Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Ragingspire glanced over at Sootstep and broke out laughing again. The dark gray tom shot them a questioning look; then his face hardened and he stalked past them, picking up the pace to disappear into the approaching woods ahead of them. Jealousy burned low in his stomach and he fought to ignore it. It wasn't his place to be jealous of her either, but it was hard when she'd just made it very clear she was perfectly fine talking to anyone but him. What had he ever done to deserve this? He'd tried to be nice to her, he'd tried to be fair, he'd even cuddled with her for StarClan's sake, and now she had to pretend like it never happened. He tried to get along and she just turned a cold shoulder on him and hung out with someone else. Fine. Fine, he didn't need her either. Ragingspire used to be his friend but that was clearly done now, so he'd have to find someone else.
The bronze tom let the other warrior stomp off. "Now that I'd give up fresh-kill for a moon to see," he chortled. "I know Sunfrog can flirt, but can you imagine watching him try and flirt back? The guy can hardly talk to his own shadow."

lalala turning this into the adventure, just gonna ditch ragingspire. i'll make him 'go get help' but they bounce before he gets back xD also "he'd even cuddled with her for starclan's sake is just their entire relationship mood
Dawnmemories looked furious at the very thought, "well Sunfrog should try harder to be more professional. You can't honestly like seeing a warrior of SummerClan acting so childish?!" The red cat watched Sootstep stomp off and growled softly. He was so impossible! Why did she try so hard with him? Time and time and time again.

Banepaw had left WinterClan that morning, curious about the other clans. When his siblings and him had been found on WinterClan's border he'd accepted that that was all he'd ever know. But as he got older he couldn't help but wonder, was his mother out there still? Looking for them perhaps? It had encouraged him to cross borders, looking for her, and today he'd crossed into SummerClan territory. Banepaw had never met a SummerClan cat but he'd been told they were soft, untrained. WinterClan were true warriors, the others just glorified kittypets.
So imagine his embarrassment when gotten stuck in a blackberry bush, his long fur matted in the fuzzy plant hopelessly. His paws stung from him batting at the plant and he'd managed to yank his fur so hard his skin was stinging.
i forgot he was even in this thread xD everyone knows hate cuddles don't count as cuddling!!!
Ragingspire considered if he ought to tell her about the 'incident' where he and the then-deputy threw one of their clanmates out of a tree and broke his ribs, but decided it was better he keep that secret to himself. He still thought his actions were heroic given the circumstances, but if Dawnmemories didn't consider him childish he wasn't about to correct her. "Maybe she should, we can't have that many fools in this clan or nobody will take us seriously," he agreed with a mirthful twitch of his whiskers.
It was a miracle that Sootstep could even focus long enough to catch the scent of the intruder, and when he did he almost didn't believe it. The scent of the plant made for a good disguise, but the reek of WinterClan was hard to cover up. The dark gray tom slowed his angry pacing away from the group and raised his muzzle, inhaling deeply before he started to track the scent.

Dawnmemories flicked her ears in irritation, sure that Ragingspire wasn't taking her anger seriously. Why even bother talking to him? She didn't even bother responding, she just stomped through the undergrowth. Then she spotted Sootstep padding away and rolled her eyes, probably smelled Sunfrog and went to flirt some more.
But then the scent hit her and she froze, her tail touched Ragingspire to tell him to stop as well, "WinterClan." Those nasty cats were bad news and Dawnmemories felt her claws unsheathe as she glanced around, "okay, I can't tell how many there are. Ragingspire, perhaps you ought to get some backup? I'll follow Sootstep." Without waiting for a reply she set off briskly after the tom, anger melting into focused aggression as she walked.
-
Banepaw was in so much pain, he sliced a paw pad open on a sharp walk as he scrambled around in the bush. "Owwww," he couldn't help but mewl, voice thin and afraid.
Ragingspire halted at her touch and nodded once at the order, failing to suppress a yawn. "Yup. Got it. Nervous yawner," he assured her, though she didn't seem to be listening. The bronze tom shook out his toes to loosen his muscles, turned, and raced for camp.
He lowered into a crouch as he neared, slinking carefully down the bushes hiding the cat, but an 'ow' caught his ear and he paused again. There was only one cat here, and he sounded young... the poignant reek of blood filled his nostrils and he shook his head. He glanced back to see Dawnmemories had joined him and shifted closer so he could whisper to her, animosity forgotten in the tense moment. "I'm going to confront him. If it's an ambush then go get back up," he murmured softly. It didn't sound like a real threat, but it could be a trap, and the clan couldn't afford for both of them to fall into it. The dark gray tom straightened up and stepped out toward the bush, circling round to face the young apprentice.

nervous yawner? i lowkey love ragingspire
Dawnmemories nodded at Sootstep's words, though she thought perhaps he should be the one to run. He was faster after all. Still, she stood tensed and ready as her companion stepped towards the bush. Blood scent hung thick in the air and she wasn't entirely sure there was anything to worry about here after all.
-
Banepaw yelped at the voice and frantically tried to get free, squeaking from the pain as he did so. He was a moron, he thought, an absolute idiot. He was stuck in a berry bush in enemy territory like an idiotic kit. The young cat scrambled desperately for a few seconds more before sagging, forehead pressed against the ground and muttered, "yes."
-
Dawnmemories was now sure there was no danger from this cat so she slunk off to do a quick check of the area before padding up beside Sootstep with a firm look in her eyes, she tried not to feel sorry for the enemy cat.
Sootstep remained a healthy distance awake, studying the situation carefully with hooded eyes. He didn't move an inch closer until the other warrior was at his side again, affirming they were alone and this truly was just a lot apprentice, and even then the focused beat of his heart didn't falter. "He's tangled in the bush, and see that tendril there? He was trying to pull his foreleg free, but he was just getting that one more wrapped around his hind leg instead," he murmured in her ear, thoughtful. "We could set him out... or interrogate him here."

Dawnmemories looked at Sootstep in surprise, voice equally as soft as she responded, "interrogate him, about what?" He was obviously young and scared and the she-cat almost stepped forward instinctively to help, but Sootstep didn't and she decided to hear him out. Perhaps he was aware of danger she was not.
-
Banepaw yelped again, why weren't they helping him? Was he going to die tangled in this stupid bush? These were warriors, they should assist him! They were right about SummerClan, just a clan full of two-faced foxes. It was disgusting to him. "Please," he meowed, voice now close to a growl, "this hurts!"
"Well, what's he doing all the way down here? He could be a spy, or have some secret info about the clan's plans." Saying it out loud made him feel a little silly. What clan would send a bumbling apprentice all the way down the mountain just to get stuck in a bush? Every SummerClan kit knew to be careful around thorny branches, yet here was a 'paw who had fallen right into the trap. But he couldn't think of a good reason for Banepaw to be here either, so far from home and so alone.

Dawnmemories considered this a moment before nodding and padding up to the apprentice, tail lashing in a disapproving manner. "We'll get you out," she meowed, ignoring the apprentice's sigh of relief, "after you answer a few questions." The red warrior didn't feel very good about this, but she did want to ensure this wasn't a trap or that this apprentice had been sent here for any nefarious reason. She turned and gestured to Sootstep to go ahead with it.
-
Banepaw growled, ears flat back, in distress at this. "Okay, okay, but this hurts!" The small apprentice struggled again and Dawnmemories snapped, "then stay still." He listened, stilling immediately, and looked at Sootstep pitifully.
He watched her near the apprentice, gaze narrowing, but to his surprise... she trusted him. Sootstep stared at her for a moment, his face blank with shock before he tentatively nodded and stepped up beside her. "Okay, listen here," he began, crouching down in front of the young cat, "answer quickly and honestly and we'll get you out of here without any more trouble. Lie to me and you'll regret it, understand?" He paused a moment, then went on. "Why are you in SummerClan?"

Banepaw's eyes were wide and nervous as he stared at the warriors, surprised by their behavior. "I'm here just to look," he answered, knowing that that was not enough to convince him. And the face of the she-cat looked skeptical, causing him to try again, "I'm looking for my mom, okay? I don't know what clan she belongs in."
-
Dawnmemories looked from the apprentice to Sootstep, surprised by his statement. It seemed like an odd thing to say if it wasn't genuine.
"And you think looking for her gives you the right to trespass in our territory? Why do you even think she's in SummerClan, because we're all code-breaking crowfood?" He leaned closer to the apprentice with a snarl, his claws unsheathed and fur bristling. He was trying to scare the young cat into confessing his true intentions, though his story did sound rather harmless.

Banepaw tried to lean away from the tom, wincing when the plant scratched him again, "no! It's because she's not in SpringClan or FallClan. I asked. She not there. I needed to know if she was here. And I usually don't trespass but that queen said it was okay."
"So you've been trespassing in all the clans?" His lip curled in disgust at the criminal before him, and he turned back to Dawnmemories. His voice low, he stood with his eyes on the apprentice, just in case he wormed his way out of there. "He sounds like a terrible apprentice, but I don't think he's lying either. Do you think it's safe?" Distracted, it was taking him an extra moment to notice some queen had given the 'paw permission to trespass.

"No!" He protested, "I asked patrols but she said it was okay!"
-
She opened her mouth to reply but then froze, picturing the queens in their clan currently. They were all nursing kits, she doubted any would have wandered so far. "Where did you see the queen? Did you get a name?" As she spoke she flicked Sootstep with her tail, trying to tell him listen.
-
"Near the border... she didn't tell me a name and I didn't ask," Banepaw answered, ears back against her head at the strange look on the she-cat's face.
He stared at her, confused, but automatically Sootstep trusted her and turned to face the apprentice again. A queen near the border, maybe that was a little strange. Which of their cats would have wandered this far? "Did you catch her scent? Did she smell like we do?"

"She smelled gross," Banepaw meowed immediately, "but every cat except WinterClan smell quite bad. You guys should really do something about that." He flicked his tail in concentration as he tried to remember the scent, "it didn't smell the same, no. But I didn't really know that until you all attacked me."
Sootstep reluctantly forgave the insult. At least Banepaw gave them something useful. A cat from another clan on their border: that was fast less dangerous than one of their own wandering, but what if she was hurt or in need of help? He gazed at Dawnmemories, trying to read her expression.

Dawnmemories was concerned for a number of reasons, they apparently had at least two cats of different clans in their territory, one was a pregnant queen, and the other one an apprentice she doubted very much was learning anything from his experience. Her eyes were dark as she looked at Sootstep, but she knew they needed to get Banepaw off their territory and find the other intruder.
"Yes," Banepaw meowed, his voice a sigh of relief, "I mean, I'll show you where I met her."
