LITTLESTAR
SUNCLAN HIGH PRIESTESS
Littlestar closed her eyes enjoying the warm rays of the sun while they lasted. Today was the shortest day of the year, when the Sun God was at his weakest. Even when he had appeared to her that morning during the prayers, he seemed faded and tired. A ember of the blazing fire that he usually was. At least they still had a few hours of daylight before the the sun would set, and the hunting patrol would need to be sent out. Hearing a stirring in her den, she turned just in time to see her little ones emerging from their den, wrestling and rough housing "All right, how about you all go to the nursery and find some other kits to play with" she chuckled as they went tumbling down the ascending path towards the nursery. They would be apprentices soon enough, and their play was getting a little to rough for her den or the nursery.
Her golden gaze followed the kits as the tumbled down the path, when suddenly she couldn't see anything but darkness. She blinked trying to figure our what had happened, before a blazing circle in the sky caught her eye. It was an eclipse. The moon had blocked out the sun! It was already the shortest day of the year, and it had now just become much shorter.
[This is part one of the Winter Solstice plot. Please respond her with your characters reaction to the eclipse, but also feel free to start your own threads with your characters panicking]
Hottie looked away from the sky, "No one look, it'll hurt your eyes," She warned.
Autumngossamer didn't really understand why it would hurt a cats eyes, but Hottie knew what she was talking about... As always so she decided to go along with it and add on louder as if that might make her sound like she knew what she was talking about more than Hottie, "Yeah, everyone, look away!"
Autumngossamer tried her best to scrape her mind for any knowledge about an eclipse. Why hadn't she paid attention to past soothsayers? She was always dreaming about Lovesmitten, dreaming about controlling other cats, bossing everyone around. Why couldn't she have listened up when they were talking about things. Her brown eyes moved to meet Hottie's turquoise gaze, this cat was constantly outdoing her in every single way. The only way to get above her was to out do her, but how was she going to do that when Hottie could heal, see ghosts, read prophecies, she had so much more experience! Her gaze dropped for just a moment before lifting, a smirk on her lips before covering it up with a grim expression as she moved over to Littlestar, "Littlestar, this is a bad omen, bad times are ahead because," She once again searched her mind to think of something, before her gaze caught in MoonClan's direction, "Of MoonClan, we need to avoid them. This is our weakest and you know how the moon can be, they'll take advantage of our weakness if we're not careful."
She glanced back at Hottie, was she impressed that she out did her? Hottie seemed to only stare right through her, like without even being there she knew what she had done. Lied. But she couldn't know that so Autumngossamer continued to look back at Littlestar. Then again... Maybe Hottie did know.

LITTLESTAR
SUNCLAN HIGH PRIESTESS
Cries of fear and surprised rose up from around camp as the sun disappeared. Littlestar could feel her own heart beating fasted in her chest, as Hottie and Autumngossamer's warning reached her. It wasn't the first time she had seen an eclipse, for they had been quite common in WinterClan when she was a mere kit. After listening to both of them her own voice rang out over the clan "Everyone keep your eyes on the ground and return to your den without looking up to the sky. There is no need to panic, this shall pass. It is an eclipse, we will stay inside until the sun returns so that your eyes are not damage" after giving her instructions to turned to both Hottie and Autumngossamer "Both of you join me in my den. I will be there as soon as I round up my children"
Swelteringeclipse had just entered the clearing as the sun vanished, a mouse and a small bird held firmly in her jaws which she quickly placed onto the fresh kill pile before trotting to Littlestar. "Littlestar, what about those out on patrol? Will they be safe?" There was crackling worry in her voice as she tried to swallow the panic that was bubbling within her.
"The border patrol should be back soon," Bloodyrondo replied before Littlestar had a chance, dropping the vole he had caught while on the very same hunting patrol as Swelteringeclipse in the fresh-kill pile, "If they take too long, I will personally go find them. For now we should do as Littlestar says and go to our dens to wait this out."
He padded over to Littlestar's right side, his celadon green eyes not looking at anyone in particular, clearly not planning to go to his own den. This was his second winter solstice but his first eclipse. He had not heard Autumngossamer's interpretation, but he was certainly suspicious of MoonClan, after all, they would celebrate this event. A moon or so ago Bloodyrondo would have been quick to suggest their next move; after his training with Littelstar, though, he hesitated to form an opinion without more information. How very mature of him.

LITTLESTAR
SUNCLAN HIGH PRIESTESS
Littlestar nosed the last of her kits into the nursery with sunset before turning to add her own response to Swelteringeclipse "It is as he says. The last patrol was due to return at any moment, are most likely within the tunnels as we speak. Sending out cats to search for them at this point, would only put more warriors at risk. If your not to tired after your hunt, wait for them inside the tunnels entrance and tell them to remain inside. The darkness of the tunnels should protect their eyes from the eclipse. Once it has passed, we will send someone inside to fetch all of you and bring you back to camp. There were several experienced warriors on that patrol, all of which should know better than to look directly at the eclipse and be able to guide any that don't back into the tunnels or find shelter"
She then turned to Bloodyrondo, Hottie, and Autumngossamer, "Now lets retire to my den and you can explain more about your omen" whilst she wanted to believe the words that her Soothsayer was speaking, there was something in her voice that was off. She couldn't quiet place it just yet, but she wanted to hear more about what the Soothsayer had to say. "Hottie, since you have experience treating cats that have gazed at eclipses, I would like for you to join us to help come up with a treatment plan for those that have ignored your advice"
Divinekit was outside the nursery by herself. No one in particular raised the spotted orphan. She liked to think she looked out for herself. She was old enough and big enough to get her own food from the pile and choose her own bed times. Divinekit didnt listen to anyone, either. No one told her what to do.
She had been outside playing with a leaf when the eclipse began. Her ears perked in surprise when she suddenly had to squint to see where her leaf went. Her green speckled amber eyes turned toward the sky as her leader shouted the warning. There was no way she was going to go into the nursery. She was almost an apprentice and could do whatever she wanted. She kept staring up at the hidden sun curiously. She had never seen anything like that before. Where did the sun even go?
Driftingkit crouched inside the nursery, his eyes widening in fear. He backed into a corner, out of sight. What was going to happen to them? Would the sun be gone forever? Littlestar said it would pass but what if she was wrong this time? This was Driftingkit's first eclipse as well and it was quite scary.
Swelteringeclipse nodded to Littlestar, she knew the warriors would be back soon but she was still worried. "I'll go wait in the tunnels, just in case." As she closed her mouth, she turned and made her way to the tunnels, vanishing into the darkness within.
Doctoredkit was sitting just inside the nursery when he overheard the commotion from the clearing, his interest peaked, the young tom stood and poked his head out of the nursery. "What's going on Divinekit?" He asked as he stepped further out so he was beside her, like his mother he very closely resembled a fox due to his pelt colors and pattern.
Divinekit gave a sideways glance at Doctoredkit before returning her attention to the eclipse. "The sun is hiding" she responded, her expression curious. "Why do you think it's doing that? Is it playing hide and seek?" All these questioned swarmed her brain.
Doctoredkit was wondering the same thing, everyone seemed to be in a state of worry around camp. "I don't know, do you think it has something to do with every ones behavior?" His pale green eyes remained on their clanmates as they all began to move around and retreat to the dens, to occupied with them to look up at the covered sun.
The fox like tom huffed and jerked his head to face Divinekit. "No, I'm not scared. Just curious." He wanted to know more about what was happening, but who would be willing to tell him? His eyes scanned the clearing for a warrior or even an apprentice who would know. "Let's go find someone who can tell us about it!"

Nocturnesymphony wanted to look back at the eclipse so badly, just to see what it was all about. He could live without it, especially when he got to watch his clanmates panic and cry. They were suffocating, but it felt like a breath of fresh air to the cream tom. He felt so alive in the darkness. There was a sadistic part in him that wanted nothing more than to start a stir, rile everyone up further. But he held back, knowing full well he needed to play nice for now. "Alright, inside everyone." Of course, he was the only Janus here, he could only herd everyone into their dens.
"That sounds excellent Littlestar, my medical treatment is more of a philosophy I like to call, natural selection," Hottie said following after Littlestar.
UGH, even her medical treatments sound amazing. A philosophy that can cure the wounds of an eclipse, she doesn't even touch them amazing. Although what did natural selection mean?
Autumngossamer's claw rapped against the floor of Littlestar's den trying to think of something important to say, but was heart broken when nothing came to mind and instead decided to wait for Littlestar to say something.
Duskslayer's ears flattened seeing the sun had vanished completely, but quickly averted his eyes the moment Autumngossamer mentioned it, although he regretted not listening to Hottie. He didn't want to listen to initiate, but he also forgot that she was a past medicine cat, she probably knew a bit more than the average initiate. Duskslayer walked over to Doctoredkit and Divinekit before nosing them forward, "C'mon, let's get you back in the nursery."
Divinekit pinned her ears back. "Why is everyone so afraid of the sun hiding?" She hissed, pushing passed Duskslayer. She cast her gaze back up toward the sky and just at that moment, the moon moved ever so slightly, revealing a small sliver of the sun. A bright ray of light hit Divinekit's eyes and she could feel it burn. She howled in pain as she shut her eyes and rubbed them with her paw. She blinked open her eyes once more and couldn't see anything. Panic rose inside her. "I can't see!" She cried.
Bloodyrondo was a little annoyed that Littlestar allowed an initiate like Hottie into a private meeting with the most important cats in SunClan, but there was nothing to do about it now. He sat down next to Autumngossamer, prim and proper, the picture of SunClan confidence, and said,"You should let our Soothsayer speak, Hottie. We can discuss treatment options once we have better idea of what this omen means."
---
Discordantkit rubbed up against Nocturnesymphony's leg, having recognized and followed his voice when he had started giving direction. Of course, she had gazed directly at the eclipse for some time and was half blinded. She could still see shapes and colors but there were big black voids in her vision that followed her regardless of the direction she looked. Yet, the calico she-kit was the picture of calmness, in fact she was purring as she nuzzled her half-brother. Listening to her denmate's wail in terror was very satisfying for her. There was just something about being in control of one's own emotions when everyone else was not that brought her pleasure,"This is pretty cool, but when will the black spots go away?"
Hottie gave a double look at Bloodyrondo for his comment before remembering, he was a tom, they only had so much brain power.
"Yes Hottie, let me talk, I'm the one that can communicate with the Sun God," Autumngossamer said matter of factly.
"Can you?" Hottie asked.
Autumngossamer's cheeks burned, "Yes," She said quickly with a little too much determination. She had never talked to the Sun God. Ever. He never seemed interested in her, maybe because he knew she hadn't been paying attention at all during her Janus training. At least someone appreciated her! It was good to know Bloodyrondo had her back, but it was clear she just had to prove herself more to Littlestar. Heck, she had to make up an omen in a desperate act to make Littlestar believe she was more important than Hottie. Why the heck was her competition a cat who literally named herself Hottie!?
"He told me that we gotta watch out for MoonClan. In the form of an omen which was that eclipse. That's a reminder that the moon will totally backstab us if they get the chance," Autumngossamer explained before shooting Hottie a cold distant look, "Don't you have that philosophy to attend to, natural selection was it?"
Hottie looked back at Divinekit and then at Autumngossamer, "It looks like it's already doing its job just fine without me. Although when I look at you each morning, sometimes I wonder if it's broken."
"Yes, yes, I have yet to get any treatment from you, sounds like you're not doing a very good job at it," Autumngossamer nodded along having no idea what natural selection was.
"I could speed up the process for you if that's what you're asking," Hottie offered leisurely, her turquoise and sapphire eyes looked at Autumn with a bored expression despite literally offering to murder her.
Duskslayer looked at Divinekit and felt the prickle of anxiety hit him. Hottie and Autumngossamer said NOT to look, what if this was permanent? Although why would it be permanent, they looked up at the sun and moon before just fine, "Maybe it's just really bad and it'll take a few hours or even days. But I bet it'll come back. It's just like getting a bad wound except on your eye. I bet it'll heal in no time, but we should probably get it checked out by Littlestar soon."
Divinekit wanted to cry but she kept strong and nodded to Duskslayer. He was right. It was probably just a temporary thing. She felt her way to the nursery with her eyes shut, bumping into the entrance wall before finding the way in. She curled up in her nest and whimpered. What if it was permanent? She could never be a warrior if she was blind. She should have listened to Littlestar and Duskslayer.

LITTLESTAR
SUNCLAN HIGH PRIESTESS
A little sigh escaped Littlestar's lips at the cats before her fought amoungst themselves, but the final straw was threatening to murder another... even if Autumngossamer didn't quiet understand the rather round about way Hottie had stated it. "ENOUGH" he voiced echoed through the den, as her golden gaze went from one cat to the next giving each a stern glare in turn
"I will not have you scwabling like children. The Winter Solstice is a day of mourning and self reflection. If you continue to act like kits than I shall treat you like one and send you to your nests for the rest of the night" she narrowed her eyes on each of them, a low growl rumbling in her throat "I invited each of you here, because you all have a unique skill to help SunClan get through this situation."
"Autumngossamer, we shall head your warning. When the eclipses passes, we shall send our Janus to the border in groups of two to keep an eye on MoonClan's activities. In addition, the hunting patrols that we send out after sunset will be ordered to stay away from that border so that no one will be caught unaware. If MoonClan wishes to try something, they will not catch us unaware" the tip of Littlestar's tail switched as if she was debating, but then she moved on "Once it is safe to do so, you should do a bone reading to find out more about the threat we are facing"
"Hottie, I will not allow my clan to go blind to suit your amusement. I am their High Priestess, their leader and healer. We both know you have the skills needed to treat this, and I can provide the herbs you need from our gardens. Your natural selection may have been the normal in WinterClan, but in SunClan we take care of our own" WinterClan was a harsh place, that much she remembered. It was all about survival, and personal strength, as well as your connections. The term 'natural selection' was a nice way of saying the strong would survive while the weak would die.
Next she turned to Bloodyrondo " You may not like that I have invited an initiate here, but she has even more experience with this than I. Hottie was dealing with eclipsed before I had even moved out of the nursery. You may be the Priest Promised, but that doesn't mean that you know all there is to know. A wise leader understands that there are times that you must swallow your pride, and look to others for answers. I could have experimented and perhaps came up with a solution, but how many of our clan-mates might go blind in that time?" she rarely chastised her promised, but he needed an arrogance check "I can hear Divinekit screaming from here, go check on her and reassure the young kit that we will come and check on her soon. Afterwards visit each of the den in search of those that might be suffering from the effects of the eclipse. Once we know who has been effected, it will be easier to treat them effectively"
"If Hottie is such the expert, why not send her to check up on the eclipsed?" Bloodyrondo replied, getting to his feet with a lash of his tail. He had grown since his promotion to Priest Promised and was now the largest cat in the room.* The tom had fire in his eyes but his ears were pinned back as he was still processing the lecture he had received from Littlestar. Rarely had he ever be chastised by the leader much less with an audience, so he was embarrassed and a little defensive, and made his statement before he really thought about it. It seemed Hottie was a touchy topic for Littlestar and he had a mental note to tread more carefully in the future, but he still stood by his initial reaction.
He let his statement hang in the air for a few moments before sighing and exiting the den to do as directed. Bloodyrondo had no idea how to help a cat who starred at an eclipse, but he did know the poppy seeds were pretty harmless would at least ease nerves and at best put a cat to sleep, so he grabbed a small bundle of them and headed in the direction of Divinekit's wailing. The Priest Promised was in a foul mood but genuinely did like kits and was starting to calm down when he saw Nocturnesyphony and Discordantkit near the entrance to the nursery. He had to bite his tongue when he trotted past, although he still shot his brother a dirty look.
In the nursery now, he sat down his bundle and nosed Divinekit out, "Hey, you okay, little one? I came to check on you."
--- * he's a normal sized tom and, assuming they are normal sized she-cats, then he would be a little bigger, please correct me if I'm wrong
