Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The mostly white Spy wasn't exactly the sort you wanted to deal with. At least, not generally. Gossamer Alessandra and Kaisra's daughter was well, notoriously bratty at times. She tended to figure out how to get her way, one way or other. In some ways, she was like her aunt Zakiyyah, both having been or currently a Spy, cunning, things of that sort. Zakiyyah never did have Arei's superiority complex, however.
She practically pranced around headquarters, not so subtly listening on whatever conversations interested her. Not many were willing to tell her off, either. She was spy, it was her job, after all. Not that it made her intrusions any less annoying.

"You look well," meowed a voice from behind her. Her gaze was focused on her daughter, her lips fighting the urge to twitch. Gossamer Alessandra had been as good as dead for the majority of the last year. As suddenly as she had entered the Regime, she had disappeared in a bloody mist. Perhaps it hasn't been the kindest thing for Goss to do, let her entire family believe that she was dead, but sometimes, things happened and you had to do what you needed to do to protect those that you cared about. Kaisra, she was sure, would not understand. She was sure her daughter wouldn't, either. Yet, enough time had passed that it was once again safe for her to enter the tunnels.
"I have to say, it was harder to find you all than I anticipated. How long have you... been here?" She glanced around to the DayClan tunnels. "An odd choice, but not unsurprising knowing my former superior."
Despite the fact Arei had still been a tyke when Goss had left, she knew that scent, that voice anywhere. In the time between when the former Commander had disappeared, and suddenly shown up like nothing had changed, Arei had grown up. No longer was she the scrappy little brat she'd been as a kit. There was a dangerous gleam to her eyes, and she stood tall and probably far too proud for her own good. Witty, and willing to take what she wanted. She turned around slowly, and if she'd been human, Arei would have been standing, arms crossed, dramatic as ever. As it was, her eyes flitted up and down the she-cat whom she'd called her mother, and she gave a slight 'humph' as if annoyed by her presence. "So that's it, huh? Disappear and then show up at your leisure?"

"That's how it happens, peach. Life's too short to be confined to a world not your own." That wasn't exactly what happened. Although it was likely that there was at least a little part of Goss that had wanted to leave, it had been mostly circumstantial. Her past had caught up to her, which had made her dangerous. Whether or not her family wanted to believe it, she had left for a reason. Her tail flicked slightly, eyeing her daughter up. There was a part of Gossamer Alessandra that was uncomfortable looking at her daughter. Although she'd never been particularly maternal, there was a part of her that had missed watching her litter grow. "I see that despite all your growth, your attitude hasn't changed," she then meowed, a half smile parting her lips.
Arei sniffed slightly. "Could've at least warned me and mom you know, mama." The Spy huffed. "You missed my promotion ceremony, I'm a Spy now." A half smile reminiscent of the one Goss greeted her with crossed her face, as she leaned in slightly. "I have LOTS of things to tell you, you know. Did you know grandma Shule and grandpa Sean just barely decided to not divorce?" Her voice was a conspiratorial whisper, pretense of anger dropping right quick once she'd gotten over it. It was FAR more fun to let her mother in on all the little secrets. "Mom moved to DayClan too, wanted to talk to grandma Glowstar and fix things and such. You missed a lot of drama."

"I apologize for that," she meowed with a nod, her voice sounding genuine. "There are things in the world that you would not have understood at the time. I'm not sure you would understand now," she meowed with a slight cough. She then smiled widely at her daughter's announcement. "You were always the smartest of the litter," she meowed with a wink, before leaning in to offer her daughter an affectionate lick on her forehead. "Congratulations, Arei. You deserve your success."
She tapped her feet in excitement as Arei filled her in on the gossip. That was the one thing that she had missed; the chaos that insued when cats lived in masses together. There was always a conflict, one that Gossamer Alessandra was very interested in inserting herself into. "Good ol' Grandma Shule. Honestly, between you and me, I'm not surprised. Still not entirely sure how the two of them even talk to each other sometimes, but hey." She let out a laugh, before her head tilted slightly....
"Mom isn't here anymore?" There was a slight disappointment in her voice. Sure, they were quite literally under DayClan, but it seemed like a distance away she wasn't comfortable with, at least not while she was here. She wasn't sure how long she would be in the neighborhood, but she needed to see her. Gossamer had no preconception that anything that she would say would fix what she had done, but she at least needed to make sure she was alright. "Interested in taking a little field trip to get out of these nasty tunnels? That's the one thing I don't miss, all the dirt in my fur," she meowed with a shudder. "You could fill me in on the rest as we walk?"

"Try me." Arei dared, already skipping ahead to take her mama to see her mom in DayClan. "There's so much to go over. Oh, Zakiyyah, Kotori, and Dusky are all in this new bootcamp dirt grandma started, funny how all of the Commanders kits ended up there besides mom, right? Especially the one who killed lots of cats, and the other one who just, y'know, was like, a Superior equivalent in SunClan because uncle Dusky's friend became a tyrant and took over. Oh, and you missed the blizzard that trapped us underground for a few months so we almost starved. Uhh, grandma Shule made everyone who is capable, except chosen cats, Scout now. Got rid of Raisers and made them a subset of this new rank called Auxiliary which is where all the failures who can't be Scouts, Mercenaries, or Guiders get pushed and they do our trap making or raising kits. Grandpa Sean is the Origin Superior now, which replaced Raiser Superior! Basically the same thing, but now he plays matchmaker." There was a lot to cover, and Arei was quite good at blabbing about it, seeming rather excited to be able to dump all this information on someone who didn't know it all.
"Grandma Glowstar is getting married to Foxbane and Funk, WinterClan stole one of Glowstar and Lex's kits, Bluejay, and abused them cause she caused them demons. Both grandmas were angry about that, and Senescence was pretty angry, cause Wintrystar is mates with Sen's son Alvah now. Now on of those 'demons' is our Guider Superior! Some descendants of the Blind Protector's sister also showed up, the Starkfields. Symphorosa is one of these Starkfields, and Mercenary Superior. Nottingham Needletoes is Scout Superior, and Braelynn Kinsley is Chaman. We only have four Sentinels total now." She chatted all the way through to DayClan that it probably felt they hit the surface in no time as Arei filled her in on absolutely all the gossip she could think of.

"When we see your mom, maybe I will fill you both in then on what I have been up to these last few moons," she meowed. She figured she owed Kaisra an answer perhaps even more than Arei, so she might as well kill two birds with one stone when the time got there. She found herself laughing when her daughter explained the bootcamp. "Dirt grandma?" she meowed with a grin. Now that was a good name for Shule. Speaking of Shule, she couldn't imagine the Commander would be too thrilled to see her, but she supposed that was a problem for later. "I'm sure Grandpa Sean's matchmaking is sent straight from heaven," she then found herself meowing with a flick of her tail. Listening to Arei pratle on made her realize how much she missed her daughter and the make-shift family that she had created in her short time in the Regime. What would have happened if she made different decisions?
"I hear power throuples are becoming more and more common these days," she meowed with a bemused flick of her ear. "Always knew Glowstar and Foxbane would end up together, though, so no surprise there. She continued to listen, offering noises of affirmation and probably several 'interestings' until they reached the surface. The moment that she got out of the tunnels, she let out a sigh. No matter how long she was or was not in the dirt, she couldn't say she was too fond of it.
"I'll never figure out why the Regime prefers to be underground," she meowed with a blink, before her gaze began to search for her mate - or her former mate, she couldn't necessarily blame Kaisra if she had moved on. Of course, Gossamer Alessandra didn't think that Kaisra would be right at the surface waiting for them, but she was anxious. "Which way from here?"
"Maybe they just hate sunlight. Surprised we don't have more hairless cats if that's the case though." Arei skipped towards DayClan camp and motioned her mother to follow. "If she's not in DayClan camp, someone there ought to know where she went!"
Luckily, when they arrived in camp after a shorter-than-expected walk, Kaisra was actually sitting off to the site, finishing up a mouse when she spotted Gossamer and Arei, paused, rubbed her eyes, and then blinked rapidly, only to then look incredibly pissed off. So much so, in fact, taht she stormed up to the pair and slapped Gossamer clear across the face, and none too lightly either. "YOU DON'T GET TO JUST DISAPPEAR ON ME AND THEN WALTZ INTO CAMP LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED! WHERE WERE YOU!?"

Well, that was a good start to the reunion. "I deserved that," she admitted with a shrug, although she was slightly dazed by the force. "I missed you too, by the way," she grumbled, although she was half sure that that would get her another, equally deserved slap to the face. Gossamer Alessandra was trying very hard to keep her distance. After a year, all she wanted to do was rest her head on Kaisra's shoulder, distance herself from the last year that she had had.
She blinked twice, before offering the other the same smile that she had the first time they had met. "I had some business to attend to," she meowed, although she was fully aware that that would lead to some prodding if she didn't have any explanation as to why. "Plus, I figured your mom was about tired of dealing with me," she meowed with a sheepish shrug, her gaze locked closely on Kaisra, thing in every detail of the cat she genuinely had missed dearly. She paused, her head tilted slightly. "I was back home at the Gambler's Den." She couldn't remember if she had told Kaisra about it, the loose group of rogues that she'd lived with before. Her family, cats that weren't so much her family, and a constant stream of drama. "We had a... family emergency, and my presence was immediately requested. I thought it was going to be quick." She looked apologetic, but there was a hint of something else in her voice. Maybe determination? She had grown a fondness for the Regime in her short tenure, but no fondness could have ever stood in the way of fixing her homeland. Or, well, getting kidnapped and taken back to the Gambler's Den, really. She had been very clear that the cats could have just asked, but tact was not something that the gang was known for.
"You don't have any reason to believe me, but if I could have told you, I would have." This time, the determination in her voice was gone, replaced with a soft sincerity. "Things just... happened too fast."
Kaisra refused to let that smile melt her, and fought the comforting warmth inside her that rose and made her want to just give Gossamer a big hug, grateful the she-cat had returned. Goss had LEFT HER. If there was any time she should be mad and not forgive, this was it. So she refused to let it go, despite the fact that the she-cat in front of her would likely noticed the subtle release of some of the tension in her traitorous limbs. "Well that's good, because I don't believe you. You had a family in the Regime, and you abandoned us!"
