Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(one of the characters I need help characterizing so I can finish their bio)
She found herself lost in life. She was a white phantom that wandered the territory at night. Disappearing from her clanmates sight lines behind trees. Fading into the background of their lives. She was silent unknown entity that shared the same space with her clanmates. Rarely speaking but a few words to them. Many of which barely knew her name Dollface. She was merely known as a phantom with the cracked face. A face pure white as the moon in the sky. Broken by old battle scars that told stories of her life in Nightclan. She walked along the border the led into the unknown wilds that laid outside Nightclan's territory. She found them fascinating, but wondered if it was due to the wild blood from her father that roared in her veins.
"Penny for your thoughts, my dear?" The voice was almost... serpentine, trailing off into a faint whisper. It came from the older feline who had recently made her home in NightClan, the Pythoness, as she referred to herself. Not Pythoness, but the Pythoness. Most of the clan still did not know what to do with her, but Aspenstar had allowed her at least temporary stay while she healed from the massive flesh wound across her chest. Still, even with their leader's blessing, it was perhaps unsurprising that others were wary of her. She carried... an energy about her. There was an unnerving glow to her eyes, and the very way she held herself was either profoundly comforting or deeply unsettling, depending on your opinion of a cat who had the wisdom that seemed only likely to be acquired through the living of multiple lives. Perhaps she had, perhaps she was an old soul, cursed to never find her peace. Perhaps she was completely innocent, and the harsh judgements were uncalled for. It was hard to tell. "You look as if you have something deeply pressing on your mind."
Her eyes very large and vibrate green had moved their attention from the wild lands that laid outside the border. To focus on the newcomer standing in front of her. While Dollface didn't interact with many of her clanmates. She did know most of their names because she was a silent observer that stuck to the outer edges of camp. She looked the strange cat up and down. Puzzled because she hasn't seen the cat before, but wondered if this was the new cat that was currently taking refugee in Nightclan's camp. "I was just wondering what was beyond that border." she answered.
The corners of the strange cat's lips twitched up in what could almost be considered a smile, almost. "Would you like to see yourself?" She asked with a twitch of her tail. "Before I sought refuge in NightClan, I resided not too far into the wilderness. I could show you if you please?" The Pythoness blinked, and for a moment, her unnerving gaze was hidden by her eyelids. When they reopened, a curiosity could be seen. She wouldn't necessarily blame the other cat if she did not want to take up her offer, but the idea of getting one of the NightClan cats alone in a land that wasn't theirs was... intriguing at best.
"I had heard you were a rogue before coming across Nightclan. What is it like across the border? What's out there?" Dollface asked tilting her head to the side. Her eyes looking towards the vast unknown. She wondered for a moment if her father was out there, and if she had other family.
She smiled a rather cynical smile. "Yes, I was," she meowed with a wave of her tail. "I spent most of my life traveling." She looked off into the distance for a moment, reminiscing on all of the things that she had seen. "I've seen the whole world out there, and yet I still ended up here." Her tail twitched slightly.
"I can show you, if you would like, but you must accept it first. I promise on my life that accepting my offer will cause you no harm. In order to see, you must be willing." It was too soon for the Pythoness to take a captive that didn't want to be taken, and even if it wasn't, it was much, much harder for her to project to cats who were unwilling participants. "If you wish to see, my child, you will."
She then closed her eyes and muttered something under her breath. She then opened her eyes again and offered a smile that was much less intimidating than the first. "Join me, my child," she murmured, before glancing off into the distance. She had done all that she could do; the rest was up to Dollface to decide if she wanted to take the suggestion.
If Dollface did take the suggestion, she would see the world around her start to change. The forest around her would slowly transform. Instead of the darkness of night, Dollface would be greeted with the warm breeze that rose off of the ocean. The smell of salt would linger in the air, and she would see the beach. She would see what the Pythoness saw; the glittering water, the soft sand. It would be as if she was in an entire new world, one far away from the borders of NightClan.
If she didn't, though, if Dollface chose not to take the suggestion, did not choose to see, she would remain in NightClan, staring at a cat that she probably would assume had lost her mind.
Dollface looked mesmerized by the idea of seeing what was beyond the borders. She glanced curiously at the great unknown before her. Then back at the strange she-cat. “You can show me what’s out there? I think I would like that! I’ve always wanted to see what was beyond these borders. To see what wonderful places are out there.” She softly smiled at the idea of getting to see something new. Just as she agreed to the question. It was small things that she noticed were different. The first thing the scent of the air changed. It smelled strangely salty and not like Nightclan. The forest seemed to melt away and soft sand was beneath her feet. Glittering water lapped gently at the shoreline and the moon faded away into the sun.
The sight before her was like anything she had ever seen. Her mouth dropped open as she stated starstruck at the scene in front of her. She felt fear at first wondering how this was possible. She had just been standing in Nightclan’s territory moments ago. But now they were somewhere bright vibrant and full of colors she had never seen. “How is this possible?” She asked looking around taking it all in.
The feline walked to the edge of the water, its waves lapping at her paws. It all felt so undeniably real; it was no wonder why Dollface was confused. Maybe, if she had been in the same position, the Pythoness would have reacted similarly to the magic that coursed through her veins.
She let out a chuckle, before turning back. "I am.... I believe you call them Elementals, here." She tilted her head to the side in thought. "In my home, we call them the Projectors, a matrilineal line where females born to the lineage have the possibility to inherit the gift of projection. There is only ever one active Projector, called the Holder; upon the death of the current Holder, the power reemerges in one of the females born to the next of kin." She flicked her tail, debating on how much to tell the other cat. "A Holder projects for the first time to its mother as cognition develops. From that point on, the kitten's original name is forgotten, and they take on the name of every Holder before them: the Pythoness." It was... more complicated than that, but she supposed Dollface didn't need to know the intricate details of a culture long forgotten. "As you can guess, I was the feline to inherit the power."
She glanced back to the water. "If you were asking how the projections occur, once a feline allows me to, I can show them anything that I have experienced before. They have to be willing, but if they are, I can share with them my sight."
Dollface had heard of the elementals but had never personally interacted with one of them. To her they were just a mysterious as the land beyond Nightclan's territory. She had heard rumors that Elementals were dangerous, but at the moment seeing the vast amount of water in front of her. Feeling the calming breeze in her fur and smelling the salty air. She couldn't see how this was dangerous. She tested the soft sand beneath her feet. It felt warm and very real and she found it relaxing.
"Yes in the forest we call others similar to you Elementals." She responded as she further listened to the Pythoness's explanation about the Projectors. She continued to look out at the water with kitten like wonder. "I can see how some would be unwilling. Afraid of the unknown, but this seems peaceful."
"You look much more at ease than when I first saw you," she meowed with a flick of her tail. "The illusion is working." She offered a faint glimpse of a smile, before blinking twice, her gaze sifting to the water. She then nodded. "Yes, the fear of the unknown is something I come across quite often," she meowed with a hint of amusement in her voice. "Personally, I understand that fear very little. The world is a great big world, yet clan cats let themselves be limited to one territory in fear of what exists beyond it. It has always been stunningly peculiar to me."
"It is relaxing and rather calming in a way. It feels like all of the stress in my recent life has floated away. I think the fear has been deeply rooted for generations. I've always been curious about what is beyond the territories. My father was born outside of the clan. He left shortly after my mother passed away so I don't remember either of them. I've always wanted to know what was beyond these borders that pulled him away and I see now the beauty that he missed." Dollface rambled as she continued to watch the water.
