"Yes! Yes! It's true!" Fisherkit added enthusiastically. "I saw smoke comin' outta my mouth an' then Sunkit's too. We both have the fire but it doesn't burn us." He was bouncing slightly from excitement.
"Wait, wait. Hold on there a minute," Graythorn meowed confused. "Fire?"
"Come an' look!" Fisherkit ran out of the den because it was brighter outside. He wanted to make sure the medicine cat saw the smoke. "Come on!" he called to Sunkit, wanting her to prove her powers too. He took in a deep breath and blew it out hoping that this time he'd be rewarded with actual fire but all that came out was a thin, white mist.
The confused look left Graythorn's face and was replaced by a knowing smile. "So you have this power too?" he asked Sunkit.
Sunkit scampered out after them just in time for Fisherkit to demonstrate their power, and she gave an enthusiastic nod to Graythorn. "I sure do. Mine is more powerful though," she insisted with a sly wink. Taking in a deep inhale, she blew out a billowing cloud of steam that poured out of her like dragon's breath. Like Fisherkit she was reluctant to note that there was no real fire flaring out of her, but she still felt confident watching her breath whisk out of existence. "See, Graythorn?"

"Yes, I see but look here," the gray tabby medicine cat meowed. He took in a small breath and then exhaled causing steam to rise in the air. "Don't be too disappointed kits. It's not special to cause steam to come out of your mouths in the colder weather." He knew they'd be crestfallen when he shared the news. He remembered wanting to be great when he was their age and how disheartened he felt when Dreamchaser chose him to be her MCA. He wanted nothing more than to be the best warrior, a hero actually, for SummerClan. "What this 'smoke' is, is really nothing more than water vapor. The air inside you is warmer than the air outside. So when it meets the colder air, it causes steam."
Fisherkit was so saddened when he heard the bad news. "So this means we're not special?" He had been so excited at having been given a special gift that this news was a huge let down.
Suddenly, she was puffed to twice her original size, a look of disbelief the first emotion to cross Sunkit's face. It was quickly followed, and snuffed out, by disappointment. "So StarClan didn't give us a prophecy. We're no better than the others kits," she grumbled distastefully, having been thrilled about yet another thing she could flaunt over the others in the nursery to prove she was better. "I guess our only mission is to slay all the sky ants, Sir Fisher," was her despondent remark to her friend.

(Thanks for the heads up!)
"Yeah, I guess your right, Queen Sunstar," he mewed dejectedly before suddenly brightening. "But we can do a good job of it, can't we? No one else knows about the sky ant invasion but us! We have to save the clan!" He jumped to his feet and gave a couple of excited bounces.
Graythorn looked at the pair quizzically at first after listening to their strange conversation before figuring out the two must be playing some game. "Go on you two and save SummerClan from the invasion. StarClan says you're the only ones who can do it." He didn't have a clue about anything he was saying. All he wanted was to be left alone again.
Her gingee-toasted tail flicked in the only farewell she offered to Graythorn before she scampered off. "C'mon, Sir Fisher! We have to kill them all!" She called back to her....well, she supposed they were friends, but for now she was just gonna say bodyguard. She couldn't let him go off and get some big head or something. Sunkit skidded to a stop, snow scattering around her paws where it was disturbed. "What should be our first course of action? These are a lot of sky ants invading, and there's only two of us. We need a battle plan," she said decidedly.
(i think I'm gonna make a thread for a SummerClan kit army defending the camp from the invasion! I think that would be a really fun RP!)

(Sounds like fun! I'll look for it!)
Fisherkit followed Sunkit after waving a cheerful good-by to Graythorn with his tail. Coming to a stop, he slid causing the snow to pile up around his feet. "Well, these are already dead," he mewed indicating the sky ants that were on the ground. "We gotta get the ones while they're still fallin'. See how they pile up? They're tryin' to bury us."
Sunkit nodded in thoughtful agreement with what Fisherkit said. "You may be on to something here. But how are we supposed to know when they're gonna strike?" She vaguely recalled seeing the sky ants flurrying down the night before, right before she'd turned over and snuggled closer to her brother, and she glanced above them at where the sky was an uninterrupted shade of blue. Distantly, she could make out what appeared to be a line across the horizon, flat and gray clouds that would move across the camp in the next few days.

Fisherkit studied the distant clouds. Is there some connection between the sky ants and clouds? Then suddenly it dawned on him! His bright green eyes seemed to shine brighter with the revelation. "I'd bet my whiskers that the clouds are where the sky ants live!" he announced joyfully. "Think about it. There's always clouds around when the sky ants fall. They probably ride around on them and jump off when they float over us. So when there's no clouds, there'll be no attacks."
"Bazinga!" Invigorated, Sunkit shouted it out and drew several pairs of eyes towards her and Fisherkit, but she didn't pay them any mind. "Okay, so we need to figure out the best way to take them all out. We're gonna need a lot of us to do it, though. I know Graythorn said we're the only ones that can do this, but I don't think he's really looking at the big picture." She used one of her forepaws to scuff up some of the carcasses at their feet, scattering them on top of the other sky ant bodies. There were so many already, so how could they take them out? "We're going to need as many of the others as we can get, because I think we're heading into a war, Sir Fisher." And she had no idea how they were going to survive the coming days.

"A war?" Fisherkit spoke in hushed tones as he looked about the camp. "You're right, Queen Sunstar. We're going to have to get some help if we're going to survive." He thought about asking older cats to help out but quickly dismissed the idea. They were the ones chosen by StarClan and in charge of this mission. There was no way apprentices and warriors would accept their leadership. "The other kits! We can get them to help. The nursery is full of kits. There should be enough of us to get the job done!"
(Do you want to end this thread and continue on the new one?)
"Then let's go rally up our troops, Sir Fisher," commanded the self-appointed Queen Sunstar, raising her chin into the air. She felt very strongly about their cause and intended on seeing it through to its success. With a flick of her tail to indicate he should follow her, she strode confidently towards the nursery.
