(A surprise Earthquake strikes NightClan destroying their camp and causing devastating and shocking changes to the territory)
The first warning that something was wrong, was a rumbling noise. It was about midday, most of NightClan sleeping with the exception of the cats set to keep watch through the day.
Thistlebriar sat atop a rock looking out into the territory beyond, trying to fight down a yawn when he heard it. A low rumbling noise.
Immediately his ears pricked and he straightened up into attention looking around to try and discern the source of this rumble. He'd never heard it before. It reminded him of the growl of a beast... but much louder, gravelly and guttural in a way.
He opened his mouth to scent the air, but there was no scent of any predators from what he could tell. And he was downwind... but perhaps it was upwind of him, near the side where the other cat on watch was. He opened his mouth to call to the other cat on watch, when a low cracking sound caught his ears and he turned to notice a crack beginning to form in the dry earth a ways ahead of him.
"Great StarClan, what is that?!" He cried jumping back as the crack begin to move like it was breathing, shifting closer together and then further apart, shaking beginning to take over the area, trees rattling, the dens beginning to shake and the apprentices den even started to crumble.
A shriek of surprise from Viscariapaw who had some of the apprentices den fall on him coughed, dust and plant debris landing on him making him shake himself. "The den's caving in!" He cried to his denmates before immediately bolting just barreling through whichever apprentice was between him and the exit, knocking Beetlepaw down in his haste to get out and shoving Flickerpaw aside to get out of the den coughing and spitting, eyes widening as he took in the rattling forest. "The forest is shaking!" He cried.
"NightClan! There is trouble!" Thistlebriar yowled, as the rumbling and shaking began to get stronger, more openings in the land beginning to open up around the camp, and a few even in the camp. One near the medicine cat den, a crack began to open and water started to rise from within it. The puddle getting bigger and bigger, steadily growing to take the den.
Larkwing burst from the warriors den, wide awake in alarm. "Everyone! Evacuate!" He shouted. They had to get away from the cracking before some cat got hurt.
However, that had been too late. Echopaw had been curled up at the back of the apprentice's den when it began to crumble. She had no time to react before a part of the den collapsed on her tail and a cloud of dust engulfed her. "Help!" She cried, hoping someone would hear her over the collapsing of the earth. "I'm stuck!" Her eyes were wide in fear and her heart felt like it was going to burst out of her chest as she clawed at the ground in attempt to free herself.
Burningstar nudged Lindon practically shoving her mate out of their shared den, once he was safely out of the den she straightened up and moved forwards, amber eyes blinking as she brought herself to wakefulness, squinting against the harsh light of the sun that was just beginning to dip in the sky. Struggling to keep her footing as the ground began to shake even more violently, the trees rattling around them. "You heard Larkwing! Warriors grab anyone struggling and move!" She looked around considering their surroundings, the ways the tree was shaking, the cracking earth beneath their paws. Where was safe? "Head for clear air!" She ordered figuring that better to chance cracks in earth than falling trees. "Head out and move towards the clearing!"
She hurried towards the nursery where Stealthclaw was hastily grabbing and going back in shoving all the kits out of the nursery the silvery she cat already getting several twigs and dirt in her pelt from the crumbling den.
Beetlepaw darted back into the apprentice den, wincing as the dirt and sticks rained down on him, scrambling through it. "Someone grab my tail!" He cried to his denmates. "We need to save Echopaw!" He said as his paws hit Echopaw's body, "Grab my paw!" He called to her, "If you get closer I can-" He coughed as a cloud of dust erupted near his face. "I can grab your scruff maybe!" He gasped out.
Larkwing glanced back at Burningstar to make sure she was safe before leading the cats to the exit to camp. He halted just before the exit, encouraging the cats through it. "Lets go! Move! Do as Burningstar said! Head for clear air!"
Echopaw grabbed Beetlepaw's paw. "I don't know if you can get me free!" She shouted as she kicked the object that had fallen on her tail. Just before she was about to give up and tell him to leave her, the object moved slightly enough to dislodge her tail. "I got it!" she cried happily, allowing Beetlepaw to pull her out of the den but helping him out so she wasn't dead weight.
Beetlepaw managed to pull Echopaw free but stumbled and wound up on his belly when she came free, making him hiss in pain as it aggravated his still healing wounds from the fox. He'd just been cleared for training too! Fox dung! But at least they were out of the den giving him a second to catch his breath.
A distant cracking noise could be heard one of the rocks that surrounded the camp that the cats on watch stood on began to shudder, cracks in the earth forming under it and beginning to give way the rock shifting towards camp.
"Skypaw!" Soaringbird shrieked, seeing her daughter the blind Skypaw in it's path. The young blind apprentice having had scrambled out of the apprentice's den only to trip and wind up with her paw stuck in one of the shifting cracks the little she cat struggling to pull her paw free.
Thistlebriar seeing this jumped into camp and hurried to the blind apprentice eyes darting up towards the looming boulder. The cracking of the earth getting louder and louder, dust falling onto Skypaw as the rock shifted towards her. The apprentice, not fully sure what was falling on her or why but knowing it was bad struggled harder to get her paw free.
"Thanks Beetlepaw" she breathed in relief as she helped the apprentice up after he had fallen. "Come on, on your paws" she encouraged, pushing him up. Suddenly, Soaringbird's cry for Skypaw got her attention and she followed the she-cat's gaze toward the apprentice who seemed to be caught. She turned back to Beetlepaw, "Hurry! Get out of here! I will catch up!" she called behind her as she darted to Skypaw's aid. "Skypaw, I'm here. Hold on" she assured the apprentice as she dug fiercely at the ground in attempt to free Skypaw.
(racer need you for Turbulentpaw and maybe Spiderpaw brightleaf gonna need you for Brightpaw)
Beetlepaw nodded to Echopaw before darting towards the exit, his mother Duskwing making sure he left at the entrance before taking a step back towards the apprentices den.
"Briarpaw?! Spiderpaw?!" She called for her other children, the older she cat moving towards the apprentice den worriedly.
///---///
Skypaw continued to struggle, trying desperately to get her paw free from the crack, hissing in pain as the crack moved like it was breathing, getting bigger then smaller the earth getting tight enough to just pinch her paw, and not get large enough for her to easily pull back out again. With Echopaw's help and the earth opening just wide enough she yanked her paw free just as a loud crack, and a rumble as the large stone rolled towards them.
Soaringbird let out a screech of terror bolting towards the two. But Thistlebriar was quicker, the tom darting in and throwing himself into the two apprentices throwing them clear just as the rock crashed down on him and crushed him with a sickening crunch able to be heard. Soaringbird forced to skid to a halt almost smacking her muzzle into the rock as it came to rest on the ground, the she cat's blue eyes wide with horror.
Skypaw unable to see what had happened but hearing the rock roll towards them, sensing it looming over them bout to crush them, followed by the force shoving her and Echopaw clear... And then the sound like air being punched out followed by a sickening snapping noise made skypaw's blood run cold. "What happened?! What shoved us! Who shoved us!" She turned her head mouth opening, the smell of blood starting to register in her nostrils and the blind apprentice scrambled back from the growing source of the stench shoving back into Echopaw.
Echopaw was shoved along with Skypaw. Echopaw had stumbled over from the force of the shove. Then she looked up just as the rock crushed Thistlebriar. Her blood ran cold and she felt a cold stone sink into her stomach. She wanted to screech in both horror and grief but shock kept her from saying anything. She stood, frozen, green eye wide in horror as she stared at the bolder and watched as blood oozed out from underneath it.
Larkwing had looked back to check on the rest of the cats fleeing the camp just in time to see what happened. His heart sank and he felt sick though he managed to keep himself from going into shock. He had to save the rest of his clan. He raced over toward the two apprentices and Soaringbird. "Lets go! Get out of here!" Larkwing grabbed Skypaw by the scruff and half carried her, half dragged her to the exit, trying to run without tripping over the grown apprentice's dangling body. He looked back to see Echopaw staring in shock, unable to carry both apprentices. "Echopaw! Move" he yowled through a mouthful of fur.
Echopaw snapped out of it at the sound of Larkwing's order. Heart racing and tears forming, she ran for the exit, taking one last look at the bolder.

(I'm gonna be a bit sparse this week because of life, but I'm gonna try and help you out with the plot)
Brightpaw was terrified. StarClan hadn't told her of anything like this. Was the world ending? She was scared and she didn'y know what to do. "Turbulentpaw! Wake up! I'm scared." She was now full on crying, her tears blurring her vision. She ran outside to see the commotion, looking left and right in a panic. She was too overwhelmed to know what to do. Where was Turbulentpaw? He was her levelheadedness. She heard a sickening crunch to see a boulder landing beside Echopaw and Skypaw. She saw them run off towards the exit of the camp. "Wait for me! Wait for us!" She called out, looking back at the den. She took a step back towards the den to grab any herbs that she could save, hesitating.
Twilightpaw raced through the camp, looking for Frozenfire and Ericanorth. "Frozenfire! Ericanorth!" She called desperately, weaving through the falling rocks. She was doing well, gracefully going through the camp, dashing towards the warrior's den. A stray large rock came crashing to the ground beside her. "Thank StarClan I-" She was cut short by another large rock falling, landing forcefully down on her back. Pain surged through her, then nothing. "H-hey, HEY! HELP! I-I can't, move..." She cried out, stretching out her forepaws for anyone or anything.
brightleafracer Water was flooding, seemingly rising up and flowing into the medicine cat den, it was quickly becoming deep enough that Brightpaw's paws would be submerged, and a lot of the herbs were becoming useless as they wound up in the rising water.
Faith Frozenfire turned at the sound of her name being called the silver tabby having been about to leave. She spotted Twilightpaw under a large boulder and grit her teeth. Normally she would've saved herself but she'd come to like having the little scrap following at her and Ericanorth's heels. "Ericanorth!" She shouted to her partner and crime, "Get your tail over her and help me!" She said, if she ever wanted to one day kick out the weak leadership she couldn't be going and abandoning her supporters.
Frozenfire stepped over a crack quickly getting to Twilightpaw's side. She winced when she saw that the rock seemed to be pressed down on Twilightpaw's lower half... That couldn't bode well. But still. "Can you move? If I try to lift this thing off you can you get out?" She wouldn't be able to lift and pull Twilightpaw out at the same time if the apprentice could not pull herself out.
Skypaw whimpered from Larkwing's hold on her, the young she cat overwhelmed by it all. The shaking beneath their paws, the sounds of earth splitting, water bubbling up from somewhere along with it sloshing as it started to flow from the earth around them.
Soaringbird moved a bit stiffly back from the rock horrified, when a keening wail made the silver and gray tabby jump.
Smallspiral wailed as she rushed towards the rock shoving against it with all her might. "No! Thistlebriar! Thistlebriar!" She cried for her brother who was now crushed beneath the rock his blood seeping out from under it, cementing the grim reality of his death.
"EVERYBODY PANIC!" Raspberrypaw screamed, she was running around in a literal circle in the middle of camp. She was pretty much only avoiding the chaos because she was in the exact halo of space where there were no trees or debris to crash into her, at least not yet, "WE'RE ALL GONNA DIIIIIIIIIE!"
Ericanorth was already saving herself when she noticed Frozenfire had stopped ditching everybody which immediately made her stop. Twilightpaw was trapped under a boulder. Mouse dung! Mouse dung Twilightpaw, why!? Why do you have to be so pathetically adorable in that little sister kind of a way?
Gritting her teeth Ericanorth spun on her toes and raced back over to camp. She could already tell Twilightpaw was pinned, if they dug deeper the boulder would pin her deeper. Really she was about close to tears because it didn't take a genius to see that she was screwed and there was nothing a singular stick or sturdy vine was going to do to get Twilightpaw out. It was only when water touched her paws did she race over to Brightpaws side only to shovel up muck and not assist the medicine cat apprentice and race back over to Twilightpaw, "Soften the ground Frozen. Dig a mote over here and we'll be able to pull her out or even move the boulder. We have to be quick!"
"Brilliant idea Erica!" Frozenfire said before doing as her friend suggested immediately beginning to dig a mote, she was impressed by Ericanorth's brilliance. She'd have to tell her that later, after they got Twilightpaw out.
Soaringbird seeing Raspberrypaw running around in a circle hurried over to her other daughter, she could see her daughter was panicking so the she cat struggled to think. "Raspberrypaw I need you to do me a big favor." She said reaching out a paw to try and stop her daughter's running around. "I need you to run that way as fast as you can," Soaringbird said once she got her daughter to stop for a moment. "If you get there fastest you can claim a spot in the clearing as your personal spot, but only if you get there before I do, okay? Do you want to have your own personal spot where you can dig your holes, and do whatever you feel like?" She asked, hoping that the offer of a reward or presenting it as a challenge might get through to her hyperactive daughter.
Larkwing made it out of camp to where the other cats were running to. "Here, someone guide Skypaw to safety. I need to make sure everyone is out of camp!" He ordered, thurning back around and sliding to a halt near Twilightpaw where the two she-cats were trying to free the apprentice. "I will help you move the bolder" he volunteered. "Hold on Twilightpaw. I need you to be that tough little apprentice that I know you can be" He hoped encouraging her would help her remain calm and he began to help digging the mote.
Echopaw nudged Smallspiral. "Come on, we will come back to say our proper goodbyes when this is over. Right now, we need to get to sa-" before she could finish her sentence, another big shake knocked her on her paws. She quickly rose to them again and nudged Smallspiral again toward the exit, her heart breaking.

Twilightpaw looked at them, grabbing the ground with her paws. While they dug around her, she gritted her teeth and began pulling herself and dragging her body away from the rock. She sighed a breath of relief and tried to get up, but her legs failed her as they twitched one and then fell back motionless again. Panic surged through her as she looked at her mentor and Ericanorth. "I-I can't move..." Then the expletives began. "I need to find my brothers, they're too stupid." She croaked, trying to drag her self to find them. She wasn't going to let them see she was weak.
brightleaf, Faith Frozenfire could immediately tell something was wrong. "Your brothers will have to manage, we need to get you out of here." She said, "Ericanorth and I will carry you together." She said looking at Ericanorth over Twilightpaw. They could not afford to stay here not when they'd already lost a cat to falling rocks. She hoped Twilightpaw was just stunned and that once they were out and things calmed they could reassess and Twilightpaw would turn out okay. But dread was starting to gather in her belly. "We need to move swiftly." She added in case Twilightpaw took offense to being carried as she bent down and grabbed the younger she cat by her scruff.
Spot Skypaw was shaking all over the young silver and gray tabby stumbling, trying to move in the direction Larkwing had pointed her towards, all of her confidence in knowing where she was going lost as the earth continued to shake making the apprentice stumble and fall on the ground. She could hear the trees rattling with the quaking, leaves and twigs falling, low cracking and splintering noises as rocks were dislodged all over the territory and sent plummeting or cracking apart. It was awful! All her senses were overwhelmed by it and it left the blind apprentice unsure which way was straight on.
Smallspiral let out a mournful noise but she let Echopaw push her away. "Thistlebriar." She sobbed as she let herself be pushed on by the apprentice, her whole body felt cold and numb. She'd just gotten her brother back it felt like from WinterClan! And now he was gone. Taken by the growling of the earth beneath their paws.
Hollypawracer After seeing Thistlebriar get crushed and Twilightpaw get hurt Duskwing's ears pinned back and she hurried towards the apprentice den. "Briarpaw! Spiderpaw! Where are you!" She cried she hadn't seen her children leave yet and feared something had happened to them.
indyracer @blankslate Stealthclaw finally had cleared out all her adopted kits, Burningstar now moving to the medicine cat den with the nursery now clear. "Coyoteway!" Stealthclaw cried looking for the tom who fathered the kits she cared for. The rest of the litter had been carried away, Divinekit and Sacredkit the only two that remained. "I need your help to carry one of your kits!" She yelped pulling the two kits in closer to her when a sizable branch crashed down nearby, the she cat looking around. Had the tom already left?
brightleafracer Burningstar hurried to the medicine cat den as she could see the other dens were almost emptied out and Larkwing was ushering out cats as fast as he could. Only the medicine cat den remained. Bleakwind finally made his way there as well through the chaos rampant in camp with all the cats fleeing and trying to take account of their weakest members.
Upon arriving and surveying the rising water that was rushing into the medicine cat den. Burningstar could tell Brightpaw was stunned seeing the young she cat looking stiff and wide eyed. Immediately the leader turned to Bleakwind as he came up behind her "Bleakwind! Get Brightpaw out of here," She told the tom when she saw him, the leader heading into the den to get Turbulentpaw, water still rising into the medicine cat den as she did.
Bleakwind nodded and crouched by Brightpaw. "Brightpaw, I'm going to pick you up and get you out of here okay, just go limp." He said gently to her before shifting to pick her up by the scruff. With a strain of effort he lifted her and hurried towards the exit.
@all One of the large trees beside the camp began to shake and shudder, a soft cracking noise began to be audible. The tree was a massive pine, if it fell the whole camp would be likely be covered by it.
Sacredkit felt smaller than usual as he watched his clan scramble around the crumbling camp. He heard the crunch that ended Thistlebriars life, and the young kit knew it couldn't have been a good sound. Large golden eyes looked up as his foster mother drew him closer, the ground rumbling below him as his world fell apart. "Stealthclaw? What's happening? Where's Papa?" He didn't want to be scared, but the bobtail kit couldn't help but shiver his spotted body.
Ericanorth's ear twitched slightly at Larkwing's presence, but made no comment watching as Frozenfire helped the apprentice out of the ditch they had made. Her fur raised at the sound of the pine tree, "Nope. We're ditching everyone!"
Ericanorth wiggled herself underneath Twilightpaw's body looking back at Frozenfire, "I can handle carrying her on my own, you need to lead us out of this, Frozenfire."
Desperation traitorously lit in Ericanorth's eyes, "We have to get out of this," Her words came out more confidently than she felt.
Larkwing followed the she-cats carefully as they carried Twilightpaw to the exit. He was there in case Twilightpaw were to fall or they lost their balance in the shaking of the earth.
Echopaw was following Smallspiral to the exit when she noticed her adopted mother, Stealthclaw struggling with her new adopted litter. She halted and turned back to help. Stealthclaw had done so much for her and there was no way she was going to just leave her. She skidded to a halt near Stealthclaw and the scrambling kits. "I'm here to help" she told her before bending down to speak to Sacredkit. "I'm going to pick you up, okay? Hang on" she lifted the kit up in her jaws, careful not to drop him in the shaky earth. Then she noticed the tree splitting, preparing to crush any last cats left in the camp. "Move!" Echopaw shouted through a mouthful of fur to the last of the fleeing cats. She followed Stealthclaw to the exit and managed to get though just as the tree crushed the camp. She leaped out of the exit with Sacredkit in her jaws and skidded on her belly, splinters from the giant tree showering her.
Faithbrightleaf Frozenfire nodded and bolted out. "Move!" She shouted at the cats ahead of them as the cracking got worse and worse, the pine tree starting to tilt dangerous, the earth around it's root falling away making the tree lose it's hold on the ground. "We've got cats we're carrying! Either quicken your paws, or make way!" She shouted glancing back at the tree starting to tilt closer and closer the rumbling and cracking noise getting louder and louder.
indySpotracer Stealthclaw let Echopaw take Sacredkit, while she snatched up Divinekit. She hurried out as Duskwing, Soaringbird, and Squirrelleap ushered out all the apprentices, carrying some apprentices who looked to be either out of it, or had been hurt by the crumbling apprentices den. Behind them the tree dropped slamming into camp, Stealthclaw wincing as splinters of wood showered them as she fled keeping a strong grip on Divinekit as she fled.
@all Viscariapaw, one of the first apprentices to bolt when he realized what had happened sat panting in the clearing Burningstar had ordered the clan to. The apprentice dropped to the shaking ground panting. The shakes weren't as bad, but he could see a few trees shift from the force of the quake back the way he had come. It was like a crazy harsh wind was coming at the trees from all angles the way they were rocking. Distantly the sound of large rocks on the more mountainous parts just beyond the territory, falling or being upset by the quake could be heard.
Even the clearing wasn't perfectly untouched. The same cracks that had appeared in camp were in the clearing, some with water bubbling up, and sloshing forming large rippling puddles in places.
The apprentice's ears lowered as he struggled to catch his breath. Though the cracks were still there, and the ground still shifted beneath his paws, there was nothing that could come down on his clanmates here. He turned back to watch as his clanmates started to make their way to the clearing he was at.
Echopaw climbed to her paws after she dived for safety. She had covered most of Sacredkit with her body protecting him from the splinters. She had just hoped she didn't hurt him when she fell. She continued to run on the shaky earth, zigzagging to keep her balance as she carried Sacredkit in her jaws. She neared the clearing and felt relief once she made it there. She set the kit down gently and sat down, panting.
Larkwing arrived just before Echopaw, panting as he checked everyone to make sure no one was seriously hurt. He slowly made his way over to his leader. "Burningstar, are you hurt?"
