The light brown she-cat's green eyes grew wide at the sight. Wow, she had never seen anything like it before. "It is... spectacular." She admitted, unable to peel her gaze from the sight before her. She examined the area and grinned mischievously at Skycloud "Last one in is a rotten mouse," and with that she took off towards the water. The small cat had a bit of a head start but he seemed like a resourceful and fast warrior. Pickles had a feeling he would catch up to her with ease.

A playful feeling came over Skycloud at Pickles' challenge, one he hadn't felt for moons. "Hey!" he called as he took off running. "I'm not going to be a rotten mouse!" He quickly caught up to her and gave her a mischievous shoulder bump to knock her off course. But in doing so, he missed seeing a small rock in his path which caused him to stumble. He then slid chin and chest first toward the edge of the pool. A small clump of damp earth piled up in front of his muzzle then fell backward into his mouth. "Yuck!" he exclaimed, spitting out the dirt.

She gasped, skidding to a stop and quickly turning around to run to his side, "Are you okay? Did you bump your head?" She asked, leaning over him to inspect for injuries. He sure had fallen pretty hard and she was worried he sustained some kind of major injury. "Can you stand up? How many paws am I holding up?" It was a bit of a silly question but it was only one paw. He definitely shouldn't be seeing more than that!

The first feeling he had was one of embarrassment for being so clumsy but now with Pickles fussing over him he found the whole situation quite comical. "One," he mewed before getting back onto his feet. "Guess what?" he asked with a glimmer in his eyes. "You're the rotten mouse!" He reached into the water and splashed her. "I touched the water first!"
Her jaw dropped in shock but quickly changed to a look of amusement as she giggled when the water splashed her face. "If that didn't look so real I'd call you a cheater!" She purred with laughter and jumped back into the water. One light brown paw scooped up a handful of water and splashed him, a mischievous glint in her green eyes. "I may be the rotten mouse but I am not above retaliation," Pickles splashed him again. It was all good natured fun and she was having and absolute blast.

"Hey!" he laughed as the first drops of water hit him in his face. "I guess turn about is fair play." He dove into the water relishing it's coldness as he swam toward Pickles while staying completely submerged. When he passed under her, he lightly nipped her tail. "Oh, there's one thing I forgot to warn you about," he meowed after resurfacing. "Watch out for flesh eating fish. They especially like cats' tails." Try as he could, he couldn't keep the mischievous grin from his face nor the sparkle from his eyes.

"If I didn't know any better I'd say you are the flesh-eating fish!" She squealed and backpedaled away from him with a laugh. "I've got claws for a reason, mr. fish!" She splashed him again, enjoying the coolness of the water. Soon it would be far too cold to swim so she was going to take advantage of this opportunity while she could. "I'll give those fish something to be scared of," She said bravely, extending her claws with great showmanship. She couldn't help but feeling a little mischievous herself, something about him was infectious in the best ways.

What a fun time he was having with Pickles! It was such a long time ago since he had felt this carefree. "Oh I soooo afraid, Ms. Cat!" Skycloud mewed in a kit-like voice. "Please don't catch me!" Laughing, he swam off toward the other side of the pool. A shadow passed through the water just ahead of him. Diving under the surface, he caught up to the fish and snagged it near it's gills. He rose again to the surface with the fish struggling in his mouth. Then making his way back to the shore, he delivered the killing bite. "Wanna share this with me?"

She giggled, swimming in his direction as he dove and she gasped when he broke the surface, fish in mouth. "Wow, I've never seen a catch quite like that. Very impressive, Mr. Fish." She smiled at him. "Honestly, I'm starving." Sge nodded at his proposal, following him off the shore. She shivered slightly as a slight breeze blew past. Shaking her fur a few times she gave her chest a couple of locks. Fortunately, she had short fur so she would dry quickly. "I haven't had fun like that in a while, thank you," She felt a little sheepish and cast her green eyes away from him with embarrassment. She wasn't sure why she felt embarrassed, but the brown cat could not remember the last time she'd had that much fun. Especially with another cat.

"Here, you can have the first bite," Skycloud mewed as he pushed the fish toward Pickles. There was something about this light brown she cat that was making his heart stir within his chest. "I haven't had this much fun in a long time either. I think it has a lot to do with the company I'm with." Mouse-brain! he mentally chided himself. He didn't want to sound too forward, the words had just come out. The last thing he wanted to do was to scare her away. The air felt colder on his wet fur and the air in his lungs stood still as he waited to hear her response.

"It's definitely the company for me," She responded boldly, heart pounding in her chest. Normally she was more timid and unwilling to be bold, but something within her told her to just be honest. It was true! She should have nothing to be embarrassed about. And yet, she felt warmth creep up her neck and face. Pickles took a bite of the fish to avoid saying anything she might really regret now that she was in this bold state. What if he suddenly thought she was weird or didn't like her anymore? "The fish is good, thanks for sharing," that was true too, it was good and extremely fresh to top it off.

First the sensation of relief flooded over Skycloud as he finally exhaled the air he had been holding in his lungs. Then an invigorating thrill raced around inside his belly at Pickles' statement. She likes me! He never thought he'd ever feel this way again with another she cat. But it's really happening! He just stood there with a silly smile plastered on his face and was staring at her partially in disbelief and partially just plain dumbstruck. Then realizing what he was doing, he gave his head a shake to clear his thoughts. "You're very welcome," he purred once he realized she had thanked him for the fish. "I'm glad you like it." He bent down and took a bite himself. It tasted like the best thing he'd ever eaten. But then the sun was brighter than ever before, the water was more sparkly than it ever had been, and the air was never fresher. His whole world seemed brighter now. It was as if he had stepped out of a dank and gloomy woods into a sunny and cheerful meadow.

She stretched out next to him as they finished the fish, close enough for their fur to touch. It was a little warmer when she sat next to him this way and for the first time she was comfortable in another cat's presence. It felt like she had little butterflies bouncing around in her stomach, "We should do this again sometime. Now that I've had a taste of fun I feel greedy for it." She chuckled and looked over at him.

Skycloud hadn't felt this contented for such a long time. In fact it had been awhile since he came to the falls and he was so glad he came today. "Real soon," he purred. "This has been a fun day." Actually he wouldn't mind if they never left this spot. But her last statement left a question is his head. Did she have such a hard life before coming to SummerClan that she never had any fun? True, he had his share of hard times - the loss of his parents and the accident with Coalkit at the ocean - but mostly his life was pleasurable. "Just wondering," he continued. "Didn't you have much fun before you came to SummerClan?"

(Sorry I disappeared! I've been on the absence chart as I was pretty sick. I am doing much better now though <3)
She smiled and shook her head, "Not really. Living in the city among two-legs and other cats who will kill you for a bite of food... it wasn't easy. There were too many creatures and not enough food. Living on my own was tough, if I was sick or injured I still had to search for food and there was no medicine like what you have here. I was so busy surviving I didn't really have time for fun. That's why I joined Summerclan, though, because even when times are tough everyone has each others backs. I really like that." She admitted. She certainly did not miss eating thrown out two-leg food or various types of crowfood.

"Wow...." Skycloud mewed solemnly. "That sure sounds like a very hard life. I grew up in the forest before coming here and I thought I had it hard then. You got me beat." He moved a little closer to Pickles and gave her a lick on her ear. "I'm so glad you came to SummerClan." After taking another bite from the fish he pushed it back over to her. "Did you not have any friends or family at all in the city?" In his opinion that would be the worst thing to face, being all alone.

She blushed at the lick and glanced down at her paws in a shy manner, giving him small glances as he spoke. "I used to have a mom and brother but they got pretty sick a while back. I don't know what it was but no remedies we had worked and the fever worked faster. My brother and I were practically inseparable though... we loved to tease some of the nearby house cats by standing on their fences. It was fun." She purred with laughter at the memory of him. They had been but kits, about the age of apprentices at the time. "Do you have family here in Summerclan?"

"I'm sorry to hear about your mom and brother," he replied sincerely. "I lost both of my parents in a badger fight, so I know what it's like to lose someone close." He looked up into the sky to gather his thoughts. Seldom did he talk about that tragic event. "Growing up they told me I was related to a long dead SummerClan leader named Graystar and if anything would happen to them to go live in SummerClan because I have distant relatives there. So that's what I did. The answer to your question would be both yes and no. Yes, I have distant cousins here in our clan but no, I don't have any close family." He let out a deep sigh and gazed at the waterfall.

There was a hint of sadness in that deep sigh and she leaned over to gently touch her nose to his shoulder. "I know its not the same thing, but you have me now. Im grateful for you helping me fit in. Summerclan feels a little bit more like home " She smiled softly. "Family is nice, but sometimes we just have to choose them." This clan was definitely family she had chosen and the dark brown she-cat was feeling better about it. "One of these days I'm wondering if I should pick a warrior name. Pickles seems to stand out too much, don't you think?" It would be nice to keep part of her name and maybe just make it more clan like. In a way the question was to see if that was even an option considering she was born an outsider.

A contented smile grew on the white and gray tom as Pickles spoke and touched his shoulder. He leaned in closer so their shoulders and sides were touching. It seemed like such a long time since he become close to anyone and it felt nice. "And you have me," he purred. He listened as she had more to say.
"Some cats I know keep their old names when they join, but a warrior name might help you feel more a part of SummerClan. I was just 'Sky' when I came but Ratstar added 'paw' to the end since I was only as old as an apprentice then. Let me think ..." As he paused, he nuzzled Pickles' neck with his nose. "How about Pickletail or maybe something completely different like Gentledeer or Gracefuldove?"
