Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Grandsky: son of Angelwings and a fling, raised as the son of Devilhorns his uncle, brother to deceased Littlesea and Mightyearth, cousin and older brother to Fierykit, Blazingkit, Ashkit, and Scorchedkit. He is the Lunar Guard captain of MoonClan, an older brother and a loyal son. And yet, love has evaded him time and again. His first mate passed away. The last she-cat he spoke to left before he could ever confess. Would he ever find love? He was getting older now, nearly that of a senior warrior. And yet, he was alone. Sure, he had his family, his father was once again with him, but not a lover. No one to share his life with.
The maine coon tom, gazed out at the stars. His mind miles away, wondering when it would be his time, if ever, to find love. Would the stars permit it? Or was he cursed to love no one because of the choices his mother made? Were teh deaths she caused on his shoulders? Somedays he wondered. Though he knew only oneself could make their future, but fate always had a way with things like these.
"Fascinating, aren't they?" Pinesong asked as she sat down next to Grandsky and curled her tail over her paws, fixing her pale blue gaze onto the stars above. "My father told me that each star represents one of our ancestors. Although, I don't think that's true, it's a comforting feeling, thinking that they're so close to us." Pinesong stated. The dark red she-cat had been taught the story of both the Moon God and StarClan. Her father was still a strong believer of StarClan. He was deeply rooted in tradition and history and made sure his kits knew most of MoonClan history, especially considering they were descended directly from Moonstar and her mate Lightningstrike, two ancient MoonClan warriors.
"Our ancestors, uh?" Were Mightyearth and Littlesea up there? Maybe. The tom had never been very religious. Rising within the ranks of his chosen home, he'd heard of the Moon God, but he'd grown up hearing about StarClan within NightClan. Which was real? Who did one worship? So, he'd chosen neither. Grandsky believed his siblings watched down on him, just as he knew he would if their places were switched. "I suppose that helps some. Knowing they're so close and yet so far out of reach." He knew the feeling well. For moons he'd been separated from his adoptive father, and all because of his birth mother. Now, Devilhorns was here with him and they were close once again.
"I don't know what I believe." Pinesong responded with a small shrug. "Seems kinda cruel that they'd be so close yet so far, like they can watch us and see us but, we can't see them. I do believe that our ancestors exist and that they talk to us through our medicine cats but I also don't feel deeply connected to them, you know?"
"Yes, but we'd never accept their death if we could still see them. I think it's a good thing, even if all they can do it guide us from the shadows." Even then, how good was their guidance? We're they really able to influence things or were they merely there as observers? Grandsky didn't care. It was the idea that matter and the thought that count. To him, each cat could believe what they wanted.
"What about the family you still have?" He wasn't sure about things in Pinesong family, but for him, he'd take the living over the dead. And he knew, those who'd passed before him would want him too.
Pinesong purred happily at the mention of her family. "I'm very fortunate to have a large family. My littermates and I have new siblings! Phoenixblaze is my aunt and I've learned a lot from watching her! She's going to make a great leader one day!" Pinesong explained happily. "Family is important. I was very close to my sister, Flamingsoul, before she left the Clan to join Primal Instinct, she was my best friend and favorite hunting partner, but her departure has brought me closer to my brother, Timberfrost and one day when our new siblings are old enough Timberfrost and I will be hunting with them!" she carried on. "What about your family?"
"My father recently joined, and with him his latest litter of kits. They're nearly apprentice age, should be any day now." Grandsky puffed out his chest when talking about his little siblings. While he may be adopted and they're blood children, the tom knows neither group is loved any less. Devilhorns is both his blood uncle and adoptive father, the best tom that he could ask to call dad and only saw him as that. He didn't care about how it all worked or even how it ended up that way. Grandsky just accepted that his life was better being raised by his biological uncle and adoptive father than by his murderous birth mother. "Have you seen them? I helped some with them, hoping they wouldn't stress father out too much, but I think kits just have a way of doing that to any cat."
Pinesong's whiskers twitched in amusement. "I know I definitely caused my parents a lot of stress when I was a kit! I've seen them playing outside the nursery when I visit my mother and younger siblings, they're adorable and they're going to make excellent warriors someday! Hopefully Phoenixstar will give me my own apprentice soon!" She'd been working hard and was hoping for a chance to prove herself as a great mentor as well as a great warrior.
"Maybe you'll get one of them. But for warning, their a handful." Oh, didn't he know it. He'd mistakenly volunteered once to babysit for the afternoon. Needless to say, Grandsky was sure the kits knew how much of a push over he really was. Maybe didn't see it through all of the intimidating stares, feirciness, etc. But oh, was he one. Those kits had him like mud in their claws.
"Hopefully once they are promoted they'll settle down work hard on becoming warriors!" Pinesong laughed in response. "Truthfully once I was a 'paw I was too terrified of my apprenticeship being extended or having to clean out the elder's den for moons on end to act up." she added with a amused twitch of her whiskers.
"That's the hope at least." Grandsky could just see the lot running around, forced to do one task after the other. At least, or he hoped, that he wouldn't get one of them as an apprentice. "I'm gonna go ahead and apologize now if you end up with one of them as an apprentice." He grinned, sheepish and yet sincere for he wished them on no one. The tome knew what it was like to try and train an apprentice. Challenging was the only word he could come up with.
"Ha! No apology needed! The more challenging my first apprentice is the better mentor it will make me in the long run!" she said. "Anyways, I was just about to head towards the river, care to join me?"
(Your good. Sometimes I don't have the motivation to reply to certain threads, don't know how I wanna reply, or just don't have time to get them all. So I get it lol! Was there anything in particular you had in mind for this thread? Some way you thought it might go? I'm open to ideas. My main goal was just that he found a supportive mate and had kits, so I left the thread more open but still set up with the idea of family is really important to him. One idea I had was that she meets, like actually introduced to and not just knows him from being in the same clan, Devilhorns? I don't roleplay any of the kits, so I'm not sure what's going on there but she can meet his adoptive father. Basically Grandsky is very family oriented and will want kits and a loving mate, kind one of his life goals: loving mate, happy kits, and helpful to the clan. )
Grandsky smiled, "or more exhausted. They've got more energy than I ever thought I had." While his childhood had been good, there had always been a tension laying over it. He later learned it was because of Angelwings constantly hovering, waiting for Devilhorns to fail so she could strike. "A swim sounds nice. Maybe will even catch something. I could pretend to be your apprentice so you can get some practice in." He was teasing, but it was nice to have someone to tease. It'd been so long since he'd last opened up to anyone outside of family, and it wasn't like he had a lot of that.
(actually that's a really awesome idea! I'd love to RP her meeting Devilhorns. She comes from a line of cats that River and I have had and RPed since like 2009-2010 so family is kinda a big deal for her too. At this point I think she's related to half of MoonClan, Phoenixstar is her aunt and there's literally so many of her relatives in MoonClan lol I RP her father too (who's either Phoenixstar's cousin or brother) so we can even have Grandsky meet him as well. But I literally have the same goal for Pinesong's character, loyal warrior, happy with a mate and kits. I know River and I want to eventually do a large family RP with the Moonstar / Lightningstrike line which includes all the directly related cats and their mates and kits and stuff so that might happen in the future, not sure yet though.)
"You know how to fish?" Pinesong asked half excitedly and half surprised. It was never a skill she'd acquired during her apprenticeship since it wasn't typical of most Clan's to fish but it was something she always wanted to know how to do. "If you know how to fish I call getting to be the apprentice because I want to learn how to do that!" She added, mimicking his teasing tone.
(So what your saying is I'll have fun trying to track all of these cats down for my family tree when I add her. Challenge accepted. I did all of Lightningswift's family tree cus they interacted with one of mine. Are they related to that family tree at all? This'll be fun to figure out it'll give me something to do when I'm avoiding studying this week between finals.)
(Their family is so few and has had so many hardships already that they just keep to themselves. Kind of makes them like outcasts. Doesn't help that they've hardly trusted anyone and that Grandsky climbed the ranks fairly quickly, so others are a little wary of them. Especially cus of Devilhorns' past and appearance. So it's interesting to watch him open up. And would be really interesting to see the antisocial dad that is Devilhorns try and be friendly, he's just awkward and has been controlled most his life by either his sister, responsibilities or as a spy. Definitely having the dads meet. Like a meet and greet for the dads. Omg I love it let's do it!!!!)
Grandsky couldn't help but smile seeing this she-cat so excited. He knew few that were ready or even willing to have apprentices. Most were wary of the idea or messing up or just in general. "I learned from my father when we were both still in NightClan." It was one of the first training sessions he'd had, and the best to date. He'd been unlucky enough to end up with his mother as his mentor though he hadn't known her as anything more than his aunt at the time.
( XD I can probably give you most of them, TBH lol, there's a lot of dead ones too. Lightningswift doesn't sound familiar... Pinesong is decended from Moonstar and Lightningstrike line... I have the Moon and Lightning kits listed somewhere, they had like 3-4 litters so there was a lot of their kits and then grand kits and now there's Leopardblaze who I RP and Pinesong is his daughter so there's just like several generations and Leopardblaze has cousins in MoonClan right now because there was his litter and then his cousins born around the same time so at one point the whole nursery was Moon / Lightning descendants lol Do we wanna use this thread for the meet and greet of dads or make a new one? either way is cool with me lol and Leopardblaze is kinda the opposite he's outgoing and friendly so this could work out really well! )
"What was it like in NightClan?" Pinesong asked curiously, starting to head towards the river. "I've never even so much as visited another Clan's camp before so I've always wondered if they were similar or different from us." she said.
(Meet and greet here sounds fine.) (lol so you're saying that'll take us a while)
"Different. More tense than here." Though, that could have just been his own experience. During his time there, one couldn't trust anyone, not even family. Angelwings had proven that and drilled it into his head when she was his mentor. Grandsky smiled, "definitely different. I like it here better. What was it like for you growing up in MoonClan?"
Pinesong listened thoughtfully when Grandsky explained life in NightClan. She wasn't sure she liked the sound of a tense Clan life. She truly enjoyed the relaxation she felt among her Clanmates. "Um... it was fun and definitely relaxed in my opinion. I mean we train hard and work hard to care for the Clan but I was fortunate enough to grow up with my aunts and uncles teaching my siblings and I hunting techniques for fun and at one point they even took us out to explore outside of camp before we become apprentices. There was that rough patch where we went through a few different leaders in a short amount of time and my sister who was also my best friend decided to leave and join Primal Instinct but for the most part it's been... stable." she answered.
(Sorry I had finals and then I started work when I got back. Had to deal with that on top of my room flooding this week because of the storms)
Grandsky smiled, stable that sounded nice. How he wished his childhood had been like that. Devilhorns had been stable, his siblings had been stable, his mind was still stable. But his mother, his beginning, his clan, his apprenticeship? None of that had been. "What of your family? Your siblings? Are you all still close?" How he wished his family were all still here. But alas, he was the last of his litter and had no kits of his own. Sure he had Devilhorns and his latest litter to call family, but siblings were always closer to one another. At least that's how it had been for him.
