Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Flamingsoul had run away from Primal Instinct and was now living with Nightclan. However, Flamingsoul tended to venture wherever she felt like going. The ginger she-cat padded through the forest, coming close to the Renegade Regime territory. The storm that had come by and wiped out the survival clans left the forest littered with debris and the ground was soft. She was slipping through the forest when, suddenly, the ground gave out from under her and she found herself in one of the many tunnels that spread throughout the territories. She tried to escape the way she came but each time she tried to pull herself out, the ground would give out and crumble. "Fox-dung!" She spat in frustration looking down the tunnel in both directions. She wasn't sure which way would take her out. There was a large maze of tunnels beneath the territories and the Regime usually travelled in them.
Letting out a frustrated puff of air, Flamingsoul chose a direction to start walking. The shadows swallowed her up as she left the hole where she fell in. It was cold in the tunnels and she felt very closterphobic as she made her way deeper into the tunnel. She couldnt see anything and was using her whiskers to direct her so that she wouldnt hit a wall. She had been creeping through the tunnels for a while before she heard a loose pebble skirting across the tunnel floor, making a clanking echo. "Whose there?" Flamingsoul hissed into the darkness, afraid of what could be trailing her.
It wasn't rare to find the Commander alone in the tunnels. His job required frequent meetings and excursions and he didn't ask cats to accompany him most of the time -- it would be a waste of their skills to keep trotting after him, and he wasn't close enough with any of them to warrant it anyway. His Sentinels barely knew him either, so it wasn't hard to convince them their time was best spent working on the reconstruction and guarding his Mercenary Superior. And so, Raijin walked alone -- a blue and white shadow against the dark tunnels, humming lightly to keep himself in good spirits.
The tunnel amplified the sound of a cat heading toward him but he didn't think twice until he heard an alarmed hiss follow him kicking a stone, and a rank fear scent. Raijin tilted his head curiously - that didn't sound like one his cats. He stepped carefully around the bend in the tunnel and into a straightaway where he could see the intruder in front of him, and leaned against the tunnel wall as he glanced up and down her and then settled his intense blue gaze on hers.
"Next time you got lost, you might want to play nice, or else you'll end up in my leafbare nest," Raijin told her casually. It was a joke, his cats would never agree to such a thing, and their painfully strict moral code was starting to rub off on him.
"Then I guess I'm lining my nest with cat fur. Excellent; it's quite warm, you know. Rabbit fur is easier to get a hold of, but this will do suitably." He didn't move from his position on the wall, still watching her with that intense stare, lips pressed thin together as he wrested with a decision. He wasn't keen on holding her prisoner or stopping her from leaving, they had enough trouble with stray cats already, but he wasn't a big fan of his tone. This wasn't a cat he wanted roaming around his territory freely.
"You've only just arrived. It's polite to announce your visit beforehand, by the way, but I'll let it go this once. You can't leave without attending a welcome meal, though. It's basic hospitality."
She flicked the tip of her tail and rolled her eyes. "I didnt mean to end up here! Like I would ever purposely come here. I fell into your stupid tunnels!" She protested, the fur on her shoulders bristling. "I am not a guest and you are no friend. Why should I trust you?"
"Honestly?" He raised his brow. "You shouldn't. But you can trust my Regime has enough pride to keep me in line, so I've got no choice but to be honorable. Like it or not," he added more seriously, "you're here now, so you're either a trespasser or a guest. Either you'll be driven out with an escort and some wounds to remember us by, or you'll leave with a fully belly and some respect; choose wisely."
Not all of the cats in the Regime would appreciate him bringing in a stray for a meal, really, he suspected most wouldn't. But they were proud cats and it was too easy to use their pride for his own gain. He wasn't ready to let this one go, not without assessing her further, and a required meal was the easiest way to do it.
Flamingsoul raised a brow, amusement replacing the hostility in her eyes, "Y'know, there are easier ways to getting a date than to force someone." She then let out a defeated sigh. "Very well. But you must agree to release me immediately after the meal."
Raijin chuckled amiably. "This won't be more than a quick bite in the middle of some dark tunnel; I'll show you what a real date looks like another time," he suggested. "As soon as we're done here you'll be free to go. You can have an escort back to the surface if you'd like... we can discuss that later. Are you injured?" She didn't look to be bleeding or substantially harmed, but the fall easily could have left her bruised or worse.
(What do you think about maybe them accidentally having kits? You can say no, it's just a thought! Maybe Raijin never finds out?)
She nodded, reluctantly, agreeing to having this meal with him. At his question, she looked down at herself and examined. "Just a few bumps and bruises...and a bit dirty. I'm fine" she reported.
"Good. I'm glad you aren't badly hurt.... it would be a shame if I had to carry you the whole way." The blue tom grinned. He was tall and streamlined, muscular but not enough to comfortably drag a cat through tunnels as long as these. "Come this way, and stay close to me. I don't want you getting lost down here."
(Yeah! If we are going to do a full litter, we might want to wait until after all the Independence Day litters because they are still waiting for people to take them. Or, I can have Flamingsoul have complications and she only gives birth to 1 or 2 kittens!)
She smirked and let out a small chuckle. "I dont get lost" she boasted, lifting her chin as she followed Raijin.
(I think a small litter could be cute, but we can still wait until after these litters are done c:)
"Maybe up on the surface, but down here? I've been here for moons and I still don't know where half these tunnels lead out. They all look the same. As far as I know, one of them leads right into the Nemesis' den," he joked.
(Okay! We can wait until after the other litters and then we can talk about it again!)
"How do you even know your way around? If it's as confusing as you say it is, why do you live here?" She asked, wishing there was more to look at but all she saw was darkness.
Raijin's whiskers twitched thoughtfully. "You get to know some places. It's hard to explain, but you build a map in your head, and you can follow the shape of the tunnels, the light, sometimes even the texture of the ground or the echo or the motion of the air... and we leave some markers, they're just hard for an outsider to notice." A wink. "Keeps all of our visitors nice and confused. As to why I live here, well..." The blue tom stopped and turned to face her, inclining his head in greeting, a glint of humor in his blue eyes as he realized he had yet to properly introduce himself. "I have no other choice. The Commander has to live with his cats."
"Commander Raijin, at your service." He flashed a wide grin and bowed his head low to his white front toes. "Not what you were expecting? It's okay, I wasn't either," he laughed warmly. Commander was the last thing he had expected before he'd been offered the position, but it had been too tempting to resist. Who else got to train at Commander Mars' paw and take over for him? He thought it would be fun.
She grinned back, feeling a warm fuzzy feeling in the pit of her stomach -- something she had never felt before but she quickly pushed the feeling away. "Well, I suppose we all have our secrets! I'm actually the deputy of Nightclan" she purred, dipping her head in turn to his. "Pleasure to meet you, Commander Raijin." She flashed him a flirty smirk before raising her head again.
“The deputy! And I’m planning on giving you some half-drowned mice my warriors fished up for a meal.” He shook his head, dismayed. He hadn’t planned on spoiling her, just getting her something to eat, but she must be used to better treatment. “Hmm,” he mused, “I wonder if the scouts have brought anything new in.”
She chuckled and shook her head, "No, no. It's quite alright. I usually get the last pick of the pile, anyway. Being deputy may have its perks but it also has its downsides including being too busy and by the time I get to retire for the day, everyone has already feasted and I get the last pick. No need to make a fuss over me." She liked this tom, she decided. He was nice and friendly. It had been a long time since someone hadn't looked at her as a monster which is exactly what she was but for one day, perhaps it wouldnt be so bad to actually be happy.
Raijin frowned. "Even more reason for me to find you a proper meal. We'll make do with we can... this time. Next time I'm finding you the biggest lapwing on the surface. Do you like lapwing?" He paused, then reconsidered his question. "I should be asking: what's your favorite prey?" He was determined to find something good for her if he could. He enjoyed making other cats happy, it was just a benefit that she also happened to be sweet on the eyes.
