"Sounds like a plan!" Cutthroat replied. "I'll see if I can pick up it's trail again." He sniffed around the bushes until he picked up the prey's scent once again. "It went this way," he meowed, disappearing behind some bushes and tall grass.
Celestialglow bounced into the bushes behind him but misjudged how far he had gone in and ended up crashing into him. "Mouse dung!" She cursed under her breath as she laid in the dirt; feeling hot under her pelt with embarrassment. She hoped she didnt ruin the hunt.

Cutthroat found himself sliding on his belly in the dirt and grass after being pushed from behind. He stood up and faced Celestialglow biting back an unkind comment that just wanted to spill off the end of his tongue. Normally he'd speak his mind but for some reason he didn't this time. Accidents happen he reasoned. "What happened? Are you alright?" he asked.

Cutthroat's irritation dissolved as he saw the disheveled condition of Celestialglow. "I'm okay," he snickered, shaking dirt from his fur. "But that dirt and moss on your head took an awful beating!"

She couldnt help the twitching of her whiskers in amusement at Cutthroat's statement. "Yeah, guess it did." She gave her fur one more good shake before continuing, "where do you think it went to?" She asked, sniffing around for the missing rabbit.

"It's probably long gone by now," Cutthroat sighed. "We might be able to track it though or we might find something else along the way." He knew how erratic rabbits were. They could be following a zigzagging trail all across the forest before they finally catch up with the creature again.
She shrugged, "well, lets hunt!" She sniffed around again until she picked up the scent of rabbit. She wasnt sure if it was the same one but either way, it was still a rabbit. She crouched down and gestured with her tail for Cutthroat to do the same. "Okay, how about I chase the rabbit into your paws? I owe you one anyway."

Cutthroat perked up at the suggestion. "Sure! That sounds good to me." It had been awhile since someone had done that for him so he was eager at the prospect. "It would be nice to bring a rabbit back to camp." He knew that any prey would be welcome during Leafbare bit a rabbit would be especially nice.
"Its scrawny but it will do." She reported before taking position. Raising her tail, she gave Cutthroat the signal that she was ready and she leaped, scaring the rabbit out of hiding right toward her clanmate.

I have to time this just right, Cutthroat thought as he saw the rabbit streaking toward him. It was moving in a zigzagging pattern and he had only a few seconds to see it's rhythm. Just at the right moment, the tom leaped and felt the satisfying feel of warm flesh underneath his claws. He rolled with the rabbit still in his clutches, then quickly bit it's throat to kill it. He stood up and shook the ground debris from his auburn coat. "We work well together."

"Thanks," he replied, his eyes glowing with pleasure. He imagined to pleased looks he'd get when he brought the rabbit into the camp. "Your turn now," he meowed. "I'll flush out the next one."
"Hopefully we can find another one. Both the fox scent and our chase, not including my stumble, we probably scared most of the prey in this part of the territory. I suggest we look elsewhere." She suggested, sniffing the air.

"You're probably right," Cutthroat agreed. "It would do us no good to keep looking where the prey is not." He glanced over at Celestialglow and realized he was beginning to enjoy her company. He thought earlier that she was about to claw his ears off. "Maybe if we head north or west we'll find something. Why don't you lead the way?"
"Sure!" She raised her tail and padded along the well worn path made from many of her clanmates and ancestors until they arrived at the field. "There should be rabbits out here" she guessed, scanning the frozen field. "Unless they all took shelter. But ae can always check."

"I've caught a few rabbits here last season so I know there's some that live here," Cutthroat meowed. "Let's take a look." He moved silently out farther into the field and drew in some air. The coldness of it made him cough once. "I smell rabbit but I can't tell how fresh it is."
"I smell it too" she nodded, sniffing the air. "I think its a little stale. Must have been looking for breakfast earlier." She frowned as she looked up at the risen sun above them.

"Let's keep on looking," Cutthroat responded. "There's got to be some more around somewhere." He was determined to find another rabbit for Celestialglow's sake. He cast her a broad smile before stalking off in another direction. Heading into the way the air was flowing, it led him deeper into the field. Along the way he detected more stale scents but suddenly he smelled a fresher one. He stopped, his tail held ridged. "You smell that?" he whispered.
