you join him? You seem like a team player, so that wouldn't be an issue. Maybe something else... freedom, perhaps. " She knew that one all too well. She spent time in the Clans herself, and she just couldn't move as she pleased. There was simply no time.
He shrugged again. "That life's just not for me, I guess. Yeah it could be that I like the freedom to make my own decisions and move how I want," he explained. "What gives you the impression I'm a team player? Because I'm being nice?" he asked skeptically.
"Well, yeah. As I've said before, you don't have the mean streak that every rogue I've ever met has. I'd say that's enough to be a team player, or at least tolerate being on a team." She chuckled. "You know, I've heard one of these clans does move around a bit. The name escapes me, but they move around."
"Should have met me a little while ago," he said with a chuckle, "But I suppose cats change over time." He looked at her quizzically. "I don't think I've heard of that one before. Know anything about them other than that they move around?"
Met him before? How much had the tom changed. She shrugged. "Not much. They formed around some outcast near the Regime. I'm not sure what his name was... anyway, they may have moved on by now, but maybe not. I never had an interest in them."
"The Regime? What's that," he asked. He hadn't stuck around long enough to find about all of the groups there were but he only knew about SummerClan. And Winter, but that was a place he tried to forget.
"A rather large group of cats to the west of here. They claim territory in some tundra or something like that, but they control a network of tunnel systems." She'd never been there herself. The Huntress more knew of them. The she-cat had never entered natural tunnels like they did. Sewers? Sure, but never any caves beyond where she could see sunlight. "I don't know much else."
He shrugged. "Oh well. The chances of me encountering them are slim to none anyway. The cold isn't for me." Listening for the sound of the rain, it appeared to be dying down. "Storm seems to have mostly passed by now, if that was what you were waiting," he mentioned
She flicked her ears. "Hmpf. You and me both." She went into the desert and not south into the forest for a reason. She lived in the city before, and understood its harsh winters. It wasn't something she was particularly fond of. She noticed the rain had begun to taper off a while ago, but she didn't care. They were having a good conversation, and the day was just about over. "I can wait. If you don't mind, I'll set up camp here for the night."
Link was surprised at her statement. She actually wanted to stick around? "I-I don't mind at all," he stuttered out. He cursed himself for fumbling with his words like he did. "You can set up anywhere you'd like," he offered her.
"Great." She didn't really care if he said yes. From what she had seen the tom was not the kick-people-out type. She walked to her spot underneath the broken window and lay down. "How long has it been since you had a guest?"
He shrugged. "I sort of stopped keeping track of that kind of thing, if that tells you something. I dont really mind it anyways." At least that's how it was before. "You sure do ask a lot of questions for someone just 'passing through"," he joked. It didnt bother him at all; it's just been a long time since he had an extended conversation like this. "How about you? You ever have a companion with you, at least for a little while?"
