Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
pLuto Lilacpaw skimmed near the MoonClan border, her paws just barely gliding by without touching the border. All it would take was a stray wind or one bristle of her fur and she'd be over their line. She stopped short of touching into MoonClan's territory and sighed out. Sure she was itching for a fight to have some control in her life, but it wasn't worth it to mess with MoonClan. They had never done anything wrong to DayClan in their history, it would be wrong to tease them more than she already had by leaving her scent trail this close. Lilacpaw moved a fox length back from the border and sat down looking out at the other side. Lately with all the supernatural activity it had made her uneasy about her future and especially the way her clanmates treated her. What if she became a warrior and she had made so many bad mistakes that they made her a prisoner class?
Suddenly Lilacpaw's eyes latched onto something in the distance, but as she peered in closer and crept up to the border she could tell it was someone, "Were you spying on me?" The ginger and white tabby she-cat asked before even seeing who it was looking at her.
Snowpaw paused for a moment before letting out a slight chuckle. "Is it really considered spying if you know I'm here?" he asked as he presented more of himself to her. It wasn't often they had a lone visitor near their border, so this was an odd encounter, and an apprentice at that. Positioning himself in front of the newcomer, he sat down equidistant from her. From what it smelled like, she wasn't from Night or Sun, so she must have been from Day. Strange...
"So, what brings you here, stranger?" he questioned with a raised eyebrow. He wasn't the one for violence so he resorted to understanding the situation. But, if she came with ill intent, he wouldn't mind letting loose a bit. Out on a mission from one of the Bishops, he was ordered to observe the borders. He wasn't expecting anyone from Day. This may be an interesting encounter yet.
Lilacpaw pouted, "Feel misunderstood, teenage angst, hate my family. The usual apprentice shenanigans. How about you, I thought most clans don't let apprentices off a leash to patrol borders?"
Lilacpaw tried to pin point the toms age by looking at him, would she fair well if she had to fight him? Her tail lowered, there was hardly a reason to even think about it. MoonClan and DayClan never fought, they were both wise enough to stay peaceful unlike SunClan and NightClan. The only time DayClan was an enemy to MoonClan was because SunClan had taken over MoonClan and gifted them to DayClan without their permission. Still she was itching for some activity to get out all of her pent up anger.
Snowpaw tilted his head from side to side in understanding. "That's fair, that's fair. I'm only here because I was told to by one of my superiors," he answered with a slight shrug, not wanting to share any more details than he should. "Besides its a great opportunity to get away from the usual clan stuffs." He looked her over. She seemed harmless enough. Figuring from the task he was given that he wasn't allowed to invite her over the border. There wasn't much going on either way. He glanced back behind him to see if anyone would be coming but no one was in sight before continuing on. Something about her response didn't sit well with him though. He may have been overthinking it. If she was just trying to get away, she could have went anywhere else on DayClan territory if she wanted. Hmm...what is the real reason she came to the border.
"Yeah I guess, but don't you hate that? Being told around and worse of all, corrected constantly. I hate it, I hate being told to be nicer when people are literally below me in status not behaving. I love DayClan though, I just don't feel appreciated. You ever feel that way or is that just kind of me?" Lilacpaw asked.
Everything felt harder when her mom was essentially deputy of DayClan. She wasn't nice like Buttercuppaw or chosen like Zinniapaw. She personally hated outsider, but this apprentice was on his side of the border so whatever, he was on his side doing his thing. It was her fault for coming out this far, if she didn't want to see an outsider she shouldn't have traveled this far inward. She rubbed a paw down her face a bit tired, but the smile along her lips was full of life and merciful, "I'm Lilacpaw by the way."
Snowpaw brought a paw up to his chin, looking up thoughtfully. Even as a kit, he wasn't as rambunctious or troublesome as his older siblings. Him being occupied with other things kept him sane in a sense. Busywork didnt bother him at all. But he could see what she meant. "I mean," he started to say as his paw dropped back in front of him, "I get where you're coming from but I cant say I'm share the same feelings as you toward my people though." He adjusted his paws slightly, getting into a more comfortable position. "I'm Snowpaw," he responded politely. "Nice to make your acquaintance." He didnt know what it was but something about the she-cat's smile put him more on edge.
"Hey this is going to sound strange, um... Do you want to practice fighting together. Like, really fighting with our claws, but respect the other if they bail out or knock out. No kills. I've been dying to experience a real fight and we're from different clans so technically we can fight each other with a bit more enthusiasm than we could with our own clanmates. It would serve us both well to practice combat," Lilacpaw suggested and immediately added, "SunClan's a threat to both of our clans so we're kind of on the same side to help each other out with a bit of fighting practice, right?"
He stared at her. "If we were to use claws, there's no way we could avoid inflicting damage to one another." Not that he was afraid of a few scratches. What worried him most was what upper management would think. After all, he was only here to observe. But there was chance that someone on either side could see them and intervene or see that as an act of aggression. He shrugged off the hypotheticals. "But, I dont see why not." Lilacpaw did bring up a fair point though. At any point, they could be attacked by the cult that was SunClan so it would be best to prepare.
"Okay um. I give you permission to step onto DayClan property then so that we can have a fair and clean battle. When I yell goal we can start, but if any of us say stop the other must yield, does that sound like a deal?" Lilacpaw asked. Even though she technically never had to give Snowpaw permission to come onto DayClan territory. DayClan was neutral territory, so long as no cats caused trouble or hunted they allowed anyone onto their lands, free to explore and even indulge themselves on apples in the orchards.
"Mmm...alright," he said as he rose to his paws. He stretched his back legs, then his front, preparing himself for what was to come. Although he was told he was a young prodigy when it came to combat, he didn't want to underestimate his opponent. Once his stretches were done, he started off across the border. Stepping across it, he felt he was doing something wrong, but since he was granted permission, it didnt matter. Standing in front of her, he asked, "So are we going to train here or was there a better location?"
"Here's good unless you got a problem with it," Lilacpaw said circling the ground as her tail whipped back in a drawn position, her razor sharp eyes focused on him, "Just say ready," She purred as her claws unsheathed.
He smirked. "Of course, of course." From the looks of it, she had some sort of formal training, but he wasnt afraid. It only made it more exciting for him to engage in a mock battle. Despite that though, she wanted full contact, even a training match? And odd request but one hes willing to fulfill. He faced her and locked eyes with her, getting into a offensive stance. "Ready."
At Snowpaw's words Lilacpaw's tail lashed to the side before she sped into him, hard and rough, her goal being to throw him off his paws right off the bat. She hit him like a tidal wave, her entire orange tabby body nailing him to the ground, but so far her claws hadn't landed a strike. Once she had him on the ground she lifted her paw up to strike his shoulder, her goal being to hopefully pin him down and strike until he yields. First part was done, but successfully striking him had yet to happen.
He was caught off guard, her speed surprising him and knocking the wind from his lungs. He surely underestimated her. Snowpaw's smug smirk vanished as he got serious with her. Something flashed and he looked up to see her raise a paw preparing to strike down on his shoulder. Thinking back to the Cinderwraith's combat training, he quickly thought of his next move. Should I swipe at her grounded leg, knocking her off balance? Or should I recover and get spacing? Being on the ground puts me at a disadvantage though... Choosing the latter, he rolled over and got back onto his paws. He quickly backpedaled a tail length away from her. Taking this as a chance to counterattack, he unsheathed his claws and closed the distance, raising a paw to strike her face, if not, at least her shoulder.
Lilacpaw grinned, she could see the flash of surprise he had at her speed, but when he tried to get up she quickly attempted to stomp her paw to push the apprentice back down, but it was too late, he was already up. She quickly turned to face him, but was hit hard across the face, his claws burned into the skin, with a succession of burning, stinging misery. "OW," She cried out, but this was why she wanted to fight with her claws with someone who would give her an honorable fight. She had never really been knocked around before, she wanted to make sure she knew how to take a hit. "That was pretty good," Lilacpaw said before faking to lunge him at his left, but instead moved to his right, this time slamming into his side with her claws drilling into his ribs to give him some damage. Once more she was trying to knock him off his paws. Her legs swung for his legs, trying to further knock him off balance, get him to the ground and dominate from there.
Her exclamation of pain brought a smile to his face but it was short lived as she was on the attack again. Following her with his eyes instead of his instincts, her fake out caught him slipping up. The right side of his ribs stung from her claws raking his ribs. He winced from the pain. It felt warmer than usual on that side and saw that his white fur was stained with blood. Before he could make a comment, his paws were out from beneath him and he was back on the ground.
Like a hurricane Lilacpaw whipped into him with brutal force, rolling him over flashes of white and red blurring together as in one swift motion she and placed one paw on his chest and the other over his shoulder while her back legs held his body in place. She panted hard, but her green eyes were electric staring down at him with ferocity few warriors had. She was fast, but it was clear her endurance was low making it hard for her to fight long. She moved her sheathed paw from his chest over his throat, sending light tingles from her soft movements down his chest and over his throat. She looked down at him with amusement before licking his cheek playfully, "You wanna keep going or are you satisfied?" The electricity in her eyes never faltered as she stared into the toms eyes.
A chuckle escaped from him throat as he looked up at Lilacpaw panting hard. From the position he was in, he wouldnt be able to recover. He lost, she won. It was definitely a humbling and learning experience. "I yield," he admitted with a smile."It was a good fight. It was much mistake to not expect you to be a capable fighter, but it was fun."
"It was wasn't?" Lilacpaw said and with a gentle sigh escaping her lips she rolled off of him and lied on her back, tired, "You were a really good fighter, in fact you're the first MoonClan cat I've ever met. You know SunClan says a lot of sucky things about your clan," She teased. SunClan was DayClan's allies, but it was no secret that the two were always on thin ice with one another. One time before Lilacpaw was born she remembered hearing stories of how SunClan had given MoonClan's conquered land over to DayClan as a gift. DayClan had been furious that they would treat MoonClan so inhumanely, but were so desperate during leafbare that they accepted the gift and spent all of greenleaf repaying MoonClan for all the prey they took from them. Other than that one story she hadn't heard much about MoonClan.
Lilacpaw lifted her leg when she felt something warm and realized it was Snowpaw's blood. When she was pinning him down her legs had gripped onto his sides where she had scratched open his skin along his ribs. Lilacpaw immediately sat up looking at Snowpaw with concern, "I'm so sorry," She exclaimed, it was such an obvious wound, she would feel bad if he left now and his clanmates drilled him questions on how he got it, "Here, can I help clean it up for you?"
Snowpaw sighed and rolled onto his back, looking up at the treeline. He heard the stories of the conflict between SunClan and MoonClan. But they were just stories to him. Some of his older clanmates held a genuine resentment toward them but he didnt see why he had to hold those same feelings. He did think that first impressions were everything and his first encounter with a SunClan was a good one, despite the loss he recieved. "Yeah, I hear the same thing. My clanmates absolutely despise yours." He glanced over to Lilacpaw. From what he overheard, SunClan was under new leadership. "But I don't see why we can't be friends. We shouldn't let the actions of our past control the future." He laughed at himself; he sounded like an idealist. He knew something like that couldnt or wouldnt happen overnight but he could hope
He looked down at his wound then back to her. He had completely forgotten about the wound. He shrugged it off and shook it his head. "Ehhh, that's okay. It doesnt bother me too much right now. I can clean it up myself before I head back to camp." Being the youngest of the litter, he grew up to do things himself so caring for his own wounds were nothing new to him. "But thank you for the offer though," he meowed with a smile.
