Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(This was a super hard decision to make!! Every candidate was more than qualified to be my new deputy!! But unfortunately, I can only choose one! And one character in particular seemed to stand out the most and really fit into the part!)
Flamingstar walked to over to the naturally curved stone that she called her throne and took a seat, her body fitting perfectly in the curve of the stone. Light reflecting crystals surrounded her throne, giving it a natural and beautiful glow. The dark ginger Nightclan warrior looked elegant and majestic among her throne. Her owl, Nyra, flew in and perched at the top of her throne, just above Flamingstar. "All those old enough to catch their own prey, gather here before my throne for a clan meeting!" She called, her voice echoing and bouncing off the cavern walls. She waited until all of her clan gathered into the main cavern and looked up expectantly at her. "Dragondance, Raveneye, Magnoliashadow, please step forward." She watched as the three cats stepped up, confusion in their gazes. "A day ago, I had the three of you complete a mission for me. I needed each of you to bring back a deserter that had escaped Nightclan. Unfortunately, one had gotten away but the three of you managed to bring two of them back to us. There was a reason I had asked you to do this mission for me. As you know, our deputy, Firewind, has been too injured to perform his duties and has decided to retire. I have tested the three of you to see which of you would be Nightclan's new deputy. Each of you were extraordinary but one cat in particular showed great promise. This cat chose words to bring in our deserter rather than claws and followed her heart to make the best decisions for the task." She scanned the three candidates before her with a grin.
"Without further ado, I must now choose my deputy. Raveneye, congratulations. You are Nightclan's new deputy." She announced, hearing the Nightclan cats cheer her name and congratulate her. She waited for the noise to die down before continuing. "However, the remaining cats have also showed great promise and therefore, I feel it would be wrong not to offer them a position in the Loyal Guard. Dragondance, Magnoliashadow, do you accept this offer to become Nightclan's newest Loyal Guard members?"

The tabby, who had found nothing but questions circulating in his head since the mission he and the two other she-cats had been sent on, glanced at the white and black she-cat who sat at his side. He offered her a small private smile, his gaze giving her what reassurance he could and stepped forward at the summons. Taking a seat next to the two she-cats he'd found himself quickly becoming acquainted with – whether positive or negative – he gazed up at the leader with narrowed eyes.
"A day ago, I had the three of you complete a mission for me. I needed each of you to bring back a deserter that had escaped NightClan."
Dragondance's heart clenched. He knew they hadn't been entirely successful – Leafflight had flown past the border before he could catch up to her – but he hadn't thought they would be publicly outed for their failure. He resisted the urge to look back at Koilagoon. He would wait to speak his mind once they were alone.
"Unfortunately, one had gotten away but the three of you managed to bring two of them back to us. There was a reason I had asked you to do this mission for me."
The tabby stiffened. It was time. All of his questions would receive answers in this moment.
"As you know, our deputy, Firewind, has been too injured to perform his duties and has decided to retire. I have tested the three of you to see which of you would be NightClan's new deputy."
Horror filled him, causing his ears to ring so loudly he wasn't able to hear the praises falling from her tongue. That was it? The reason why they were sent after the siblings in the first place? It was all a test to choose her deputy? Rage simmered hidden beneath his rib cage. Did that mean those siblings were nothing more than bait? Pawns once more manipulated for the gain of others. He felt nauseous. He would never forgive himself for gaining anything by way of a reward for their free will having been taken advantage.
"Without further ado, I must now choose my deputy. Raveneye, congratulations. You are NightClan's new deputy."
Relief flooded him, cooling the fire that raged within like icy water splashing across molten lava, turning it into strange clusters of blackened stone. Raveneye was exactly what Flamingstar needed as her right hand; someone poised to attack, who accepted violence as a part of life rather than a weapon of destruction. He let out a heavy sigh of solace and allowed himself to glance back at his mate, a tenderness in his gaze. They would be alright.
"However, the remaining cats have also showed great promise and therefore, I feel it would be wrong not to offer them a position in the Loyal Guard. Dragondance, Magnoliashadow, do you accept this offer to become NightClan's newest Loyal Guard members?"
The tabby froze. He hadn't expected this to be a path that could be followed. He swallowed in discomfort, nerves once more bundling together in his stomach. He had to make a decision and Flamingstar nor the rest of the clan would wait for him to think it over. It was now or never. He glanced at Koilagoon from the corner of his eye, but found for the first time that it offered him no comfort, only more distress. If he declined the position, he and his mate could find themselves in a similar scenario as the siblings that had run from what was once their home and was now their prison. But if he accepted... Could he live with what he would be expected to take on as his responsibility?
He needed to think about his family. The new family that he had found in Koilagoon and the few allies he had.
"Yes." He croaked out before clearing his throat quietly and repeating himself, loud enough for the clearing to hear. "Yes, I accept. I will be... a loyal guard."

The half-blind she-cat took her place beside Dragondance and Magnoliashadow as the meeting began. Of course she had always wondered what the purpose of the mission the three of them had been sent on and now surprise flooded through her as Flamingstar continued to speak. Raveneye's blue eye rose to meet her leader's gaze as the words fell from her lips.
Without further ado, I must now choose my deputy. Raveneye, congratulations. You are NightClan's new deputy.
Words seemed to be caught in her throat and she sat in her place, almost as still as a statue. Her? Deputy? She could not believe what her ears were telling her she was hearing. After a brief second of stunned silence and surprise, the lithe black she-cat subtly shook out her pelt and rose to her feet. She lifted her chin and bowed her head towards the leader. "Thank you for this incredible honor, Flamingstar. I will serve you and Nightclan to the best of my abilities and until my dying breath." Her voice rang strong and true across the clearing, sounding much more confident and put together than she actually felt on the inside.
The black and white she-cat lingered with the gathered cats as Dragondance stepped forward and the announcement was made. She'd watched his shoulders slump in relief only to tense up again as he was offered another position. When he looked to her, she met his gaze, though he could hide it from most there was no concealing the distress in his eyes from her.
Only once he had accepted his new rank among the loyal guard did the chimera move forward to greet her mate. Purring she ran her nouse along his jaw until he head was tucked under his chin. "I'm proud of you" she spoke softly, so that only he could hear. The truth was she would of been proud of him had he accepted the position or not.
"Congratulations Raveneye!" she added a bit louder turning her tropical gaze on the new deputy. "You too Magnoliashadow, That couldn't of been an easy task, I'm sure."

The tabby lifted his head, his gaze finally settling on the black she-cat he now had to acknowledge as his superior. “Congratulations, Raveneye.” He rumbled with a dip of his head. “You will be a great deputy.” Turning, he glanced back at his mate before walking past her and toward the camp entrance, glancing back at her with an expectant but curious gaze. The clear cut line he placed between himself and Magnoliashadow was evident enough in his lack of acknowledgement of her. He may have started to change his view of Raveneye, but the same couldn’t be said for the other she-cat.

Firewind, the former deputy, sat outside the medicine den with his injured hind leg sticking out awkwardly. It was broken in a recent battle with rogues and he was told he'd have a permanent limp for the rest of his life. Watching Flamingstar announce his replacement was hard but he knew he had made the right decision in stepping down. Raveneye will make a fine deputy, he thought as he watched the newly named deputy of NightClan.

Unused to the praise she was receiving, Raveneye accepted it with an awkward nod. "Thank you both. I really appreciate it." She replied to the couple giving each of them a small smile. The newly named deputy was still unsure of her view on Dragondance as she believe he did not know when to draw the line, but nevertheless he was a capable warrior and would make a good addition to the Loyal Guard. "And congratulations on becoming a member of the Loyal Guard, Dragondance."

Stopping in his tracks, he turned his head to gaze back at the she-cat from the corner of his eye, though there was no smile on his face or any aura of happiness from his being. "Thank you." Though his words were grateful, there was a tone to them that spoke volumes: This wasn't what he genuinely wanted. He wanted what was best for his mate and her comfort. Whatever that was... He couldn't be sure. He knew being in a more stable, responsible role could offer her more luxury and room to allow herself some relaxation. They wouldn't have to prove their worth nearly as hard as they once did, but all the same, he now found himself in a situation where he would be constantly watched for his behavior. He nodded to the she-cat.
Frozenfire looked on with narrowed eyes. She watched as Raveneye was dubbed the new deputy, and rage burned in her heart. When she'd suggested the test to Flamingstar, she'd hoped the lot would fall for it. Instead the trio had managed to figure out the game, and had proceeded to pass Flamingstar's test.
And now once again the path to power was denied her. Her claws scraped against the stone.
'No, this is fine,' She thought to herself. 'I can work with this,'
After all, with her not being the deputy Flamingstar had no reason to see her throne as being threatened with her around. Likely why all of the candidates were fairly young cats, with Raveneye having been a former prisoner.
Once her plan went into fruition, Raveneye would simply be an unfortunate casualty in Frozenfire's quest to fix what had been done to her beloved Ericanorth.
'I hope you're watching Erica, vengeance is coming to those who took you from me,'

Duskwing let out a purr. "The possibility of a loyal guard position! That is good!" She said proud of her niece doing so well.
Squirrelleap shifted a bit awkwardly, things a bit weird between him and Magnoliashadow. Though their one night together had been nice, he hadn't entirely expected kits to come of it. And though he did his best to be friendly towards them and be a good father, he felt unsure how to feel about Magnoliashadow.
They weren't together together, but they had kits. He was beginning to understand how such things got a cat like Deal in hot water.
Flamingstar watched as the cats were crowded with the members of the clan, being congratulated for their new positions. She gracefully left her throne and approached Raveneye. "I know I have made a good choice in choosing you. I have no doubt that you will disappoint me." Her turquoise eyes rested on Dragondance. "I'm also honored to have you on the Loyal Guard. I'm glad you accepted."
Raveneye dipped her head in respect to Flamingstar, feeling slightly embarrassed at being put on the spot. "Thank you Flamingstar. You can always count me." She replied as she straightened her posture. The black she-cat backed away and moved to the outside of the crowd to gather a little space. Big crowds had never been a thing she liked to be a part of. The shadows seemed to welcome her as she blended in and she let her thoughts wander. Deputy. So much responsibility in that title. Could she really do it? Of that, she had no doubt.

Softpaw was in awe of the announcement. It had seemed like only yesterday he'd met Raveneye, a sweet newly-initiated warrior with enough optimism for the both of them. Now, she was the deputy of NightClan! He couldn't believe it was true, but he was overflowing with happiness for her. Eagerly waiting for his chance to go over to her, he watched the deputy step out of the crowd and into the shadows. There was his opportunity, and it couldn't have been more perfect. Skirting past his celebratory clanmates, he ran up to the she-cat with so much enthusiasm he nearly bowled her over. "Raveneye! Congratulations!"

Raveneye lifted her head at the pattering of paws and spotted the young apprentice streaking towards her. A smile stretched across her face and a purr came out of her throat as her friend approached. The she-cat stumbled as the apprentice bowled into her, letting out a laugh at Softpaw's antics. "Hello Softpaw! And thank you. It was a pleasant surprise." Raveneye responded, straightening back up and shaking out her ruffled pelt.
