Vixenkismet was casually walking with Glowstar along the beach of Cherry Cove, just barely beyond where the waters could reach. She turned her head slightly to the side, giving the leader a gentle kiss on the cheek. It was late, the sun casting reds, pinks, and golds over the scene, the pair's long shadows stretching to meet the water's edge. A peaceful evening. If not for the topic of conversation, it might even have been happy. But the former Priestess seemed to want to turn the conversation to a particular matter as she spoke. "How are you faring, losing Fia? I heard the Immortal Council position is left empty with her absence."
The fox furred feline's gaze rested on Green, her expression looking more concerned for her mate than anything. While Foxbane herself couldn't really have cared less about Fia, she knew Glowstar cared about her granddaughter, and the loss would be hard, and she felt for the DayClan leader's pain if nothing else.
"Numbing," She said, closing her eyes as she tried to find the right word, "Unreal," She decided on looking back into Foxbane's eyes with a loving expression, but it didn't hold the same overpowering look that it normally had. "If it had been Azura, a kit not of my blood, I'd never forgive myself for sending her on that mission. But like any Eerie she would never have wanted to live a careful life for a return of a further death. I guess it just feels unreal because she reminded me of myself at that age. So wild and free that not even death could keep me. I guess I thought it would be the same for her. I still can't believe it happened, but it will pass. Unfortunately when you grow up killing for a living it numbs you to the future of humanity."
Glowstar withdrew a breath before smiling at her mate, this time the light returning back to her eyes, "Thanks Foxy, I needed that." She said more quietly bumping into Foxbane's side playfully.

Fox's tail brushed gently down Glowstar's back, nodding slightly. The Eeries always seemed unkillable. Even when she'd killed Green, well, Green just got right back up afterward. Even when Foxbane had thought her dead, here she was, returned again, alive. It was hard to consider Fia dead without the body in her own possession as proof, but she also wasn't going to tell her mate to have potentially false hope in the feline's return. "You're not wrong." She agreed. After all, how many had Vixenkismet killed? And despite the levels of regret in some aspects, she was still numb to much of it, including killing her own child at one point. It was easy to write off death, and it was only through conscious effort that she still cared for those close to her heart, despite the pain of it at times.
"I'm always here for you, you need only call for me." She purred, offering a slight smile. "Do you know who you're going to fill in the Immortal Council with, if you're okay talking about it. I'm sure Burningsummer and Tigerlily would be hoping for it, since they're the ones Goldenphantom picked." Naturally, she was curious, but she also understood that Glowstar might not be ready, and so she waited for the feline to respond before adding in anything else, in case she asked for unrelated conversation, considering why the position was now vacant.
Glowstar tipped her head back thoughtfully, "I was thinking of Rubyflame, at least while I think. Are you interested, in the position Foxy?" Her playful tone at first made it sound like she was joking, but the fading blue, washing into green hues in her serious expression suggested otherwise. Foxbane had mentioned it twice now, which meant that she had her own thoughts on the topic, likely wanting to push someone without being pushy. But the names her mate listed weren't people Foxbane was close to or individuals she felt she believed in. Which meant she might be curious of it for herself so there was no point in beating around the question.

Foxbane really should just have been blunt about it. Glowstar could read her intentions easy enough, there wasn't any reason to dodge around it, and the she-cat laughed slightly at the fact she thought she had been at all stealthy. "I'm not so sure that's a surprise, me, interested in power." She commented, though for a few moments after, she left it to silence, seeming almost, hesitant? But obviously, trying to tone it down wouldn't fly with the leader, so she abandoned the notion entirely. "Of course I want it. I miss that sort of power. The simple desire for power is as much a motivator as being able to actively help at your side, I want to help DayClan to be the place you envision it."
Once again the fox furred she-cat fell to silence, contemplating her next words. "But I'm not so sure that I have a right to really ask for that sort of consideration. It's not exactly a secret the things I've done, and that alone is a worthy disqualifier, no matter how much I want something. And I'm not willing to destroy us simply to fill a particular desire of mine, I value you and your desires for DayClan too much to tear that down." It was why she'd been content as Medicine Cat of DayClan under Goldenstar, but hadn't so much as lifted a paw in complaint when Glowstar reinstated Brakewings' position. In the past she'd have killed to keep that kind of influence, now, her personal desires were nothing compared to the devotion she had to Glowstar.
Glowstar had stopped walking along the sandy shores, looking more closely at Foxbane, certain of it now, "You were in a higher standing power in SunClan, then you lost a lot of it all at once. You had to be vulnerable when you asked me out, then I didn't trust you. And then when I did the DayClan imperials determined you would be placed as a Maverick. You definitely deserve a lot more slack. Honestly I..." Her cheeks blushed slightly, "Always thought it could be fun if we were Glowstar and Foxstar again, but in unity for DayClan. I couldn't ever mention it at the time for obvious reasons, but now DayClan's really warmed up to you."
Glowstar met Foxbane's gaze, the fading sun turning her eyes back to green slowly, "When I took leadership of DayClan, I tried to trade it away to Primal Instinct for my old position back. Luckily Lazarus E'tan was an idiot and thought I was lying. But I've always felt so immensely guilty for ever thinking I should trade away DayClan and the lives in it. Rather than step down in shame I decided that my life wouldn't be entirely my own. Instead my life would be devoted to keeping this a safe haven. You've wronged DayClan and the members in it in many unforgivable ways, but if you seek power to preserve its wonder from wolves like ourselves, I'll say yes."

She had to bite back the instant 'Yes' from escaping, bearing down so hard on her tongue she could taste the blood, but refused to let up until she was certain that she wouldn't just instantly agree. Not for not wanting to, that much was obvious if her previous statements were something to go by. The sting in her mouth she would definitely feel later, and the coppery tang kept her silent for a few moments, allowing to to actually register Glowstar's words and think on them. How she wanted to be Foxstar and Glowstar. With that future in front of her, she wanted it more than anything else she could think of at this current moment in time. As if water was kept just out of reach and she were dying of thirst, and all she had to do was take a step and then drink.
Vixenkismet stopped where she stood. She couldn't walk and think at this moment. In fact, she could barely think past the swirling ideas of the future, and rush of emotion that weighed on her soul, comforting, thrilling, but heavy nonetheless. Her heart raced, and she sort of stared into Glowstar's eyes blankly, taking a deep breath in what was probably a vain attempt to calm down. Strange. Usually this wasn't a problem for her.
The ivy eyed ex-Priestess sat down hard. "I want that. I want it so much it hurts to think about." She replied, almost dreamily. "But, am I really capable of doing that, of being that for DayClan?" One couldn't be entirely sure if she was talking more to herself or Glowtar in that moment. This was different than being leader of SunClan, than being the temporary medicine cat of DayClan. Everything about this felt bigger, more real, and entirely more dangerous. There were many visions of the future she had in mind with herself, Glowstar, and Funk. Many that had been dashed and then raised anew with her mate's disappearance and return. Them leading together wasn't something she hadn't considered, though all versions had herself returning to SunClan, not leading DayClan alongside Glowstar. She hadn't expected, either, for this idea to hit her as hard as it did.
"I don't know, but I'm not afraid to find out," Glowstar said placing a paw over hers, "Be a member of the Immortal Council and then we'll know for sure."
(It's late so my reply is short, but I wanna cement Glowstar's answer! Plus I got the second vaccine today so I feel I won't in the right head space to give a better reply tomorrow either so we're sticking with this one xD)

Glowstar's touch was electric, and Foxbane found herself lost in the leader's eyes, forgetting for a moment, what they were talking about, and simply seeing the cat she had at her side for an eternity. With a soft purr, she leaned into the she-cat, laughing a bit, the sound as light as if she were walking on air. For so long in her life she'd shunned the pain, and with, the happiness she could have felt. Since stepping down, she felt all of the pain, but the moments of bliss were few and far between. But in this moment, it felt as though she were light like a feather, and that the harshest realities of what were to come were nothing in comparison to this happiness, even if she understood this moment couldn't last forever. As though she were breathing for the first time in ever, and everything that had come before had been her drowning without knowing it. "In that case, how can I refuse?"
