After the death of Fawnheart, things seemed to take a turn for the worst within Springclan. Starclan wept everyday as the beloved medicine cat joined the ranks of their ancestors, and those that mourned for her were caught in the torrential downpour that seemed to last for more than a week. Kits were forced to stay within the nursery, growing restless with each passing day. Apprentices could no longer go out and train because of the horrid conditions. Some of the older cats were forced to visit Sakurapaw after catching colds and other illness because of the rain.
The young medicine cat was doing her best to keep up with her new responsibilities. Everyone was proud of her, but it wasn’t hard to see that Sakurapaw was beginning to struggle with the flux of cats coming her way. It was only when the rain finally stopped that Goldengriffon let out a sigh of relief. The clan was given a small reprieve as he sun shone on Springclan once more. Cats of all ages eagerly ran out into the light, taking in as much of the warm rays as they could. Kits were finally able to stretch their legs, and antsy apprentices could be seen sparring in the middle of the camp. The deputy should have felt some sort of happiness or relief at the sight. But there was something in his gut that told him not to celebrate the sunshine just yet.
A few days after the rains stopped, Goldengriffon noticed an increase in the mosquito population. The annoying bugs were having a schmorges-board on the cats of Springclan, including the deputy who bent down with a curse to scratch at one of the many bites that littered his pelt. Cats sent out on patrol would come back with soaked and muddied paws, and one patrol reported that the river was starting to swell. A few days later, the deputy had gone out himself to see if the waters receded. What he saw filled him with dread. He had only been walking for a few moments before he was met with swampy, stagnant water, buzzing with mosquitos and other bugs. Goldengriffon struggled with the mud that sucked at his paws as he ventured further, only to find that the river was still overflowing out onto its banks. With a small hiss, the pale tabby quickly made his way back towards the camp and into Jetstar’s den.Whoa whats this? A p-p-p-p-pLOT?!
Jetstar sighed. One benefit of her thinner pelt was that she was able to get water off faster than cats with thicker fur. But even that wasn't able to do much for her when faced with the deluge of water that SpringClan seemed to be under.
Many cats believed it was StarClan's way of grieving for Fawnheart now going up to join them. But Jetstar would rather appreciate it if their ancestors would so kindly cease their crying lest they drown SpringClan and wash them all away with the weight of their grief.
She let out a breath of relief that it was blessedly sunny outside and there was no rain for today. She stretched, claws digging into the dirt. Ears perking up as Goldengriffon arrived noting all the cats about in the camp. "Hello Goldengriffon, have you sent out patrols for today? With the rain finally stopped it's high time we get started on filling up our prey stores." The she cat meowed tail flicking.

Sourkit swatted one of the mosquitos angrily, pinning it down to the ground until it stopped moving. The little tom was finally able to leave their den, only to be confronted by the swarm of mosquitos that seemed to linger in camp. He already had several painful bumps, which did little to help his bad attitude. His tail went from one side to the other, before deciding that this could only be the result of one cat's misdeed... Jetstar....
He stalked up behind the leader, Jetstar being so used to him hanging around that she probably hadn't even noticed him at all. That was until his sharp teeth sank into her tail, taking out his frustration on the one cat he thought could fix the situation Jetclaw
Jetstar flinched when she felt something sharp in her tail, jerking it back whipping around to glare at the cause. Then huffed when she saw it was Sourkit.
"Sourkit," She said forcing herself to school her expression into something sweeter, though gritted teeth probably didn't help. That had really hurt, the kit's teeth were getting sharp as he got older. "Don't bite your clanmates." She ground out.
She took a breath then let it out relaxing a little, then took another, counted to ten and let it out. "Did you need something?" She said still sounding like she was holding back a screeching fit.

Sourkit held on tightly to the leaders tail, even as she spun around and was clearly trying to keep herself from loosing it on the little tom. It wasn't the first time he had bitten the leader to get her attention, nor would it be the last. As she asked him what he wanted, he finally released the tail from his jaws. He looked up irritated and pointed at the raised painful bumps on his skin "Ow" he agreed, before swatting at another bug "Kill them" his little tail lashed from one side to the other even more agitated then normal. Growling at leaping onto another one "They bite me, I bite you. You leader. Kill them"

Goldengriffon was about to answer Jetstar's question until his son had come tumbling into the leader's den. The pale tabby let out a sigh as he grabbed Sourkit by the tail and gently pulled him towards him and away from the leader. It was clear that his usually passive father was in no mood for any of this, and fixed the little tom with a look that simply said, we'll talk about this later.
"I was actually about to talk to you about that." The deputy said. "Sourkit, go find Sakurapaw for those bug bites. I'm sure she has something that will soothe the itching. I need to talk to Jetstar."
The golden tabby nudged his son out of the den before he let out a sigh. "Now about those patrols... I've sent plenty out hoping to restore the prey stores. But they haven't found anything... save a few drowned mice and rabbits. It seems they've all ran somewhere else. But we have a bigger problem. The river. It's overflowing."

Sourkit was clearly not happy, struggling in his father's grip as he was pulled back by his tail forceful "No" he protested , but the look his normally passive father gave him made his quiet once more. He stuck out his bottom lip in a pout as he was put down and sent to go see the medicine cat. He went, but he wasn't happy about it. Neither would his father be after he found out what the naughty kit had in store....
Jetstar grimaced. "Overflowing?" She echoed. Such a problem was new to her. SunClan's land was so dry since the fire she'd never had to contend with a water problem.
She was also troubled by the information about the water drowning their prey. But that was pushed aside in favor of concerns for their immediate safety. "Is it looking likely it might threaten the camp?" She asked him seriously. If that was the case... they'd need to move the clan immediately.
Jetstar had lived through a fire that had taken many SunClan cats lives. She also had been around for when Flamingstar and Kotori led a group of cats to try and drown the clans two years ago. She knew how dangerous water could be, and if they could have any advance warning that SpringClan needed to move she wanted to know now.

Newsnarl had just gotten back from a hunting patrol with only a dead frog to show for it. He wasn't really sure if it was edible since he'd never tried to eat one before, but it was better than bringing back nothing at all. Still, he felt it was best to get someone's opinion on it before handing it off to the queens. That's when he noticed Goldengriffon rushing to Jetstar's den. I wonder what that's about? Not even trying to resist the urge to find out, he followed the deputy's path until he was peeking into the den.
"Overflowing!? What do you mean overflowing!?" Newsnarl shouted, dropping the deceased frog in the process. "What are we gonna do!? I don't know how to swim!"
Jetstar glanced over at Newsnarl, "Calm down, panicking won't do us any good." She said firmly.
But for Goldengriffon to be so concerned the direness was becoming apparent.
"Newsnarl, go see if Softpelt is awake. She's familiar with herbs so she'll be good to have on paw, take her and go to the medicine cat den. Goldengriffon will finish telling me his assessment of if we need to move or not. But it's best to be prepared, tell Sakurapaw to start preparing the herbs in case we need to evacuate. Then go to the nursery and make sure the queens can move out if we need to leave right away." Jetstar said hoping that by giving the tom a task he'd stop panicking. Flurryofstars

Goldengriffon flicked an ear as he shook some more mud from his paws.
"And Newsnarl, please try and keep this as quiet as possible." The deputy asked. He hadn't been expected any of their clanmates to overhear his conversation with Jetstar, it was why he had pushed his son out to seek Sakurapaw. His children had a habit of spreading... wild stories, and panic was the last thing that anyone in Springclan needed.
"I was hoping that the floodwaters would recede... it's not uncommon for the river to swell after a few days of rain." The tabby said calmly. "But I've never seen the river overflow in such a way before. I didn't want to risk the safety of our warriors or apprentices so I headed out myself. I think you should come and see it for yourself"
Jetstar nodded. "We should make sure cats are ready to evacuate regardless," She said. "Even if there is no danger I'd rather us be prepared than not."
After all SunClan had been in such a dire position during the fire that had it not been for the Sun God's intervention they would've perished and that would've been the end. She didn't want such an outcome for SpringClan.

"Hopefully it doesn't come to that..." Goldengriffon said with a sigh as he looked back towards his clanmates. The pale tabby flicked his tail as he ducked out of the leader's den, letting out a soft hiss as he was bitten again by another mosquito. He'd have to talk with Sakurapaw about this... there had to be some way to avoid the damned bugs.
"We'll have to be careful. The mud will suck at your paws, so be sure to tread lightly."
Jetstar nodded treading carefully. "You don't need to worry about me, let's just check the river." Jetstar said.
She winced at the mosquito's biting at her flesh, her tail flicking out to swat some of them away for the little good it did.
She shook herself but kept after Goldengriffon intent on getting to the river as quickly as possible. Nova

Softpelt pushed herself up and made her way towards the medicine cat den. WAnting to check on Sakurapaw and as she walked she noted a small group heading in that direction. "Oh hello Newsnarl, Sourkit, is everything all right?" She asked them at the mouth of the medicine cat den.
She wondered if it was the mosquitos they were becoming quite a nuisance unfortunately.

Goldengriffon flicked his tail as he lead the way out of camp, constantly swatting at the mosquitos that tried to land along his flanks. The deputy didn’t say much as he led Jetstar towards the river. He was far too lost in his own thoughts to do so. His mind raced as he contemplated an evacuation. Where would they go? Its been… far too many seasons since Springclan had to evacuate the camp… did they even still have a place to go in a situation like this? Nothing had been prepared at all…
The only thing that pulled him from his thoughts was the sudden sensation of his paws being sucked down into the earth. The tabby paused as he looked around. The buzzing of mosquitos grew louder, and the smell of stagnant water was ripe in the air.
“This is as far as I was able to get.” Goldengriffon said with a soft growl as he tried to pull his paw out from the mud. “But look… the river isn’t meant to swell this far… even during the worst rainstorm’s its never done this before…”
Jetstar frowned as she considered the waters. "This isn't too far from camp..." She muttered. "If the rain picks up again this could truly become disastrous."
Her tail flicked behind her as she narrowed her eyes, glancing up at the heavy clouds above.
SunClan had been extremely dry when the fire hit, Jetstar shook herself.
"Out of an abundance of caution I think we should evacuate." She flicked her tail to the sky. "I'm not going to claim to predict the weather but the possibility of rain is too strong to chance it. Let's head back and inform the clan."
It was unusual for the waters to be so high, and stagnant, and she paused considering the land once more.
Had someone perhaps done something to their land.
Jetstar hesitated torn. The smart option was to retreat, but if someone had sabotaged their territory. She shook herself no, averting disaster came first.
The decision was compounded when a fat raindrop hit Jetstar on the nose. "That decides, it back to camp, we're evacuating."
"What is the highest point of SpringClan's territory?" She asked Goldengriffon as she headed back to camp. Forced to step lightly and so slowly to avoid sinking in the mud.
The mountains of course were an option, but that was far and they risked encountering the waterfall and if that was flooded they were in trouble.
Hearing voices approaching the den, the white she-cat sighed and rolled her neck, wincing at the pop and the tension radiating from her upper back. She'd been on the clock since the invasion of the mosquitos and had barely any time to sleep, let alone any time to herself. She had found herself desperately clinging to the shadows of the medicine den in between waves of clanmates in need of ointments and poultices for mosquitos and injuries from being out in the territory. She swallowed at the sound of Softpelt's voice and her ears began to droop against her head, a new wave of guilt flashing through her like lightning, the sensation of ice water rushing through her veins, and blinked her eyes of spots a few times. The she-cat padded forward.
"Softpelt... Sourkit, Newsnarl?" She blinked. "The mosquitoes again?"
Softpelt turned to Sakurapaw. "Well, it's hard to say for certain, I found them all out here and asked them what was up." She said nodding to Newsnarl and Sourkit. "But if they're here for the mosquitoes I can help with poultices and ointments... or try to get some more herbs." She assured her.
Though she paused as raindrops began to fall, and the fluffy white she cat sighed. "well... perhaps no collecting anymore." She said wincing.

Sourkit's tail lashed as he nearly stomped over into the medicine cat den, the young kit clearly not in a good mood. He sat down and held out his paw speckled with bumps from the bug bites "OW" he replied shortly, his eyes narrowing as he spoke "Fix it" he couldn't hold his paw up for long though, as he couldn't resist the urge to scratch any longer. He claws leaving little bloody lines behind them. ѕнαdow✩Jetclaw
Softpelt winced at the sight of the bites on the tom's leg. "Ah, that does look pretty bad." She murmured. She looked at Sourkit, "Well Sourkit's bites are irritating him so we'll need a poultice for that. And Newsnarl, were you coming here for bites as well?" She asked, turning to the tom. ѕнαdow✩Flurryofstars
