Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It hadn't been long since their escape from Sunclan in a successful rescue to save Kotori from being executed. The Nightclan leader was sore from their run through Sunclan territory. She wasnt used to running that far for that long so she supposed she would need to work on her stamina and strength if that were to ever happen again. Though the leader wasnt running through Nightclan territory due to the thick fog that plagued the land, she figured a walk would do just as well for her. Her body ached but as she walked on, the tight muscles warmed and loosened, making it less painful. In her walk, she heard a stick crack in the fog. Perking her ears, she peered through but saw nothing. "I know your there! Come out!" She wasnt sure who or what had made the stick crack but it was definitely heavier than prey. Her fur began to bristle as she was overwhelmed with anticipation.
"Don't bite," Kotori teased, walking out with his tail playfully between his legs, "just your fellow neighborhood serial killer out for a walk," He smirked deviously, his tail raising once more.
His exotic green eyes glinted copper in the moonlight, "I couldn't get you out of my head after you came into SunClan like that..." For a moment the silence hung awkwardly before his smile for once didn't look clever or sly, but genuine and soft, "I like you too. You're a fun partner in crime and all, but I don't just spend all this time with you gossip about our next hit or whose world we can mess up next. And I don't see you as some pure hearted angel of a leader leader like Bleakwind does, but I also don't look at you like some criminal mastermind." He walked up to her watching as how the moonlight winked in and out as the clouds moved fast overhead, she looked like a flickering fire, "You're a flaming star in every dark day I have. I hope I'm a light in your darkest moments too," He looked away as though trying to find the words he was looking for.
Flamingstar breathed a breath of relief when she realized it was Kotori. A casual smirk played on her lips as he joked about her biting, though, it soon melted into a rather shocked expression. Well, her version of shocked. She listened on, occasionally blinking and flicking her tail. Kotori did say he wanted to marry her in Sunclan camp and she did want to bring it up to him eventually but she hadn't planned on it so soon. She hadn't even planned out what she would say to him. She liked Bleakwind and often thought about a future with him but she seemed to be unnaturally drawn to Kotori. It gave her a thrill to know she shouldn't be with him but it felt so good to be with him. There was an electricity between them that she couldnt ignore. It was just a bad situation.
After Kotori had finished, Flamingstar looked on without a word for a few moments before finally saying anything. Her smile returned and her face relaxed. "Oh, Kotori. Honey, your too kind but you cant honestly think I could be right for you. Its flattering that you think so lovely of me but you wouldn't know what you'll be getting yourself into."
"I really-" He began before she spoke, but wore a tight grin across his lips as she did with a cocky grin, "Oh excuse me? I'm the bad example, who do you think you are Flamingstar?" He said, mischief dancing in his eyes, "I'm the difficult one, I love bugs, hornets, ants, cockroaches and when I'm eating I obnoxiously smack my lips a lot. So maybe it's you who doesn't know what they're getting into, I just don't know if you can really top that," He said sympathetically, a black paw raised over his chin challenging her to come up with something worse.
"Did you ever consider that I might break your heart?" She challenged, raising a brow. It was true. She definitely had feelings for Kotori but the question was, would it last?
"Of course I did, we did plan the whole Shadow Era thing together and then you did allow everyone to blame it all on me resulting in me getting thrown into a river, imprisoned, branded, and beaten. Yet I never uttered your name once to the point that I was going to get executed. You've broken my heart but I still stick around because I love you," Kotori said with a slight frown, "You can't intimidate me from you, you've already tried that, intentional or not."
This time, Flamingstar was truly shocked. She knew Kotori liked her but she didnt expect him to actually love her. No one ever "loved" her. It was a weird feeling. A kind of flutter in her stomach like a million butterflies were flying around inside. She couldnt tell Kotori she loved him back because she wasnt sure if it were true. What would Bleakwind think? It would crush him. Yet, Flamingstar found herself lost in Kotori's exotic green eyes. "Why dont we go for a stroll? Perhaps we could relax in Nightclan's hot springs?"
Flamingstar smiled and led the way to the hot springs. It didnt take long before they were there. Before them, a hole in the ground held warm water. Steam came off the water and into the night sky. Flamingstar was the first to wade into the water, feeling instantly relaxed at the hot water. "Ah, this feels good on my sore muscles" she commented, sinking further into the water until her head was just above it. "So, Kotori. What does bring you here? Besides me being in your head. There has to be a real reason for you to be searching for me."
Kotori seemed ridiculously scared touching the water it was almost laughable. Anyone could tell he was trying to play it cool, but every time his paw touched the water he instinctively lifted it out with disgust. He was definitely the type who hated water. Kotori slowly forced himself to move into the water little by little until it was up his neck. "Oh um," He was already uncomfortable in the water and wasn't really focusing on his word choice, "I wanted to move into NightClan to be with you more." He still hadn't processed what he just said and how easily he released that information during his discomfort.
Flamingstar inhaled at Kotori's request and accidentally inhaled some water and she sat up, coughing. She looked at him with watery eyes. She had not expected him to ask that. Sure, their time together was fun but Kotori moving into Nightclan was just bad juju. "What?" She questioned in a shaky and raspy voice from coughing. Perhaps she hadn't heard him right.
Kotori sat up in alarm watching her cough and stare at him in disbelief as he stepped up, "I'll... I want to live in NightClan," He got out of the water immediately, his eyes avoiding hers, "But I get it, I've overstepped, you don't want me in NightClan. You don't have to tell me no, I can just go okay?" he asked more than said as if looking at her for permission to leave and in the moment he pretty sure he was. He was so afraid of hearing her say no, fearing that she wouldn't want him that he just wanted to go than have his fears be realized. His fur was spiked out out of anxiety, but now out of cold, he hadn't realized how much his temperature had adjusted in the water until he was out in the cold nights air. This was pure torture!
Her eyes widened. "No, no! Dont leave!" Her voice was beginning to recover as she climbed out of the pool to join Kotori, shivering at the sudden chill. "I just....it won't be easy. My clan might not accept you, especially Bleakwind. I will allow you to stay if you truly want to but...are you sure you could tolerate Bleakwind for that long?" What was she doing? This was going to be a disaster!! Yet, she couldnt deny Kotori of a place to stay. She would have to make an announcement for why he was joining Nightclan.
Relief visibly washed over him to see Flamingstar call out for him as he quickly walked back over to the water, "It's so cold," was all he could instinctively mutter watching her shiver along with him before walking back into the pool because there was no way he was going to have them stand around in the cold forest if he was welcome. "I" He let out a cold breath of air as he stepped back into the water, "Definitely. I joined Primal Instinct with dozens of rumors circling around me, with dangerous family members looking at me and wondering if I was someone worth protecting or preying upon. I've done this before, but the difference is that I think you love me back and you don't fear me. I want to be with you, I'm willing to go through whatever it takes. Plus it's not like I hate Bleakwind, I just find him laughable," He smirked at his last comment before turning serious, "But I mean it, I want to be with you, you're the flaming star in my dark, I can't imagine why I'd want to be further away."
She waded back into the water and lowered her ears at Kotori's comment. He was sweet, she will give him that. "I-I like you too, Kotori." She leaned into him, feeling his scent wreath around her, making her heart race.
Kotori was shivering still from the cold up until Flamingstar leaned into him, his composure softened as he relaxed, his shoulders easing down as his tail moved around hers. "Thank-you," He cracked a a grin, "Does this mean you're going to give me a cute warrior name? Don't tell me it's actually Cowface," he laughed lightly as his tail curled in and around Flamingstar's.
"I'm happy with whatever you name you give me, even if it's Cowface, which was a pretty great name, not gonna even lie," Kotori said with a teasing smile, "I can see our future shipping name, Flamingcow. Beautiful, really captures the essence of our loved," He laughed and grinned playfully at her, "You know if I gave you a name it would be... Mm. Fireflyeyes. You just have a fire in your eyes at all times, it makes sense. Or maybe it doesn't, I don't know anything about clan names. There's probably a whole complicated structure to it. Like maybe cats can only be named Skunk if their mom was sprayed by a skunk while pregnant," He laughed a bit nervously at teasing himself. He definitely did not know a lot about clan culture, but he also didn't want Flamingstar to second doubt herself about him joining just because he didn't know a lot about it so he reassuringly mentioned, "but I'll adapt like I always do. That was kind of my whole training back in the Regime was adapting."
"You'll get the hang of it, Cowface" she purred, looking into his eyes with her own magnetic orbs. "You really think I should be renamed Fireflyeyes? I kind of like it! And Flamingcow...well, that's a name you wouldn't hear often." She twitched her whiskers in amusement. "Imagine seeing a cow walking around on fire but the fire doesnt hurt it! It just walks around with flames coming off it's body! If that ever happened, I'm not even sure how I would react to that!"
"Sounds legendary," Kotori grinned, "If we could have a mythical creature it would be a flaming cow and best of all would keep us warm on nights like these and other clans would fear we would release this flaming cow on them," He said with a bit of boyish laughter, "SunClan would freak out and never bother us after that." His expression turned bitter, "Still sucks about the Pride alliance, but maybe it's a ticking time bomb, one of these days SunClan and Primal Instinct will betray DayClan and then they'll come crying back to you."
