Her family didn’t understand her decision to leave, nor did she really expect them to. They hadn’t been there to see the things that she had seen, hadn’t experience the terror and horror of the misty prison. They hadn’t experienced your life slowly being drained away and being powerless to stop it. Others might think her a coward, but she had stopped caring about the opinions of others long ago. She had given up everything in pursuit of changing SunClan, and failed. All she wanted was to give her family a sad place to grow and live, and she had failed. Others saw her as a monster, and perhaps she was... She didn’t deny the horrible things that she had done, or even attempt to fight their accusations. The hatred and threats they threw at her not even a drop in the ocean of self hatred she found herself drowning in. None of their words cutting as deeply as the cruel words of her own mind
It was only what Bravepaw said next that had given her pause... so he had seen it to. Hearing his words was like reliving it all over again, her face growing pale as the cold seeped into her soul. She had excused herself, leaving Duskslayer and the other Janus behind so that she could get some air, sending Skipstep and Vixenkismet to go and speak with the rest of her family. A familiar warmth landed on her pelt, though her eyes didn’t lift from staring out over the ash covered camp “You know why I can’t stay....” it wasn’t a question but a statement. There was no doubt he would be able to see the waves of self hatred, the tendrils of fear, and the helplessness of being unable to defend her family from this thing. But that wasn’t why she couldn’t stay, she hadn’t said as much in their meeting but Bravepaw had seen it himself... “That... thing.... it took something from me. I haven’t been the same since that day, and until I am able to figure it out I am a danger to those around me” she turned to Bravepaw “I watched how it used Omega, how he was forced to kill those that he once loved. How it tore apart his soul. I don’t know what it did to me... You saw the vision, it doesn’t want to kill them. It wants ME to kill them” there was a tremble to her voice, appearing even less confident in the choice she had made “I want to stay and fight, but what if the monster I am fighting is already inside of me? You want to give me back power over a clan, that is unable and unwilling to fight back against me?” she swallowed hard “I can’t.... I won’t...”Honeystorm
Damek padded out after Littlestar quietly, sitting next to her in silence and listening to her talk. He didn't need fancy god abilities to see that she was struggling, and his father hadn't exactly pulled any punches, either. "And what if you leave?" He added. "You're so fearful of the monster you could be come that you're forgetting that running away isn't going to magically mean it's all fixed. If you run, what stops you from becoming what you fear, and then just taking power back by force?" He didn't want to be blunt, but in a way, her thoughts of leaving seemed silly. Bravepaw knew he could leave, but that wouldn't stop the problems from chasing him. "Don't say SunClan as it is now, either. We both know they'd just roll over and accept it. It's so deeply ingrained in them to just bow to the highest power they can see, it's going to take a lot more than just me and whoever I could pick as Priest and Promised alone to change that."
”Don’t be afraid” Littlestar mewed softly as they stood before the towering eternal flame that guarded the entrance to the temple of the sun. Standing so close they could feel the warmth on their skin, the frightening crackle of the flames filling their ears. Walking into fire didn’t come naturally to most cats, your every instinct screaming for you to turn and run from the imminent danger before it consumed you “The temple will recognize you as the Sun God and will allow you through, you just need faith” her tail lightly touched him on the shoulder knowing that it was the first step in developing a level of trust between them “follow me” she walked forward, first one paw and then the other reaching into the flames, as the tendrils reached out to lick at her pelt until she was gone.
on the other side she waited for the newly named warrior to join her
Bravewolf padded after Littlestar, ear twitching at her comment. It seemed a bit ironic, that she would be telling him to not be afraid. Staring at the fire, he figured he should probably be terrified. But, for one, if she wanted him dead, he didn't think she'd do it like this. Faith, though, that was a bit harder, even if some part of him seemed to understand that he shouldn't need to worry, the idea he was, in fact, a god, was so far out of the realm of reality that even though it was true, it wasn't easy to accept.
And then she was gone, and he was left alone to his thoughts, the only two paths forward being turning around, or heading into the flames. Well, he'd come a bit too far at this point to turn away now. So, he followed, the flames enveloping him until, at last, he stood by Littlestar's side once more.

Silence fell over them temple as Bravewolf appeared beside of Littlestar. Cats fell into a deep respectful bow, even the Guardian Of The Flame. It wasn’t often that the Sun God visited them temple himself, and it was his first return her since the reincarnation. Little remained quiet for a few moments to allow him to take in the sight of the large ornate steps, and cats that resided there “This is the Temple of the Sun” she mewed softly, unsure of how much he would remember about this place. She had spent a lot of time here during her captivity seeking answers, and finding relief from pain she endured in the waking world. She wanted to find out more about the looming threat they faced, but first she would need to guide Bravewolf through his own journey here. To find answers to the questions he had, to help him figure out who he was, and who he wanted to become
”Here you will find the answers you seek, but knowledge comes at a price” she paused, giving him a little more time “When you are ready, we will begin. I am here to help guide you through the hurdles of the temple. Close your eyes, and find the question you most desire to have answered”
"Why am I paying a price if I'm the god of this place?" Bravewolf questioned, sounding slightly confused. Not that he knew anything, but it seemed like a design flaw. He didn't really want to pay anything, but he did obey. Of course, his question was rather obvious and simple, as he thought, 'Why me?'

"Even Gods can not escape consequences" she murmured softly, allowing the young cat's eyes to close as he thought about his question.. She placed her tail gently onto his shoulder leading him down the carved stone steps towards one of these tunnels "The room we are in now is the central room to the Temple of The Sun. When you enter into the tunnels it takes you where you need to go to find the answers that you seek. It doesn't always make sense at first, and you may spends days or even weeks searching. But the answer is always there"
The darkness of the tunnel giving way to a bright light
Bravewolf didn't like that answer. Funny, that he had so easily gotten used to the idea of power, that the idea he was crippled a bit didn't sit well. Of course, he would survive, he supposed. But the uncertainty most definitely didn't help, despite the fact he chose to continue on with Littlestar, despite his own misgivings about the situation. Was it too late to go to the Regime? Perhaps the Blind Protector could help. If he could roam the earth, a living god, then surely the Blind Protector could do so as well?

When they went through the tunnel, they found themselves back once more at the top of the carved stone steps "It seems the answer wasn't as far as we thought" she mused, looking down upon the intricate carvings below their feet "Perhaps we should start back at the begining, the story behind what I did to you that day at the gathering. The reason I took your life..." she paused, waiting to see how Bravewolf would react "The story might not be easy for you to hear, but maybe it will help you to understand"
Funny, ending up right where they started. Of course, it did make Bravewolf look around a bit more closely this time. When Littlestar mentioned killing him, he bristled slightly, looking a bit uncomfortable. "Bit too late to back out, I suppose?" It wasn't quite a plea to leave, but almost. He understood he'd have to face it eventually... he'd just hoped perhaps he'd have more than his murderer to explain. He looked at his paws and the carvings there as the Priestess' downward gaze piqued his curiosity. "May as well hear it now instead of later, the truth isn't going to disappear just because it's hard."

SHe dipped her head, hoping that at least Bravewolf would begin to have some understanding of what had happened and that this wasn't the first time "The steps below our feet now depict a time even more ancient than SunClan. It was a story that you once told me yourself before " she moved back to reveal the details lions and tigers carved into the stone. They were bowing to the eternal flame, a representation of the Sun God himself "Back then almost all creatures worshipped you, even the mightiest of the big cats. Lions and tigers both... They worked together to serve you" the next few steps depicted how the ancient cat's worshipped, Littlestar walked around the steps slowly so that Bravewolf could take him time examining the carvings "but this time of peace couldn't last forever"
"The Sun God began to pit the lions and tigers against one another, until eventually the tigers were lead astray by the moon and ready to go to war with the lions" she paused, giving him time to take everything that she had said into consideration "I once asked The Sun God why he pitted the two sides against one another, and even though I couldn't and still am unable to make sense of it. Perhaps it will be more meaningful to you. Chaos is the law of nature, order is the dream of mortals"

Did it make sense? Not so much. Some deep part of him understood, but he wasn't sure he was able to make sense of his own past life's reasoning for doing so. Everything was patchy, though thinking of this particular scenario brought to mind memories that felt parallel to those he'd experienced in this lifetime. "This isn't the first time I've been reborn." Bravewolf noted. It wasn't necessarily a surprise, but saying it out loud felt different.

"No it is not..." she continued walking around the carved steps, as the scenes below their feet got more and more violent. Some acts done by the sun god, but also a bloody brutal war between the lion's and the tigers. It wasn't easy to look upon, even though the scenes were only carved "The two sides fought, and many terrible things were done in the Sun God's name. Cubs were killed, queens tortured and slaughtered, young cats tortured, and cats sacrificed to the flames. There were two cats that came together to put an end to the war, a male tiger and a female lioness. The two of them in love, but on opposite sides of the war. They went to the moon goddess for guidance and begged for her to help them put an end to the violence. She agreed to give them her blessing, but immense power comes at a cost... After their job was finished, their bodies wouldn't be able to handle the power they had been infused with. In order to put an end to the Sun God's terror, they would be sacrificing themselves" it had been the same decision she had been faced with, the consequences of which she had been unable to escape.
"The two of them agreed, willing to put their own lives on the line in order to do what was needed for their people. They took the Moon Godesses' blessing, and fought side by side until they were able to defeat the Sun God. But just as the Sun cannot swallow the moon, neither could the moon extinguish the sun. They took the Sun God's life, so that he could be reborn in a time of peace. To be raised among the cats he would one day rule, to experience life as a mortal. To create understanding of what those under him had to go through. " The arrived at the point where the Sun God was reborn, a mix of both lion and tiger who lived amongst them before retaking his title and throne as the Sun God "The lion and tiger that were there are here now in the Temple Of Sun. Still continuing to serve you, even in death. It was they who spoke to me that day at the gathering, whispered in my ears that it was time. That you had forgotten what it was like to live as a mortal, your care for life no longer burned within your soul. Should you have been allowed to continue on that path, it would have led to the destruction of Sun Clan and everything you once valued"
They arrived at the bottom of the steps, now depicting how the lions and tigers came together once more under the new Sun God. One who had now experienced the hard ships of being mortal, before becoming divine once more "You see the day that I killed you wasn't out of anger nor for my own benefit. In choosing to proceed, my life was forfeit. I didn't believe I would make it out of that gathering, but it was something that had to be done. I gave myself over to the ancients and the moon goddess, so that they could use my body as a vessel. I don't remember much of what happened after that, only awakening back in SunClan with my body broken"

He wasn't entirely sure he believed the 'I didn't kill you out of anger' thing. He could clearly remember her face when his old self admitted to those horrid things. Anger was most definitely a part of her reasoning, even if the ancients had approved. Or at least, that's what it appeared as. Still, the idea that this was simply the cycle of his life was on some level comforting. On the other paw... that meant this would happen again, and that was a terrifying thought. One that almost made him hyperventilate if not for the fact he didn't want Littlestar to see him freaked out by this internal crisis. "I'd let you know what happened, but I'm not entirely sure what went down between dying and returning to SunClan." Bravewolf answered, giving a breathless sort of laugh that seemed more anxious than anything else.
