Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Windchaser was surprised that her daughter had given up so easily. Usually Lilacbane was quite argumentive. "Clearly you haven't learned your lesson, Lilacbane." Windchaser forced herself not to flinch when her own daughter told her that she didn't trust her. Perhaps she had been too harsh on Lilacbane but all that Windchaser had done for Lilacbane was to protect her. After losing a litter to Foxbane, she couldn't bare to lose anymore of her kits. While Foxbane is attempting to redeem herself, there are just some things that cannot be mended. Because of that incident, she had been far more over protective of her kits and Lilacbane was clearly a free spirit, much like herself, which made Windchaser all the more concerned. She saw more of herself in Lilacbane than in any of her other kits and knowing that frightened her because of the danger her and Illuminatedpath put themselves in when they were young.
"We will discuss this later on." She turned back to Snowcloak. "Unfortunately it is not my role to turn you away. Since you have come this far already, I will take you to Glowstar and she can make the final decision whether or not you can stay." Windchaser began to head back to camp, flicking her tail to signal for the young couple to follow her.
So he wouldn't be sent back to MoonClan. Snowcloak felt a wave of relief wash over him. "T-thank you," he said as he went to Lilacbane's side. Nuzzling her, he apologized. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cause her any more trouble between the two of you." He knew it was an ongoing thing but he didn't think their relationship was damaged like that. In a way it kind of reminded him of his own relationship with his family so he could empathize with her. Noticing that Windchaser was taking the lead back to camp, he nudged his mate. "Let's go see what Glowstar will say about me staying."
"Glowstar never turns anyone away, we'll be okay," Lilacbane promised him.
DayClan's camp was tucked inside of a small valley with four narrow waterfalls rolling over the top into the valleys ponds. There were a few trees scattered about the borders of the valley walls and ruins in the center of camp. There weren't any dens visible the way most clan camps were. However the massive wisteria tree to the right felt forbidding, important, but that was exactly where they were headed.
"We live in dens behind the waterfalls," Lilacbane said, as though knowing he might be wondering about that. For most clans that would be odd, but given that DayClan allowed outsiders onto their lands and even in camp it made sense. Outsiders could still enjoy the valley, but wouldn't intrude on families in their den unless welcomed.
Windchaser led the couple into the camp and signaled for them to halt. She proceeded to make a beeline for Glowstar. "Glowstar." She greeted with a respectful dip of her head. "We have a specific cat looking to join Dayclan. A Moonclan tom...and the father to my grandkits." She explained with a very unenthused expression, leaning more towards an irritable look.
"He'll be accepted unless he's a spy," Glowstar said, looking at Windchaser carefully. It wasn't her place to judge whether Windchaser approved of the tom or not, but it was her place as an immortal council member and imperial class to have a say in the consequences, "What would you like to do about it?"
Snowcloak looked between the two of them, unsure of what his fate would be. He had no idea what Glowstar would think of him but now that she asked Windchaser for her opinion, his uncertainty grew. She clearly didn't like him so that might sway the leader's decision. He nervously looked at Lilacbane. She said she wouldn't turn anyone away. He had to trust her at least.
Windchaser looked back at the couple, thinking about her decision. "Clearly grounding my daughter didn't work last time." She responded at last, turning back to Glowstar. "I think she needs a more severe punishment. I don't trust that Moonclan tom to be my daughter's mate. I think she should be made a maverick, especially if he is going to join."
A maverick? What's that? He had to admit the title sounded cool, but in the context Windchaser used it, it had to have been something bad, perhaps a position? But to be sure he asked the question. "Um...excuse me, but what is a maverick?"
Glowstar's left ear flicked briefly at the mention of making Lilacbane a Maverick, her only indication of a reaction. She nodded to Windchaser, "You're her mother, normally I would say no, but given the circumstances I won't stand in your way. We should speak privately after all is said and done."
Recently another new cat had joined DayClan, Glowstar hadn't thought much of it, but she had watched Lilacbane's reactions and realized that this outsider must have been the cat Lilacbane ran off with her to train her. She hadn't wanted to tell anything about this to Windchaser until she was certain this was the case, but now that she was it was all the more reason for Lilacbane to be kept on a tight leash. She didn't know much about Snowcloak, but she was almost certain that he was more trustworthy than Lilacbane. If that was the case then him being able to say no to Lilacbane especially if it endangered his future family would be important.
Lilacbane stared miserably at the ground, this was humiliating, but even she knew that this wasn't the clans lowest rank. The clans lowest rank was Forsaken and because of this she didn't raise her voice to her mom. She didn't want to risk a threat of being made forsaken class and for as much as her mom loved her she knew that she would do it if she felt she was too out of control.
"Snowcloak, you're welcome as a member of DayClan, I'm sorry that your arrival is met with dramatic circumstances, but I would like you to feel welcome here regardless. I can fetch you some warriors to make you feel comfortable in your new den by building you a nest," Glowstar offered.
"What does this mean, now that I'm a maverick?" Lilacbane asked to her mother, finally managing to talk after the initial shock. She was glad that Glowstar was talking to Snowcloak because she didn't know what to say to him now that she was maverick. What would that mean for the two of them? They were going to be parents and shouldn't she make sure that they made a nest big enough for the two of them and their upcoming kits?
Snowcloak's eyes widened with surprised briefly before dipping his head. "I thank you, Glowstar," he started to say before glancing over to Lilacbane, "But that won't be necessary. If it alright with you, I would appreciate it if Lilacbane could help me." She is my mate after all, he thought but refrained from saying. Although, she accepted into the clan, it didn't feel like the right thing to say in the moment; he didn't want to make things any more awkward than they already were.
Windchaser's expression hardened as Snowcloak suggested Lilacbane to help. "You'd expect the queen pregnant with your kits to help you make a nest? Arent you suppose to be the tom cat and build a nest for yourself and her? Or are you that shallow to properly care for a family?" Windchaser's voice was harsh as she spoke, hoping to make the tom feel too uncomfortable to stick around for too long.
He shook his head quickly. Now that he thought about it, his request did sound rather selfish. But that's not what he meant. "No, its not like that. I just wanted to spend time with her," he explained looking down, shuffling his paws. Windchaser was really making it tough for him to be there, but he was there for Lilacbane and his kits. He couldn't let her hostility get to him. He would either have to learn to live with the animosity or find a way to show her his worth, the latter being the most reasonable. But the question was how could he do that?
"He has the right to spend time with me," Lilacbane said evenly with the last bit of bite she had in her before coming up beside Snowcloak, "Come on, we can go choose a den together," She said, her fluffy curly Q tail nudging Snowcloak forward to get further away from her mom.
(Unless you guys want to post more we could stop it here)
Windchaser opened her mouth to object but the two had already gone. At that moment, Windchaser vowed to herself that even if it was the last thing she does, she would make sure her daughter ended up with a Dayclan tom instead of a Moonclan tom.
