Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
roll: die (but survive) who feels like saving a kit’s life huh
Freedom. It was with a sense of the utmost satisfaction that Snowykit finally surveyed the cenote glistening in the twilight before her, the fresh air of the open territory washing over her as she crept out of the cave. All of her previous escape attempts had been thwarted by annoyingly observant clanmates who thought that kits wandering around outside was “against the rules” or “dangerous”, but here she was, finally.
Snowykit took her first step into the open air, and didn’t get to take a second as an owl swooped silently down from the sky and wrapped its talons around her small body. She let out an almighty shriek as she was lifted off the ground, thrashing helplessly against the bird’s grip.
The noise had been enough to alert her from her casual stroll through the territory. Well, maybe not a casual roll; it seemed as if she was completely incapable of doing anything casual. She never really had been able to take leisure time, and that certainly didn't change upon her promotion. Still, her walk had been mostly observational in intention before she heard the noise. As soon as she did, her body went into hyperdrive. She darted in the direction of the cenote, her muscles pushing her forward as quickly as she could. She couldn't exactly recognize the voice, but all she knew was that it was a young cat, maybe even a kitten, so whatever happened next had the capacity to be very, very bad.
By the time that she reached the bird, it was just barely in enough time before the creature was too high in the air. "Hold on!" the leader yoweled as she sent herself flying from the highest position that she could get to. Was this the best idea? Probably not, as if she, the owl, and the kitten all fell down at the same time in the same place, there was a potential for a catastrophe. However, in the heat of the moment, it was all the leader could do.
The owl had a long-standing belief that the cats of NightClan were the most annoying thing in what was otherwise a perfectly good territory, and had been considering moving to the other side of the forest where those nice DayClanners and SunClanners hunted during the day instead of at night, where he had to compete with them for all the nocturnal prey. Like, really, stay in your lane. So when he happened to see a tiny NightClan cat, all alone and easy pickings, he thought it was only fair that he swipe one of their own after they had been interrupting his hunts for so long.
His glee at finally sticking it to the cats of NightClan was almost immediately cut short, as no sooner than he lifted his prey off the ground was he tackled by a fully-grown cat, this one with unpleasantly sharp claws. He let out a sharp hoot of pain as her claws penetrated his feathers, releasing the kitten in his grasp for them both to fall back to the ground below. It's definitely time to move, he thought sourly as he flew off into the night.
"Aspenstar! You saved me!" wailed Snowykit as she landed atop the leader's body, wrapping her forelegs tightly around Aspenstar's neck so that she couldn't go anywhere, just in case any more big bad predators showed up.
