Ferventprayer hadn't been the same.
Not since that day at the ceremony springs, the day that everything she had known came tumbling down around her. Her father had slashed her across the face while she pleaded for his life to be spared by her birth mother and the Sun God himself. The cat she had prayed for, and longed for his return had been here all along. The cat who had called her annoying and shut her down, when her father tried to pair them together. She was lost and confused....
Still life went on even though, she wished she could just retreat to the dark corners of camp and watch it go on. Now that her wound had been treated, she had little choice to start attending to her duties. Including training Watermelonpaw... Jadie
"Good morning, Ferventprayer! Your fur looks beautiful today. I'm so jealous, mine's paws-it-ively coarse and dull compared to yours," Watermelonpaw, chipper as ever, approached Fervenprayer. He had surprisingly quiet footsteps for a tom without any hunting training and carrier himself with the customary confidence that his father, Bloodycrow, had displayed; however... it was also leagues difference. Watermelonpaw was not conceited or cocksure, he was simply authentically himself.
The red-and-white tom smoothed down a loose tuft of fur on Ferventprayer's shoulder with a gentle lick then cocked his head at her, cute as can be. He had wicked lime green eyes that were as warm as they were striking, "What do you have in mind for us today?"

Ferventprayer looked up from her paws, as her younger 'brother' appeared. Despite her own reluctance and sadness, the young tom's bright enthusiasm was able to elicit a small smile from her. She honestly didn't know how he managed to keep himself so happy, he had lost his father to. Even if Bloodystar hadn't been as involved with his litter as he was with hers. She should be the one taking care of him, but she couldn't find the strength to do so.
As he tucked her fur into place she rose to her paws, touching his forehead with her nose for a moment "I was thinking we could go out for a quick hunting lesson while fetching some water to bring back to the sick cats in camp"
"Sounds like a good plan," Watermelonpaw nodded, rushing ahead of her a few steps before stopping to strecth. Evidently he had been sleeping not long before Ferventprayer had summoned him and was fighting back the desire to yawn, "The weather is nice today. Not too hot, not too cold. I'm sure the prey animals that stuck around are poking their noses out of their burrows, just waiting for a cat to come by and pull them out!"

"Let's pray that you are right" only to bite her bottom lip at her own comment. Knowing that Bravewolf was the Sun God, was still confusing. She had always been told that prayers and hard work could fix almost anything. But Bravewolf had grown up with her, he had heard her prayer, they had gone unanswered. It had far easier when she believed the Sun God was just gone and was waiting for him to return. She shook her head, following after Watermelonpaw as they left camp. She waited until they were quite far from camp to begin
"Okay," Watermelonpaw purred, opening his mouth to taste the air. There wasn't much to note at first. Mostly just dust and dirt and other desert things. After focusing, though, the red-and-white tom managed to narrow down his focus to something that wasn't just rodent, but rodent blood. It made his mouth water, "Over there!" He said, wasting no time to bound toward the scent in question.

The smell of blood caught her attention "be...." but the apprentice had already began to bound away forcing her to follow (Sorry its short but i don't know what you had planned XD)
(I got nothing planned really so you can go wild xD)
Watermelonpaw found his way to the source of the blood but didn't see any mice. He made sure to stay stealthy and silent, but still no prey showed up, and he frowned. Had he been mistaken?
"I don't think---" He said, turning around to face the direction Ferventprayer would be coming, when he heard a rattling sound... causing his heart to sink to the pit of his stomach. Wrapping around his hind leg was a huge rattlesnake with a big lump in its throat indicating it had just recent consuming a meal.

Ferventprayer was fear stricken for a few heartbeats, watching as the snake could it’s way around her brother/apprentice. Her first time training with him, and now he was knocking on death’s door if she couldn’t figure out some sort of solution. Her heart beat heavy in her chest, but one look into his eyes and she knew she had to do whatever she could to save him. She raced forward and pounced, aiming for it’s head which was the most dangerous part
Since the snake had just consumed a meal, its reactions were slow and sloppy. It hadn't been trying to attack Watermelonpaw anyway. All it was doing was seeking a warm and comfortable place to relax and the apprentice had been in the right place at the wrong time. Still, the movement of its new chair startled it, causing it to rattle and, well, the rest was history.
When Ferventprayer launched her attack the snake didn't dodge and instead tanked the blow then tried to vomit up its most recent meal for the sake of mobility. Watermelonpaw took advantage of the opportunity and not only freed himself but slammed his paw down on its upper back, pinning it, at least for the moment, "CUT OFF IT'S HEAD, SIS!"

Ferventprayer didn't hesitate, soon lifting up the snake with it's neck snapped in her jaws. She didn't quite take it's head off, but close enough. Though it continued to wiggle in her jaws. As it slowed she lowered it to the ground "Watermelonpaw" she rasped, her fur still standing on end from the whole situation "Never rush towards the scent of blood without figuring out why it's there first" she moved over to her brother licking behind his ears "Are you ok? Did it bite you?" she questioned, not stopping her hurried insepection
"No. I mean, yes, I'm okay, no, it didn't bite me," Watermelonpaw answered, releasing his grip on the serpent and taking a few cautionary steps away from it even though it was no longer a threat, "Oh well... all that ends well, I guess. I'll make sure I'm more careful next time I'm chasing blood. Anyways, I think this snake is plenty enough to feed more than a few cats, so how about we take this back and fabricate some really awesome story about how we tagged teamed to take this guy down?"

"We can do that if it's what you want to do" she kept one paw firmly on the snake "but first we should get out stories straight if you want everyone to believe it" (sorry about it being short XD)
