Glowstar winced expecting her friend to throw her off the side of the rock, but instead felt her paw pushed down. She let out a sigh of relief and smiled at her, "I didn't come up here thinking I would dissuade you. I came up here to remind you of who you are. So one day you can look back on this day and see how far you've come. So one day when you need to hold someone's paw you know that through thick and thin I'll be there."
She leaned her head over to make eye contact with Deal, "Hey Deal, would you prefer it if I attempt to do something and get dragged away screaming like a lunatic or should I just sort of chill here and get scarred for life? I'm cool with either, babe."

Flyingcolors watched the interactions between the three leaders with tensed shoulders, worried that Foxstar might decide to spill more than just one cats blood tonight. Glowstar was a force to be reckoned with but Foxstar was no average warrior, she was skilled and powerful and had more than one life unlike Glowstar who had freely given her lives to her deputies. As the situation dragged on she became more nervous, knowing that if anything were to happen she would be useless without being able to heal or to fight.
"And there's the truth of it," Deal replied softly, his eyes burning.
I could say the same about you.
She was right. Maybe he never had understood himself after all; maybe he had denied his true nature. Maybe Deal had never loved anyone at all. He thought he had; he thought he had loved every cat he'd been with, and he had been willing to die for them. He had willing to die for other cats... but he was not willing to kill for them. He had killed two, had tried a third, but it had always been for himself; he had never thought it was a sign of love to kill for a cat, but now he had to wonder. If he wouldn't kill to the save the life of a cat he loved, only die so they could live, did he still love them? Had he misunderstood his feelings for his entire life, thought himself more sentimental than he was, or had she just made him doubt himself?
The confusion infected him like a madness, and he laughed. Was this his soul, revealed? Was it delirium, as he finally realized he was about to die?
"Maybe I never loved anyone at all," he mused aloud, and laughed again. It was not Deal's laugh, not the warm and comforting chuckle accompanied by a cocked head and a brilliant grin; it was hysteria.
Then, slowly, it died away, as he met Green's eyes. He was somber. He was scared.
"I won't make that choice for you," he told her quietly. "I don't want you to watch if it will hurt you... but I can't force you to leave, not this time."
-
Ebonygold bowed his head. She was right, but the old cat struggled to care. He had much to live for, but all he could see was what he'd rather die for.
"Hey, you're gonna be okay. If you go to StarClan you'll be with your friends and if you go to the Dark Forest I'll be right there with you. Win win. Just say you know Green and you'll meet all the people I want to see... Trust me, it doesn't hurt for long, dying. Now we'll be like, "ugh, remember that time Foxstar killed me?" And I'll be like, "Ugh, me too remember when she slit my throat open, she's the worst!" And Foxstar will be right there like she is now and she'll be like, "I'll kill you both all over again." It'll be funny in a few moons. Maybe," Glowstar smiled with tears in her eyes, she had to.
She could attack Foxstar and she'd delay it for a time, maybe she'd even get away with saving Deal. But how long would that last? And if she wasn't successful she would be dragged away and not there where Deal needed her. She had to look confident that one way or another if he stayed dead or survived that they would be okay. He was there for her when she was killed by Foxstar, it was her turn to be there for him and when and if Foxstar was ready for her to be there... She'd be a sister to her and be there for her too. Despite everything. But Foxstar only had as much power as they gave her. She couldn't take away their humor, they'd be giggly idiots together forever. But one thing she refused to say was she loved him. She couldn't say it, stuff it into her sentence like it might be the last time they would ever be able to say it to one another. They had to believe that there would be hundreds of times more to say those three precious words than now.
This is what it all came down to. With the die cast and fates decided, Foxstar's claws flashed, slashing across Deal's throat before either he or Glowstar had the chance to react. There was no ritualistic element to the kill, no carefully crafted words or actions. This was an execution, plain and simple, quick and nearly painless.
But something was amiss. For all her apparent hatred, she'd given Deal a death far too easy, too painless. It would take but one life of his, not strip him of all those which he might have left. There was something deeply wrong about the way Foxstar had acted. As blood poured from the tom's throat, coating the rock and the Priestess' paws, her voice rose over the chants, calling to not only the cats below, but to the heavens above, to all those who in death may be watching the spectacle, and to the deity she served, asking once more for him to lend her his power, if only for a moment.
"In the name of the Sun God, I, High Priestess Foxstar, curse you Dealstar, former leader of DayClan." And this was the point in which her true intentions were revealed. Foxstar wasn't going to simply kill Deal, she was giving him a fate worse than death. Much like the first time, an apparition of the Sun God appeared beside her, righteous flame in his gaze. Only the cats of SunClan, and Deal, could see the deity himself, but all could perceive the flickering lights that danced across the ground, and feel the thrum of his power behind the words Foxstar spoke.
"When you wake from this life, and into your next, may your eyes be opened to how others truly perceive you." They said, as Deal died before them. "May you see hate and lies in place of love and honesty, unable to believe in the genuine kindness of those who you once called your allies, your friends, and your lovers. Your life is one meant to be lived alone, may you be incapable of even taking comfort in bringing new life into this world. For, from this point on, may you also be infertile, your legacy left to those spawn of yours you already have."
Burningstar had been too surprised by when Foxstar dealt the death blow to properly flinch.
Then when Foxstar called upon the Sun God, though Burningstar could not see the god. It was an instant she was glad she could not. The sheer power emenating through the air, the way the clearing seemed almost too bright to her. She felt like she was staring into the sun and she had to blink, even though her eyes told her she couldnt see anything different.
She shuddered as Foxstar cursed Deal. What horrendous power, and her amber eyes looked towards Glowstar with one of sadness. Part of her hoped that this curse wouldnt destroy Glowstar's happiness. That despite this she and Deal could somehow be happy.
But she felt a shudder creep through her as she was stuck watching, not as close as Glowstar, but right in clear view of it all. And though a primal part of her felt terrified she swallowed and forced herself to remain. She had to support Glowstar in whatever aftermath this brought about. So she stopped her shudders and sat rooted and just watched.

Lochflare stared on as Foxstar slitted the toms throat and uttered her curse. He had not expected this but watching as his father bled out among the rocks before the fiery golden she-cat he realized this would be much much worse than he anticipated. He could not look away from the scene and knew he would never be able to cleanse himself of the image. He shivered and his pelt crawled as if fleas were hopping to and fro.
Flyingcolors' tiny ears flattened even further on her head as she witnessed not only Deal's death but Foxstar's curse. Something in the air changed and she could taste it. For a brief moment it was as if there was a whirlwind around her and she hissed. What was this feeling? Was this their God come to heed the leader's words? The blue merle could not be sure but something about it made the air tremble and her tail tuck under her body. There was a presence she could not connect with around them and that was more unsettling than anything else.
Acaiburst was still young and had never witnessed the death of cat before but it was nothing like he could have ever imagined. The blood was thick and oozed and spurted which was different from anything he had ever seen. Of course he had seen blood, but never this much or moving so fast. He could not peel his young eyes away from it and knew he should no. He had a feeling this would not be the last ime such a sight was splayed before him.
Larkwing stared in horror as Foxstar sliced open the former leader with one swing of her paw. Then his heart sank when she cursed him. *What an awful way to live* he thought, sickness overwhelming him.
Windchaser burried her face into Illuminatedpaw's fur when Foxstar ended Deal's life. She couldnt watch. It was down right cruel and wrong. Then Foxstar cursed Deal and Windchaser had to hold back a wail of protest.
Fawnheart, the medicine cat of Springclan, had been watching toward the front, praying to Starclan that Foxstar would not go through with it. But however much she prayed, Foxstar still ended the life of a cat who didn't deserve to be punished. She closed her eyes and exhaled when Deal faded from the world and Foxstar set the curse.
A shadow of pain crossed her face, as her entire gaze shook staring at Deal fearful gaze losing all life. There was a pounding beat in her skull as she heard Foxstar speak. Everything was anarchy, there was nothing anyone could control, but themselves and if chaos was inevitable then there was no need to care about anything or anyone... Her gaze twitched staring at this bloodied throat wincing again. Everything was chaos, there was nothing to control, but herself so why care? The pounding beat harder in her head, rebelling against her notion. She closed her eyes, the darkness felt so good that she didn't even realize when she reopened her eyes. As the light faded from Deal's eyes the emerald glow of Glowstar's eyes faded into a shade darker than forests. Glowstar tilted her head, the motion slow, deliberate. Her head tilted so far to the side it looked limp, crooked like a loosely stuffed doll. A smile rolled across her lips as she rubbed the top of her claws drawing blood against her own paw. It was her families ability, going dark. They were the guardian family with good reason, if ever there abilities were too weak to guard someone they turned into rage filled creatures.
In a single motion she pinned Foxstar's back against the ground, her claws immediately flinging at Foxstar, not in a rage induced randomness, but with savage precision at her pressure points, "WHY CAN'T YOU JUST BE HAPPY FOR ME!?"
Foxstar was like a predator catching prey. She could forgive her for killing Deal. She could forgive Foxstar for murdering her when she got in the way. But to choose for her, for everyone that ever knew him that they could never have Deal? The Sun God wasn't a God, he was her puppet just like everyone else she touched. Weak. A sheep.
"Oh coooome ooooon," Autumngossamer said, watching as Glowstar leapt at Foxstar. Glowstar was a highly trained assassin with more years of training than literally any other league cat breathing. She was just an apprentice. What the heck was she supposed to do? She sucked in her breath and immediately began to march up to go defend Foxstar or die trying.

"Glowstar!" Flyingcolors shouted, shocked at the sudden change in the Dayclan leader's disposition. Nothing good could come of Glowstar attempting to take another of Foxstar's lives while their clan was held hostage and they were in the middle of Sunclans territory, weakened and waiting for the right moment to regain their freedom. Everything about today was chaos and her head spun a bit. Would they be able to defend themselves when the Sunclan warriors inevitably went after them in an attempt to protect their leader.
Lochflare was stunned by the sudden actions of Glowstar but a growled built in his throat instinctively as his claws slid out without hesitation. Foxstar may have just killed Deal for some personal vengeance but she was still his leader. Without Sunclan where would he go?
"Larkwing! Protect our clanmates!" Burningstar yowled, reminding her deputy just in case that he needed to ensure the protection of their clan, and to follow what they'd discussed previously. That she was acting on her own in this moment. And he was to take over their clanmates. For she was not acting as Burningstar leader of NightClan, she was acting as Burningstar, friend to Glowstar.
She rose to her paws claws unsheathed and she tensed ready to jump in. Whether she'd assist Glowstar or hold back SunClan cats, she wasn't sure yet. But she tensed ready to launch herself into action. Decision made, without a moment's thought. Glowstar was on the attack, Foxstar had killed and placed a terrible curse on Deal. In her mind forget Kerrigan exposing her for kit stealing, she'd had enough. She wouldn't stand for this.
When Glowstar leapt at Foxstar Skipstep tensed, and immediately nudged Littlebird back to Jetclaw. "Littlebird stay back, Jetclaw protect Littlebird, do not let anything happen to her." He said before he launched himself towards the rock. Paws smacking on the ground.
Illuminatedpaw gasped and pressed against Windchaser as well. The two NightClan cats beside them tensed as well unsure how to process their leaders orders. Why was she ordering their deputy to protect them?
"What do we do?" Fernshadow asked looking at Squirrelleap.
"Listen for either Burningstar or Larkwing to give orders, until then we stand firm and protect DayClan as we were told." Squirrelleap meowed.
Larkwing panicked. He and Burningstar had discussed a plan prior to this event. However, he didnt expect things to actually go wrong and in the heat of the moment, he had trouble gathering his thoughts. He wanted to tell them to protect the weaker clans but he knew that he needed to protect his clan first. Trusting his gut, his voice rang out to his clanmates, "Cats of Nightclan! head for the exit!"
Windchaser's eyes widened in horror and confusion. She was far too weak and malnourished to even think properly. All she wanted was to stay close to Illuminatedpaw.
Fawnheart stayed where she was. If someone was to get hurt, she would need to be there, no matter the fear she was feeling.
Fernshadow’s eyes widened, “we’re leaving?” She said looking towards Illuminatedpaw and Windchaser.
Squirrelleap paused and then grabbed Viscariapaw by the scruff and shoved him towards Fernshadow, “Do as Larkwing says, retreat and sneak out these two.” He told her. He turned to Windchaser and Illuminatedpaw, “you need to go with Fernshadow, now. Grab any of your weakest members on the way out NightClan can cover you if you leave now.” He hissed.
Illuminatedpaw’s eyes were wide horrified by it all, but he recognized this could be a way out. Quickly he forced his shaky legs to move nudging Windchaser to move, Fernshadow coming up beside the two she and Viscariapaw standing on either side of them hurried them away from the scene.
Soaringbird growled then turned to Soaringdawn, “most of NightClan is leaving, any of your weakest members send with them. Now. Your strongest push forwards it’ll be too much chaos for SunClan to stop you from getting those most vulnerable to escape to NightClan.” The silver and white tabby said before she rushed to join Burningstar, if her sister intended to act to support Glowstar, Soaringbird would help.
Squirrelleap did as he had with Windchaser and Illuminatedpaw pairing the more frightened NightClan cats with DayClan cats that looked vulnerable as he went to Larkwing, “we can’t all leave, Burningstar’ll be overrun!” He hissed
”If we fight, our alliance will be broken!” Frozenfire hissed, “Let Burningstar be a fool.”
squirrelleap rounded on her. “This alliance has turned two clans into slaves to SunClan, who has abused them, killed them, and done StarClan knows what else. We should not stand for this! We should stand and help.” Then turning to Larkwing he said. “ You’re our deputy, you can take charge. Lead us to help our leader do what’s right.” Squirrelleap demanded.
Larkwing was torn. Squirrelleap had an excellent point but Burningstar jad given him orders. "Frozenfire is right. Even though our allies have done wrong, we cannot afford to make enemies. Get as many of the weak as you can and get out of here. We will retreat to camp and get our guests settled. Please, do as I say." He ordered his clanmate though it didn't seem right to leave his leader in chaos but she had told him the plan. If anything were to happen, they needed to leave...even Larkwing himself. If Burningstar were to get hurt, the clan would need him to take charge.
Windchaser was confused but she followed the Nightclan cats out. She would do anything to get away from Sunclan. Although she wasnt well herself, she helped Illuminatedpaw since he had that limp.
She could hear the gasps, feel the creeping horror that swept over those who supported the black and white tom. Some chanted through to the end, and other's voices died into nothingness. Dark euphoria washed over her as she felt the change in the air, watched as Deal's blood spilled to the floor, glimmering wetly in the light of the Sun God's presence.
But no sooner had the deity's presence disappeared than she was thrown back, head slamming against the ground as the DayClan leader struck, time seeming to slow down as her ex-mate's blood soaked into her back, her sister's claws digging into her fur, though the mixture of adrenaline and dizzying glee numbed the pain until she could hardly feel it any longer. Glowstar's voice seemed far away, and for a moment, Foxstar considered she might have a concussion from the impact. Well, it served her right, she supposed, for getting lost in the feeling of her own happiness and others' despair, forgetting that Green was right next to her. Well, SunClan would just have to figure out what to do on their own, in the meantime.
The attack itself wasn't unexpected, though the timing was sudden. The Priestess had kept her plans secret from just about everyone, minimizing the chance that Glowstar would have the time to plan a revolt. Recovering from her shock, Foxstar's mouth spread in a slow smile, and she laughed ever so slightly. Maybe she was just delirious from the impact, on the brink of insanity from the overwhelming emotions that consumed her, burning her up from the inside out. Blinking, the fox-hearted feline stared up into the dark gaze of Strikhedoniadalisay, her own head lolling slightly to the side in consideration.
"I was happy for you." Her voice was soft, lost in the commotion of the cats below. "You had him. You had something I never would. But he's bad for you, Green. He'll hurt you, in the end. Now, he won't ever have the chance." It was probably her jumbled thoughts that led to the honesty of her words. Sure, she'd mostly acted because she wanted her revenge, she knew that full well. More than a bit could probably be categorized as jealousy as well. It would hurt for Green to lose him like this, but now she'd saved her sister from suffering the same fate, of having her soul shattered beyond repair, until there was nothing left but anger and hatred to fill in the gaps.
Her face burned, and rage flared through her, hot as embers as she struck Foxstar across the face, "Don't you dare! Don't you dare pretend this was out of love. You don't get to make that kind of decision," Glowstar hissed, her breath ice against her neck. She searched Foxstar's eyes, but they were like glass, there was nothing behind them.
She kept staring into her eyes as she always did, waiting for it to flicker back to when it had light. When she didn't seem broken fragments, glimpses of her friend. As she stared she tried to pick up the pieces, she still had her fox fur and her cute white tipped tail. Even as she talked she could hear those delicate articulated notes that only Foxstar would empathize on. But it wasn't her. How long had she mourned for her sister that still breathed air? She was a demon and a demon she had come to know well. Maybe for everyone else it was easy to say good-bye to someone so clearly insane, but they grew up together. They survived through turmoil, they rose up and became leaders together. Accepting their nine lives at moon creek side by side. No one here knew Foxstar, only the demon inside of her that lived in her lungs stealing the breaths of the girl Glowstar grew up to know until she struggled to breathe any part that was once her. SunClan couldn't see who she saw, the Foxstar that was made of glass that fought like she was made of diamonds. Fearless. But now there were pieces of her sister missing that only an eye like hers who had once seen Foxstar whole knew what was gone. It was those missing pieces that no one else knew how to find that made her so dedicated to Foxstar's side. That she was the only one that could restore her.
She closed her eyes and when she opened them she realized just how much blood she had drawn from from Foxstar in her rage. She lied down gently against her chest, her claws perched on top of her throat. A threat not meant for Foxstar, but for anyone who tried to remove her, "I wish I hadn't gotten so mad..." the madness burned out, "I could have enjoyed this had I been more slow. Anymore blood you'll lose and you could be dead. Because what can I really do to you to make you pay? If I took a life from you you'd still have more left and I only have time to take one. You don't love anyone enough to match how much I love Deal. And even if I swore to never speak to you again, that's hardly a choice given the situation."
Her gaze quivered staring at Deal's body as she pressed her chin further into Foxstar, "I mentored your clans apprentice. I hunted for your clan. I have a family in your clan. Your clan means something to me and it means absolutely nothing to you. You'd let them burn if it meant you could hurt Deal. And worse for me is you cursed him to never have kits. You're worse than my mom force feeding me those herbs .. So tell me. If you were in my situation where you not only had to avenge your mate, but three clans including SunClan for your sinful behavior what would you do?"
Autumngossamer stopped seeing the claws Glowstar placed over Foxstar's throat, she definitely didn't want to attempt to attack Glowstar unless Foxstar gave her an okay to take a shot at doing so. She looked to Skipstep, mainly gauging his reaction to see if this sort of thing happened often.
Skipstep moved to get closer pausing when he saw Glowstar’s attack cease before continuing to get closer. Glowstar May have stopped at the moment but she could continue in a heartbeat.
Unfortunately he found his path to the pair barred by one NightClan leader. Burningstar stood poised, her amber eyes were narrowed into slits, promising trouble for any SunClan cat who tried anything, this was now between Glowstar and Foxstar, though if Glowstar called for her help, the ginger she cat was close enough to be there in two heartbeats. She glanced at Skipstep then at any other SunClan cats shifting into a crouch, glancing back towards Deal’s body. How much time had passed? Was losing a life this long of a process? Or had so much happened in such a short time that time felt meaningless.
Though perhaps it was better he stayed out for a while longer, the gravity of foxstar’s Curse yet to be completely unveiled. Burningstar had heard it, witnessed sheer power briefly flowing through Foxstar, but still dying embers that maybe maybe all would be okay. But she knew it was futile, she just knew it was futile hope, but she sent a prayer to StarClan, if they could hear her in the land of the sun god, that for Glowstar’s sake it not be as awful as it sounded.
Foxstar spat blood, her own mingled with that of Deal's, coating her painted fur and running off the rock below her. "I never said I did it out of love. We both know that would've been a lie. Still, I can't say I'm sad to know he can't break you too." Even though Glowstar had paused her relentless assault, the Priestess didn't bother to move, focusing only on her breath and the voice of the she-cat who held her to the ground. Not for the moment anyway.
She understood Glowstar's sentiments, could feel the back of her mind working to formulate lies and silvery words that would twist the situation once more into her favor, but she held them back. Green knew her too well, she'd see right through it all, see right past into her broken soul, just as she always did. Lying wouldn't work, and if she was honest, the injuries and waning tide of adrenaline and excitement left her without the energy to bother with it. "You know exactly what I'd do. No act is too grievous, no lie to big, for me to stop when I'm working towards a goal. But you're not me, Green. Never have been, never will. You're the cat who doesn't care about rules, who always finds a way, no matter the odds. There is nothing you can't do, so, tell me, have you given up so easily?"
Though she could feel darkness dragging at the edges of her vision, threatening to pull her under into unconsciousness, her words were pointed and strong, daring Glowstar to find such a way. Foxstar knew she could do it. It was more a question of how and when, than if. She'd take a life from Deal, and dealt a curse that turned his life upside down. But curses were made to be broken, and one day, he would break free. She knew as much, though she'd fight her sister every step of the way to stop the inevitable.
StarClan, when will I finally earn the honor of being a slacker?
"I'm not the type of psycho who's desperate enough to hunt someone down all my life and plot vengeance on them. I actually get on with my life. I beat you up in front of four clans and threw you off the side of this rocky platform so I guess for now I'll just move on with my life. Oh wait, I didn't throw you off yet did I? Hey Skippy and Heather," Glowstar called to the Janus as she rolled Foxstar over once so she'd be slowly slipping off the edge. It was never her intention to actually throw Foxstar off the edge, she just need the Janus preoccupied with Foxstar so she could buy time to be at Deal's side.
Glowstar walked away from Foxstar and over to Deal's side. Maybe she should just kill Deal the moment he woke up. He'd wake up with his curse, but if he died again the curse could be broken. But it might not break... And this could be his last life. Glowstar stared at the blood around Deal and quickly wiggled underneath Deal's body lifting him up and carefully began moving down from the platform. If he really was going to be paranoid being on the back of another cat would be less scary than lying in a pool of his own blood with everyone staring up at him... And hopefully everyone would be too focused on Foxstar to stop her.
It took time to mend the dead. The bleeding had to be stopped, and his severed throat had to be patched and woven anew, to keep the mortal wound from taking his life once more when he awakened. Everything was far and distant to him as he sat healing, his eyes closed; if he looked, he could see the SunClan camp again, but it was through an opaque shadow of himself that grew more solid with each death. Their words muted and slurred, bodies just hazes of color, even if he tried it was difficult to understand what was going on around his body. Instead, he felt the darkness creep around him, and the light against it; the stars were reviving him, but the dark forest was impatient, waiting for their bargain to finally be complete. It was not time. He had lives left to live, so for now they waited.
By the time Glowstar picked him up, his injury had disappeared as if it had never been, his body strengthened enough it could hold him once again. But his StarClan form remained still and silent. The healing had taken a long time, but reprogramming a cat's mind was a far more arduous task. Every memory was sifted through and sewn with seeds of doubt, slightly altered - a scornful look here, a bristling of fur, a long look now seen to be one of hate rather than longing. His mind was slowly corrupted to see hate take precedent over everything else, and with it his paranoia would be affirmed every time he thought of his friends and family. He had been a toy, a conquest, a joke, but never truly desired; even now, the cat spiriting him away must only do so because she enjoying pulling on his emotions every time she laughed with someone else, and she thought he had not suffered enough.
But for now, there was only an empty body on the leader's back, as the mind was elsewhere being destroyed and rewritten.
