Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
An early heat wave had prey squirreled away in their burrows, warriors relaxing in the shade, and the rivers warmed by the new-leaf sun. It felt like only yesterday the territory was cloaked with bitter snows and freezing temperatures, but at the same time it was a distant memory, as well as everything that had transpired in SummerClan. Today, with the sky bright and beautiful and nothing to be done about hunting, Devotedcrow decided to summon the nearby clan members to the high hill. He still felt a little awkward holding meetings, but he smiled at each and every clanmate in turn, waiting for those curious enough to show up.
Pikepaw drowsily turned onto his other side to observe the gathering crowd, blinking sleep out his eyes and slowly stretching himself to a stand. He wasn't sure what the Deputy had in store for today, but he figured he wasn't doing anything better so he might as well join in.
Quiet Ashenkit hovered nearby, her dusky tail wrapped around her small white paws. Devotedcrow hadn't explicitly forbade kits from being involved, but he hadn't called for them either, so she settled on just staying close enough to listen for now.
As more cats began to show, the midnight tom cleared his throat to draw their eyes back to him. "Thanks for coming, guys. I know it's hot out today and we're all trying to lay low, so I thought we might take a trip to the river out in the Deep Lands. It's shady and cool with all the tree cover and close enough that it won't take too long to get there. I was thinking a few of us that are stronger swimmers can give some lessons to everyone else. I'd like us to all be more comfortable with the water." Though it was clear he was in no shortage of muscle, his short pelt hugging his lean frame, everyone knew of the tom's bad leg and how it made hunting and fighting harder. In the water was where Devotedcrow felt most comfortable-- and using the bodies of water to their advantage was something he planned on making more commonplace in the clan. He glanced around, gauging the reaction of those present.
(Anyone can join in with a character of any age! I'll wait for a few responses before getting it started! Also I decided to tag everyone, don't mind me; you don't have to reply!)

Chimeramask wouldn't hesitate to jump headfirst into the river. If it wasn't so hot out. The tortoiseshell tom had splayed himself out on his belly next to Pikepaw, his limbs stretched haphazardly around him as he let out a sigh.
"Hot would be an understatement, dad." The warrior grumbled, as his tail flicked lazily behind him. "Are you sure we're still in Summerclan territory? Almost feels like we landed directly on the sun. Pikepaw, be a bro... cut off all my fur before I pass out from the heat..." he said dramatically, rolling onto his side and lifting a paw into the air.
"Better yet, just drag me to the river and throw me in. I'll volunteer as the first tribute to be dunked into the river. Just call me Chimeramask the fish..."

"It does sound like a good idea." Fawnhysteria chirped up. He was no stranger to how hot it was getting here, though his long coat tended to fall flat, making it appear shorter than it really was. Though he really only enjoyed the heat when Dovegarden made him, his recent session left him with a bit of a sunburn on his stomach. And the thought of cooling it in the river sounded like heaven to the calico tom.

Once Skycloud heard there's a swimming party of sorts he was all in. He always found an opportunity to take a dip especially on hot days. "Count me in!" he meowed cheerfully.
Crowkit wandered over because he saw a crowd gathering and wondered what was going on. Upon spying his sister listening in, he went over and sat down next to her. "What's going on?" he asked. He was curious why the deputy had called this meeting. "Are we being invaded?"
Fielding sat at the edge of the makeshift clearing Devotedcrow had chosen for this round of morning’s annoyances. Would there ever be a day again that she could sleep without his voice in her ear? If she could roll her eyes any harder, she would. Yes, she was a SummerClan warrior and that was a chosen occupation, as much as many would like to beg to differ, but that didn’t mean she’d be willing to play along with his charade.
“Am I the only one thinking a clan that’s chosen their home next to a large body of water would make this part of the training curriculum for their apprentices? Why is this necessary?” She drawled.
"Well, Fielding, am I the only one thinking you should shut the flip up?" Vixenkit said, rude as ever. "I want to learn to swim! I heard somewhere that the forest is getting hotter moon by moon because...Oceankit, what the hell were you talking about the other day?"
"The ice caps melting," Oceankit answered extremely patiently, "but that was actually just a dream I had, not anything happening in real life. You have nothing to worry about. I think."
Frostedkit pranced happily after Crowkit, curious to see what all the commotion was about. “What’s going on?” She whispered to her brother looking at all the warriors around her. She hadn’t seen this many cats together at once, ever. She recognized Oceankit from the other day, because he wasn’t sure if he should save the beetle or not. “Ice cap? What’s an ice cap?” biyuu ☆彡Whitemuzzle
Yarn, now known as Yarntangle, came out to see all the chaos as well. She was relatively new to the clan, so she hadn’t seen a gathering like this yet. “Yall dunno how to swim?” She asked, more so to herself than anything. Not like she had very much experience either.
Pikepaw's ears twitched at Chimeramask's dramatics and he grinned a sloppy, lopsided grin. "If you say so," he snickered, flicking out a claw and moving closer to do as he was instructed, but before he could hook a claw into the calico's pelt, Crow moved between them and fixed the apprentice with a hard, mostly teasing, stare.
"You'll be able to cool off soon enough," he told his adopted son, then nodded to Fawnhysteria and Skycloud, happy his idea was garnering some positive feedback. From everyone except Fielding, of course, who received a sigh from the lean tom. "It's not necessary, it's voluntary," he patiently explained. "Swimming and fishing are encouraged during training, but it never hurts to have days like this to assess where everyone's at. Besides, it'll be fun. Now," Crow turned to address everyone together, "we'll travel in a small group with all the kits in the center. Let's head out."
"No, it looks like we're going on a trip," Ashenkit answered Crowkit, nudging his shoulder and gesturing to where the older cats were beckoning all the kits into a group. Her ears perked at the exchange between Oceankit and Frostedkit. "Where does all the water go when the ice melts?" She wondered aloud.
The group made good time, arriving at the river comfortably before sun-high, which meant there was plenty of time to play in the water before it got sweltering hot. Crow was surprised to find the riverside to be already occupied by a sleeping Satinshore, who snorted as the clamor startled her out of her nap. "Wha...?" She couldn't even finish before wave after wave of water was splashed across her tussled pelt as one cat after another plunged into the water.

"An ice cap is somethin' you wear on your head when it's hot," Crowkit told Frostedkit with a know-it-all look in his eyes. "And when it melts the water runs down your fur," he added to Ashenkit. He felt smart giving such good answers to his sisters. "Hey look! There's the river!" He was so happy the kits were allowed to join in on this outing. He had bounced most of the way there.
"Sorry Satinshore," Skycloud meowed apologetically after jumping into the water. He had turned back and was looking at the disturbed she cat. Refreshing water ran off his head while the rest of his body remained submerged.
"That's not--sure, whatever," Oceankit said to Crowkit, giving up on correcting him. The river looked deep and inviting, even if Oceankit didn't know how to swim. He wondered briefly if there was any difference between swimming in a river and swimming in an ocean. One was a lot bigger than the other, so maybe swimming in an ocean was a lot more tiring? But what if the longest river in the world had more water in it than the biggest ocean in the world? Which was cooler, oceans or rivers? "Guys, would you still like me if I was called Riverkit?" he asked.
"We don't like you now, idiot," Vixenkit muttered. "Ha! Look at that moron Satinshire getting all wet and stuff. Serves you right, lazybones!!!"
biyuu ☆彡 Fieding's gaze landed on the kit as she sniped back at her. Part of her would be annoyed, a deeper part of her would be furious at the show of insubordination, but mostly she was simply impressed that the kit had thought it wise – or perhaps had a long enough lapse in judgment to not think on consequences at all – to have opened her mouth against the warrior. Chuckling darkly, she padded over and rested a paw on top of the kit's head, light enough to be seen as merely playful, heavy enough to serve as a warning. "If you want to learn to swim, I'd love to teach you."

"I think Id still like you, Oceankit," peeped up Wildkit from behind her brother. She had been silent on the way to the river, taking in everything she could with wide eyes, "Or should we call you Riverkit?" she asked, tipping her head in question. She drug her paw along the ground, averting her eyes shyly as she mumbled, "We like you too, hes just being mean," mostly to herself.
Daydreamer had plodded along with the rest, but had found himself a nice little spot to sun himself rather than slip into the cool water. He wasnt keen on chilling himself just yet, but listening to the banter of his clanmates provided plenty of entertainment.

As they walked down to the shore, Fawnhysteria fell into line next to Yarntangle. Hearing her question more to herself than him, he ended up answering. "Well. A lot of the rivers and whatnot have bridges or shallower parts cats can walk across. And a lot of cats just don't like the water." Even though he said this normally, he leaned in towards her and whispered, "but yeah it is a little weird." Fawnhysteria laughed. seeker
"You are so rude sometimes," Crownedkit huffed to Vixenkit, the little tuxedo tom proudly marching ahead of the other kits after his father, only hesitating once his toes touched the water's edge. While learning how to swim and cooling off from the heat sounded fun, since Devotedcrow's announcement Crownedkit had fretted over how many stories he had told to his siblings and denmates about already knowing how to swim; the tale where he caught the monster fish a minnow in a puddle, the one where he saved Weevilpaw from drowning also in a puddle. He stared down at his reflection in the water, before glancing over his shoulder at the other kits. "So...uh...who wants to go first? I certainly can't; I...uh...have to keep watch, in case anyone needs help!" biyuu ☆彡Whitemuzzle
"Oh you have it so bad," Weevilpaw snarked back to Chimeramask, groaning beneath his thick, fluffy squirrel's-nest of a pelt. The leader's son had tried everything to help cool off; even directly wringing out wet moss onto his back, but his fur just absorbed the moss and now it was all tangled and even warmer than before. "Pikepaw, be a pal and just...drag me into the water, would ya? Don't worry, my felt keeps me buoyant: I'll float like a leaf." woofNova
“Oooh.” Frostedkit nods, her brother’s words not making much sense to her, but she was willing to go along with it to save his feelings. The look on Oceankit’s face said that he wasn’t correct. The little kitten gently prods oceankit in the shoulder. “What’s an icecap?” She whispers, soft enough no one else would hear. She was genuinely curious what it was. biyuu ☆彡
Yarntangle grins, feeling slightly amused at the tom’s answer. “I didn’t know ‘bout the bridges. Is there one for this one too?” Her hazel eyes look at the water, and she could feel it almost drowning her even though she hadn’t stepped in yet. “You know how to swim?” strawberrycupid
Hippos are most comfortable in the water, so naturally, Hippokit was floating languidly down the river, his bulbous body like a floatation device. His mother had given him swimming lessons since before he could remember, so he made sure to show off his skills to the other kittens. He bobbed his head in and out of the water, wagged his drenched tail, and even tried a flip. He shot a proud smirk at Ashenkit, Oceankit, Vixenkit, Frostedkit, Crowkit, and Wildkit, who looked hesitant on the shore.

"There's not that many around here. I guess the ones that are still standing are pretty rickety. Besides, we may as well learn since it's a lot more convenient to just swim rather than beat around the riverbed." Fawnhysteria's paws slipped into the cool water. There wasn't much better than a cooling swim after a hot day or a fit of passion. Though when he swam then, his clanmates were always concerned about the amount of blood. "Oh yeah." He said with a smile. "I'm from Swiftclan. We travel around a lot so you gotta know how to swim and stuff. What about you? How did you learn?" seeker
"Swiftclan?" Yarntangle asks curiously, hesitantly making her way to the shore where Fawnhysteria had gone in. There wasn't any denying that the cool water on a hot day was wonderful, but she was definitely worried about swimming in the current. She waded until the water rushed along her stomach fur, deciding to stay there until further instruction. "Oh," she laughs, a bit embarrassed. "I'm from what y'all call the twoleg place. I used to swim in a pool with the human that owned me. Never had any current before though." strawberrycupid
"Oh." Ashenkit wasn't as confident in Crowkit's explanation, especially not when Oceankit started to object to it, but before she could ask, her attention was swiped by the sight of Hippokit leisurely floating in the river flow. "Hey Hippokit! How are you doing that?" Her own dense tangle of dusky fur felt like it would be more like an anchor, submerging her beneath the water, but she did set two apprehensive paws into the river, debating whether or not to take the plunge and join her friend. bauble
Pikepaw's smirked at the exchange between his best friend and step-brother. "You two are needy. Why don't you help each other into the river instead? I'll be waiting," he teased, bouncing to the river and diving in. Though long-furred, his pelt was sleek and well-kept, water rolling off it like it would off duck feathers. He splashed his paws at the other two toms, beckoning them over. NovaGidgetGal
Crow's fatherly instinct kicked in as he noticed Crownedkit's hesitance, knowing he had a knack for talltales that were often larger than life, and padded across to nudge his son and offer a conspiratorial grin. "Alrighty, Crownedkit and I will be giving lessons in the shallow part right here for those of you who don't know how to swim," he said to the rest of the group. "Okay Captain Crownedkit, all I have to do is kick my legs back and forth to stay afloat, right? Like this?" He demonstrated, then looked back at Crownedkit. GidgetGal also @all the kits
A now-soaked Satinshore grumbled at the newfound attention she garnered, which was unwelcome considering her sorry state of drenched, limp fur that held no torch to its usually plush, soft appearance. She sauntered over to take a seat in the sun beside Daydreamer, stretching out beside him and leaning into his drier, warmer pelt. "Now this is the life," purred the sandy feline. complacentdevil

"Oh yeah. It's like, the newest clan. A bunch of clans got wiped out in like a flood or something, so some of them came together to make a new clan." Granted, some of the others had came to the mountain clans. He was sure there were even a few here in Summerclan, but Fawnhysteria had no idea who they could be. He came up next to Yarntangle, letting his limbs slowly begin to float with the current. He was overly gangly though, and didn't move very far. "I'm the opposite, I'm used to swimming in some sort of current so not having one would be odd." He said with a dry laugh. "It's not that bad." seeker
