Midday Patrol! One of the apprentices brings back some disturbing news after returning from a visit to the Japanese Gardens. With warmer weather approaching, it seems as though an infestation of snakes has made its way into the garden. The job of your patrol is to investigate the gardens, and very careful, in order to determine the threat that these creatures pose. Are they deadly? Harmless? Keep your wits about you, midday patrol!
Eveningrose, all three legs of her, was itching to get to work. Her life had been good as of recent and she was happy to be of any help to her clan. That wasn't anything new though. She loved helping her clan, helping the clan that saved her life and turned her into the warrior she is today! "I'm ready when you are!"
"You're not ready," Coralpaw muttered. If she had arms to cross, she would've. "You wouldn't be ready in a hundred years, a thousand years. You'd get it if you saw what I saw. Those things looked deadly--I can't believe you guys are making me, an apprentice, do this. It's--it's unethical! I told you guys about the snakes in the garden and you're repaying me by making me clear them out. This has been the worst trade deal in the history of trade deals, maybe ever."

Mapledusk padded up slowly to the patrol group he was to lead listening to what the other cats were saying. The warrior was of very little words and preferred to observe than to speak. Even so, he eyed the apprentice warily. It was known that Mapledusk was not fond of apprentices or kits.
"A warrior would do anything for their clan. Even if they don't like it." He responded as patiently as he could to Coralpaw, though by the thrashing of his tail the apprentice was already pushing it. "Since you saw the snakes it is your responsibility to show us where they are and if they're dangerous. That is all that we need to do as of now."
"But I'm not a warrior yet!" Coralpaw protested, though she begrudgingly started making her way to the gardens where she'd seen the snakes. "They were red and black-striped, with a little white thingy in between the red and black parts. And they had giant fangs and I swear to StarClan one of them hissed at me and it was SO LOUD. They were in there, milling around," she said, jerking her head in the direction of the entrance to the gardens.

"All you gotta do is show us and watch, just in case one of us gets bit. You can keep a look out and run back to tell Fawnheart in case anything bad happens. Us warriors can do the chasing and all," Blackberry explained as he sauntered after the rest of the group. The large tom had followed them out of camp like a shadow, not particularly wanting to go on this mission, but he would do so just the same, "If thats alright with Mapledusk of course, he is the leader of this patrol." the trusted followed quickly, not wanting to take over too much in case this whole thing turned into a disaster.

It had been luck that Blackberry had interrupted the apprentice's whining. That was all that the warrior could think it was. Clearly Coralpaw wasn't ready to be a warrior, and without the other warriors interference Mapledusk would have told her that. Relieved he nodded in agreement.
"Bites from snakes are painful. Even if they aren't deadly." He responded with a slight shiver of rememberance. His tail had been bitten by a snake. While it had not been lethal, it was excruciating and his tail had been swollen for several weeks. From how Coralpaw had described the snakes, they were beginning to sound more dangerous than what he'd seen on previous patrols.
"Thank you Coralpaw. Just stay a good distance away from the entrance and I trust that you can run as fast as you can back to the camp if something bad happens." He responded eyeing the entrance warily.
"Shall we?" He turned to Eveningrose and Blackberry.
"Apprentice or not, you've gotta learn sometime how to deal with snakes. They tend to come out more in the spring but we get them every year. Plus! They only react when scared or attacked so we should be good!" Eveningrose was trying to reassure Coralpaw before they went out, knowing how scary the idea of snakes could be the first time you come across them. For her, dogs would always be worse, but she could understand the fears others had of the scale creatures they were being sent out after. "And don't forget, you won't be alone either. We've got your back, Coralpaw!" Happy-go-lucky Eveningrose to the rescue, or at least she hoped her words helped a little. Even with her upbeat attitude she knew to be cautious of what they were about to face. Snakes were no joke, and the three-legged warrior never liked dealing with them, but it was her duty as a warrior to make sure these scaly creatures didn't slither their way towards camp. Her eyes turned to the leader of their patrol, "ready if you are!"
