Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The sun was barely cresting the horizon, still veiled by the treeline, but the darkness of the previous night was already beginning to thin to spindly little shadows through the camp. In the forest, all was quiet, scarcely a mouse to be heard, but SummerClan's residents didn't know what a quiet night was anymore, the sound of snores splitting the tranquility in half as they emanated from Ratstar's den. Most cats avoided the den when the leader was sleeping, but on this particularly morning, a pair of creamy ears and cobalt eyes peaked over his unassuming form. With a deep inhale, Sunpaw yelled, "GOOD MORNING PAPPY~!"
Ratstar hadn't left his den much in quite a few days, and for good reason; who would've thunk that when the weather constantly switches between warm, dreadfully windy days and constant rain - as the coming of Newleaf tends to do - it would be more likely for the leader of Summerclan to catch a bad cold? He was honestly just glad that whatever herbs Graythorn was givin' him seemed to work like a charm, though that medical miracle came with...very sharp instructions to 'lie in your nest, and stay there you mousebrain.' Whelp, Ratstar was never one to argue with the doc. That particular morning, the brown tabby was curled up by himself, snoring almost obnoxiously loudly due to his stuffy, runny nose. He startled awake at the sound of his daughter's enthusiastic wake-up call, his gaze darting frantically around in surprise for a moment before recognizing who his visitor was. "H-hey, mornin' darlin'," he meowed groggily with a sniff. "You're certainly up early. What brings ya over he-a-aCHOO!"
Scurrying away to prevent herself from being sneezed on, Sunpaw craned her neck forward to take in her father's form and gauge exactly what condition he appeared to be in (with her keen, medically-certified eye, of course). She decided that he was A-OK. "I was hoping that we could spend the day together, paps. You've been so busy and then so sick and you're probably gonna be super busy again soon and and I just miss you, okay? Happy now?? I said it." Her lip puckered out into a fierce pout, his fluffy daughter shooting him a pair of withering baby blues. She was really getting the puppy dog eyes down pat.
The leader smiled fondly at Sunpaw while she pouted cutely, and he would've chuckled in amusement if he wasn't sure his chest would be sore afterwards. To say his daughter was a pawful sometimes was an understatement, but she was so adorable and earnest that he couldn't help but adore her. "Ya really sure ya wanna hang out with snotty ol' me today?" Ratstar meowed jokingly, raising his paw to rub at his nose. "I think I can spare a day fer a special, lil' lovely gal, but we gotta stay in camp, 'kay? Otherwise ol' grumpy Graythorn'll have our ears."
"YAY~" Instantly, her pout washed away to be replaced by Sunpaw's brightest smile yet, the apprentice practically bouncing a foot in the air. She circled Ratstar until he was on his paws and skipped out of his den and into camp, chattering away mindlessly about all the going-ons of apprentice drama: Who liked who, who hated who, who was stealing who's boyfriend, and asserting a little too strongly that there was no possible way that she had a crush on anyone at all. "You're all caught up now~ Oh," her ears fell back, "maybe I should have saved some of that for the rest of the day, huh?" Sheepish looked cute on her. So confident and headstrong, it was rare to see Sunpaw colored by that particular emotion, as she scuffed the ground undertoe, beginning to wonder just what they could do now that she'd shared all of her life's super important events in the span of three minutes.
