Lionpride
SunClan Prisoner
The Loveable
Lionpride lifted his paw to his head, the lump underneath pulsating from his fight with Mountain. Even though his eyes were open he couldn't see anything through the thick darkness that blanketed the smooth sandstone cave he had been thrown into. The details of what happened were hazy, but he could remember Bloodystar announcing the arranged marriages and the hurt expression that had crossed Shadeflower's face. His heart pounded against his chest, as he took a deep breathe the scent of blood flooded his senses He pushed himself to his paws only to hit the roof of the prison, unable to rise to his full height.
The much softer feeling of fur brushing against his legs caught his attention, as a familiar scent reached him "Pollendrone?" he questioned softly unsure if she was awake "are you alright?"
I'd rather be hated for who I am. Than loved for who I am not.
Her life had gone from such a peaceful state to a chaotic mess in moments, she was still having trouble wrapping her head around everything that had happened and the still bleeding wound on her head wasn't helping her focus. After being brought to the dark prison cell she had curled up against a wall, putting some distance between her and Lionpride so she wouldn't disturb him as tears began falling down her cheeks. Her eyes were drooping sleepily when the sound of something hitting the ceiling sent her heart racing, only calming slightly when she felt Lionprides leg brush her fur followed by his voice.
She could still feel the blood dripping along the side of her face and was sure he could smell it as well, her paw lifted to cover the injury and she smiled weakly even though he probably couldn't see it. "Oh, I'm okay, just a little scratch." She slowly sat up and continued. "Are you alright? Mountain didn't hold back after you jumped at him." She knew he had been hurt, but didn't have much time to gauge just how bad it had been before they were brought here.

Lionpride
SunClan Prisoner
The Loveable
Lionpride stood there crouched in an awkward position, until finally giving in and laying down beside of pollendrone, his long fur brushing against hers as he leaned in towards her "You are hurt",worry lacing his voice "It's all my fault..." he added, guilt eating away at him "and yet your still worried about me... My head is pounding, but I have been through worse" he nosed gently against her cheek until he found her wounds. He gently began to lap at them, the bitter taste filling his mouth as he cleaned her wounds. "I'm sorry for dragging you into this..." he mewed between licks
I'd rather be hated for who I am. Than loved for who I am not.
Pollendrone didn't reply back to him for a moment, but she sucked in a small breath when she felt his tongue rasping against her face. "You didn't start all of this, we all got thrown into it out of no where." She paused and pulled her face away from him a little. "You didn't do anything wrong in standing up for what you believe in, I should have done the same." Her voice was shaking a little, holding back the tears that threatened to begin falling again.
After taking a deep but wavering breath, Pollendrone leaned her face closer to Lionpride, sniffing along his fur until she located the scratches he had revieced from Mountain. She was hesitant but slowly began to clean them, he had still been recovering from his last wounds and with new ones she was worried about infection.

Lionpride
SunClan Prisoner
The Loveable
'Please, Don't cry" he pleaded gently, lifting a paw and gently wiping underneath her eyes until he could feel his fur dampen "My family has already been thrown into prison, humiliated, and manipulated. You still have your father and siblings to think about. I had nothing else to loose, but you.... You had everything left to be taken from you" he continued his gentle grooming as she began to clean the deep wounds that had been inflicted upon him "There is no shame in protecting your family" Even though he didn't know her well, everyone in the clan had seen how much she cared for her father and little half-siblings.
"Its one of the things that I admire about you" he admitted slowly. He still struggled to think of her as anything more than a fellow warrior and friend. She was pretty sure, but... His mind drifted back to Shadeflower and then to Aconite... "But I want to be up front and honest with you, I think that you should know this now rather than later. I am never going to be the mate that you deserve... You are a nice girl, but my heart beats for another...."
I'd rather be hated for who I am. Than loved for who I am not.
The cream and tortoiseshell she-cat didn't move away when he wiped the tears from her cheek, he already knew they were there so trying to deny it was pointless. "I havent lost anything, just my nest." She let a small smile play on her lips, she didnt get into the fact that she had also lost her choice in finding a mate, she didnt have anyone like that anyway so while it hurt it could have been far worse.
She grew quiet as he spoke again, telling her his true feeling and that he cared for another. Pollendrone knew he had a mate before and kits, but was that who his heart was still beating for.. or had he found another? That she didnt know, but she was grateful for his honesty. "Thank you for being honest and telling me now, you're a good guy and it wouldnt be hard to fall for you." A soft bubble of laughter escaped her and she smiled again before growing serious. "I dont want to be the one to stand between you and the one you care for." There was a sadness in her eyes, hidden by the darkness that engulfed them. Of course she had a tinge of hope that perhaps the two of them would grow close and make the best of their situation, the possibilites were endless but now that hope was gone, and she had to accept that.

Lionpride
SunClan Prisoner
The Loveable
'I feel the same way" his paw moved until it covered hers in a gentle embrace "Pollendrone... I know what it is like to be truly in love with another, to have a cat that you care for so much that you would give ANYTHING just to see them smile. To have your heart ache for their presence, to be so connected that you can't breathe in their absence. You deserve to have that kind of love one day" the words caught in his throat as he struggled to explain what he meant
"I guess what I am trying to say is that even though we are going to be forced into this marriage, I don't want to be what stands between you and finding the true love of your life. When you find who you are meant to be with, I don't want you to hesitate on my behalf. You should go forward with my full blessing" he pressed his nose to her cheek
I'd rather be hated for who I am. Than loved for who I am not.
Pollendrone was lost for words, she had never felt that way about another and yet as he spoke it was as if she could, the strength of his words cascading over her. She had been so preoccupied that finding love was never a priority, she figured if it was going to happen then it would. "Thank you, Lionpride. You've made my hope for the future even stronger." She let his nose rest on her cheek, a purr rumbling in her chest. He deserved so much better than he was getting, but despite it all he was treating her so well.
Silence filled the dark cell and after a moment Pollendrone let out a sigh. "Is it always this dark in here?" She asked as she turned her head to look around. She didnt care that it was dark, but she was starting to miss her father and the kits, she needed to fill her mind with something before she started to cry again.
"Yes, for the Sun God's light doesn't reach those who sin against him."
Bloodystar answered Pollendrone's question as he entered the chamber, his head and tail held high, in total authority. At his side was Perfectkit. The gray tabby tom was the picture of Littlecrow in all but his golden brown eyes, but he clearly had inherited the same genes as Lionpride, as he was already the size of an apprentice despite his young age. The look he gave Lionpride and Pollendrone mirrored that of his adopted father Bloodystar. Hateful. Dark.
Perfectkit sat down a couple of mice in front of his brother and soon-to-be sister in law. He was very intentional about which mouse he placed in front of which cat, double checking them a couple of times before rejoining Bloodystar's ride. Up close, the fresh-kill smelled off, clearly stuffed with herbs. Herbs that Lionpride at least would recognized from the Romance Festival. Fertility herbs.
"Pollendrone, I do hope that you have made progress with Lionpride. It breaks my heart knowing that you are fated to suffer alongside him due to his insubordination," He spok of Lionpride as if he was some unruly kit, not even glancing at the gray-furred tom, "If you'd like, Perfectkit can escort you outside for a few minutes. It's a beautiful day. But I'm afraid you'll have to eat your lunch first."

Lionpride
SunClan Prisoner
The Loveable
Lionpride growled "Just when I thought you couldn't sink any lower", he went to stand bumping hard against the ceiling of the den sending little pebbles showering down upon everyone in the confined space, but he didn't back down as he stared down his little half brother and adopted brother
"Your going to bring him into this?" he motioned towards Perfectkit with disbelief, his tail lashing from one side to the other "I find it amusing that you are so afraid of me that you have to take such drastic measures. Don't you have any shame using kits as your own personal shield? Its pathetic"
"Now Go on and get out of here, and take your stuffed mice with you" he swatted all the mice back towards Bloodystar's feet as they landed with a dull thud on the stone floor splattering a mixture of blood and herbs onto his pelt. Lionpride looked over to Pollendrone disgust written all over his face. It reminded him of how his mother would try and trick him into taking his medicine when he was a kit
Pollendrones ears shot back against her head in surprise when instead of Lionprides voice she heard Bloddystars, she looked in his direction but it was only for a moment as her attention was drawn to Perfectkit who was laying mice in front of them. She leaned forward and gave them a cautious sniff but jerked her head back when Lionpride jumped to his paws and began angrily confronting the High Priest. She quickly stood up, afraid of how far things may go between the two, ready for anything. "Lionpride..." her voice was quiet but clear, and she took a step closer to the grey tom just before he smacked the mice away from them. "What was in them?" She questioned, now completely ignoring Bloodystars presence. She had never come in contact with fertility herbs before so the strange scent mixed with the mice was unknown to her, though it did seem like Lionpride knew it.
"I asked to come! I'm not just---" Perfectkit fired back, making a move to jump between Lionpride and Bloodystar, but the High Priest put his paw on the young tom's shoulder and pulled him back, shaking his head slightly.
"That's enough, Perfectkit."
The kit grumbled but fell silent, clearly very obedient, much more obedient than Bloodystar himself had been at that age. Perfectkit took a step back but continued to glare daggers at Lionpride. Bloodystar himself leveled his celadon gaze at large gray-furred tom and did not say a word, then lifted his paw - which had been splattered with bits of mouse and fertility herbs - up to his mouth and licked it clean. He didn't break eye contact with Lionpride all the while.
"If you don't eat, she doesn't eat. And if that doesn't do it, I can see to it that more cats don't eat. Stop this pathetic fight of yours and join me in the light. It is what your mother would have wanted, back before she sold her soul to the Moon Goddess."
He ignored Pollendrone's question, she didn't need to know so long as she did what she was told...
"They're a special love potion!" Perfectkit said, proud that there was something he could contribute, "They'll make you and Lionpride and mommy and a daddy."
Bloodystar sighed but did not say anything on the matter. Perfectkit's nature was to be helpful, but he had yet to learn that it was sometimes dangerous to answer every question, no matter how simple it is.

Lionpride
SunClan Prisoner
The Loveable
Lionpride scoffed turning his nose up at the food that had been presented to them "Then we won't eat" he replied firmly, calling Bloodystar on his bluff. He wouldn't really allow them to starve, if he wanted them dead than they would have been executed already instead of stuffed together in this tiny prison "you have no right to speak of what my mother would or wouldn't want for her children. You lost that right the moment you carved that moon onto her head" he kept his voice calm and leveled, even as his younger half brother tried to intervene "Perfectkit, your trust is misplaced. The cat you are standing beside has brought nothing but pain and destruction to SunClan and your real family. Be careful..."
He didn't really believe his words would get through to Perfectkit, after all the young cat had basically been raised up by Bloodystar to believe his every word.. but he had to try. He turned to Pollendrone giving her a small nod "Its the same herbs my mother used during the romance festival for the couples trying to conceive..."
There was no answer to her question at first and she wondered if perhaps none of them had heard her, or maybe she was just being ignored since she really was just a pawn in all of this, meant to listen and obey no matter what. She watched Bloodystar with calmness, not giving a reaction at the threat of no food, she needed to keep her emotions in check and not let them see just how much this was affecting her. That plan didnt go as she wanted though as Perfectkit chimed in about the mystery herb she was meant to eat. A mom and dad? Kits? she couldn't help it as her brown eyes widened in disbelief. "You cant do this! Forcing she-cats to bare kits!" Her voice lifted in anger and she took a step toward Bloodystar. "Forcing a loveless marriage is one thing but you do not have the right to decide this! Let me starve!" Her words were followed by a rumbling growl, it was the first time she had confidently spoken out against Bloodystar, but this had hit a nerve, playing with fertility as the sun god had done.
Perfectkit looked as if he was about to say something but a sharp look from Bloodystar shut him down before he even opened his mouth. The young tom knew that coming down here had been a privilege and he wanted to do it lots of more times to prove to Bloodystar that he was a good subordinate. He couldn't afford to tarnish his perfect record now.
"My son knows better than to listen to the words of a heretic." Bloodystar growled to Lionpride just before Pollendrone's outburst. Now that surprised him, she had been nothing but obedient up until now and, given who he father was, he had assumed she would be supportive of bearing kits. It seemed he had misjudged this. Oh well, he'd make it work one way or another, "Pollendrone, calm down. These herbs will only lead you to grow closer to Lionpride. It will not control your mind or make you do anything that you do not want to do. The decision to have kits has been and always will be yours and yours alone."
It wasn't the truth but it wasn't a lie. He turned back to Lionpride now, "You eat together or not at all. Sooner or later you will give in not for yourself but for your partner.
"Oh, and Lionpride...
"When the time comes and you swear your fealty to me, I will do everything in my power to lead you to Mousepaw. I have a good idea of where she is... and let's just say it is not much better than where you sit right now."
The fact that Perfectkit was still there had left her mind as she stared daggers at Bloodystar through narrowed brown eyes, his words penetrating her ears. Gone was her calmness, her quiet and most of all her ability to see reason. She wasnt buying it, all she could hear were excuses and lies and now more than ever she regretted not taking a stand when all of this had started that first day. By the time Bloodystar had finished speaking to Lionpride, Pollendrone had pulled one of the discarded mice closest to her into her paws, lifting it into the air she hurled it at the High Priest and watched it smack the side of his head. "If you want it eaten, then eat it yourself!" She hissed.

Lionpride
SunClan Prisoner
The Loveable
Lionpride couldn't help but smirk as the mouse smacked into Bloodystar's face. He moved forward, placing himself between the High Priest and Pollendrone protectively so that any blows would fall upon him instead of the she-cat behind him. Even though he wasn't in love with Pollendrone, he had been raised as a gentleman and he wasn't about to allow the wretched creature in front of him harm a lady in his presence "That's funny, seeing as in how you have been searching for my daughter for over a moon now with no success" he remained calm, grateful for the few tidbits of information that he had managed to gather even though he was imprisoned "It seems my sickly daughter managed to slip through your claws after all"
Perfectkit tried to bat the mouse out of the air before it struck Bloodystar, but he was not fast enough. Landing on all fours, the little kit turned his eyes on his adoptive father in clear distress, sad that he hadn't been able to stop the mouse nor able to help more than he had already.
"Thanks for trying, Perfectkit. How about you take this mouse to Jetfire instead, I'm sure she'll appreciate it, she is always hungry," Bloodystar said, batting the mouse at the kit who eagerly picked it up and exited the prison. Bloodystar himself drug the significantly more damaged mouse - the one meant for Lionpride - and took a bite.
"Now where were we..." He took another bite, swallowed, and continued, "News that reaches you down here is at best two weeks old. It is true that I have found a way to locate her. If you and Pollendrone have a litter of kits, then I will give you the key to finding her. And..." He took another bite, "...I will let you decide if she should come home or stay right where she is."
Did Bloodystar just give Lionpride permission to allow Mousepaw to live away from SunClan? It was fishy, like it was too good to be true, but it didn't seem like the High Priest was lying.

Lionpride
SunClan Prisoner
The Loveable
He didn't believe it, not for one moment. If Bloodystar truly knew where his daughter was, there wasn't a chance in the dark forest that he would allow her to stay out of SunClan. She had SunClan blood running through her veins, and so long as she was alive she would always pose a threat to his leadership. His eyes narrowed moving forward until he was nose to nose with the High Priest the scent of the herb laced mouse strong in in nose "I won't bring more kits into this clan to be your little playthings Bloodycrow"
"and if YOU touch one strand of fur on Mousepaw's pelt, and you will find out how I earned my name" something much darker fell over his Golden gaze, the gentleness beginning to leave
"Bloodycrow? Clever, but I've been called worse," Bloodystar was doing a pretty good job of staying clam during all of this, but Lionpride was getting on his last nerves. The High Priest padded up to the massive silver tom but still kept a tail-length's distance between the two of them. He oozed authority: Ears and tails erect, eyes steadfast, unwavering. But one of his paws was trembling ever so slightly as he held himself back from swiping that smirk right off the other tom's face, "Does this mean Earthpaw is fair game? Don't look at my like that, I'm joking, I'm joking! I would never abuse kits or bring them any harm," He grinned, "But wait, Earthpaw is not a kit, is he? That's why he's down here, too, following his father's horrible example. I'm sure that if his mother was still around, she would have taught some sense into him. I'm getting off track though... it's your decision whether or not you want to believe me, but it doesn't change the truth. Either I find her and drag her back or you find her and make that decision. I'll let you."
