Rainfrost was pleased to see Umbrahound up and around. I wonder what Flamingstar wants with him, she mused to herself as she watched the two talking. Probably just wanting to know if he could return to his duties, she figured. But when she saw him getting ready for a trip, her curiosity was really aroused. Surely she wouldn't send him on a trip so soon after leaving the medicine den?
"Hi," she meowed as she approached him. The two hadn't spoken since she was sent to the warriors den after her stay in the medicine den. "Glad to see you're feeling better. My paw's as good as new." She raised it up as she spoke about it then set it back on the ground. "It looks like you're headed out on a trip," she commented. "Would you like some company?"
His ears perked as Rainfrost approached. He was surprised she was talking to him. No one ever talked to him. Perhaps their battle together had built a friendship between them. "Uh, yeah. Flamingstar wants me to go collect more materials for Primal Instinct." He mewed with a frown. "I'm fine to do it, I'm just dreading the work." He joked with a slight twitch of his whiskers. "I would appreciate the company, thank you. You can grab another saddle bag if you want. Or you don't have to since you weren't asked."

"I'd be glad to help," Rainfrost meowed. Her motives were a bit skewed though. She was tired being stuck in camp for so long that even going to collect materials sounded exciting. Besides, she wanted to get to know Umbrahound a little more. All she really knew of him was he's a good fighter. "Wait while I get geared up." She went over to where he had gotten his saddle bag and put one on herself.
"Just what does Flamingstar want collected?" she asked. She knew there's lots of things NightClan had that were scarce in Primal Instinct. "Let's just hope it's not fox teeth!" A smile lit her face as she made a private joke.
Umbrahound was relieved that Rainfrost agreed to help. He wasn't looking forward to collecting materials on his own. He waited for her at the entrance while she geared up. When she returned, her joke made him chuckle. "Thankfully, that wasn't on her list" he joked back. "Though, we have to get some flint rock, vines, and fish scales. We can find all of those things at the river. We will have to go fishing, though. Do you know how to fish?"

"Sure," Rainfrost responded to Umbrahound's question. "It's not my favorite thing to do but I can fish. Vines are easy enough to find but I don't know where to look for flint rock." Although she had seen it in the camp, she didn't know where it was found in NightClan. "So what do you think will get in trade for these things? I hope it's something really good."
"You can find flint rock in the river beds." Umbrahound responded. "And I'm not so sure. Flamingstar wants to make a deal with Dayclan to get their pearls but Dayclan doesn't want anything we have." He frowned, leading the way out of the camp.

"Oh, so she's planning on getting them in a round about way?" she asked. "Give this stuff to Primal Instinct to get them to get the pearls from DayClan? Makes sense." Rainfrost padded beside Umbrahound feeling a bit awkward carrying the travel bag. She didn't like how it felt against her fur but it beat making several trips back and forth carrying the items by mouth. "So what do you want to gather first? I suppose we could look for the stones while we're fishing."
"That's a good idea" he nodded. They arrived at the river and Umbrahound dropped his bag on the shore. "I'm not sure how you fish but I fish in the water."

"I prefer to crouch on the bank and swipe them out," Rainfrost replied. She wasn't too keen on staying for long times in the water. Sure, she had no problem crossing the river to get to the other side but to purposefully stand in the water, unless it was an unbearably hot day, wasn't something she relished. And being it wasn't hot out today, she preferred to do her fishing from the shore.
He shrugged, "Suit yourself!" He waded into the river and stood still. It took a few minutes but eventually a few fish began swimming near his paws. He hooked it with a claw and flung it onto the shore. "First fish!" He purred.

"Nice catch!" Rainfrost meowed. She had been watching from along the bank but no fish had come close to her yet. "How many fish scales do we need to collect anyway?" Just then a dark shape approached close to the river's edge. She poised to strike but stopped. It was a catfish and they had no scales. She lowered her paw and waited again.
"Thanks! And I guess as many as we can bring back. Rainbow trout scales are worth more so if you see one of those, make sure you catch it!" He called to the shore from where he was before looking back into the river for more fish.

"I just let a catfish swim past," Rainfrost meowed. "There's no telling when... wait a minute! I see one coming now!" As the fish came closer, the she cat couched lower with her paw raised to strike. What seemed like an eternity, the fish finally came in closer. Then with a swift strike, Rainfrost scooped the fish up out of the water. She was on it in a flash, biting it's throat effectively stopping it's flopping around on the bank. "Not a rainbow trout but a blue gill. I hope these blue scales are valuable."
"I'm sure they will be! Great catch!" He congratulated. Suddenly, he saw a fly buzz by him. Perfect! He watched as a dark shadow swam toward the fly. Just then, as soon as the fish jumped to bite the fly, Umbrahound caught the fish in midair.

"Wow!" Rainfroast meowed with wide eyes as she watched her clanmate make his catch. She was really impressed by Umbrahound's ingenuity. "That was great! Is it a rainbow trout?" She saw some colors glinting from the fish but she couldn't tell what kind it was from where she stood on the bank.
"I can't really tell" he mumbled through a mouthful of fish, the fish flapping in his jaws. He knew if he continued to hold on for too much longer, it would slip out of his jaws so he tossed it onto the shore. "Will you check for me?"

Rainfrost pounced on the fish before it could flip back into the water then bit it's throat to kill it. Stepping back, she smiled. "It is!" she meowed. "Good work! Flamingstar'll be happy with this for sure, a blue gill and a rainbow trout. I could start harvesting the scales if you like." It was a tedious job but she was willing to do it rather than fishing anymore.
"That's great!" He purred, curling his tail. "And if you want to, that would be a lot of help! I'm going to try to catch one more!" He watched the water carefully. After a few minutes, another shadow swam up to him. He hooked it and threw it onto the shore. He waddled out of the water and killed the fish he had just caught. He, then, began scaling the fish with Rainfrost. "They will be happy back at camp."

"Sure will!" she replied. She had scaled half of her blue gill already and turned it over to start on the other side. Rainfrost hated how the scales stuck to her claws. She'd take one off by scraping a claw from her other paw only to have it get stuck on that one. "At this rate we might be back in time for Leafbare," she grumbled. She found that wiping her claws on the inside of the travel bag was the most effective way of removing scales.
He chuckled. He didn't like the scales either but at least it kept him away from camp. He preferred to be out in the forest than confined to camp. "Oh, I didn't even think to look for Flint. I'm glad you came along! I would have forgotten!" He laughed, pawing himself in the face.
