There, he was laughing again, that was a good sign. Pleased that he had fixed the situation, his expression softened and he nearly smiled. “He must dry out fast, though. Never has to worry about sleeping in a damp nest. Could be useful.”

Fuzzypeach shook his head, chuckling, "just lay 'em out in the sun for a bit, eh? Nice and warm." He wished he could tell these jokes to old Baldy, but his temper had always been short. Probably because he looked like a chunk of prey twolegs called chickens. Poor fella.

"Oh I imagine you'll have enough fur to build a nest for every cat in SwiftClan," the orange tom replied goodnaturedly, "still, I could prove all this is just fluff." Not the mice and fish he inhaled near-constantly.
"Even better. My clan needs some soft material in their nests." Chim was actually grinning now, and the harsh lines of his face eased. "That much fur would make you a hero for all the clans."

Fuzzypeach laughed again, so hard he actually had to stop and catch his breath, "being a hero is worth takin' after Baldy, alrigh'." That made him laugh again, he truly cracked himself up.
Chim startled himself by laughing as well. He took a moment to catch his breath and get a hold on himself again. "Come on, let's get back to fishing. We need to bring back some prey before they skin us both."

Fuzzypeach nodded, clearing his throat and shaking his shoulders to get very ~*serious*~ before peering into the water in front of him. He went still and watched the water with an intensity he'd never before displayed. A fish was at the bottom of the water, he could see the occasional flash of it's scales in the light, so Fuzzypeach crouched and wiggled his flank as though he were planning to launch himself into the water.
The ginger tom settled on the bank beside him, peering closely into the water. The current was slow enough to see well and promised more prey to come. He watched the progress of one fish down the river toward them until he was distracted by the wiggling beside him. What is he doing? Chim shifted to watch him instead.

When he could just make out the form of a fish he did launch himself forward, the front half of his body slammed into the water and he pushed his head under, just managing to catch the fish. He thrashed a bit to regain balance and pulled himself from the water, slapping the fish on the ground before killing it quickly. Easy peasy.
As his companion dove into the water, the leader watched closely. Fuzzypeach looked like he was going to drown under there with his inelegant technique, so he plunged into the water beside him and prepared to catch the prey or save the warrior's life, but to his surprise no assistance was necessary.
"... You caught it," he said, intending a compliment, though his voice was flat and empty. He stood in the water with the waves dragging at his ginger pelt and heaved himself back onto shore.

Fuzzypeach noted the tone with surprise, turning to look at his leader and cock his head curiously, "are ya surprised? Why are ya in the water? Fall in?"
".... Something like that," he answered flatly, deciding it was better not to admit his lack of faith. He sat down and began to groom himself carefully, grateful his fur was slick enough to stop some of the water from penetrating it. "I've never seen a cat fish like that."

Fuzzypeach scoffed, placing a paw proudly on the fish, "course ya hadn't! That's the ole Fuzzypeach technique! Now get outta there, ya look a bit foolish." His tone was brisk, as though Chim should know better than to fall into the water.
"The Fuzzypeach technique? What, nobody taught you how to do that, you just figured it out yourself?" A healthy dose of skepticism in his voice, the tom retreated from the edge of the water and sat down on the dry land away from the splashing waves.

"Well," Fuzzypeach meowed, sounding quite offended, "a cat o' yours tried to show me this uptight way'a sittin' by the water and not lettin' my shadow be over the water and blah blah," he flicked his tail dismissively, shooting Chim a disapproving look as though he personally invented fishing. "Back in my day we just leapt right on in, none of this waitin' and listen'. Nah, you got ta put in an honest days work, ya know? So I thought ta myself, what's a way to get tha job done but get these other cats movin'? So the Fuzzypeach Technique was born."
"So you invented your own way to fish," he echoed, disbelieving. Chim had heard of other cats fishing in strange ways, but he had rarely seen them be successful, and usually, it was just inept luck that let them catch any prey. He wasn't convinced Fuzzypeach's technique was any more competent. "And you thinking jumping into the water is a good idea, especially once the snow falls?"
