Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
“So, have you gone on a lot of hunting patrols in SwiftClan?” Ghostcrown asked, very calmly. He’d been working on his humor lately, searching for the light spirit he used to have, but it seemed his comedic timing wasn’t what it used to be. Just like how this patrol wasn’t what it used to be. It had started out okay, just the two of them hunting together, but that was before the dog showed up.
Now his back was crammed against the bush he was cowering beneath, ears flat against his head as he held his breath, praying the dog wouldn’t find him. But as it marched inevitably closer, he was running out of hope. At least Dreamshade might have a chance at escape if he got caught . . .

"Well considering I've been here for awhile I suppose you could say I have. Only thing is I have never gone out with anyone else since I came here. Why do...." Her words cut short and her ears twitch as she picks up the fresh scent of dog just before she sees Ghostcrown scamper under a bush squishing into it as hard as he could no doubt in hopes he could disappear into it. Being as large and as blue as she was there was no way she was going to be able to hide in those bushes especially with Ghostcrown already there attempting to hide. She ducks behind a tree that was a little on the skinny side so it wouldn't last long if the dog got much closer. This was just a temporary solution to give herself a few extra minutes to think. Ordinarily she would just climb a tree and wait it out or if there were a few trees close enough together she would jump across them and then down and run a bit from there. However she had another with her this time and she wasn't sure how good of a tree climber he was and in his present state of mind she didn't think it the best time to find out either. She thought for a moment as she could here the paw steps coming closer. Then Dreamshade remembered a trick that here father had used many moons ago when she was younger when they too were confronted with a similar situation. She looks around and luckily there happened to be a rather decent sized stick that she was sure would make just enough noise. "Stay there" She whispers quietly. Then Dreamshade crept her way behind the dog ducking behind a tree. this one slightly larger than the last. Once she was sure that she couldn't be seen she tossed the sick as hard as she could in the direction the dog had come from. It smacks into a tree with a crack and lands on the ground with a loud thud. She waits a moment hoping that the noises would distract and entice the dog to go back that way and investigate as the dog did when her father had done the same when she was younger. Which in turn would give them enough time to get out of there and back to safety hopefully without a scratch on them. Cleaver
There wasn't much room beneath the bush to move around, and lifting his head just caught it in the branches, but he tried to wiggle around anyway. He had to keep an eye on the other warrior. If she couldn't escape, if the dog came for her, he would have to intervene; he wasn't a heroic cat but he couldn't stand by and let someone else die either. She seemed safe for now, as safe as he was, but then she crept out from her hiding place.
"Dreamshade, come back," he hissed at her, but there was nothing Ghostcrown could do to stop her as she picked her way carefully behind the dog. What was she doing? Was she trying to lure it away? The stick struck the tree with a snap and the dog's head whipped around, barking as it sprinted toward the sound and plunged its muzzle into the undergrowth at the base of the tree, sniffing furiously. It wouldn't be long before it realized the cats weren't there after all and came back for them, but for now, she had saved their hides.
Ghostcrown pulled himself out from under the bush. "This way!" he called quietly, darting the opposite direction of the predator. Tigerclover

Dreamshade was watching the dog like a hawk with an eye to it's prey. As soon as she saw that her father's trick had worked she let out a quiet sigh of relief waiting for just the right moment to make a run for where Ghostcrown had called knowing that it wouldn't be long before the dog lost interest in where the stick had landed making all the racket.
She finally catches up to Ghostcrown and they get a great distance away for the dog she slows down a little. "Are you alright? I think we should go back to the others and let them know there is a dog not too far from where we are staying so no one goes out alone. especially the young ones. There is one in particular that I am afraid may do so if we are not careful. Then we can come back out for another shot at getting some prey. Lets just remember to go the opposite direction when we leave so we are less likely to have another run in with that dog. Some are friendly but most are not."
Dreamshade then slows even more now from a jog to a brisk walk and eventually stops when she thought they were far enough away from the dog.she needed a moment to catch her breath and reorganize her thoughts as the adrenaline finally wears off. Cleaver
Ghostcrown was panting hard by the time they were far from the camp. Too many sedentary days in the medicine cat's den looking after his friend's family had left him a little out of shape, and it had been a long run. He nodded as he listened to her, waiting until he caught his breath to respond.
"You're right. I don't want anyone getting hurt. I'm worried some young apprentices will get excited by the scent and chase after it too if we don't warn their mentors," he added with a frown. He certainly would have when he was younger, but he had been a stubborn and challenging apprentice back then, rebelling against everything he had known. He stopped beside her, taking a few more deep breaths. "Even if that dog was friendly, it was a little big. I don't want it to accidentally hurt someone."
"Yes that is a scary thought of the youngsters chasing after that scent. Maybe we rest here for a few moments then head back." She suggests noticing how tired he looked and her muscles were starting to ache a little now that the adrenaline was wearing off. Cleaver
