Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
For this initiation, Bloodystar decided to leave the first half of the initiation ceremony to the Janus. This way there was no delay between the jump and the end of the ceremony, for he would be at the bottom of the cliff as the new Warriors emerged from the water. However... He had, uh, underestimated Mountain's size.
The High Priest's immaculately styled fur coat and intricate paint - which he had spent a good hour on this morning - was now absolutely drenched in water after the massive tom's cannonball.
"Ahem---"
Bloodystar's tone was a bit terse, but he was clearly trying to be civil. The High Priest shook the dampness from his pelt and took a step forward, then promptly slipped on the damp sandstone, jarring his jaw against the hard ground. He got back to his feet in seconds but the damage to his pride was severe.
That is the last time I watch from below.
"It is with great reverence that I, High Priest Bloodystar, stand beneath our Great Protector today and bask in his eternal rays. With his permission and guidance, it is now that I grant our Initiates their new names. May they serve him well and bring blessings onto his people. Weed, from this day forward you will be known as Lavacake. And Mountain..." Bloodystar paused, giving him a good long glare. Was he petty enough to name a cat after a momentary annoyance that wasn't even really his fault?
Water streamed down his slick sides as the immense tomcat hauled himself onto the land, relishing in the dive they'd taken. The fall was nothing to him, insignificant, and he did not understand what the big deal was. He did not understand that task but he did know it was important. He was a warrior now, that made the others happy, it was a good thing.
He listened to the ceremony quietly, blank eyes assuredly unaware he had upset the leader. After his name was spoken, there was a pause, and he decided they must be done.
So Slipperyslope whipped around and tackled Lavacake in a full-on bear hug, sweeping her off her paws and not-so-gently clunking his head against hers. "Do you like it? Do you like it?" he asked brightly, his eyes glimmering as he grinned down at her. "I have new name, Weed!" The new warrior could not care less if his name was meant to be petty, it didn't matter at all what they called him, but she mattered. His best friend was here at his side, she had a new name just like him, they were inseparable now.
Weed, or now Lavacake as Bloodystar so graciously named her, had carefully climbed out of the water. She gave her mottled pelt a quick shake as she sat back down, curling her tail around her paws as she listened. It had been an... interesting journey. She certainly didn't expect to make friends with Mountain, but truth be told he grew on her. She sat proudly by his side, whiskers twitching as Bloodystar gave him his new name. Before she could turn to him and tell her how proud she was, Mountain reacted as Mountain did.
"Mo-ow..!" She mewed, sounding like a surprised kit as he lifted her off the ground. That she was used to, but the hard head of her friend was still something she never expected. Lavacake rubbed her bruised head with her paw before she chuckled and returned the massive hug. "You do! I'm so proud of you, Slipperyslope!" She purred. "So long as you love it, then so do I"

Lionpride stood ready to go to her rescue, but weed...no Lavacake didn't seem to be to bother. He smiled, happy to see that she had been able to reearn her warrior name. All of the kits he had in the nursery were keeping him busy, but he wanted to makes sure that he was here for her initation. His long tail folded over his paws, keeping a respectful distance. He had no right to stand at her side any more, but seeing her so happy did make him happy to.

Lavacake chuckled as she managed to land back on solid ground. She gave her damp pelt another shake before she turned to look out at those that had come to see the initiation. The tortoiseshell was shocked to see Lionpride there. She would have expected him to remain in the nursery with his kits. She offered him a friendly smile before she looked back up at Slipperyslope.
"Why don't we go meet our new clanmates? As new warriors, it would be a sign of respect to the others." Lavacake said gently. Though she wasn't exactly a new warrior, it was a fresh start to what she hoped would be a new leaf for her and for her large friend as well. Cleaver
"I love if you love," he assured her. Her approval made him burn with warmth inside like he'd swallowed the Sun God, though he was (mostly) sure he hadn't done that. The warmth flooded every toe and even the tips of his ears and the heavy tom felt strangely light and indomitably happy, the feeling was almost better than killing a well-deserving enemy, probably not the same invincibility but close, and he simply grinned and grinned.
In fact, not even Lionpride could kill his good spirit, though he certainly was not going to let him try.
"Okay," Slipperyslope agreed cheerfully. He started to guide her into the crowd, using his massive bulk to block her from heading toward Lionpride.
