Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"You can't catch me, sis!" Melonkit cried. His paws were a blur against the soft ground as he raced across camp, nearly crashing into a few older cats as he went. "Just give up already!"
@ian soz i got really lazy with the op LMAO this thread is open for anyone but just as a note: melonkit's gonna fall and break his back in this thread. so thats happening xD
"Oh, yeah?" she called, trailing behind him. He was probably right; her small legs made it hard for her to keep up, but she would be damned if she didn't go down swinging, even if it meant she had a mild asthma attack. "Tell that to my claws!" she meowed as she leapt at him, barely catching his tail with her paws.
“I can outrun the both of you!” His name was Jetkit, of course, which meant he was destined to go fast! The ginger furred Tom kit raced a couple tail-lengths behind Melonkit, swatting at his heels every chance he got which was none because he wasn’t keeping up with him well at all. He was younger than them so of course they would have the advantage. Still, it didn’t stop him from trying.
"Ow!" Melonkit shot his sister a glare, slowing down enough that Jetkit had a better chance of catching up. "Applekit, I wasn't being serious, so put your freakin' claws away! Now you've gone and let Jetkit keep up."
Jetkit let out a very cute hiss and, as karma would have it, managed to wrap himself like a snake around Applekit’s hind leg and bit down hard on his tail, “I gotcha !!!!!!”
Applekit let out a squeak, her eyes widening, well, at least as far as they could with her chronic eye problems. "That's no fair!" Despite the sharp bite, though, the kitten had a wide smile on her face. "Maybe if we team up we can take him!" she meowed, although it was very unclear if she was talking to her brother or Jetkit.
Melonkit grinned as he batted Applekit around the air. "I changed my mind, Jetkit has the right idea!" he purred. "Get her, Jetkit! I'll back you up from over here!" With that, he darted onto the lowest point of the Cat Tongue, balancing delicately on the rusty rails.
Jetkit continued to gnaw on Applekit’s tail for about thirty seconds before he processed that she was trying to scheme with him. His mother always scolded him for not being a team player, so he figured it was worth a try. His grip relaxed and he nodded vigorously, “OK i’m the leader though! I think we should chase him to the top of that thing so he has nowhere to go and can’t get away!!”
The gnawing got old, and after a moment, Applekit whacked the tom square on his head. She wanted to work with him, not be his personal chicken wing! "Okay!" she meowed - anything to get you off my leg, she continued in her head. "We better be careful, though! Wouldn't want him to win because we tripped! Lead the way!" she meowed, wanting not to dart off in that direction until Jetkit did as to not get chewed on again.
"H-hey, no fair!" Melonkit pouted, and scampered a little further up the railing. "Applekit, I thought we were in this together! You're dead to me if you come any further, you hear me?!"
“Make sure you can keep up!” Jetkit totally released his grip on Applekit and darted forward with a surprising amount of speed. Maybe there was some truth behind that name of his! When he reached the wooden structure, though, he hesitated to follow after Melonkit just because of how foreign it was. He was frequently told not to climb trees without an adult nearby and this seemed to be a tree with extra steps. Still, he wasn’t exactly alone and as long as he made sure he remembered the way down, there was no way he could get in trouble for this. So, the red-furred tom took a deep breath and literally leaped like a foot in the air over and landed on the wood, “you better keep running Melonkit, we are gonna getcha!!!”
"That was before you told Jetkit to make me a chew toy!" she grunted in response, before quickly following the other cat to the wooden structure. She was a little less hesitant, mostly because she was more eager to get to her brother and knock him in the head. If she was to look down, though, she'd probably be paralyzed in fear. Applekit didn't like heights, but that was all but forgotten during a game. "Careful," she meowed at the younger tom, before making a few leaps in between the tracks. "Here we come!"
"Oh no you don't!" Melonkit growled, scampering even higher up the railing as fast as he could. It was only after reaching the very peak that he stopped, turning back to look at his friends. "Ha, you guys are too scared to come up here, aren't you?" he smirked. "Well, I'm not too scared!" He turned around rapidly to continue on his way, but lost his balance somewhere during the turn; his eyes widened as he stumbled, paws scrabbling for purchase as his back legs slipped off the rails. "Applekit!" he yowled, eyes bright with terror, "what do I—" But before he could ask his question, he lost his grip and tumbled off the railing with a piercing shriek, landing with a sickening thud on the grass below.
Jetkit came to a complete stop, his ginger fur sticking out at every angle, as he heard Melonkit's shriek of fear. He watched the older tom fall almost as if it was in slow motion and held his breath all the while, letting out a squeak of his own when he heard a deafening thud that followed the fall. The younger kit stood there in shock for a few moments before racing off the structure down to where the older tom kit had fallen.
"Hey are you okay!?" Jetkit asked, prodding the other tom's shoulder urgently, "Melonkit! MELONKIT! Hey, answer me!"
Fear crossed in her eyes, and with athletic ability the she-cat did not know she had, she sent herself right off the same spot that her brother had fallen. Luckily for her, though, she had been expecting the drop, and landed with ease a few feet from her brother. Quickly, she shoved the younger cat out of the way. It wasn't intentionalyl aggressive; instead, she was just trying to do the best she could with the fact that she had just witnessed what was probably going to be a life-changing event. "Melonkit, Melonkit, it's okay," she tried to soothe, but Applekit was not meant to be a nurse. She turned to Jetkit. "Find Fawnpaw, or Firetooth, or someone ," she ordered, although it was more a plead than anything.
Jetkit's fur fluffed out and he hissed at Applekit, not out of aggression, but of fear. He didn't know what was happening and her sudden movement startled him, putting him on guard and making his resistant to whatever she suggested.
"He might be OK!" He finally squeaked, his voice breaking as he went on Melonkit's side and gently probbed at his cheek, "Melonkit, wake up!"
Melonkit stirred, eyes slowly blinking open. "Hnnrgh--sis?" he asked, voice soft. He was vaguely aware of something amiss with his body, a dim sensation of pain that pooled in the upper half of his body that his mind refused to process. "I don't--I can't---what happened?"
"What's going on here?!" Tinybreath had been sunning herself on the far side of the Cat's Tongue, the small and somewhat elderly she-cat taking some time to relax while her apprentice was off doing...something, until a sudden shriek caused her to suddenly jump to attention and dart in the direction of the screaming. Her blue eyes went wide when she saw Applekit and Jetkit crowded around a limp Melonkit. "Oh dear Starclan..." she murmured in shock, the foster mother in her kicking into overdrive and she immediately crouched down, giving Melonkit several protective licks. "Hey...Hey..." she cooed in a soft voice "Where does it hurt, darling?" She turned to Applekit and Jetkit. "Go get Fireooth or Fawnpaw. Now."
Jetkit hated to admit it but he was realized that an adult was here now. Melonkit was acting really funny after that fall and there was only so much that he could do at his age.
"I'm really fast, like a jet! I'll bring them here super quick!" He declared hurriedly, words spilling over each other in a jumbled mess that maybe Tinybreath would be able to decode. With that the red-furred tom took off in the direction of camp, making sure to give the Cat's Tongue a wide birth as he did so.
Melonkit's senses sharpened as he came around, looking at Tinybreath's figure looming over him. "It doesn't hurt much..." he whispered, and found that it was almost true--he was aware of a dull ache in his body, but he felt disconnected from his body in a way he'd never felt before, like he was hovering just outside of himself. It wasn't pain exactly, but a promise of it to come later. "But I..." But he what? Something else was wrong, but he couldn't piece it together.
