Hello all and welcome to my first major-minor (contradiction? Yes!) plot as your resident Fire Lord. This plot has many different characters with many different connections, both within MoonClan as well as in NightClan / SunClan. THE PREMISE –

Our protagonist of this plot, a black and white tom by the name of Kaikane (also known as Obsidianorchid in SunClan), is a deeply misunderstood tom that at first glance can be seen as rather stoic, cold and authoritarian. Deep down, he has dealt with many traumatic incidents in his young life – both in the present and in a past long departed from this one – and somehow through it all he has managed to gain, over his many travels throughout the lands of Classic, friends that despite his insistence that they're nothing more than pawns are loyal to him until the end.

WHO IS KAIKANE?

Kaikane is the half-brother to Dragondance of NightClan, who's recently been promoted to Loyal Guard. As such, he is a member of the Fire Family, though Dragondance is completely unaware of his existence. Kaikane is the son of a Primal Instinct she-cat, Kaiya, and the same SunClan tom who sired Dragondance. Kaikane spent his life since childhood envying Dragondance, as he believed that their father placed him on a pedestal far better than his own. This wasn't true, of course, but having only heard what he did from Kaiya and seeing what he did when his father was around, he jumped to conclusions. His life long goal has been to hunt Dragondance down and make him pay for the pain that he put Kaikane – and his mother – through by merely existing. Upon meeting his friends, however, this mission has derailed some and he's found himself in MoonClan. His friends are eager to convince him to settle down and stay with them instead of heading out on what could be deemed a perilous mission that'll end in misfortune, but he still struggles deeply with his lust for vengeance and his desire for a happiness he doesn't fully believe he deserves.

ROUGH OUTLINE OF IDEAS –

• Born as Kaikane of Primal Instinct to __ (tom who sired he and Dragondance) and Kaiya.
• From the very first moment after his birth, he saw images he could later identify as memories of another life.
• In this past life he was not known as Kaikane, but Australcraze, deputy of SunClan.
• He was a very different tom in the past: wild, flirtatious, temperamental, stubborn, childish, violent.
• After he fell in love with a she-cat named (warrior name), she became all he ever desired and controlled his ambitions so he could create a successful and plentiful life for her.
• They nearly became a couple, until she was mysteriously found dead deep in SunClan’s territory.
• Out of grief and his compass gone, he was quickly removed from his position and replaced, left to slowly decay and become a shell of who he once was.
• In the fire that ravaged and ultimately destroyed SunClan – both the lands they’d lived upon for countless seasons and who they once were – Australcraze lost his life, unwilling to fight to be in a world that didn’t want him.
• Now in this new life, Kaikane is a completely different tom from his past: calm, elegant, eloquent, stoic, authoritative, strict, fiercely disciplinary, and at times cold-blooded.
• One thing that’s remained the same between his past and present lives is the presence of the she-cat he fell in love with – and consequently became obsessed with.
• Both in the past and the present she’s represented qualities he lacks.
• In the past, she settled his wilder tendencies, allowed herself to be pulled along with the current, and enjoyed each moment one at a time.
• In this life, she’s kind, cheerful, caring, somewhat of a clutz, fiercely protective, indecisive, insecure and and emotionally immature.
• Kaikane is unwilling to accept, however, that his previous attachment to her is much different now compared to what it was then.
• Rather than love her unconditionally for who she is, he finds himself wanting her if only to say that after so long he finally has her.
• This is a trait he shares with his father, though for an entirely different reason based out of a fear of being unloved, forgotten, and left behind; a fear that manifested itself after her death when he was Australcraze and his following demotion and outcast rank in the clan.
• During his time in Primal Instinct, the journey he made from the League to MoonClan, and his time in MoonClan, he has acquired several friends – pawns – who have sworn an oath of loyalty to him.
• Despite his deep inner belief that they will leave him, they frequently remind him of their loyalty to him, rather than any clan or clan leadership.
• Kaikane frequently ponders this unwavering loyalty, both fiercely grateful and deeply unnerved that a group of individuals could believe in him.
• While he tries to keep them at arms length as much as he can, they do consider him one of their closest friends – they’re all very close – and consider him to be the reason they all found each other.
• He, on the other hand, does not like this line of conversation as it often makes him uncomfortable with their praise and gratitude.
• Kaikane’s of the mind that they’re pawns he’s gathered to be a means to an end, contributing actively to his secret mission, but inwardly desperately wishes he could see them as they truly are: friends.
• Of these friends, one is closest to him: a tom who he considers his right-hand, his confidante, the one who doesn’t have to speak to him in words to understand what he’s thinking.
• An unspoken agreement’s been made between them: Kaikane’s acknowledged his right-hand’s feelings for him, but can’t reciprocate due to his continued attachment to his past lover; meanwhile, his right-hand agrees that he’ll wait as long as necessary for Kaikane to accept that whatever short chemistry he and his past lover had is long gone.
• Kaikane’s right-hand isn’t exactly selfless, however. There’s an undercurrent of selfishness regarding Kaikane, a level of possessiveness that only Kaikane can appreciate and return.

KAIKANE'S FOLLOWERS –

Position: Kaikane's right-hand man & love interest
Personality: Kind, considerate, passionate, friendly, extroverted, intelligent, wise, patient, romantic, determined
Connection: Kaikane first met Athelstan shortly after leaving the League to begin his mission going after Dragondance. Athelstan was the first one to look at him like he wasn't a monster or mentally unstable because he came from the League. He is Kaikane's closest friend and ally, giving him the position of his right-hand, and while Kaikane deep down holds romantic feelings for him, he keeps these hidden because of his desire for Setsuna. Athelstan, on the other hand, doesn't mind waiting for forever and then some for Kaikane to come around. This doesn't mean that he doesn't decide to take matters into his own paws at times and influence situations so that Kaikane may open his eyes to the reality of his situation with Setsuna and that his happily ever after is right beside him.

VIHAN – dawn { image
Position: The Enforcer (ensures no one looks down upon or acts against Kaikane)
Personality: Calm, collected, peacemaker between Ren and Azura, perceptive, sensitive to the emotions of others, loyal, protective
Connection: Kaikane stumbled across Vihan one day when close to the rogue hangout in Twolegplace. The tom was attempting to cool a situation against a couple of rogues who had accused him of stealing their prey. Vihan is, admittedly, only loyal and remains with Kaikane because Azura's so unyieldingly faithful to Kaikane. Her feelings for Kaikane frequently upset him, as he's aware Kaikane doesn't reciprocate her adoration, and often gets rebuffed when attempting to strike up any sort of flirtation or courtship with her.

REN – lotus { image
Position: The Dependable (fiercely trusts Kaikane & lives to serve him)
Personality: Outgoing, charismatic, can either be friendly and cheerful to you one moment or cruel the next, flirts ingenuously
Connection: Kaikane first met Ren because of Vihan. Vihan and Ren were childhood friends, and while Vihan held some distrust toward Kaikane, Ren immediately became infatuated with the cool and collected tom who seemed to radiate power despite not having any. He quickly idolized Kaikane for his ability to remain superior to others even when in situations where he was forced to yield to others. Despite this, he often winds up getting into situations that could have been avoided, dragging Vihan along with him, and being punished for his recklessness by Kaikane. Regardless, Ren is still very much devoted and loyal to Kaikane, even going so far as to become jealous of anyone who seems to hold more favor with him or earns his insight more. 

ELIAN – a moment in time { image
Position: The Guard (keeps to himself but ensures he's close by if Kaikane needs battle assistance)
Personality: Usually impassive and detached, rarely expresses emotion, reserved, verbally blunt, laidback to the point of seeming apathetic, is often walked all over
Connection: Kaikane took Elian and Akari in when they were much younger than he was. While some may see their relationship more as guardian and ward, he's insistent that they not defer to him as such, as he's never desired having children or being responsible for anyone. Despite this, much like Sitara, they internally – and when it's only the two of them – refer to him as a father figure. Elian and Akari are inseparable.

AZURA – lapis lazuli { image
Position: The Lovestruck (desperately attempts to maintain Kaikane's sparkling image while dealing with unrequited love towards him)
Personality: Outwardly appears haughty, bored, unapproachable, uninterested. Often shows disdain towards those she considers beneath her. Her infatuation and possessiveness over Kaikane makes her hot-tempered and jealous, but it has also made her vulnerable and frequently doubt herself, though this is often only in private with Vihan.
Connection: Kaikane first met Azura when she was being attacked by a tom who she had just rejected. The tom had, apparently, flown into a rage and Azura had been caught off guard. Kaikane had jumped to her rescue and ever since, Azura's been infatuated. Despite her constant rejections of Vihan's advances, she's fully aware that Kaikane does not – and will never – return her feelings, but continues to hold out hope, despite often being warned off by Athelstan. She has a bit of a love-hate relationship with Athelstan, as she's grateful Kaikane at least has someone that will fight for him, while also despising Athelstan for his ability to be close to Kaikane in a way she can only dream of.

Position: The Outlier (more loyal to Elian than Kaikane but will be devoted to Kaikane as long as Elian is)
Personality: Akari's personality is very similar to Elian, though she often tries to get him to stand up for himself and take care of himself
Connection: See Elian's connection.

SITARA – star { image
Position: Kaikane's left-hand & trusted spy
Personality: No-nonsense, cold, loyal, efficient, practical, deadly, temperamental towards others, eternally honest, violently protective
Connection: Kaikane first met Sitara when she and her sister had been taken by a gang of rogues who wished to manipulate the family-clan they had come from into giving them whatever they desired. When this rogue gang wasn't given what they wanted, they attempted to take Sitara and her sister's lives. Kaikane was able to step in and send the rogues off. Kaikane was able to help Sitara and her sister to safety, but Sitara's sister quickly succumbed to her wounds. Despite Kaikane blaming himself for Sitara's sister's death, Sitara has remained dutifully at his side, believing that fate meant for Kaikane to find her and take her in. While she would never say it to his face, she considers Kaikane to be a father to her and often regards him as such in her thoughts.

Position: The Diplomat (Kaikane's most trusted confidante next to Athelstan & social mediator)
Personality: Cheerful, enthusiastic, caring, is capable of being deadly and threatening when prompted, his constant smile masks his emotions, is the only one – other than Athelstan – who can bring up Kaikane's flaws and negative traits without angering him
Connection: Kaikane grew up with Jacek in Primal Instinct. When Kaikane came to the realization that it was Dragondance's existence that made his and Kaiya's lives difficult, Jacek was the one who, after failing to convince him to stay and see the situation in another way, decided to leave behind his family in the League and travel with him. Jacek sees Athelstan and the tom's deep, unyielding love for Kaikane as Kaikane's salvation, which often leads to Jacek acting as a 'wingman' for Athelstan, gauging Kaikane's reactions to certain things and obtaining his deepest thoughts in regards to Athelstan. Jacek's mission, as opposed to Kaikane's, is to convince Kaikane to let go of his misguided anger and allow himself to heal.

THE OUTSIDERS –

These are those characters that are either considered an enemy of Kaikane's (in the instance of Zen) or keep Kaikane from moving on (in the instance of Setsuna).

ZENOBIUS (ZEN) – life { image — TAKEN BY @samiam
Position: The Adversary (Kaikane's rival in the game of winning Setsuna's heart)
Personality: Generally composed, protective of Setsuna, can come across to others as cold-hearted and hostile, gentle, quiet and kind with those he trusts, often lets his temper get away from him when provoked, particularly when Kaikane's around
Connection: Kaikane didn't encounter Zen until Kaikane discovered the existence of Setsuna. While Kaikane was convinced Setsuna remembered her past life in SunClan – and thus their love – Zen was convinced Kaikane only wanted to cage her in and keep her prisoner for his mind games. As such, Zen deeply dislikes Kaikane, though there are times when he must rely on Kaikane due to his influence.

SETSUNA – calm snow { image
Position: The Prey (Kaikane's trophy in the game against Zen & the only one standing in the way of Kaikane and happiness)
Personality: Generally cheerful, caring and comedic, considered a total clutz, and fiercely protective of those she considers need her as their guardian
Connection: Though she doesn't fully remember her past life with Kaikane, there are the occasional snippets that will often leave her with headaches or experiencing night terrors. Despite this inability to connect the dots between her and Kaikane, she's convinced herself she's in love with him and often finds herself at a loss of words and actions when faced with him. While she can be a sweet girl, she experiences jealousy in regards to Athelstan and his close relationship with Kaikane. In her own twisted way, Setsuna is fighting for Kaikane to be with her, tempting him to her side as often as she can afford while remaining under Athelstan's radar. Surprise, Athelstan's too aware of Setsuna's toxicity to let that slide.
