Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Crownglass frowned. "if he's doing more harm than good, you can talk to him," he pointed out gently. "If you're the one doing the work to raise them, it isn't fair for him to stop by and pretend to be their father. Ask him to step away and leave you all in peace." It may be strange, having to confront her own father, but Crownglass didn't think their situation sounded good. .But then, who was he to judge? Maybe he should't have just given her advice, they didn't even know each other. "...Sorry," he tacked on after a moment, glancing down at his ebony paws. "I'm sure you know what you're doing."
Talk to him? She'd practically have to catch him first. Peanutblossom was hardly in the camp anymore and when he was it was the only chance she had of leaving without relying on the other queens to care for her siblings more than they already had too. But he was right, she couldn't keep letting this go on. Ivorykit was already grow envious of other kits with present fathers when hers barely knew her name, showing anger when he did appear to watch over them. The kit was a nightmare when he left, full of frustration and anger unbefitting of a child her size. With a sigh that spoke of confiction and depression, Seapaw lowered her head, eyes cast to the ground beore her. "No, you're right. But how can I deny them to see their father when so many don't even have one. He was good once, cared for me and my siblings well even though he'd just lost our mother and not long later our grandmother." Though, Ambersky hadn't been much in terms of a mother from what Seapaw understood and she'd been to young to remember her as a grandmother. It was like a swotch had been flipped in him when they left like he didn't know what to do now that they had mentors to care for them and teach them. Like he was lost.
(So I'm thinking its time to tie in Peanutblossom's death soon. Do you want Walnutchime present? I was thinking that Seapaw talks to her uncle and they corner Peanutblossom while out on a family patrol they all volunteer for, or in Peanutblossoms case gets volun-told for, and have an intervention only to run into his newest fling if I can find one for him as she's dropping off his kits or that can happen after he's died if she's even included idk yet on that part. I was thinking it gets into a heated arguement near the gorge, their assigned route, where they'd cornered him only for a fight to break out or for him to slip falling to his death. We could time skip this thread to after that when the death thread is done, though we could time skip soon anyways to another point where they met up and then do another after teh death thread. The next time skip if we do it, could be the one that happens at the same time as the death thread one, where Seapaw annoces her new warrior name to Crownglass and updates him about her siblings)
(rip. that sounds fun though, walnut can tag along and help c:)
"Sometimes having the wrong father can be worse than having none at all," he replied quietly. "I don't mean to insult your father, forgive me that; it sounds like he once knew how to be a proper one. But seeing him only rarely, feeling unloved because he doesn't want to be around them? Having a loving sister and no parent at all could be less scarring... in some situations. Perhaps not yours."
You're a fool, Crownglass. Insulting her parent right in front of her, when you're alone in a cave far from home? And you thought Ragingspire was a jerk to you... He sighed deeply, looking away from her. In the end, he was glad that he'd grown up without a family than with a poor one, but that probably wasn't a universal experience. He could be giving her bad advice and not even knowing it.
(I figured you'd like it lol. Also its finals week so idk hwo much I'll be able to get on. Also any idea why the autocorrect thing turned off? It use to underline the words you spelt wrong with red squilly lines but laterly it doesn't)
"No, no insult away. I've heard family say worse." Her uncle being being one of them. (hinting at Walnut here lol). Seapaw looked at the tom, truely looked at him. "Do you speak form experience?" Could eh give her advice? What was she to say to her father, to fix his ways or send him packing? Had Crownglass experienced this before, because if so maybe he had some word of advice he could give her.
(okay that's fine c: and i think autocorrect is normally run by the computer or broswer (ie Chrome) so maybe look there?)
"Not with a situation like yours," he admitted, curling his tail around himself. "I've seen some cats with good parents, and some with parents that are.... a little lacking. But I grew up without either. My mother died when I was very young, only a moon, and my father was never around. He, ah.... well, he wasn't really around for his other kits, either, I've been told." It had taken a while to learn who his father was, but by the time he did, he already knew of the tom's varying reputations. Some talked about Deal like the cruelest of heartless cats to every walk the earth; others spoke of him more softly, like a tom simply naive to the consequences of his actions.
(See I have grammerly downloaded and that catches it sometimes but Idk it randomly works. And I have the bad habit of hitting the 'e' before the 'h' or the 'a' before the next letter in the word. I do that on my phone too, its stopped correcting it )
Seapaw nodded, she'd seen the same within her own clan. Cats being disowned solely based on who they loved, their loyalties, the kin, it was all an unnecessary nightmare. "I had my father after our mother passed away. She didn't make it through our kitting." But Peanutblossom had been sure to tell them all about her, who Sealife had been and what their lives had been like together. "I wonder if it's better to know your father and never see him, or to have him care for one litter and not the next?" It was a question spoke to the stars that had begun to peak through the clouds, the rain finally stopping. Maybe her mother could hear her, could answer her, tell her what had gone wrong. And yet she knew she wouldn't get answers from the cat she never got to know in life.
(Oh interesting o: Maybe make sure Grammarly is still enabled and doesn't need an update or something?)
"I can't say for certain... but I didn't mind growing up without parents so much. The other queens looked after me and my siblings, and the other kits took me in too. It wasn't the same as having a family, but it wasn't so bad either, we got to do our own thing and bond with each other more because we didn't have anyone else." Crownglass shrugged his shoulders. He thought that was good, for the most part... though it had made it that much more painful as he slowly lost his siblings one by one to clan life.
(It is. I just got the computer so I had to redownload it. It's weird. Technology just doesn't like me. And of course it's working now)
"I see." Seapaw could see where that could be a family, one of bonds not blood but nonetheless a family. "How are your siblings?" She assumed that they were all still in the same clan, and alive, unaware of what his life may be like in comparison to her own. The she-cat knew so little about the other clans and the cats in them; her whole life spent within these borders tending to the kits and training, and yet never having stepped outside of them to even a gathering.
He looked away from her to hide the flare of emotion in his gaze. "Most of them are with StarClan now. Quark is.... well, I'm not completely sure. Last I heard he had settled down in the Regime." Maria had always wanted to leave, but he hadn't expected his brother to leave him too. That had probably hurt most of all; after all, he'd known him the longest, and trusted him to be at his side forever.
"Oh, I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked." Now she felt bad, sure her family was a mess but at least she had them. Seapaw couldn't believe she'd been so rude, but in her defense, she hadn't known.
(Do we wanna time skip to a different time they met up? Before Peanut die and then do another time skip to after he's died and her name as changed to warrior status?)
"No!" His golden eyes widened and he looked up at her hurriedly. "You're quite alright, you couldn't have known. Besides, it's good to think of them sometimes. Remind me why I'm here, I guess." Crownglass shrugged, not really sure what he was saying, but certain he didn't want her to think he was upset.
The rain had finally cleared up, the moon poking through the clouds, calling an end to their pleasent conversation. Standing up from her crouch position, Seapaw shook the little bit of water on her fur off before turning to the other cat. "Let's get you home." No point keeping him any longer when he'd already been lost for so long in another clan's territory. It was amazing that no one had come looking for them as it was. Besides, she had kits to get back too and an uncle to track down. "I'll take your advice about my father, and bring my uncle into teh conversation as well, maybe then he'll listen better with his brother there."
"I wish you luck. Thank you for the help," Crownglass meowed, dipping his head in gratitude to her. He turned to follow her out and back toward SummerClan.
TIME SKIP: TWO WEEKS LATER
How was it that he'd found himself here again so soon? His paws traipsed along the craggy cliffs and skirted the sparse grasses that grew near the edge as he casually made his way toward the bridge across the chasm. The wind teased through his thick ebony coat, but with the sun strong overhead it was still comfortable to be in the exposed air. Crownglass paused as he stopped at the edge of the cliff and stared along it. He was as fascinated as he had been the last time... but this time, he wasn't lost. He had been sent nearby and now that he had a moment to himself, the warrior wanted to catch up and say hi to the EarthClan apprentice he'd met. It was a dumb idea, but here he was anyway.
Freedom had never felt so sweet. Finally, Seapaw had been promoted to Seablossom, fitting to receive a warrior name with parts form both of her parents. It made her feel closer to them, even if at times she felt as though she hardly knew them. Her younger siblings were now apprenticed themselves, which had given her plenty of time to catch up on what she'd been missing in her training and graduate to warrior status. She was grateful for the extra time and the fact that the Solsticestar had even allowed her to take a break in her training to raise the two little ones. Seablossom was free of the duties of an apprentice, the status, and the lifestyle. Now she'd get to live her time as a warrior, hopefully, one that had a fulfilling life.
With no patrol to be on and no apprentice of her own, the icy white she-cat had taken a moment for herself. Her paws carried her as her mind wandered back to a time where she was alone with an outsider. Seablossom had still yet been to a gathering, mostly because one hadn't happened yet and also due to her organizing with her uncle an intervention for her father. They'd made great progress, but we're talking about involving other family members, like Almondrose, into the mix. Maybe then Peanutblossom would better understand what was going on and what needed to be changed. Unknowingly, her paws and carried her back to the cave she'd first met the SummerClan tom. She wasn't sure she was truly surprised, because she'd been thinking about him a lot lately and the change he'd promoted in her life. If it hadn't been for him, she'd have never thought to call this intervention.
(so I didn't realize this when I created her but she's literally the ship name for her parents. Sealife X Peanutblossom = Seablossom lol I'll probably end up keeping with this theme for her kits too. Like Seablossom X Crownglass = Glass-sea or Blossomcrown or Crownblossom)
He looked over the bridge at the foreign land. He wouldn't dare cross, though he was tempted. Instead, he let his paws lead him down toward the cave they had stayed in. What was he doing here, really? This is stupid. He stopped and was about to just turn around and leave when he spotted another cat near the cave, and felt a prickle of shock. "Seapaw?" the SummerClanner mewed in surprise. "What are you doing here?" After a moment, he realized she could ask him the same thing, and backed up a few steps. "Er... I mean... hi."
(I didn't even realize it until I was working on their family tree and I went wait a minute that's a ship name)
She was shocked to see him again, had believed he'd stay away though she can't say she wanted him too. Seablossom curled her tail around her paws and smiled. "It's good to see you, but its Seablossom now." She could almost grin at the shock he'd received to learn she'd been promoted to warrior status during the time they last saw each other.
"Seablossom? That's great! Congratulations!" Crownglass exclaimed. His gold eyes brightened and grew wider in surprise, but he was pleased as well. It was a good name, and he was glad to hear she was a warrior now; she certainly seemed mature enough for it. He purred. "That's a great name."
"Thanks," Seablossom blushed, this being the first time someone had told her it was a good name. Coming from him, that was a lot. She found the irony in her name that she was sure other had as well; the warrior part came from her father and the first part from her mother. And yet she acted very little like either of them. She was more mature and patient than she could remember them being, yet she was nearly teh spitting image of her mother at leats to other's words. "How have you been?"
"Much better, thank you," he assured her. Not only was he no longer lost, he was further healed: his ribs barely bothered him now, except during strenuous exercise, and the rest of his injuries were mere memories. His clan had moved back home, and everything was getting back on track, though he was lonelier than ever.
"That's good to hear." It was good to see the tom, especially since she'd heard somethings recently about SummerClan. Seablossom didn't want to believe rumors, since some were so far fecthed even she could understand how they began. "How's your clan? And yourself?"
