Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
In the middle of the night a tiny fluff of fur had taken another fluff of fur, a kit and darted out of camp. She had plainly kidnapped the kit without much rhyme or reason to it. It appeared the only motive was for the thrill of the chase. Many ran after the cat, but many also lost track. Glowstar however kept on the felines heels, but when a thunderstorm came she got lost from the cat and her scent and found herself in SummerClan territory. She knew the cat that kidnapped the kit was from the league, not by scent, but by more than acquaintance. Still she was unfamiliar with SummerClan and uncertain of where Primal Instinct was in comparison of it. Desperate to find the kitten she ignored the respectful thing to do which was waiting around for a patrol to help her and pressed on. This was a time sensitive matter, she couldn't wait around and do the polite warrior clan thing or whatever. But once again was still a bit turned about searching for Primal Instincts border in an unfamiliar place.
Embercloud had been out in the territory checking on things when she came across the scent of a DayClan cat over the border. She followed the trail until she came across Glowstar, who she didn't recognize as a leader. "What are you doing on SummerClan territory?" she demanded hotly.
"Okay so this cat that looks like a kittypet kitten, but is actually a highly trained ex proxy operative of the league. She took my kit and just raced off with him so I gotta go after him, but... I don't know which way the league is in this weather and I've never been in SummerClan before so I'm a bit turned around. I need to find Shadowkit and I know it's in the warrior code that kits are all equal (or something) so please help me?" Glowstar asked.
Her eyes were almost like puppy dogs the way she tilted her head, looking for an in.
The dark ginger she-cat looked at her with some disbelief. "I guess that's a believable reason but it would have been better for you to wait to ask permission before just intruding. Froststar would have been happy to let you through and even give you some help."
"There's no time, I already lost the poor guy and it's cold out and raining. You're the only cat around, will you help?" Glowstar asked, but already began walking in a direction that she had no way of knowing if it was even the right direction or not.
Embercloud stopped for a moment to process what she had said before making up her mind to accompany the she-cat. "I'll go with you although I don't know how much help I'd be finding Primal Instinct from here above ground." she offered, trotting to catch up with Glowstar. "I'm Embercloud." she introduced herself.
"I'm Glowstar of DayClan," She glanced about, "If you know an underground direction better I'll follow you, I used to be a Regime cat in my youth so it's not too much of an unfamiliar setting for me."
She walked over to Embercloud's side and nodded to her, "Guide me as far as you can to the border, please. In whatever way is best and most timely for us. And remember, the kidnapper looked like a kittypet, pink bow, small body. Not the typical profile you'd expect."
"I know the tunnels a little better than above ground but not the full way to where we're going." Embercloud admitted. She was a little surprised that a Clan leader had come all the way out here on her own just to find one kit but she wasn't going to question the other she-cat's decision either.
"If you're more familiar with the tunnels than most Clan cats that'll be a nice help, most cats start getting scared out of their wits with being in the tunnels after a short while." Embercloud decided not to mention just why she was so familiar with the tunnels herself since most of the other clans weren't very familiar with SummerClan's allies and their existence.
"I mean... I didn't say that, but I'm not a full on claustrophobic either. More like I'm not a fan of eternal darkness, but this isn't forever and this is for a kit. So if you got some tunnel that'll help us get there in anyway faster or just get us going I'll go there. I mean honestly if you told me I had to leap across rivers of lava to get there faster I would so, whatever it takes," Glowstar settled with a gaze as gentle as feathers.
She'd have to trust Embercloud on this one. Even though she found it odd that they were apparently cats that knew tunnels, but then again in DayClan Barleystar had discovered the tunnels and a few cats knew how to use them. Though now she and Rubyflame were probably the few and only cats to know how to navigate them.
"I haven't run across any rivers of lava around here so you don't have to worry about that." Embercloud said with a laugh. As they were walking along she had been scanning the area around them before finally stopping and started scenting along the ground, seeming to be looking for something before finally coming to a stop at the base of a large oak tree whose roots were mostly exposed to the air with a gap between them big enough for a cat to squeeze through.
"Here's a tunnel entrance, hasn't been used in a while but I knew there was one around here somewhere." she said.
For a moment she peered inside wondering if this was a murder den and if it was if she had time to play along with such a game. But she didn't, so she'd have to for once in her life hope this wans't a murder den, "Sounds great," Glowstar said.
Glowstar's auburn pelt moved past Embercloud and not too elegantly squeezed her entire tall body through. Although skinny enough to fit through any narrow passage ways she was still tall and made sure to keep her head ducked down. She side stepped a bit to allow Embercloud to move into the tunnel.
Embercloud slipped in behind her more easily since she was smaller in size than the DayClan leader and when she moved over to give her space she slipped past and lead the way down the tunnel. It started out fairly low and narrow with a gradual downwards slope and got more and more dark before suddenly widening out into a huge cavern that somehow had light filtering in from somewhere, that while still quite dim made it possible to make out the basic details of where they were. Multiple tunnels lead off in almost all directions both along the bottom and higher up with paths that that made them accessible and the scent of cats was heavily present meaning it was generally a well trafficked area. It was clear that someone had made some improvements in the area to make it more passable with rocks and dirt making ramps to higher tunnels.
"Forgot that's where that tunnel came to, guess I've been chilling in SummerClan for too long." Embercloud muttered, more to herself than the she-cat she was accompanying.
"What!? You mean you don't know where we're at?" Glowstar shouted, more than asked.
As she said it she already darting up to one of the higher tunnels and licked the top of the ceiling to see if it was dry or wet. Typically the league had pretty hardened ground, especially where they were living now. Even with the rain, this deep underground it should be stiff, "Okay um, let's go to higher ground, the dirt's pretty stiff here so we're probably close enough to make out the border if there is one nearby."
"I never said I don't know where we are, can't you tell how heavily trafficked this place is. Just haven't used that specific entrance tunnel in several moons and haven't been able to do much of usual tunnel patrolling. I'm not usually a warrior of SummerClan but I've stuck around longer than I normally would because I was asked to by Froststar and my own leader."
She watched with ill hid amusement as Glowstar frantically sniffed at the ceiling of the cave. "Don't worry about that I know where we are. Get down from there and come with me." she said. The dark ginger tabby headed for one of the lower tunnel entrances that showed fewer signs of cats having passed through it but Embercloud strode forward confidently.
Glowstar took a breath. Usually she would follow Embercloud at a leisurely pace and not concern herself with if or when they'd find the kitten because she had faith that things would work out. But it was her own kit and not only that, but she had two of her own kittens kidnapped in the past who were tortured and beaten beyond recognition, she never even saw them again until they were into adulthood. The thought that such a thing could happen again was causing her to panic. Because everything she already knew to be true was true. She had no control except for herself and currently she wasn't capable of tracking, she had to put all of her faith into Embercloud that she could guide the way and that she would be able to see her kitten again and at the very least not beaten and tormented like before. She had taken so much precaution to ensure that would never happen again, she wasn't even apart of the league or had as many enemies as she used to.
"Okay, you're right," She said with a sheepish smile climbing down back over to Embercloud's side, "Go ahead. I'm just worried. I lost two kits in the past to kidnappers and everything that went wrong to them is just flashing through my mind. That and... I often think that anything that happens to my kits is karma. I used to be like her, kidnapping kits from families, that's just how I was raised in the league. But now I'm just worried she'll get away with it like how I did back in the day."
"I didn't realize they were your kits. I apologize." Embercloud said genuinely horrified by what the leader had said. "Like I said I'm not very familiar with how to get to Primal Instinct since it was decided a long time ago that they were too dangerous to try and spy on unless something happened that required it." she said.
"Well. try your best, I doubt she'll eat him, but you just can't be sure with cats like her. I don't want my son to be a tasty snack is all I'm saying, but I think I would have been lost without you so whatever you're capable of doing I'll be grateful for," Glowstar said with a respectful bow of her head.
