Ferventprayer’s wound didn’t seem deep in the outside. A scratch mark extending from her left ear, over here left eye, and nose, down to her cheek. Give me everything that had happened it was a rather minor injury. But the wound extended far beyond the surface, down to her soul. It wasn’t just any cat that has hurt her, but her father. The cat she had looked up to and adored. The cat she pleaded for the Sun God to spare, even as he pushed her away. It hurt on a different level than even when he called her out in front of the clan for mourning her sister, or the time he told her that she had failed him. It was a very different kind of pain.
She hadn’t said much since that day, retreating inwards in a feeble attempt at protecting herself from the truth of it all. It was all to much to process. The loss of Bloodystar, Bravepaw being the sun god, the return of her birth parents. So instead she threw herself into the mindless work of hunting, repairing the camp, gathering herbs, anything to keep from being alone with her thoughts.Jetclaw
Tenebrousrequiem did his best to stay by Ferventprayer's side as much as she'd allow him to. After all he'd been willing to go on the attack against Bloodystar for her.
But he knew deep down what she needed more than a strong cat to fight and protect her, she needed support. Now more than ever.
"Well, I'd say we've done a good bit of work, what say we take a break, share a bird?" Tenebrousrequiem asked as they set down their catches. The pile was still meager and the struggle was real in this land recovering from the fire, volcano, and just, everything. It felt like everything was recovering from Bloodycrow's reign. The land itself still shuddering with the after effects. Along with whatever other dark force that Littlestar had been hinting at.

Normally she would have insisted upon giving the food to someone else, but Ferventprayer had already skipped breakfast. As one of the few cats still able to go out hunting and patrolling, it was important that they kept their strength up, or it wouldn’t be good for anyone. Reluctantly she agreed, her paws sore from the scorched earth that the tree upon. The scent of smoke filled her nose, coating it to the way ash covered everything here. Most of the prey animals had fled after the explosion, leaving only the weakest that could flee left for them to hunt.
Ferventprayer nodded meekly settling down beside of her mate and leaning into his warmth. He was never to far from her side, but hadn’t pushed her to talk about everything and giving her the space she needed to decompress. She let her nose touch his cheek “I don’t say this enough, but thank you” she kept her voice kind of quiet, knowing what she wanted to ask him but having to find the courage to do so. She knew what she needed to do to find some closure, but she wasn’t sure that she could do it on her own. To face her birth parents, to try and understand why they had abandoned her and her siblings. When she saw Littlestar and Skipstep, it triggered a memory that had long since been suppressed. Her mother bleeding, while Skipstep pulled them close so that they couldn’t see what was happening. Then being dragged out from underneath him screaming, while Skipstep fought to fleet to them. it was the last time she had seen them, before being dragged to their sister Jetfire to raise alongside Bloodystar.
“I... I remembered something, about my birth parents.... “ she refused to call either of them her mom or dad even now “I don’t understand it... but I think the only way to find out is to talk to them”
