Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The light of the moon high in the sky cast shadows in the darkness that blanketed the earth, it was a peaceful night and a soft breeze fluttered through the air as life in Moonclan stirred with life. Lambpaw sat outside of the medicine cats den, his new home now that he was training as a medicine cat apprentice, the curly furred tom looked around camp his brownish grey eyes taking everything in as his clanmates moved about in the shadows. Standing, he made his way across camp and poked his head into the nursery to check that the queens and kits were alright before continuing on to the entrance, slipping out into the open and disappearing. The small statured tom smiled and slowed his pace as his eyes gazed up toward the star filled sky.
"Hello, there" came an eerily sweet voice. Out of the shadows, a beautiful she-cat with fur of fire stood before the medicine cat apprentice. She had cold turquoise eyes and a long scar running diagonal across her muzzle. She didnt smell of Moonclan. In fact, she had many different smells clinging to her ginger fur but the strongest was Nightclan. The she-cat breathed in and hummed as she exhaled. "You smell like a medicine cat" she commented. "Quite small to be a medicine cat. I'd say your the apprentice, right?"
Lambpaw lowered his head so his eyes settled on the strange she-cat, he showed no signs of cowering or running as she spoke to him. "I am, who are you?" He kept his gaze trained on her flame colored form, knowing he would need to be careful and ready to defend himself if things went wrong.
"Surprised you dont recognize me. Surely you've heard of me" the ginger she-cat rolled her shoulders and began to slowly pace. "Perhaps I should refresh your memory. My name is Flamingsoul, previously called Flame. Doing anything for you, yet? Does it ring a bell?"
The curly furred apprentice tilted his head in thought but shook his head when nothing came to mind. "Nope, you are nothing more than a stranger to me, a stranger who is somewhere they don't belong." He truly did not know who she was, or why she seemed to think he should. He lifted his head a little higher as he watched her, something about the she-cat gave him an uneasy feeling but he wouldn't let her see that.
She let out an evil laugh. "Oh darling, but I do belong here. Not only am I Moonclan blood but Silverstar agreed to allow me to roam anywhere I please on his territory." She began circling the tom. "I'm surprised you dont know me. I'm kind of a...well, popular. I am the cat who betrayed her clan for Primal Instinct and survived her escape from the league, then became deputy of Nightclan! It's only just a matter of time before I become leader." Her lips curled into a wicked smile as she halted beside the tom. She ran her tail along his back. "Your a feisty one, I can tell. That's good. It makes you strong."
Lamb paws eyes followed Flamingsoul as she circled him, if she was of Moonclan blood then did that mean she had betrayed the clan he called home or was it perhaps a clan she was in after leaving here... shaking away the thoughts buzzing through his mind he focused his full attention on her once more. "Why would Silverstar give you permission to roam freely here? Blood or not you are no longer a Moonclan cat." His voice remained calm, even as he felt her tail trail down his back. He would not allow this wondering deputy to intimidate him. "You're right, I am strong, you dont scare me."
"Well, he kind of didnt have a choice" she chuckled. "You see, when you have leverage on someone, they would be willing do anything you say. I stole a kit from Moonclan and in exchange for the kit, I wanted to be able to come and go as I please. So he agreed." She stood in front of the medicine cat apprentice once more, looking down at him with a smile. "Scare you?" She chuckled again. "I wasn't trying to scare you, though it wouldnt hurt for you to feel a bit intimidated. After all, I've killed before. But dont worry, I'm not here to kill you. I'm here to offer you a deal."
He could feel the beginnings of a growl rumbling deep in his chest as the Nightclan deputy spoke on, the fact that she suggested he should feel at least slight intimidation gave him more reason not to, he would not cower in fear in front of a cat who turned their back on their home.
He lifted his head so his pale muddy eyes met her gaze. "What deal might that be?" He had no interest in bargaining with the she-cat, but was no less curious as to what she wanted from him seeing as he was merely an apprentice.
"Forgive me for answering your question with another question but what is a medicine cat if they cant defend themselves, right?" she responded with a widening grin. "What do you think if I offered to teach you some very unique battle Techniques? Ones that will blow the minds of your fellow Moonclan members! You'd be a one of a kind medicine cat."
"Accept training from a traitor and killer, that doesnt seem too smart, besides, what would be in it for you?" He may be young but he wasn't foolish enough to believe she wouldnt want something in return, and he wanted to know what it was. Her offer intriguing as it may be was not something he would accept so lightly, he yearned for knowledge, yet his distrust towards Flamingsoul made it easier to refrain.
She giggled, "humm, yes. What is a deal without a trade? Let's just say, when the time comes, you'll one day owe me a favor." She looked at him with her intense turquoise eyes, awaiting his decision with anticipation.
The small Tom's tail flicked back and forth, he did not like the look in her eyes, the hidden request she would one day call upon him for if he accepted but still he was curious of what she could teach him that he couldn't learn from one of his clanmates. "Forgive me for delaying, but you see, I dont trust you. I'll need time to think about your offer before I accept it, as for the favor I would owe you, I'm going to need more details as to what that may be. I dont like going into something such as this without knowing." He turned to face her as he spoke, his eyes showing just how serious he was despite his vulnerable and innocent appearance.
"Well, you see, I dont entirely know what I want from you yet, little one. It will be a matter of time that I decide I need that favor. As for you taking time to think on it, I get it. I've made my mistakes." Flamingsoul answered, sitting and wrapping her tail neatly around her paws. "How about you go home and get some rest. Meet me, here, tomorrow at moon high and give me your answer then."
The apprentice nodded, he had not thought it would be so easy but was pleased he would have time to think about his answer as he was currently going back and forth on what he should do and what he wanted. "I'll meet you here, I have to collect some things before I can go back though, will you be remaining in the area?" He would not tell her to leave, but wanted to know if she would be wondering around so he would not be surprised if he came across her again.
He nodded, dipping his slightly to the Nightclan deputy. "Right, tomorrow then." Turning, he walked away from the she-cat until the shadows swallowed him.
Flamingsoul made her way into Moonclan territory, scenting the strong markers as she crossed over. A patrol must have been there recently but no one was in sight. A cold night breeze whistled through the trees and ruffled her fiery pelt causing her to give a little shudder. Leafbare was just around the corner and she was not looking forward to providing for a whole clan over that time. She finally arrived at the place she had asked Lambpaw to meet her.
Lambpaw was gazing up at the sky, he had spent most of the day and night before mulling over his meeting with the Nightclan deputy and giving thought to the offer she had made him. It had been a hard decision to make and he had changed his mind countless times before finally deciding what he would tell her, letting out a sigh he stood and made his way to the very spot he would be seeing her again tonight. Flamingsouls scent drifted around him before he could see her, telling him that she was already waiting for him. "Hello Flamingsoul." He greeted as he stepped out of the darkness, his dark cream pelt glowing grey under the moons light.
