Secretpaw strutted into camp carrying a large rabbit that he had managed to catch. It was almost as big as head was, and the tips of it's hind paws had been dragging on the ground before setting it down on the fresh kill pile "I'm going to be the best warrior in SwiftClan in no time!" he boasted, his eyes scanning the clearing for signs of his siblings. However, they seemed to all still be out with their mentors. To bad, he had wanted to see the looks on their faces when they saw what he had caught. His mentor had left to see to deputy duties, leaving the young apprentice to his own devices for a little while.
It seemed like everyone was to busy to notice his big catch, his tail drooping slightly Tigerclover

Dreamshade had jst woken up a few moments before the young apprentice had entered camp. She had heard an odd dirt scrapping noise that caused her to look toward where most cats enter then camp. She lets out a chuckle when she sees that it is a young apprentice dragging a rabbit half the side of himself to the fresh kill pile and manages to throw it in. Dreamshade then noticed a sudden change in his happy confident demeanor. I wonder what is the matter she thought as she stands shaking out her fur with a tilt of her head. The large blue Maine Coon decided to make her way over to the young apprentice to see if she could help him at all. She stops a couple paw lengths in front of him and politely tips her head in greeting. Hallo there young one. That was a pretty big catch you had there. Did you manage to catch em all by yourself? You seemed to turn sad all the sudden though is everything alright, can I help with something?” She asks in a warm tone as she sits down so her large size does not intimidate the young tom. Her emerald eyes watching him carefully.

Secretpaw stood there for a few moments, debating on what he should do next. He wouldn't be doing any more formal training until the following morning, and most of the chores had already been completed. However, he didn't have long to think before a voice interrupted his thoughts. His ears swiveled, his head turning until he spotted the blue she-cat towering over him. He had seen the she-cat before but not really paid her much attention, after all he only recently left the confinement of the nursery and his mother's watchful eyes. At least with her new litter having arrived, he and his siblings had quite a bit more freedom.
A smile began to spread across his face with the she-cat's praise. He was used to getting a lot of attention from his extended family, so much so that he craved being the center of attention "You already have" he purred warmly "It's just... I made my first catch today and I was hoping that my siblings would be here to see it, but I guess they are still out with their mentors" he shook out his pelt and puffed out his chest "I wish I could have spent more time out training, but my mentor is an important cat, and had other things he needed to go do" there was a hint of disappointment in his voice, but also pride. It was an honor to be mentored by the clan's deputy, but it also meant that he was going to get less attention

Dreamshade nods her head as she listens. “I’m sure they will be just as proud of you when you tell them all about it as they would be if they had saw your catch. As for your training I’m sure your mentor will get in as many lessons as they can with you they of all cats know how important the training is you know. Maybe you could team up with one of your siblings or friends when the deputy. Is busy. I’m sure their mentors wouldn’t once in awhile, and hey you never know it might actually be fun.” She responded with a small smile. racer

Secretpaw nodded, knowing that she was right but still not quite being able to shake of the remnants of his disappointment "I will just tell them about it later" He stood up shaking out his pelt "I guess in the mean time I'll try to work on my hunter's crouch on my own...." he paused then looked up at the she-cat "Could you give me some pointers?"
He knew it was kind of sudden, but she didn't seem to be to busy at the moment and he could use the extra guidance. "That way when my mentor comes back, I can show him how hard I have worked"

Secretpaw grinned, dropping into his best hunter's crouch. He only had one lesson so far, and it was still rather sloppy though he was sort of getting it. He had been so sickly as a kit, that he didn't have the same muscles built up as some of the other apprentices. He moved forward, muscles gliding under his skin smoothly carefully placing his paws on the ground. His legs were too long for his body, giving him an awkward gait and throwing him off balance slightly. He would probably grow into them eventually, but for now it left him looking a little strange.

Dreamshade watches carefully form her place. “That’s not to bad kiddo. Don’t put your legs so far apart. You want to spread them just a bit so you keep your balance batter when you go to pounce on your prey.” She said as she laid there with all of her focus on seceretpaw like he was the only one there in the camp. racer

Secretpaw nodded getting his feet a little more underneath him "Like this?" he asked, moving forward in a more balanced way. However the new pose was odd to him, and when his foot caught on a pebble it sent him tumbling onto his back. He looked up with a sheepish grin "Guess I have a lot of learning to do huh?" he twisted himself back around, shaking out his coat and then falling back into the crouch that he had been working on like nothing had ever happened

Dreamshade nods "Well yes like that but the object is to keep your balance without scaring away all the food from falling." She said jokingly with a small chuckle. She was amazed at the young one's determination to keep going as nothing had happened. It sort of reminded her of herself when she was his age and just learning things. She would often go off on her own after the training session and keep going over things until she was sure she had completely learned everything she was being taught by her mentor so she could show them how hard she was willing to work. racer

"I know that" Secretpaw huffed, but he still seemed in good spirits. It wasn't had to tell that the she-cat was joking "I'm just not used to moving that way... It hurts my legs" and to be fair it probably did. They were just to long for a normal hunter's crouch, at least for the moment. He took a moment to straighten out his legs and stretch and then dropped into the pose again "How did you get so good at this?" he asked curiously "Was through hunting or practicing forms?"

Dreamshade takes in everything he says as she watches. “Well you know if it hurts to much then adjust your legs a bit to a more comfortable position just make sure can keep your balance. Then maybe you can talk to your mentor letting him know that it hurts and you can maybe wok on somethings to help make your legs stronger. As for me it was a lot of forms and hunting until I got it right mostly it was the hunting though.” She answers racer

He nodded falling back into a more comfortable version "But I need to make sure I am doing it the right way even if it hurts. I am the deputy's apprentice, I can't go around looking like I don't know what I am doing. He would be so disapointed in me"

Dreamshade nods. I understand what you are saying but there is a difference between what looks right to others and what works for you. Your body is built a bit differently than the others, so what works for most won’t always work for you. Not until you build the strength up that you need and perhaps grow a bit more into those legs of yours. When I was younger I had to do things a little different myself, but my mentor understood and helped me the best he could. I still do some things a little different sometimes depending on the situation. Bottom line is as long as you keep your balance and accomplish your task at hand then you are doing it just right for you. Your mentor is meant to be more of a guide to help you find what works for you than he is there to tell you you have to do it a specific way. At least as far as your hunting and combat skills go kiddo. Each of us had our own way of doing those things just takes lots of practice and dedication to perfect those skills so you can help others in the clan. Then when you get older you will one day get the chance to pass on that knowledge to other younger cats and help them to discover what works best for them to succeed successfully.” she said with a smile. He tail flicking back and forth behind her. racer

Secretpaw straightened up, the warrior's words making him feel a lot better about his awkward form. He had been afraid of shaming Cadledgrave, but now he wasn't quite as scared. The words she spoke giving him more confidence in himself, even though his form wasn't perfect "Thank you" he purred, stalking forward, the tip of his fluffy tail twitching as he walked forward with much more ease of keeping his weight even and his steps heavy "You would make a great mentor" he compliment with a smile, before dropping out of his crouch and sitting down with his tail snaking over his paws "Have you ever had an apprentice?"
There was just so much about the clan that Secretpaw wanted to learn that he hadn't known about from the walls with in the nursery. He and his siblings had been really sickly, and forced to stay close so that they could keep a close eye on them. While she waited on his answer, he felt his paws begin to tremble His eyes widened "Sorry I have to go!" he stood to leave, only making it a few steps before the tremors took hold, and he fell to the ground shaking. His whole body began to shake, his eyes rolling back in his head (he suffers from seizures)

Dreamshade smiles as she listens to Secretpaw. "You are very welcome, and no I have not had an official apprentice. I really only have just given tips when asked just like I have with you." She starts to say something else when Secretpaw spoke up abruptly saying he had to go. She tips her head politely as he attempts to leave. Her eyes widen as he starts to shake uncontrollably.
Dreamshade realizes that it is a seizure only because she had run into a cat many moons ago before she came to this clan that had this same thing, and he had explained it to her after she had of course freaked out because she had no idea what was happening at the time. She immediately gets up making her way to Secretpaw and sits next to him gently stroking him with her fluffed tail waiting patiently for the seziure to subside.
