Gotta make my boy suffer oops strawberrycupid A small breeze ran through Shadedstar’s thick pelt, lifting some of his tufts every now and then. The last of the sun’s dying rays cast a soft yellow hue onto his pelt as the leader trudged on. His tail dragged behind him, his eyes lidded and tired, Shadedstar needed a break. His anxiety picking up pace, he quickened his steps. He needed to get away, far away from his responsibilities, far away from everything. His mood weighing heavy on his conscious, he continued his way to the very edge of SpringClan’s territory, as far away from the SummerClan border as possible.
His walk turned into a run, and soon enough he was past SpringClan’s territory and into the beyond. Right then and there, he didn’t care where he was. He just hoped he wasn’t too lost.

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH In the grass near the League's border, a sole figure laid in the grass with nothing on his mind. There was so much chaos and expectations in his new house, he both loved and hated it. Laying here, he held a sense of peace and he was in a light nap when the sound of trampling footsteps hit him. Casually lifting his paw up so it stuck above the grass, he lazily yelled, "TAXI!" Not moving, but wondering if the figure would stop. The scent of flowers and sunshine caught his nose, and he tilted his head uselessly to try and get a look at the passing figure. "You've come a long way from home, my sweet smelling friend. What's a pretty thing like you doing on the League's border?"
Stopping suddenly at the sound of a new, sweet voice, Shadedstar’s yellow eyes landed on this cat. Trying to take no heed to the flirtatious compliments—he was not ready for another Doestar situation right now—he took a deep breath. “Who are you?” He said, breathless from his run. Shadedstar looked around, confusion playing clear on his face. “I ran this far? I—sorry for the intrusion.” He looked down at his paws, turning away from the stranger, ready to head home. At least he was free for. Little while.

"Nah, it's okay." Funk rolled to his feet, shaking the loose strands of grass out of his pelt. He flicked a few extra off, before turning and realizing the tom was walking away, "Hey, it's all good. You came all the way from Springclan, no? You should rest some before making your way back." He insisted. There was something on this tom's mind, and he was far too curious to let him walk away. "My name is Eshek, I'm a proxy. Fancy League lingo for a senior warrior. I'm not enough of a stickler for the rules to kick out a pretty little thing like you." Laughing, he stared off towards the manor for a moment. That she-cat finally came in handy, giving him a quick alias to use.
“I guess you’re right. If you don’t mint, of course.” He scooted a little back towards his own border and lay down, curling his tail around his paws. “Eshek? That’s a cool name. I’m Shadedstar.” His face heated up a little at the comment, but he tried to ignore it.

"Of course. As long as I'm here, no one'll bug ya." Funk beamed, staying on his side of the border, absentmindedly mimicking him by curling his tail around his paws, "Thank you. Shadedstar? You must be a leader then. Was I right with Springclan?" He tilted his head, ever curious why he ran all the way here, especially by himself. He didn't know all the ties between all the clans, but he didn't think there was any alliance or war between the League and Springclan, so it was more strange that he came here.
He nodded his head respectfully to the proxy. “Yeah, I became leader not to long ago. And you’re right, I’m from SpringClan.” He wrapped his tail tighter around himself. “Hey, uh, thanks for letting me stay here...” He gave a nervous smile. “So, what’s living in the League like?” He asked as a conversation starter, trying to break the silence.

Funk rocked his head and shoulders, acting like he was proud of himself for guessing the obvious. At least this was a Springclan cat, better than a Summer or Winter one. He at least held some amount of respect for Springclan. More because they maintained beautiful fields and never gave him too hard of a time when he invaded. Still, this one was new, so maybe he was an outsider. But if Springclan appointed a leader that wasn't there for very long, they must be in some trouble.
Though when the conversation turned to the League, Funk had to force himself not to roll his head back and start screaming. Oh he made so many mistakes in life, but this was the worst. He could just be travelling around now, not having to worry about his bosses, procreating his line for Mage, the actual Eshek. It'd be so nice.
"In a way it's similar to being in a clan and in others it's not. We're the boogeyman, and I can't really deny that by sugar-coating it. But we're not like, war mongering. We like to keep our selves protected first and foremost before trying to cause an mayhem. Don't worry about Springclan, we got no ill will. I'm the Foreign Affairs proxy, so you can think of me as like the messenger between the clans and the nemesis." Well, he assumed there was't anything. He didn't know, didn't care if he just lied t Shadedstar's face. Mimicking Eshek's... actual erratic tendencies, he jumped a little during his speech before finally laying back down where he started. Guess he'd thank her later, her position was surprisingly convenient. Who was he kidding, he won't.
Oh, the stories he had heard of the League that used to send shivers down his spine. He supposed it wasn’t as bad as the tales told, as Eshek seemed quite nice in a sly, charming sort of way. “Well, good thing that’s settled.” He hummed absently, getting to his paws. “I’ve never really met a League cat, except for you. I guess you’re my first, then, Eshek.” Adding a more confident tone to his voice was hard, especially when his emotions dragged him down.

It was as bad, but Funk wasn't gonna say that. It was a weird cesspool he was now a part of, and man, it was... interesting. Did he hate it? No. Did he like it? No. He was just here to sow chaos, which is also what the League does, so their goals matched kinda. Anyway, he gave a pleasant smile as the tone of Shadedstar's voice caught his attention.
"You seem down, my friend. Something the matter? It won't go farther than you, me and these blades of grass, I promise." Starting up the charm again, he didn't move when he stood.
You seem down. Was he really that obvious? He didn't want to burden this cat with his problems, they were his, not Eshek's, after all. Shadedstar didn't say anything for a bit, contemplating what he would do. "I guess, yeah." He said quietly. "Something happened recently, with a . . . a friend." He said slowly, cautiously. "I made the wrong choice."

"Wrong choice?" Funk tilted his head to the side, as best as he could. He let out a small hmm as he thought, he wanted to pry so bad but he needed Shaded to be willing to tell him, "It's hard, but I always find talking to someone unrelated to the incident helpful. So you can get a second opinion and it off your chest. Granted, I don't think you expected it to be me, but I don't mind." Light green eyes flashing in the setting sun, he swiveled back to his stomach, resting his head on his paws.
"I--yes..." Shadedstar said slowly, as if grasping the very concept of sharing his feelings with anyone. Something about this tom made him want to share--Doestar had the same feeling, actually. "I suppose you're right." He said after a few moments of silence. "I was seeing a friend--you may not know him, his name is Doestar--and I said something stupid." He took a deep breath, guilt and hurt swarming in his stomach. "It was like he was leading me on the whole time, and I fell for it. He--he wasn't interested," curling his tail protectively around himself, he stopped. "Yeah. It was--I was just stupid..." Giving a nervous chuckle, his ears flattened against his head.

Funk was all smiles until that name dropped. Doestar. No, it couldn't be. Could it? How could a worm like him end up leader? That was ridiculous. But how many cats had the Doe- prefix? How many of them were male and gay? It was far too convenient, it made his blood boil. All at once, those rushes came back, and the fur on his back pricked. Gosh, Doe was a fun one, but he also got away in the end. Funk hadn't seen him since, and that was odd. Most got addicted, and he didn't, and Funk didn't like loosing customers. Didn't like being put in the past. But... now he had Shaded. Maybe it's time for a little payback. Drumming a little with his paws, he breathed out. Breath somehow hotter than the air around them and sat up.
"Heard of him. There's no point in blaming yourself in that. We have feelings and we have the right to express them. And if he was leading you on, that's on him." What a hypocrite, he almost laughed. So desperate for affection yet turned it away from a cat that would have treated him well. Now he was probably off getting hurt again. Though his advice was generic, he needed a little more information, "Still, whatever you said couldn't have been that bad, right?"
“I know. I just feel as though they aren’t right. Doestar is with someone else, I don’t want to ruin that for him.” He sighed. He couldn’t help but blame himself, he was the one who said it. “I—well, no, I don’t think so. We were having a good night, I was showing him SpringClan and stuff,” his eyes misted a bit. Great StarClan he was being so dramatic. “And we lay down to rest, and I told him I loved him. It was a reckless decision, I—I didn’t even put any thought into it.” He let out another deprecating laugh, blinking his eyes repeatedly.
“Turns out he didn’t feel the same.” Taking a deep breath, he put a smile on his face. “You know, it did help. I feel a bit better now. Thank you, Eshek.”

"Never would of known if you hadn't asked." Funk didn't appear to notice how tears threatened to pour out of his eyes, "And it's fine, it'll take some time for those feelings to dissipate but they will." cats in love sure are scary. could not relate, funk thought, "Still, that's a shame. I would've said yes in a heartbeat if I was in Doestar's position." Doe. STAR. It's not right. Who did that? Who gave him that power, trusted him with that power? Crazy. Unbelievable. Oh well.
"I'm glad, and if it still hurts, I can help you in... other ways, if you'd like." he smiled, almost innocent enough.
“Would you?” He said almost absently, lost in the memories of Doestar. He really should have known he wasn’t interested, everything with Chimerastar at the Gathering spoke clear signs. Other ways? Of course it still hurt, it hurt a lot, actually. “Other ways, you say? Please share.” He didn’t care if he sounded desperate, all he wanted to do was numb his pain in whatever this tom had to offer.

well that worked real well. guess i didn't need to add that comment
He held back a sigh, but nodded, "Well, I dabble with herbs on the side. You know, we all need hobbies. Sometimes, when things get too much, couple of those babies help dull the pain. Of course, you gotta work it out, but taking the edge off never hurts." It was real against his normal character to encourage others to work things out without his medicine, but still, this poor sap got his heart broken by Doestar. He needed all the help he could get.
He was thoughtful for a few moments, tossing Eshek's ideas around in his mind. "Herbs?" He said faintly, his tail-tip twitching. Was he that desperate though? To, quote, take the edge off? "It depends," He said finally, not really sure what it depended on. "I'm not too sure..." He glanced at his paws, eyeing his pink pads as if nothing was more interesting.

"You got nothing to loose, no? Of course, you can leave and wallow for a bit before falling into a restless sleep. Or, you can stay, I'll hook you up and you'll feel a lot better." Despite the insistence in his sudden stance, his voice was soft. Granted, it was temporary and it wouldn't be long until he desired the high again, the forget. Force wasn't his mo, so he left plenty of room for Shaded to leave. "I got some ready to pluck, it's in its prime."
