Rainfrost was stalking a rabbit unaware something else was stalking it too. However the other stalker was aware of both the rabbit and the cat. Unfortunately the gray she cat couldn't detect the scent of the other watcher because of the way the air current was flowing. It didn't matter to the second hunter which prey it caught. It had a hungry stomach not having eaten for two days. Either would do although it knew instinctively the rabbit would put up less of a fight but the cat was much closer.
Then Rainfrost saw her opening. The rabbit turned it's back to her and she could see it's ears was focused on something in front of it. Gathering her haunches in preparation for a spring, a noise to her right made her turn her head. What she saw made her forget all about her rabbit. A fox's cruel eyes were fixed right on her!
The fox hadn't had time to attack. Before anyone could blink, Umbrahound burst from the undergrowth and courageously attacked the fox. He knew this was risky. Of course he was a tall, muscular tom but not a single cat alone could take on a full grown fox. Perhaps if he could make it mad enough, it would come after him instead of Rainfrost. The jet black tom landed on the fox's back and clawed furiously at the the fox's eyes and muzzle and bit down on its ear.

Rainfrost blinked in surprise as she saw Umbrahound leap upon the fox. It had all happened so fast! She was stunned into inactivity for just a few seconds before she realized she should join in the fight too. Running forward, the gray she cat looked for an opening but all she saw was the fox's tail. It's as good as anything, she thought as she bit down hard. The fox yelped in pain and spun around as it tried to get rid of it's 'prey' turned adversary. But Rainfrost held on tight. She hoped Umbrahound was fairing well.
"No! You need to get out of here!" Umbrahound yowled to his clan mate before losing his focus and being thrown into a tree. His back let out a pop on impact and he fought back a yowl of pain. Every inch of him wanted to lay there and wail but he couldn't let Rainfrost fight this creature alone. Rising to his shaky paws, he made his way back over to the fox. He swiped at it but of course he wasn't fast enough and the fox flinched away from his swipe and quickly snapped at Umbrahound, catching his paw in it's snapping jaws. "Mouse dung!" He cursed as teeth punctured his paw. He would definitely be confined to the medicine den after this.

"No! I can't leave you fight this thing alone!" Rainfrost could be called ambitious and selfish but never disloyal. Although when they would tell others about this event, she might embellish the facts to make herself look better than she really was ... that is if they get out of this alive. The gray she cat lunged forward but this time bit down hard on the fox's hind leg. "LET GO OF HIM!" she hissed. The fox released Umbrahound and spun around quickly to confront his other attacker. By doing so, he flung Rainfrost off his leg but received three or four deep gashes in it from her teeth ripping across it. The fox yelped loudly in pain then crouched low, watching the two cats. When Rainfrost was tossed, she fortunately landed on her feet but her momentum caused her to tumble over several times before finally stopping.
Despite his pain, Umbrahound had a renewed anger from his clan mate being tossed and possibly injured. Umbrahound lashed out furiously at the Fox's face, slashing at it's muzzle and eyes with one paw after another. "That's what you get for lowering your head, you dumb flea bag! And this is what you get for messing with Nightclan!" He landed a good blow to one of the fox's eyes, blinding it in that particular eye.

The fox yelped loudly in pain and spun around in an attempt to find an avenue of escape. He had enough of these cats! His eye pained him terribly and he couldn't see out of it. Fine mess this turned out to be! His hunt was ruined and his eye damaged because of them and now all he wanted was his den to crawl up inside and recover. He spotted his way out and took off running leaving a trail of blood in his wake.
"It's getting away!" Rainfrost cried as she began to run after it. But then she saw the folly of her plan and stopped only after taking a few steps. "Good! Go on! Get outta here and never come back!" she spat in the direction from where the sounds of yelping were fading away. "That'll teach you about battling with warriors!"
She turned to face Umbrahound and limped over to his side. "Thanks," she meowed. "Are you hurt bad?" The smell of blood was all around and it was hard to tell how much was cat blood and how much was fox.
He watched with amusement as Rainfrost ran after the fox but decided against it and yelled at it instead. "Ah, I think I'll be okay" he responded to his question but as he took another step, he felt another pop in his back and let out a small Yelp of pain. "Er...maybe I'll make sure I go see the medicine cat." He winced, his voice strained.

"Here, you can lean on me on the way back to camp," the gray she cat meowed. "I think you got the worst of it. The only thing hurting me is one of my hind paws. Must have twisted it when the fox threw me." It hurt her but not too much. At least she could walk on it but with a limp.
Umbrahound was unsure of leaning against his clan mate for support. He was suppose to be a strong and fearless warrior. Taking help made him feel weak. However, he knew he would need to lean on Rainfrost in order to get back to camp. Reluctantly, he leaned against her. "Thanks. I'm sure it's nothing. Probably a pulled muscle or something...how is your paw? Is it okay to support me?"

She had positioned herself so her hurt foot was away from Umbrahound. "As long as you lean on this side," the gray she cat replied. "We can help each other back to camp. I'm glad you happened to be near by when that fox attacked." She didn't say it but she realized the outcome of the battle would have turned out much differently if he hadn't come to her help. The thought irked her though. Being large for a she cat, she had become self reliant and in her mind practically invincible. She didn't like seeing this shattered image of herself.
"Thanks" he grunted, leaning against her. "And your welcome. I couldn't just stand by and watch a clan mate be mulled by a fox but...why didnt you just run away?"

(lol!)
"Same reason," Rainfrost replied. "You came to help me. There's no way I could turn tail and leave you then to fight that fox by yourself." Besides, being exceptionally large for a she cat, she loved showing off her battling skills. And this was an opportunity to do just that. In fact she liked to think she was the strongest of all the she cats in NightClan.

She turned her head slightly toward Umbrahound as they were walking and supporting each other. "Now what makes you say that?" she asked, truly puzzled by what he meant. She never thought of him as being mouse brained.

"But if you had hesitated I might be badly injured right now," Rainfrost meowed then mentally adding or worse. She didn't like to even think that let alone admit that she needed help. For so long she prided herself as being self sufficient. Today was an eye opener for the large she cat. "That fox was more than any one cat to handle alone."
He purred before his purr was interrupted by a wince of pain. "Thanks." It wasn't long before they arrived at the camp and both made their way to the medicine den.
(Do you want me to tag one of the medicine cats? Or we can time skip?)

(Let's time skip if that's alright.)
Rainfrost stretched as she exited the warriors den. It had been two weeks since that episode with the fox and now her sprained paw seemed to be back to normal except for an occasional twinge of pain if she overexerted it. The time she had to spend at first in the medicine den and then in her own nest in the warriors den was well worth it. But now she was anxious to get back to doing things like hunting and patrolling the borders. She wondered how well Umbrahound was fairing. If it wasn't for him she might not even be here.
Umbrahound had stayed in the medicine den for the entire two weeks. He had a slipped disc and the medicine cats had to put it back in place and massaging the tightening muscles. He had finally healed but it was likely the injury will cause him more issues when he is an elder. As for now, he was relieved of the medicine den and allowed to go back to his duties. When Rainfrost exited the warrior's den, Umbrahound was speaking to Flamingstar. The ginger leader's expression was unreadable but Umbrahound's looked as if he were dreading something. The conversation quickly ended and Flamingstar turned away. Umbrahound grabbed a saddle bag made from the Renegade Regime and threw it over his back, tightening the straps.
