Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It was funny how grief and stress manifested themselves in different ways. One minute he wanted to hide away and never leave his den, others he felt his heart falling like grains of sand into an endless ocean of despair, but today, oh today, Phantonfox felt that familiar fury touch his soul. There was an absolute need to sink his claws into something and for once, no one was safe.
The volatile tom was stalking across the cenote when one of his ears flicked back, catching something that rubbed him the wrong way. "Excuse me?" He turned to the offender and curled his lip, though his permanent scars alone would be enough to strike fear into anyone. "Would you like to repeat that?"
"You'd like me to, wouldn't you?" she smirked. It wasn't often that Darkmeadow was sassy to her clanmates verbally. Normally, her belittling of those around her was kept pretty strictly to her internal monologue, or her monologues with Duskveil if a cat was being particularly annoying to her soul. "Maybe if you had ears that worked, you woulda heard it the first time, eh?"
Why was she being so combative? Part of it was probably stress. She was working through how to tell Duskveil that she was ready to be a mother during their date later than night , which had horrifically spiked her anxiety levels. Maybe that explained why she seemed ready to make herself everyone else's problem that evening.
"You're best option would be to walk away right now," he warned, but there was a little voice in the back of his mind that begged her not to. That needed her not to. He was itching for a reason to strike someone, anyone, and make them feel the pain that throbbed within him.
Darkmeadow smirked. "Oh, yea?" Her own pelt prickled in anticipation of what she knew was coming. Maybe she needed to let off some steam just as much as he did. "What are you gonna do if I don't? You might be big and bad to the others, but you surely don't scare me." Her tail tip twitched wildly, her gaze an easy challenge. She knew she was close to pushing him a bit too far, but she was comforted by her relative position of safety. She was Duskveil's mate, an integral part of upper clan staff. She felt invincible, especially against Phantomfox. After all, who would want to purposely piss off their superior by beating up her girlfriend?
Darkmeadow was invincible, but not to Phantomfox, who had Aspenstar at his side and nine lives at his disposal. A snarl upturned his lip, the tom towering over her menacingly. "You should be scared," he promised, his back legs propelling him into her with the force of an avalanche.
Well... that was unexpected. She didn't think he'd actually respond physically to her instigation, and she was taken off guard when the tom came darting in her direction. Their collision was messy, and she felt herself being pushed onto her back. Darkmeadow had been top of her class, she knew how bad that was. The back was a terribly vulnerable position to be in, and he was significantly larger than her. Brute force wasn't going to get her out of this one so instead, she found her teeth latching on to his forearm. Blood was immediately drawn, she could taste the copper in her mouth. That wasn't probably a good sign for her, if she had already broken the blood barrier. "What the hell are you doing?" she hissed, still unable to shake him off of her.
Darkmeadow slipped beneath his weight, retaliating by biting into his leg, but pain was a motivator to Phantomfox, his familiarity with the sensation etched into the scars in his face. "I'm teaching you a lesson," he snarled. He recoiled his leg back from her grasp, feeling flesh rip free in her jaws, and struck her with that very same paw, claws scoring against her cheek. The maneuver was quick and calculated, but gave her an avenue of escape and opened his hindleg to vulnerability.
"You better watch it," she snarled, feeling the blood drip from her cheek. Her eyes flashed with malice. She hadn't seen Duskveil all day, and Duskveil was the only one who was able to help her stabilize her moods. She then lept for the very vulnerability he had left, swiping his leg out from under him with a low growl. "Back off, Phantomfox, before you get yourself in too deep," she warned.
He landed on his other shoulder. Hard. The collision winded him but only momentarily, Phantomfox rolling back to his feet and rising to his full height. "That's the thing, Darkmeadow: I'm not afraid of diving into the deep end. Are you?" Nothing was holding him back now, not with the stench of blood toxic in the air and the aggression bubbling between them, only the faintest strain of willpower keeping him from unleashing the fullest extent of his brutality.
She was smaller than him, but his size didn't intimidate her. Perhaps it was a lack of self preservation, perhaps it was a sadomasochistic desire to push the cat on, but she didn't step down. She shook her head slightly, still feeling the coppery taste of his blood in her mouth. She spat it to the ground, gaze cold. "If that's the game you want to play, I don't back down from oversized bullies who have to face their own failures every time they catch a glimpse of their own reflection." Was she about to get herself killed? Probably. But, at least she knew her mate would avenge her death.
If he'd been restrained before, he wasn't now, Darkmeadow's insult absolutely ripping the lock off his cage. He charged her again and caught her back leg before she could dodge his attack, yanking it viciously from beneath her. His other paw slammed onto his ribcage with his claws piercing her flesh, applying an excessive amount of pressure as Phantomfox leaned all his weight onto her side, the tom leaning down to speak into her ear. "I know a fun bonding experience. How about we have matching scars?"
