Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Lilacbane waited for Snowcloak to show himself, she was in the early stages of pregnancy with his litter. More than anything she wanted the MoonClan tom to move into DayClan with her and... Maybe also learn about her secrets. They had been dating for a while, but now it was time for him to choose if he was going to be more than a boyfriend and raise a family with her and so much more.
It was a tough farewell to his family and clanmates, especially his old mentor, Silverstreak. But it was a necessary one. All the times he spent with Lilacbane made him realize how unhappy he was in MoonClan with all that was going on and that it was time to move onto something better, something new. Surprisingly though, they all took his decision well, at least on the surface. He was sure someone was upset about it but that was something of the past at this point. He was already halfway to the meeting spot him and Lilacbane had agreed on whenever they would get together. I hope she hasn't been waiting for too long...
As he approached the spot, the sweet familiar smell of Lilacbane filled his nose and it brought a smile to his face. "The fun has arrived!" he said excitedly as he burst through the brush to face her.
Lilacbane stifled a bit of laughter, "And I couldn't be happier. Do you think you would maybe be ready to take it to the next step and move into DayClan?" She asked, her paw subconsciously moving over her pregnant belly, "I know my family would love to meet you," She said and for once he could see a shy side to her, one she hadn't shown before. The first time they met she had been complaining a bit about her parents, after all.
He nodded. "I think thats what we agreed on, right? Wait a minute...your family?" He thought back to when they met on the border and what brought her there in the first place."I thought you didn't like your family?" he asked skeptically but he wasn't too serious about it. They were younger and full of angst so it could have been a situational response. He shook his ead and nuzzled her. "Nevermind that. I would love to meet the soon-to-be grandparents."
"Ohhhh yeah, we are uh- on better terms, my parents and I. Lately I've been sneaking out to see you because my parents grounded me for running away to train with a dangerous rogue late into my apprenticeship. She was cool though, but I am kind of stuck in camp for a while," Lilacbane said bashfully, finding it embarrassed that her parents had grounded her into warriorhood. Maybe that wouldn't have worked if her mother wasn't Windchaser. She was a fierce Immortal Council member that no one except seemingly her, messed with.
It was an evitability that she would have gotten caught, but he didn't expect her to get grounded, even as a warrior. That was absurd! But everyone's parenting is different. At least now they would be able to spend more time together. That is, if her parents accepted him. From how Lilacbane was described them, they seemed kind of tough on her. He wondered about that, but it would have to wait until they got there. "Oh? A dangerous rogue, you say?" he asked jokingly. "What kind of training were you getting?"
"A lot of desert training weirdly enough. So if we ever fight in a battle or on the beach I got your back," Lilacbane laughed because the chances of that were incredibly unlikely. Lilacbane began leading Snowcloak to camp, trying to figure out everything important to tell him, "Okay sooo in DayClan we follow the warrior code and StarClan. We have some tiny changes to the warrior code like we can eat two-leg garbage where as in other clans that's frowned upon. DayClan is strong in every season except leafbare. Because of the open field lands there's non stop blizzards so we sometimes move our camp into an abandoned two-leg den just to stay safe from the storm. Because the prey leaves we will resort to eating any food we can. Other than that though our only other danger are SunClan cats. They're our allies, but they're real awful people that we just put up with."
"Hmm. Interesting, interesting," he spoke aloud, a habit he's picked up over time. DayClan didn't sound bad at all but there was one thing he was curious about. "You mentioned StarClan. I dont know how much you know about MoonClan but we, er, they, worship the Moon Goddess, but lately its been a bit dicey as far as religion goes. I was never a real believer of anything, yaknow? Will that be a problem at all?" He didn't have a problem with following the warrior code or anything else.
"We have people of all religions here, some believe in the Blind Protector, a religion in Renegade and others don't believe in anything," Lilacbane explained as she guided Snowcloak towards DayClan, "I've heard about the Moon Goddess though, she seems cool, better than the Sun God, anyways. I've also been thinking of kit names, I hope you don't mind," She smiled, her paw tracing over her mates cheek, sending pleasant tingles across his face.
"Ah well that's good, I suppose. That's true..." he thought aloud. He was about to make another comment, but the touch of her paw surprised him for a moment. Not that he wasn't used to it by now, but it was always a lovely feeling. "You said kit names...what names did you have in mind?" he asked curiously. It didn't hit him until just then that he was actually going to be a father. He knew before but he didn't realize how close it was for them to be born. His own flesh and blood. He was overcome with mixed emotions, happy, but also nervous at the same time. Without waiting for her answer to his previous question, he asked, "How much longer until, you know..."
(Since this takes place a month ago Lilac's pregnancy estimate is a lot longer than it already is. I'll get to work on the kitting thread and show it to you beforehand for you to look through first!)
"A whole moon, there's time," Lilacbane purred, "Tumble was one, just sounds cute, probably for a tom, and then Bunny for a she-kit. Our medicine cat isn't the best at estimating, but I think there's at least three kits in me. I am worried it'll be a big litter, that will hurt a lot for my first. I hate to burden you when it's not traditional, but could you be there and hold your paw over mine when I'm kitting. I'm scared..."
Snowcloak nodded in understanding. "Of course I'll be there if that's something you want me to do; its not a burden at all," he assured her. "But im going to be honest here and say that I may or may not freak out when the time comes," he added with a little chuckle.
"That's okay, because between you and me," Lilacbane looked both ways as though expecting someone to be listening in before giving him a sneaky smile, "I'll be freaking out too so we can both flip out on the medicine cat," She said, leaning her head away from him with a smirk.
"I have some sisters here too, by the way. Buttercupglow, Zinniaswirl, Rosewater, and Eveningpaw. Buttercupglow and Zinniaswirl aren't warriors though, they're Animal Whisperers. They devote their life to studying animals. Buttercupglow studies prey habits so hunters have a better understanding and ability to catch prey. Then Zinniaswirl studies predators, specifically horses in the two-leg area. Horses get spooked easily and have been smashing a few cats limbs by mistake so her job is to prevent that from happening," Lilacbane explained.
Ooh that sounds interesting. "I'd like to meet all of your family members, of course," he said with a smile. "Oh, that reminds me, and I'm pretty sure it's a dumb question, but they know about me, about us, right?" Saying it aloud, he sounded rather silly but he wanted to be sure before he got to DayClan. He wanted to avoid any animosity between him and its members. He knew, at least, back in MoonClan, his family definitely would have questioned him over about it.
"I'm afraid not." Came a stern voice before a ginger and white tabby she-cat stepped forward. Just by her pelt, it was clear she was Lilacbane's mother. Her green eyes were surprisingly cold and suspicious as they held Snowcloak in their grasp. He reeked of Moonclan and she had to force herself not to gag. Although, gagging would give him a clear message that he was not welcomed. Instead, mother bear instincts kicked in and she felt the need to protect her daughter even if she wasn't in immediate danger. She moved forward to pushed Snowcloak away from her daughter, the fur along her shoulders and back rising. "You have three seconds to book it before I show you what a mother's wrath feels like."
Snowcloak took a few steps back but stood his ground. Dang...of course someone would show up at a time like this. From the way it sounded and from her appearance, it must have been Lilacbane's mother, the strict she-cat who grounded her own daughter well into warriorhood. "You must be her mother...I'm not the bad guy here," he tried explaining. "Believe it or not, I'm actually Lilacbane's boyfriend and I was moving to DayClan by her invitation." That was probably not the best thing to say in this situation but it was an attempt to clear up what was going on here.
"Mother, this is my boyfriend Snowcloak, we've... Known each other since we were apprentices and now we want to raise our family together. These kits are his, I know you were probably hoping that they were a DayClan tom, but he's going to be a member of DayClan too. I think it's honorable that he's willing to move in and raise a family with me," She said sincerely before smirking with a clear blush along her cheeks, "And super cute and charming of him," Lilacbane said more dreamily.
"What?" Windchaser growled, spinning around to face her daughter. "Boyfriend? And these are his kits?" Outrage was burning in her eyes with a mixture of hurt and disappointment. "I don't care if he's willing to move to Dayclan. He's a Moonclan tom! The complete opposite of our clan. He wouldn't last a few sunrises in Dayclan before he runs back to his own clan in tears." She flexed her claws. "What angers me the most is that you deliberately held this from me until now. Clearly you have been seeing each other for a while and you kept it a secret from your own mother!"
"Uh...ummm...," Snowcloak wasn't sure what more he could say that would alleviate the tension that had built up. Lilacbane didn't tell him she was this hostile towards outsider. With that in mind, he couldn't imagine what her siblings were like. He looked between the two of the them. Would he end up being sent back to the place he said he wouldn't return or would he be able to convince them?
"No one else in DayClan was going to give me a real battle, Snowcloak always did! Oh yeah, MoonClan tom. Take a look, there's not a lot of winners in DayClan," She had been arguing over her mom at this point with an equal amount of spitfire as her mom had. However as her mom continued to scold her for keeping this a secret she felt more ashamed. If she had been an apprentice she would have kept arguing, but after being grounded for so long she was forced to reflect on her behavior. She hadn't always been fair to her mom, talking back, always judging before trying anything. Maybe she should have told her mom about Snowcloak instead of being afraid that she'd take away the only good and interesting person from her.
Lilacbane's tail fell low and her ears drooped as she lowered her head to her mother, "I'm sorry for keeping this a secret, that was disrespectful to you as a superior, but most of all as my mom." She was certain that she had been grounded before not only because Windchaser felt she deserved it for running away, but also to show she could accept her punishment with humility and grace. That way when the Imperials got together to decide the apprentices social classes she would get Peacekeeper instead of Maverick. Now though she not only was proving to her mother that she hadn't learned anything about being honest to her, but also had likely been sneaking out of camp during her grounding to see Snowcloak.
"I thought if I told you about Snowcloak you would think I hadn't learned my lesson from last time I ran off with a stranger. Or would think I'm not ready to be a warrior because if I had enough time to go across the border to meet him then I had enough plenty of time to use it for training and focusing on my clan instead of him. I didn't think I could trust you," Lilacbane admitted.
