Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
“SwiftClan, I have an announcement!” Chim bounded onto SkyClan’s high rock and stood waiting for his clan. The other clan glanced up at their curiosity, but he didn’t care; Tigerstar himself could argue and he would ignore the other leader. This wasn’t a time for consequence.
After the clan gathered, he went for the explanation that was easiest: “SwiftClan, I have served for countless moons, even when this clan went by another name. I have dedicated my life to caring for you. But lately, I’ve been lazy and indulgent. I have served you poorly. Because I’m tired. Bring your leader is an honor, but I’ve been so stressed. I’ve neglected myself for a long time,” he glanced down at his dusty coat and skinny frame, the last time he had looked well-fed he had been a prisoner, “and this clan as well. Asking other clans to feed us, finding terrible ditches to stay in, I have been a poor leader. That ends today.” A breath. “I’m stepping down from leader of SwiftClan for the last time. The clan deserves a better leader... and I deserve some peace for the end of my life. I’ve given you everything I have. Don’t ask any more. Beestar will serve you now.”
Taking a deep breath, he thought of everything he had faced in the last few moons, and realized he was more terrified than he had been in moons. There was something else he had to say. It was somehow freeing; the fear was so real and tangible and knowing where it came from have him strength. It was a good terror, like he should be scared of such a monumental moment in his life, and he wanted to run toward it instead of away. Indescribable. Impossible.
“Please, before you say anything,” he swallowed hard, his mouth dry, “there’s something else I need to do.” The two announcements had nothing to do with each other, but he couldn’t imagine waiting a second longer for this. Tinyglow had made him realize what he was missing; she had let the last pieces of the puzzle fall into place. This should be a private moment, but he needed everyone to know the intensity of his feelings.
“Pygmyprawn, I would never have survived prison without you. You’ve been with me ever since, supportive and patient and... I just... thank you.” Chim shook his head vehemently. He couldn’t find the words, it was so frustrating, how did everyone else do this? How did you find the words to express how much you cared about someone? The speech was tying his stomach up in nervous knots, it should have been a nasty tension but for some reason it wasn’t, the anticipation ate at him in the best way.
“You make me stronger. You make me want to live. I-I know because of you that I’m strong enough to be a leader and be strong on my own. Without your support,” he sniffed, “I really don’t think I would have made it this far. And I pushed you away. I don’t know why, I-I don’t have an excuse, and I’m sorry, and if I drove you to find happiness somewhere else I’m so, so glad for you, but I don’t think you have, and...”
He was a mess. He should have rehearsed, should have asked someone else what to say, but it was too late now. Chim laughed brokenly. Better to let her know what she was getting into now, right?
“Pygmyprawn, maybe I can be strong on my own, but I don’t want to be anything without you. I love you,” he smiled, “I love you, and will you be my mate? Please?”
/// chim has his priorities in order and he wants everyone to know. enjoy watching your ex-leader propose and hope he doesn’t get shot down ;D he finally found a way to keep y’all from arguing with him: move on to other news
Cradlegrave watched the proceedings with a look of bland amusement. Even though he'd been in SwiftClan for a few moons now, he still had a hard time wrapping his head around the sheer amount of names and faces he had to remember. "Which one is Beestar again?" he murmured in a low voice to Beestripe.
Peachblush, on the other hand, could barely contain himself. "Oh my god," he whispered, eyes glued on Chim. "This is so cute." Yes, this was the balm Peachblush's soul needed after Fuzzyheart's not-death. Dimly, he wondered what would happen if Pygmyprawn shot Chim down, and--oh hell, what was that horrible stabbing pain in his heart? Perhaps it was best not to think about that outcome.
Swiftscout-- though she was now Beestar, she supposed-- fanned herself, her pelt flush with a swell of emotions. "Thank you, thank you. I've waited a long time for this moment." She didn't acknowledge the engagement. Honesty, she thought Chimerastar and Firetooth were already married, which made her wonder how the medicine cat would react to this blatant adultery.
Beestripe looked helplessly at Cradlegrave and gestured at himself slowly. On Cradlegrave's other side, Brownie shoved the tom lightly and eyed Beestripe meaningfully.
"Beestar" turned to Cradlegrave and cradled his face between her soft, gentle paws and gazed directly into his amber? green? maybe blue? eyes. She couldn't be sure of what color they were because she was too busy staring past them into his soul. "Cradlegrave," she began, "I know we have had our differences. A lot. But when I died, my last thought was you, and I felt every feeling you felt in that moment so I know you feel the same. I love you so, so much. More than myself." And that was a lot. Almost more than Chimerastar loved Firetooth. "Will you please marry me?" She knelt down and presented a leaf to him, with the letters I O U on them because this was on such short notice she couldn't go get a ring. biyuu ☆彡
Brownie bared her teeth at Swiftscout, moving her paw to bop the other she-cat right on the head. "Back off. Find another tom to propose to." She eyeballed Cradlegrave from the corner of her eye, then sniffed and backed up. "Not that I care or whatever."
Cradlegrave was so surprised that he didn't notice Beestripe gesturing to himself. "Uh..." he murmured, checking Brownie's reaction out of the corner of his eye. She did Not Look Happy, which in turn made Cradlegrave Quite Happy--not that he was Quite Happy that Brownie was Not Happy, but because it meant that maybe she did Like Him A Lot, which was good because he also Liked Her A Lot...
His internal monologue was sounding more damning by the second. Tarnation.
"Swiftscout, I got somethin' to tell you," he said. He cleared his throat, waited a few beats, and said,
Firetooth stared blankly at the now-former Swiftclan leader as he made the announcement, all other noise fading into static in the background. The Medicine Cat could barely believe his ears anymore. Chimerastar was stepping down. For real this time. No foxdung. While most of the clan didn't seem to either notice or care about it, it was the only thing the ginger tabby could focus on. It was everything he had ever dreamed of...all of his hopes and dreams lined up on a silver kittypet dish in front of his nose. It was perfect. With Chimerastar no longer in power...
Firetooth couldn't get fired or banished.
He was home-free.
The permanent Medicine Cat of Swiftclan.
He stood up, his expression unreadable as he pushed through the crowd to where Chimerastar was waiting for Pygmyprawn's answer to his marriage proposal. Firetooth wouldn't give her the chance. He cleared his throat, interrupting the pair.
"Chimerastar..." he meowed. "We have definitely had our differences. Butted heads nearly every day since we met. But I'd like to make it clear that I've never hated you, not for a second. I would never say, not even as a joke, that you were a vixenheart and I don't like you. That is NOT TRUE. You are a vixenheart...and I like you SO MUCH. You are a dynamite, stubborn Waterclan vixenheart, and you are the best. If Pygmyprawn is insane and says no, marry me instead."
There was a long silence, until Firetooth finally smirked mischievously. "...Just kidding. Or not. I'll let you make the call for once. Go get 'em, Tiger."
Brownie grinned widely and tried to cover it with one brown paw. Cradlegrave had said no so aggressively. Hot.
Beestripe's jaw dropped as the medicine cat approached Chimerastar. Was everyone going completely mad?
A bright red tom had been watching the commotion from nearby. The loner slipped into the clearing, hit with a barrage of strange scents. Many cats smelled like each other - it felt like there were two groups here. The proposals were so cute. He wanted attention, too. Oak turned to a serious-looking she-cat nearby and called out, "Hey gorgeous! You wanna marry me, too?"

Cerberusspirit looked at Firetooth, glancing between him and Chimerastar... Chimerahunt, now. The shaggy tom brushed a paw through his fur. Usually, he was rather quiet, but he cleared his throat. "I don't know, I think we'd make a better couple, Firetooth." The tom suggested. It was impossible to tell if he was joking or serious. He looked serious enough.
Vulcan shouldn't even have been here. But as per Chim's luck, his grandfather was here against all odds, in the worst of moments. The ghost turned to Swiftscout with a grin on his face. If they were going all proposal happy, may as well join in, right? Especially since she'd just been shut down, hard. The ghostly form of the tom stepped up to her, tilting his head lightly. "Marry me instead." He purred. Why not marry a ghost? There were no downsides.
Apparently, the Swiftrivers enjoyed proposals. Because The black tom, Aviur, stepped up to Beestripe, the newly named Beestar, y'know, the real one. "Me and you?" He suggested, holding out a paw dramatically. Aviur had failed to attain Gravelstar, but this was his chance.
Secretkit watched the adults with wide eyes, Jetfire already regretting her decision to allow them to watch the announcement. Before his mother could protest, the handsome young Tom darted out from before her feet straight towards Rustyheart “Hey there pretty lady” he greeted with his most charming smile, puffing out his chest with pride “How about you and I get married to? What do you say?” He had to tilt his head upwards to even see the face of his potential bride. To be honest he had no idea what it meant to marry someone, but his mom had married his dad and now Chimerastar was marrying Prygmyprawn and Firetooth, and other cats were getting married. So why not?

Rustyheart really hadn't expected to be proposed to.... by a kit, no less. Uhh, the orange she-cat blinked at Secretkit blankly. "Marriage is for warriors, not kits." She told him, a bit too surprised to be truly gentle as the she-cat herded him back over to Jetfire. She lifted her head up to the she-cat, intended to tell her to keep her kit out of this, but instead, all that came out was an almost flustered sounding. "Marry me?" And then the orange she-cat's face burned in a bright blush she swore everyone in camp could see. "AH, UM."
A large ginger cat with far too many toes stepped into the camp. His blue-green eyes landed on his chosen target. “FATHER, I HAVE RETURNED.” He cried out as he stepped up to the now former leader. Oceanscent had spent many moons trapped in WinterClan and then trying to recreate WaterClan. However he had given up on the dream for the moment, realizing he needed to show his father that he wasn’t dead. He might be a disappointment but he wasn’t dead. Cleaver
Owlflight stood there momentarily confused. Perhaps this was how clan cats went around and became mates, in a mass declaration. Well he had his eye on someone and did not want to mess it up, who knew how long it would be till the next time this happened. So he looked around and spotted the creamy she-cat he had grown close too. “Dawnpaw perhaps you would consider me for your mate?” The grey tom looked hopeful. strawberrycupid
Brownie grinned widely and tried to cover it with one brown paw. Cradlegrave had said no so aggressively. Hot.
Cradlegrave's gaze turned to rest on Brownie, noting the way she grinned. Maybe it was just the way that everyone else around him seemed to spontaneously decide to propose as well, but there was something telling him to join in the fun. Alternatively, it was just peer pressure, but that felt less romantic.
"I might've turned poor ol' Swiftscout down," Cradlegrave murmured into Brownie's ear, "but there is someone I do wanna marry, though..." He got down on one knee awkwardly, hindered by his feline biology and the fact that cats didn't really kneel. "Brownie, will you marry me? Or at least, uh, consider it?" Smooth, Cradlegrave. Real romantic proposal you got there.
Firetooth startled at the sudden, unexpected voice that he at first didn't recognize. Turning to face whoever was proposing to him, the Medicine Cat could only balk upon realizing that it was Chimerastar's brother. He had no idea the other tom had ever been interested; honestly, he couldn't ever remember hearing Cerberusspirit's voice before. At a temporary loss for words, he glanced across the clearing when he noticed one of Chim's sisters proposing to Jetfire, and felt himself freeze for a moment. "I...uh..." he stammered, suddenly very aware of where he was and just what he, a MEDICINE CAT, was doing. "Well, I did already ask somebody," the tom finally replied. "At least let your poor brother answer first."
Well this was certainly something. First Chim steps down from being Swiftclan's leader - something Tinybreath knew was coming for a while - and then proposed to Pygmyprawn - which Tinybreath didn't see coming - and now suddenly the entire clan was declaring their love for one another and proposing. The petite black she-cat had to stuggle not to laugh when even Cerberussprit and Rustyheart joined the fray; two of the least romantic cats she knew. Suddenly, she was caught off guard by a tom she certainly didn't recognize coming on to her, and raised an incredulous brow at Oak. "That's cute, sweetie," she purred, rolling her eyes slightly. "But I'm not interested in being mates with a cat I've just met, who I don't believe is even a member of our group. Try somebody else."
"OCEANHEART!" Sliprabbit let out a loud gasp when she recognized a new face within the crowd, the fluffy grey tabby bounding across the clearing to nearly tackle her cousin in a hug. She had barely been an apprentice the last time she'd seen him, when he'd been washed away out of sight. Now she was full-grown, a gorgeous replica of her deceased mother Swangrace. "I can't believe it's you! We all thought you had joined Starclan!"
Indiopastels watched the scene unfold before her, her blue eyes wide in surprise. Her heart best loudly in her chest, drowning out the sound of the other proposals happening around her. When she had finally found Pygmyprawn in the crowd she found herself holding her own breath in anticipation for what the she-cat's answer would be. However it was on that moment she realized that everything Chimerastsr had just said hit home for her. Even when she had been a young Janus way on over her head it was a certain flame-point tom that helped her through her darkest times. It was him who she had found here waiting for her when she had escaped her old life and even though he had never told them so her kits even believed him to be their father, and she had never had the heart to correct them. It was only now that she realized it was because all along she had wished it was true as well.
Now here they were sitting side by side as usual watching the chaos unfold around them that she couldn't bare the silence any longer. "Be my mate." She blurted out, turning to look Beastrefrain in the eye. If she wasn't so confident in her statement she swore her mouth would of turned to sand in an instant with how dry it suddenly felt.
"I know this is sudden and if you don't feel the same I understand but I love you and I have loved you for long time. You taught me what it really means to love someone, completely and utterly. I don't care if I have to be the one to hunt for us until the day we join StarClan and even then. There isnt a single pleasant memory I have where you're not in it and I want to spend the rest of my life making more with you." strawberrycupid
Beestripe was taken aback by the sudden proposal to him. No "congrats on becoming leader of SwiftClan!" Nope. Aviur instead just asked for marriage. He looked around for Lamb, confused by what was going on. "Uh, I'm flattered, truly. But already promised to someone. Sorry Aviur." - Oak shrugged it off, eyes sparkling. "Breaking my heart! But I suppose that's okay. Plenty of eye candy around here. Like ... oh, hello handsome!" The bright red tom scampered off, eyes locked onto another further away. He caught the tail end of the proposal and sidled up next to the other tom. "Looks like we've both been turned down. How about you and me get together instead?" Honeystorm - Brownie's jaw dropped. In all of the craziness, Cradlegrave was proposing to her? "Is this some sort of a joke?" She pulled away from him, squinting. "I sure do like you, and if you're making fun of me, I'll whack you, too." biyuu ☆彡
Igziq wasn't really part of this Clan. She was just in the area after delivering some bad news to her kittens the Clan. But, she stuck around to rest before returning to the territories. She was glad that she stayed to see this, really. That tom's proposal and everything else gave her the perfect idea. A smirk grew on her face as her eyes locked onto the back a Firetooth's neck. She approached him from behind without making a sound, and then when he was within her range she gave him a quick peck on the cheek. "Oh honey, now that love is in the air, won't you give me your hand in marriage? Desertpaw saw something in us, and I see it too..." Her blue eyes were flaming, and it would be impossible to tell if she was serious. "Don't you want to give Desertpaw the brothers and sisters he wanted?"
